-The reviews make the game sound like its really bad but I have been playing since launch and I will say that the game has been getting optimized much better as the patches/updates roll out.
-They finally started releasing content for their Year 1 pass as Season 1 is coming to a wrap here soon. New pass means new map, new vehicles, and new guns. Gives the game a refresher.
-Different and customizable game modes in portal. I find myself loading up in a few portal servers to change up gameplay a bit. They have stuff like Tank-to-Tank or Air Superiority. Variety of things you can do in portal.
-Can earn XP through numerous things by just being a good teammate.(spotting, reviving, healing, repairing, resupplying)
-The madness and chaos that can happen time to time in rounds of Battlefield is all the reason why I am still playing this game.
I am a battlefield veteran and 2042 is pretty damn fun to play. Give it a shot. If you are iffy then get it on sale.
