Welp, I've found a temporary solution to the launching issues I've got in regards to 2042. Basically what I've gotta do is:

• Restart the PC
• Clear the cache
• Load up the EA App first, then Steam
• Check the validity of the game files

and then I can actually get into the game. It's pretty stupid that I've gotta do that every time I wanna play, but I'll take any workaround at this point 😂

Anyways, the way I have my system configured is that I have one of the GPUs dedicated exclusively to the VM. That means the monitor(s) hooked up to it will not function unless the VM is running.

This, however, has one interesting side effect that I haven't figured out, yet it's not been enough of an issue for me to warrant going through the trouble to fix it. What happens is, I need to disconnect the VM's monitor before cold booting. Otherwise, my computer will hang mid-boot.

dependent on your board you can force the BIOS to ignore the second GPU on boot, tldr is at cold boot if the monitor is still connected it will attempt to initialise relevant DCC links with secondary monitors

One workaround is to simply swap the GPUs around so that the intended host GPU reads ahead of the other GPU. However, this also introduces complications with virtualizing the GPU.

The way I have it set up now, my VM's GPU is on its own IOMMU group. The host GPU shares its group with other components. This is a product of the way the board is configured and swapping the GPUs makes it so the strong GPU has to share with said components.

While that in theory does solve the computer hanging, it makes it a hell of a lot harder to virtualize the VM's GPU. I'm no computer genius by any stretch, so I figured it was better to deal with unplugging the monitor to boot it.

for a 12 week season as it is

consistent players will probably start unlocking it around weeks 8-10 and then there’s the t1 badge to for for the last couple of weeks, much longer and i think you’d potentially start locking people who do consistently play the game but maybe took a week off or just don’t play quite as much from finishing it

with the 14 weeks of s3 and 4 it did feel like the season as a whole dragged on a bit but that’s not limited to the battle pass specifically

Many of the specialists hail from those areas.

Given where they hail, I wouldn't be surprised to see either:
A map that takes place in the home country of one of the specialists who don't already have one, or
A new specialist (assuming EA DICE reneges on their decision not to add new specialists) that hails from one of those countries with a map in-game.

Come to think, I'm actually surprised that there's not a specialist that hails from Sweden.
