2042 was probably the most anticipated game of the year last year, and probably released as the most underwhelming

It gave sliding more of a purpose, it could be used to peak corners more aggressively, it could be used to break out of the aim assist bubble of controller players, catch people off guard. It added something to the movement beyond just jump peaking corners for aggressive players.

So that's why it's a good thing.
