Is there an option to retain your current or last used weapon? There can be times where I am primarily using my Secondary. But then I go to use a gadget, grenade, etc etc. And then after I am done my primary gets pulled out. I then have to waste time pulling out my secondary. This is annoying when I have for example a sniper/DMR but I am in close quarters currently so I am using a pistol/machine pistol to do stuff. I feel like this was NOT the case in previous Battlefields. This is just so annoying overall.

The issue they have is that the game doesn't remember the last thing you were holding. If you are switching from secondary -> gadget, use the gadget, the game equips your primary. They want the game to remember they were holding their secondary beforehand and equip it after you use the gadget.

Like think of this scenario. You are using your primary and it runs dry. Ah man, fighting is intense and the enemies are still around me. Switch to your secondary. Fighting with that for a bit. Oh snap your allies need one of your gadgets so you plop it down. WTF you are back to your primary. In your moment of hesitation of reloading or trying to get back to you secondary and enemy comes up and pops a round in you.

oh boy. I was PARTIALY correct. It looks like for "fast deploy" items it would retain your secondary. For "slow deploy" items it would switch back to your primary. Biggest case are the nades. I can't quite understand what it is exactly, but controller control on PS5 (potentially even all platforms) just feels so much worse compared to previous BF games.
Aim assist is virtually non existent when you're actually aiming, and even with lower sensitivity ADS I find myself zipping around trying to make minor adjustments. Meanwhile, if you're hardscoping and not changing your aim case you know someone is coming around a corner, aim assist will knock your aim to the side, especially so if a handful of enemies are in the same spot.
Plus, it feels like the response curve is awful especially in some vehicles, tracking jets with a Wildcat seems like a wild task with inconsistent aiming speeds (although that also could be a result of bad aim assist) - and I despise how vehicles have latency built in when you're not aiming, with the cursor continuing to move for half a second after you let go (although that particular issue would be for all platforms I assume)
I'm speaking more generally though - not just sniper rifles. But compared to older games, the controller aim just generally seems awful.
