Hello, so I'm downloading 2042, my internet isn't the greatest for downloading big stuff however it's past that playable %. So naturally I want to open the game just to have a look around. But because it's downloading in the background and can't pause it, and I'm not using cell data because of that, I tried limiting origins download speeds.... it does not do any thing... any ideas. that trick helped me with BFV when I had this issue of "the game does not appear to be installed"

for the most people you have more steady and mostly a lot fps higher count.

If you put perfoverlay.drawfps 1 in the console it will show you the GPU and CPU frametimes

GPU seems fine for me, usually 100+ FPS on 1440p high or ultra, but CPU tends to dip

Only possible:

-clean install of GPU driver
-Device Manager unistall of the driver and update
-Windows update

I would suggest getting an headphone amp + DAC, and a nice pair of studio headphones to go with it. That would easily cost 400 euros though, and requires an external mic. But its what I have currently and I've never looked back into gaming headsets :P

but considering that an average person probably buys new gamingheadsets every two years, and many invest 200 euros/USD into one, studio headphones can last ages. So especially if you listen to music and want a long term investment it could be a worthy road to go into.

Yeah those are smaller maps. Old game mods like Bad Company 2 Rush works fine well for me. But normal 2042 jez at least with this direct x stuff I was able to hit mostly consistent 60 fps. But haven`t seen my 3080 going higher as 54% usage.

For all who asking why this game has bad performance its actually Nvidia`s fault of not releasing an driver. AMD has one and works fine. My 3080 gets out performed currently by an 6600xt.

But they are little fixes to at least stable FPS mostly around 60+ just do this:

also go to your documents folder-> Battlefield 2042 -> settings -> PROFSAVE_profile - search for DX12 GstRender.Dx12Enabled -> remove the 0 and set a 1

You could set GstRender.ShadowQuality on 0 aswell.

and if you have really bad luck set DLSS off as well. It doesnt work for the most people but kills the entire graphic and for some (like me) the performance gets worse.

btw. if you have Direct X error well. Youre fu* right now. No real workaround is existing and it seems like an Windows build 21h1/2 issue.

Nvidias drivers are actually more garbage than AMDs the qoute is not a lot higher but was the last time in votings 1.2% higher. Also it grills more frequently GPUs to death. But in the end both drivers are trash.

have you measured FPS/GPU usage, CPU usage after toggling that off and on if not your just going by feelycrafting

yes on 0 my gpu stucks at 49% cpu on 50% with 1 GPU goes up to 54% and cpu 49%. Thats why I said its weird. But it seems to help.

the problem is the CPU

and its not because your CPU is bad

its because the game is not optimized

the CPU runs at 100% and bottlenecks your GPU to 60%-80% causes massive stuttering!

you cant fix that

you just need to wait for the Day One patch and hope it will bring some optimization

You shouldn’t just say it’s not optimized. It’s a next gen game and therefore requires better than average hardware. I play at 4K on ultra settings with 60+ fps consistently

Dlss is only available for RTX cards and an i5 even tenth gen is out-dated. Gtx 1650 is too. 1660 is significantly better tho if you’ve got the money for it

But it actually is optimized. Quite a bit actually. Did you play the beta and see the difference? Did you know that it’s the whole reason the game was delayed?

Even with dlss off I can get 60fps+ with ray tracing on ultra settings

However, an i5 cpu is a very big bottleneck for a game like battlefield and it definitely shouldn’t be

tldr the GPU is rendering at an internal framerate of 185, the CPU is rendering at 63 frames and the in-game simulation is running at 46 frames aka, youre CPU bound
