I installed the 531.18 recently and have already crashed a few times on other games, but specifically 2042, I can't play for more than 2 minutes, and it crashes and says the crash was likely due to out of date drivers, and to update them

Well. Toxicity in games got so bad that politicians have begun talking about making laws about it. The large game publishers getting ahead of those laws might just prevent laws that will be way worse than these filters.
It's the less of 2 evils really, imo.

No. It doesn't. Age ratings differ across the world, some places it is below 18. Also, in many places the age rating is a suggestion, not an actual restriction.

Also. The age restriction, when its there, is for purchases, not for playing (in most places). Some of the laws that has been suggested in some places is actually to make it straight up illegal to play FPS games until you are 18. Or at least make chat and communication unavailable altogether.
If you look at a silly filter as something that prevents that, it's suddenly not that silly.
