The gameplay of Halo 4's campaign really just made me feel like they re-skinned Halo 3 in many ways but I enjoyed the story of Halo 4
None of the Halo games are ever going to touch the OG combat evolved though

Yeah I don't know what they were thinking with the guided open world campaign I would much rather have had another linear experience than this
I loved the idea of an open world Halo until I actually got to play it and I was pretty bored pretty fast
And I never even used any other pieces of equipment I just kept the grappling hook equipped the entire campaign they didn't even give me a reason to use anything else

The complete disappearance of all the Spartans minus the few dead Spartans you come across really confused me to like I know the ship was destroyed and yada yada all that but like if there's that many soldiers and regular UNSC Marines floating around surviving then why wouldn't there be pockets of significantly more skilled and significantly better trained Spartans also surviving that you could have recruited

Mortars aren’t even that efficient.
Whenever you fire a mortar, you are spotted automatically on the map. Which by the way, makes other mortar users immediately zero in on you
Mortar splash damage is VERY small, so again, randomly firing it around barely works
BF1 mortars are cursed but 4 has a decent one which I think could serve as a returning model
You can only precisely fire one mortar, then the crosshairs spread out unless you wait to fire again, by that time your target has already moved anyways, and if nothing was deliberately spotting them, they won’t appear on the map anymore
Even then, mortars are all about timing

The mortar is used while basically looking at the map with crosshairs on it. Firing a mortar increases spread dramatically so no fast follow ups, gotta wait a bit which gives your target time to move

TV guided missiles have historically been and still are more of an anti vehicle weapon which are less engaging than an actual mortar to use against infantry since you have to almost directly hit your target to kill them
