Mech 5 mercs is more of a sandbox with you trying to kill the one who killed your father.
And while you do trhtat you do random missions while collecting mechs, It's perfect for modding cause of that reason.
There's also the focused campaigns thanks to the DLC's where you get paid handsomely and literally experience your employers side of it all.

Mech 5 clans which JUST came out is more story focused, It's an easy mech game because of the crazy amount of repair stations and reworked overheat system but it's a fun game.

But as you can see they occupy different roles and you work with that.

Its a little brainless but considering how the game plays its kinda needed and works.
Your sensors will automatically pick up on mechs around you but cover usually breaks it. You can increase the power, its range for ranged mechs but miss out on some of the specialised ones.
Active beacon drones have super limited range but allow you to see through cover.
Uavs scan an area and do the same but can be destroyed. Great with lock on rockets. Kinda cruel though.
You can also just outright hide from direct scans with specialised set ups but it works more against players for obvious reasons.
The triangles are really good info too surprisingly.
