I rarely get to use a vehicle because everyone takes the helis ahead of me pretty much all the time, i was able to spawn vehicles more often in control than any other modes, it forces you to play better, accumulating points wasn't difficult, just capture points and help your teammates

It's risk vs reward trade-off. A shield that protects only the area in front of you and doesn't protect your feet is useful in extremely niche situations if you're not with someone else to back you up. When you're using a riot shield you're extremely vulnerable. The shield is a nerf in 90% of situations.
- Pulling up the shield takes time.
- Putting away the shield takes time.
- You can only hit enemies directly in front of you, which means you need to approach them directly, likely by running straight at them, so they have all the opportunity in the world to know you're approaching and how to avoid you.
- The shield reduces your turn radius, which means if an enemy can jump around your shield, they basically have a free kill.
A shield bash isn't free. You need to take a lot of risk in order to kill someone with it.
