The whole point of the program was to get more power out of a rifle. The MDR simply has a longer barrel, the same round would likely have been selected.
The MDR was exactly fulfilling the intended goals of the project, the spear did mostly similarly. Save for not embarrassing a recruit or other service member when they reload the first 3 times.

Yeah, with a RDS you also get much faster target acquisition. I was just scoring 8% on the tests I was running. I was also able to run through the tests much faster.

They outsource quite a bit too, they have nothing monolithic in servers. "EA servers" just refers to the service, realistically they are mixing AWS and a couple dozen smaller enterprises in the US alone.
