Also, these games were released during the heyday of Battlefield Bad Company 2.

I think DICE could make a good canidate but I think Respawn Entertainment has just as good as to make chances as with DICE maybe even better especially with they work together and EA should be the publisher and do not meddle at all, and DICE and/or Respawn Entertainment could made a great Nerf FPS game, where everything even stat boosts can be earned in game.

Personally having played Titanfall 2 and Battlefield myself, I think Respawn Entertainment could be up for it, Imagine a Nerf FPS with the Source engine and the same team who worked on the Titanfall series. I would love to see pilotable Nerf veichles, including the Juggernaut and Helicopter.
