I think 2042 is unique and fun in it's own way, and is different than your standard battlefield game in many ways, and that's not altogether bad. But I would like to see a Battlefield game in the next few years that goes back to it's roots and hangs on to the core features and mechanics that really worked in previous games as well as brings back fan-favorite maps and weapons. Something updated and nicer-looking maybe, but at it's core, still classic Battlefield without too much experimentation and wild changes to the formula. It's just the most effective monetization model is different for these games nowadays and every developer wants to get in on whatever is "most popular" at the time. AKA "hero characters", battle passes, skins, etc.
It's probably just a pipe dream, but one can only hope.

In BF1 and BF5, a shot from a tank to a wall in a house that you're hiding in would kill you, if that didn't normally the debris would. With 2042 Tanks, it takes multiple shots against a wall to even kill a target, I've gone up to 3 shots at a wall where the dude has survived
A knife can destroy a fence, whereas it takes 2 shots from a 40mm cannon to destroy one panel
Also the fences completely block any damage to anyone behind it, even if they're right next to it

i agree mainly for the point that it fucked up the the later design of the game, maps, etc. it itself is an ok concept, it’s pretty fun actually, but i would of rather had more focus on AOW than HZ
and plus as dead as hz is shows it wasn’t a hit
so i’m glad they made the call to can it’s development
and i’m glad that exposure shows they learned how to make good maps
all i hope is that we get more maps like exposure and the reworked maps are as good as exposure

eh only the map layouts tbh. i loved 128 BT on maps like manifest and orbital because it was so chaotic and fun
