Helldivers 2 is such an amazing game. Old engine, probably smaller studio size than it's competitors yet it turned out great. Amazing cinematic feeling that I threw so many hours into. Yes, it died out a bit, but tbh. that's kinda what you can expect with what they focused on with their developer budget.
Sometimes it's ok if a game doesn't have multi-year longevity.

The rpgs sell so unbelievably well that it sucks to see how they still feel like downgrades from what we had before

the only thing that's been improved is combat and toolset in my eyes. Shadows introducing more stealth systems is huge, but the rest of the game has been watered down so much that that is all it has going for it

rambling on a bit here but it honestly hurt to see how they are promoting the parkour in shadows. it's the most mechanically dry system we've seen yet, with an environment that looks from what we've seen so far to be the worst parkour space yet, and they say it's the best parkour they've done so far

it's just so backwards. but it hurts more knowing that they won't ever reintroduce the depth it used to have because gamers can't be bothered to learn systems with actual depth and nuance
