It’s confusing. For stalker specifically you’ve got a fan base that is so split that people fight over what the correct ‘vision’ for the sequel is. So you’ve got one group saying it should be like this, another saying it should be like that, so there’s almost constant infighting. Anybody who goes and says they like X feature will have someone else saying that feature is the antitheses of what the game should be, and hate you for it. In most cases I’d attribute it to the fact that people deep inside do just want a game they’ll enjoy, but see people who have different tastes that oppose their own as obstacles that stop it reaching that state, and so choose to downplay and argue with them. The same could be achieved with more consideration for different perspectives, but in general the gaming community has gotten so large and interconnected that these groups end up clashing far more often
