Mate Cheap=Cheap that's why i see Asus the best becuase they aren't more expensive than others for no reason
palit and gainward cards are essentially the same, and they use decent components as well
well, you gain very little for getting an asus strix model
over like a gigabyte gaming oc
while paying quite a difference
I haven't tried them myself but i know palit it's been in the market for a while
EVGA FTW!
both palit and gainward models use better than founders edition components
and the coolers are pretty much the same, just a different shroud, so its decent as well
But their support is really good
I'd choose EVGA over all if stickin to Nvidia
honestly, i would take literally any other card manufacturer than msi
ASUS if AMD
Gigabyte is reliable
msi is literally the only one that uses barebones spec components
sadly, evga isnt available in every region
Gigabyte has gotten wayyyyyyyyyy better through the years
gigabyte uses pretty high quality components, while not being super expensive
gaming oc is probably the best value atm
at least in my region
Also in my college they use gigabyte mobos
somehow every gigabyte oc card is cheaper than every other card, while being a higher quality card than the rest
i also dont think its worth buying the very top end cards, such as strix or aorus cards
It depends on the person some love their pc fancy with rgb
they are literally touching the price point of the next tier card, while not being close to them in performance
I personally if i would ever buy a card it will be asus tuf
sure you get much better cooling than more cheaper options, but the midrange variants is where the value is at
RGB means 0 to me
and most of the time the mid to high range cards have great cooling solutions as well
its only a couple of degree difference between gigabyte gaming oc and their aorus model

the only excuse to buy top of the line cards is if you plan on extreme overclocking and modding
msrp for that card is 2200$
or you can
other than that, they are not worth at all
"worth"
I see no point why they added a whole 1000$
well they arent
to be able to OC better is more important to me than RGB
you get a very marginal performance increase
while paying way too much
unless you plan on using shunt mods, they are rarely worth it
or LN2
Lmafo i would go buy a whole system with that 1000$
nobody buys a kingpin card to just game on it
people who buy a kingpin card, buy it to mod it and to break records
More like Rich people
what would you rather have, a 3070ti asus strix or a 3080 gaming oc or asus tuf
i think its a pretty clear choice
3080 with my eyes closed
exactly
of course, looking at this hypothetical where gpu prices are somewhat normal
in my region at least, different card variants mean nothing
Micro center sells gpus at the msrp
In my country they sell the cards for 2.5x the msrp
sadly the closest microcenter to me is 7000km away or 4.4k miles give or take a few miles
the best value card right now in my country is a 3070ti gigabyte gaming oc
its "only" 850e
while regular 3070's are 1000e and up
That's weird
with 3080's being 1400e and up
but 850 isn't that bad
considering my country
But still don't buy just wait
i doubt any 3070ti will go bellow 800e
when prices eventually normalize
sadly the card is out of stock in that one store where they sell it for 850e
other stores sell it at 1000e
so im waiting on them to get it back in stock to buy one
That's sad
its alright, it will be back soon
i just saw it too late on their website
they prob got like 2 or 3 of them that day and sold it immediately, cuz people saw it was only 850
How much did graphics cards cost before?
Before it was sold at the msrp
Wasn't bfv supposed to be a prime reward recently?
It will be in a couple weeks
Also, the definitive edition is on sale for like $9 on Humble
oh i see it now i misread it, thanks
Anytime
Anyone knows how to set a sata m.2 ssd to main drive ?(idk if its called like that)
what is the key to enter bios on an asus motherboard?
is it del or f2
google gives me different results
more importantly
i need the boot menu key
f2
3 stores in my country
main drive as in, where your OS is installed or where all your programs and downloads go to by default?
hopefully that one store here will restock it soon

Is it possible to use dxr on a gtx 1650 while playing battlefield v
There we go. Nice and tidy.
Hubble telescope you were saying? Amazing piece of equipment.
I was looking around on NASA's website the other day of a bunch of pictures of galaxy objects the other day.
NASA.gov brings you the latest images, videos and news from America's space agency. Get the latest updates on NASA missions, watch NASA TV live, and learn about our quest to reveal the unknown and benefit all humankind.
It's crazy how long this has been operating and still keeps cranking out badass imagery.
I always wanted to visit the Goddard Space Flight Center. Their mission seems so awesome.
The Hubble took this: https://www.nasa.gov/image-feature/a-peek-inside-the-orion-nebula
Looks like wall art, I thought about maybe getting a version of it for the house on a print.
i'm guessing gpu prices aren't going down anytime soon
any suggestions for a good price/performance cpu for graphic design and animation?
my sister has a i3 6100 and gtx1650 and i think she needs a stronger cpu for that multitask and visual softwares
i was thinking i5 10400f
it's always them ryzen 6 cores
ryzen is too expensive though
Ryzen is too expensive
damn i know nothing about intel
i5 10400f seems like the best option right now but i come and ask just in case i am missing something
Idk ando, are you sure she needs a better pc?
I cant imagine either of those things being intensive
me neither, i honestly am not so sure
she says she'd get a newer cpu
but maybe that's not her issue?
maybe she's having her pc slow and it's not the cpu
Well next time you see her
Get her to do some of her work. But have task managee opeb
And see if its intensive
she has a 1tb hdd from 2016, im thinking maybe thats slowing her pc down
if anything
okie
128gb, put windows on it. Problem solved
maybe i should get her a 240gb ssd
for windows alone
idk 128 sounds like too little for me, might get annoying often
and then an additional 1tb disk
so she has 2 tb
1tb sounds like too little
Well if she is already using and getting by with what she has
How does adding more storage make it worse ? 😁
128gb or not
She has a hdd right,
You are adding a 128gb ssd to that hdd
So if she is fine using the pc now, she is going to be fine with more storage
But hey, you do you. I have a 250gb ssd in my laptop and its more than enough
well i dont think shes fine with 1tb right now
she also plays games
and stuff
i5 10400f would be better for games too but id rather focus on her studies than on games
if the i3 6100 is enough for this career then id rather get her something else that will make her pc faster for it
might get her a better processor later, or she can do that herself later as well
games aren't a priority
it's not like she can't play games at all with that cpu anyway
but yeah ill try and sit right beside her to see how her pc performs during her work
guys is media creation tool dependent on internet speed?
its really slow for me
%7 in 30 minutes
hmm
i thought it would take a very short time but since the only pc i have access to is old and has low internet speed
i guess i should have expected as much
it has like 8mbps and multiple people use it
guess ill be back tomorroe
it would take 7 hours at that rate
!!specs
i know
then why are you trying to use commands
!!specs
Currently there are no official PC specifications released by DICE for Battlefield 2042.
Any specs floating around the internet are just assumptions or rumors.
same as always
welp, it is %20 in an hour now so youre right
Nvidia LoveLace isnt gonna cut it against AMD RDNA3
Got so much info on Navi 31 lol
30 WGP Units, featuring 256 Shader Units each, split into Workgroups instead, so no more Compute Units
512MB Infinity Cache

Compute Units will no longer exist in next-gen AMD graphics
At least 2.5x higher performance in FP32 operations
Could those be the specs of AMD Radeon RX 7900XT? New information on the next-gen flagship Navi 31 GPU. Guys over at 3DCenter have been busy putting together all the Navi 31 rumors that emerged over the weekend. They gathered information from multiple sources, some of which appear to match each other. do m2 have longer lifespans than ssds
I dont think so
would you say its about the same or less?
same
do you know what could be the best brand for sata ssds out there?
BEST is probably samsung, but for just gaming its not worth the price at all
its pretty important which controller the drive uses
kingston is alright if you dont want to break the bank
crucial, western digital
A-Data if you really want a budget option
really just depends at the time of sale
i got an adata sx 8200 pro for sata drive prices
when thats basically a budget samsung drive
is kingston a decent one
i used a kingston ssd on my old pc, it was pretty good, altho it was only 250gb, it had MLC memory
i wouldnt really look at brand considering most dont actually "make" their ssds
look at the tech and storage capacities for the price
like rajta said, the drive it uses, tlc/mlc/qlc, dram, etc
idk anything about storage technology tbh
just give us a price and use case
and the other important thing to look out for is the controller
well and a region and when you are buying
im asking out of curiosity, im not in need of a new one. I guess i should do some research and learn about the subject
and i guess mb...
ah, well the BEST drives are commonly samsung, if they arent THE BEST they are up there
also, i wouldnt get a QLC drive
to answer that question as bluntly as possible
whats best for individuals is a much more complicated question
Samsung are a safe option to get as long as you don't touch their QLC line
thankfully samsung isnt nearly as expensive as they used to be compared to other ssds
SLC, MLC, TCL, QLC is just the memory type, meaning single level cell, multi level cell, triple level cell, quad level cell, thats how many bits they can store per cell
the higher the number, the more storage you can put, but it also means that they have a shorter lifespan, which is kinda important depending of your use case, if you move a lot of data, its pretty important
Also to be aware not to get the Samsung 980, which is a DRAMless SSD. It is always be better to get an SSD with DRAM. Shouldn't cost too much although paying 10-20 bucks extra for a 500GB or 1TB SSD. That should extend the SSD lifespan by a great margain
I5-11400H + RTX3060 or Ryzen7-5800H + RTX3060 which one is better for gaming (especially Battlefield series) ?
considering 5800h is just a flat out better cpu and gpus are the same...

i was playing bf1 and my cpu got to 85 Celsius
OK
¯_(ツ)_/¯
nope
Dependa on your cooling
idk what my cooling is tho
Look at it 🙂
well probs just a fan.....if its in a laptop
@proud trellis yea i know its a fan
thats not that bad for a gaming laptop
so thats your cooling
Clean your fans, intakes/outtakes, etc.
@supple bane thx
is it an intel cpu? @slender jasper
amd
ah
Add some aairflow, but 85 isn't necessarly bad. I try to keep my CPU/GPU at around 30 though
Yep
@wintry prairie do you water cool your entire house
lol, nah, but I do have a decent setup
even a 480mm rad on the most high end block will keep a cpu at 30 c
under load
never mind a gpu
360 x 2 here
you gotta live in a frozen wasteland to keep 30c though, especially under load
and your cpu stays at 30c under load?
I said I try to keep around 30, but under load Maybe 40s
thats still incredibly insane
ReALLY? uNDER WATER
40c is more realistic, and possible. but still completely overkill and a waste of money
In computinng, yep
aiming to keep a cpu at >40c and spending the money you would need for 2x360mm rads and the rest of a loop is a waste of money
What's your setup?
cooling setup or entire setup?
in what scenario do you NEED that?
^
Who says need?
by definition things above needs are a waste
Oh, semantics . . . that is always a great argument 🙂
ah, the standard semantics cop out when you ask someone to explain themselves
Anyway, back to technology help
so basicall you just want it, got it
Of course
i mean, we asked for your reasoning behind it
what cpu are you running ? @wintry prairie
7900k
didnt the i9 line not come until the 8th or 9th gen?
there was an i9 7xxxx
or is that a typo for 9700k?
i9-7900k
only thing im finding is 7900x
yeah
do you mean i9 7900x?
because the 7900k is an i7 part
intel naming schemes huh?
Oh, my bad 7900X
@storm osprey you are like a mouse pad guru right?
kinda
like you are a mouse guru, a keyboard guru, a headphone guru. etc etc etc
well. thoughts on hard mouse pads ?
in general or a hard pad to suggest?
not sure if you saw my post but, i got my self a g440
gross
in general i dont like hard pads, but ive not seen a logitech mousepad be good at all either
i assume their hardpad is basically plastic
id like to try a hardpad, but i would never buy one unless it was like.. 10 bucks for a top of the line hardpad
but even my "brick" g502 glides across the entire thing now with just a tap.
thats probably the only scenario where a hard pad is justifiable...
you got a brick for a mouse
i paid 25 pounds for this. its the most expensive mouse mat ive ever brought but at the same time its the only one that ive been blown away when i first use it
and sure its not like a model O glide. but compared to a cloth mouse mat? its miles
youre basically relying on your hand to be the friction for stopping power
yes
which would be bad on a high sens
but i play on a low sens. which makes flicking much easier
with my "brick" mouse
I got that charger mousepad from logitech and they give you 2 pads to use
I use the soft one and it keeps sliding of the charger mat
that sounds annoying
It is
why even get the charging pad? what logitech mouse doesnt last forever?
dunno just didn't want to charge it
lol damn nacho
i could play like 30 hours a week and only need to charge every 2-3 weeks
your pads are so fucking small too..
i tried my best to make the force the same for both, i applied more on the cloth tho i think
i have bigger ones
here i am with 20 inches of space for my mouse and i use it all
poor mouse being flinged around
Meanwhile I barely use the whole mousepad
dont remind me =[
yes
at least you can keep your performance on the go
im slightly concerned that this mouse pad will eat the bottom of my mouse tho
but i guess i will just have to wait and see if my skates start to disintegrate
its alot rougher than i was expecting
i was expecting something smooth, like glass smooth. but this has more of a sand paper texture compared to glass
also. 30 hours a week. pathetic
i work you damn zoomer
what real gamer isnt gaming whilst at work?
and yea, the harder the pad the faster your feet will wear
if you wanted glass theres literally a brand called sky pads that are literally made of glass
but, they are expensive AF
What is the advantage of using a hard mouse pad?
I took the skypad XL to a cemetery to do a drop test. I may or may not own a skypad at this point... Quality is extremely scuffed this is just an elaborate shitpost

see video i sent above
that is really impressive
boardzy is a zoomer and talks like he lives on reddit, but he reviews absolutely everything related to mice/pads and is pretty honest
if even a bit of a sensationalist
pretty cool how it lasted that long
i want to know what they do to make it so strong now
pretty sure theres also a bottom layer for the color that probably adds some strength to it
^maybe a skypad might have to be my next pad*
please no
although.... i could get a piece of tempered glass for like 1/5th of the price from an actual glass supplier
custom cut to my desired size
then like 2 pounds on some wrap
ezpz sky pad
lol doubt thats the same but im willing to let you try it
lmao i wouldnt try it
i was just proving a point that they are over priced
what makes this sky pad different to a regular old piece of tempered glass then?
frick if i know
hmmm
funny that. the thickness of the skypad is 6mm. the same thickness of the minimum thickness on this tempered glass supplier

googling obviously comes up with something being laced into the glass itself
also
This is really a glass mousepad moment if I've ever seen one. My mousepad is white, I forgot to mention.

interesting
like i said, this guy is thorough
also that guy has a superlight, a really expensive mouse pad. a likely over priced GaMiNg keyboard and a streamdeck. with some cheap ass 24" monitor. good to see their priorities are in check
well it looks like a budget monitor at least. its certainly old. acer dont make anything like that anymore to my knowledge
his main thing is mice and pads
he just barely recent got into keyboard, but still thinks thats a bit frivolous
he had a shitty desk for the longest time too
thast his old desk xD
So you suggest Ryzen 7 right?
Thank you.
is the storage drive on the ps5 of solid state? if so, doesnt this mean it will have a short lifespan? dont games affect the lifespan of ssds significantly?
In PS5, should I buy a 4k 60hz monitor or a 1080p 120hz monitor? (For battlefield, GTA, and basically shooters)
120hz
Ok
ssd's dont have that kind of a short lifespan, especially higher quality ones
theres more chance your mechanical hard drive dies than for you to go through the entire ssd lifespan
moving data reduces lifespan, you dont download and delete games on a daily basis, i dont think at least, so you will be fine for at least 5 years
Actually hdds lifespan is longer than ssds
5 years is a blink of an eye
well, i'd say thats universally true, but my WD 1.5tb drive died within 3 years
and its not like ive been using it that much
it was my game drive
ive had hdd sentinel installed, and it was at 100% health too
it died while i was playing crysis 3
most likely the controller died
while i had a kingston ssd that was 6 years old with 95% health left
Do I just explain my issue or do I wait for something
granted it was my boot drive, and i did have some games on it throughout the years, but still
what do you mean
Because my pc has done this a couple of times it won’t let me connect to wireless internet it says I have to have a Ethernet cable into it and it won’t show any WiFi on my list thing
what type is your wifi receiver
I wouldn’t know mate
usb? antennas?
I think usb
well, try plugging in a different usb port then
try a different pc if you can to check if its just on your pc, or if that usb receiver just died
I’ll send a photo of what is says or shows on it when I can just loading it back up my pc
Oof can’t even send photos
It’s fixed itself
Turned it off then left it for an hour then it’s working that’s annoying
Thanks for the help tho

mmm damn good chair at a damn good price
If only it was sold outside the us
which works in some areas but not for everyone
so by now the whole world knows my computer freezes but ive noticed its freezing for longer now mainly for around 5-10 seconds. but i have noticed sometimes that my monitor will turn off as if i have unplugged my display port cable ...i doubt it will be my GPU which is the problem though so could it be my motherboard that is causing the issue ?
it only does it when it freezes though....
have you reinstalled windows recently by any chance?
you'd be surprised how many things tend to get fixed just by reinstalling windows
i would tbh but i really cba
yeah
but, reinstalling windows when things come up like that is a good idea
just to make sure its not some software hiccup
is there a way to try and repair windows instead ? or would that not work
you can run a command in command prompt
sfc /scannow
you need to run it as admin tho
yea, usually it doesnt, but its worth a try
as it could be just some file gets corrupted
reinstalling W10 is pretty fast and painless
it saves all your programs as a txt file
so you know what you need to install again
i know its time consuming, but yeah
i mean, anything thats installed on your boot drive will be wiped
i tried factory reseting my computer because that re installs windows with it apparently but i kept getting an error when i clicked the reset button or something
last thing i want to do is reinstall windows because i doubt i will know how to do it and the last time i did it i had to have someone go through it with me lol and it took a long time
you got a prebuilt?
yeah it is
hm, have you tried with their support
i dont know how old your system is
you might not even have support anymore
long story short....my pc had issues with it about a year ago now and it got send back and they repaired it etc. but its when it came back the freezing started to happen
my system is coming up to be 2 years old in a few months
the thing about prebuilts, usually you have to go through everything with them
yeah its still under warrenty
cuz if you try to fix it by yourself, they can be like, you tampered with your system sorry your warranty is now void
i mean, it depends from SI to SI
at least its like that in my country
i literally cant even look at my system lol
im not gonna send it back now. last time it was gone for a month and it took so long, and my parents probably wont let me send it back again
damn shit
a number of years ago, i bought a prebuilt, or rather my brother did, and the hard drive didnt work from the get go
so naturally i opened it to check if everything was connected
and they barely, JUST BARELY accepted to change my pc
because it all happened within like 2 hours
i wish i listened to people now and built it myself
the store is literally 5 minutes away from me
i got a prebuilt because i thought it would be really hard to build one
but its not
long story short, the hard drive was broken from the start
wtf
they gave me a replacement pc
and even funnier thing
i started installing windows, and the screen kept going black
and seeing how they just barely accepted to change my pc, i went back to the store again
and they didnt plug in the power cable on the gpu...
wait the prebuilt didnt even come with windows installed ?
ye, it had no OS
the fuck
its quite common here
xd
and i was telling my brother lets buy parts and build it
but no, he couldnt bother
and he thought i didnt know how to build a pc
and in the end i got a fairly mediocre pc
yeah
FX 6300 and hd 7770
it didnt last very long until i sold it and bought parts and built a pc by myself xD
i really wish i bought the parts and built it myself
i only had it for like a year and a half
and the one that i built, it lasted me until a few months ago when i sold it
xd
ye, theres so many tutorials these days
im probably gonna keep my pc until it hits the 2 year mark so probs feb/march next year and im just gonna save and build a computer
i mainly wanted to build my own so that i could of got a better case lol
im not a big fan of my case
i wouldnt say its a cheap looking case but the airflow is what im not a big fan of
a friend of mine bought a pc a few years ago
in parts
but he cheaped out on the case
like really cheaped out
xD
apparently the case has 3 fans
oh no
the fuck
and he bought like a ryzen 5 2600
and get this
he was running a stock cooler, which is fine if you dont want to OC
and it would have been fine if not for that god awful case
oh intel stock coolers are trash
amd wraith cooler is actually decent
but get this, he didnt want to listen to me to buy like a 30e case
he went off and bought the best air cooler on the market
lol
the noctua NH D15 lol
HE PAID LIKE 120E FOR THE COOLER
AND HE WAS STILL THERMAL THROTTLING
i told him, for the love of god, its the case, it has no airflow at all
my case rn has 2 fans spaces pretty much. one at the back and one at the front which ig is alright...but im not a big fan of it
F
it doesnt matter that it has 3 fans on the front
there is no way for air to get in the case
so in the end he just keeps the side panel off
but even with it off, his temps are quite bad for having NH D15
is it one of those cases with the glass panels at the front with no way for air to get in apart from shitty little vents on the side ?
i keep my side panel off kinda
he paid like 15e for that case
BUT THE VENTS WERENT MACHINED
they were closed off
i have no idea how that passed QA
i dont know if its exclusive to that case
or it was just a one off that he got
like this case basically ?
yep
pretty much just 3 fans at the front for no point then
yep
and i specifically told him
dont cheap out on the power supply and dont cheap out on the case
i mean, you can cheap out on the case a bit, but dont buy some trash with zero airflow
and what did he do, he cheaped out on the power supply and case XDDD
i wouldnt buy a cheap case because i would want it to last a long time/have good airflow so that i dont need to change my case again for a couple of years
what the fuck
but i cant remember if its from this pc
or his old one
yeah it was a budget pc
but adding just 50e would be enough
to have a banger of a pc
2600 and a 1060 6gb
again i wouldnt really cheap out on the PSU because u can use it for many years lol
which a couple of years ago was a pretty good pc
yes
psu and cases are the only things that you can somewhat futureproof
and only have to change your CPU and GPU and maybe motherboard
but he would of probs had to get a completely new computer again lol ?
pretty much anyway
i mean, he doesnt use it that much
he doesnt game, his brother plays a bit
so it wasnt that important to him which pc
but he wanted at least something decent
yeah
im very happy with my new build
just waiting on the gpu
its dead silent, and it looks really nice
tbf my pc isnt that bad it runs any game i play at decent settings...just a shame on the freezing issue
while also being practical xd
see im not sure if i have my fans set to high in BIOS
yeah, shame
it just seems loud when i take my headphones off or i walk into my room
like a bit to loud
thats the other thing that i dont like about prebuilts, their bios is very restricted
not sure if its because i have my side panel off a little bit
it is
but it also depends at what rpm the fans spin
and usually those fans arent the highest quality to begin with
so they might be louder than usual
like my 3 front fans that came with the case
they are a bit eh
i just stuck some paper inbetween the glass and the case lol to help with the cooling a little
and i can just barely hear them
thats 50% of their max rpm
while my exhaust fan is from cooler master
its running at 1200 rpm
is there a way to see how fast they are spinning without going into BIOS ?
completely inaudible
it gets barely audible at like 70% rpm, which is about 1450 rpm
ill have to replace my front 3 fans with that same CM fan that i bought
hm, there are some tools
that’s what it sounds like with my phone sat on the desk just infront of my moniter, would you say that if loud ?
i think speed fan is alright
hard to judge, cuz its through a phone mic
it sounds alright to me
yeah ik
maybe a bit louder
i honestly hear my hdd spinning more than my fans xD
plus i got an AIO on the cpu
with the vid on max volume for me it sounds identicle to irl
next time i come onto my pc i will go into BIOS and check how fast
its defo not 100
atleast to my knowledge
download speed fan
i think it will show you all info about fans
i havent used that program myself, cuz i got the tool from my motherboard
nah i will just do it in the morning im about to go to sleep in like 10 mins
one store is selling it for 850e, which is a somewhat fine price in my country
but that store is out of stock atm
i dont think 3070ti prices will go down bellow 800e here
even when prices eventually normalize
gpus here were always at least 100e more expensive than anywhere else
in most cases even more than 100e
i have the web page open all day, and im checking every once in a while to see if they have it in stock xD
but they will most likely restock in a week or so hopefully
theres healthy stock of gpus in my country atm, a lot of stores with them
but the price is still very high
so this store having a 3070ti, a gigabyte gaming oc i might add, is pretty much a steal lol, every other store has them at like 1000e
Intel is doing tile GPU as well @latent light
For RDNA3, each WGP is 2x stronger than RDNA2
2x stronger and there's 50% more of them
eh my computer is louder
as long as it does its job
no point in worrying about it
MSI Afterburner
I have my fans set to run at around 3000 rpm when I'm not doing anything
my fan curve is pretty agressive
but they have to be because even with that fan curve my temp is 30 c
there aren't any official specs yet sadly
I cant move my character in BF3 when i enter server
can't do anything he's just standing at attention
I got a new dell laptop
and it cant break 120 fps bf5 all low
it also wont show me the nvidia control panel
some games work well
and in others the computer runs them like a brick :/
well it is a dell laptop
what do you expect
Oh why you don't get GTX3060 I think price really don't different so much.
At least in my country.

!!specs
Currently there are no official PC specifications released by DICE for Battlefield 2042.
Any specs floating around the internet are just assumptions or rumors.
your planning on getting your next pc already?
well. i mean as in getting your next pc on this generation of GPU's?
im waiting for rtx 4000. when that comes i will probably overhaul my system.
itll probably be not this Christmas but the Christmas after
Latest drivers are 471.41

Gaming at 128 x 72 resolution is certainly do-able with a few tweaks but it's not for those who enjoy not having headaches.
Thanks for watching :)
lol
AMD or Intel PC? Which one to go with?
The one you want
Depends on budget and use case
Depends on which CPU it is, they're quite competitive
Ryzen 5000 runs well but is a bit costly
Yeah
Linux has 470.57 as latest
471.11 has been out for a bit
Oh nvm
Mine is 5 years old and still working like a charm and i know people that have a 10+ years old hdd and it’s still working
Also mine is WD blue 1tb
Probably at the start of next year I will start saving so around this time next year I will probs get a new one
i too am setting aside money for it. ive got around 500 pounds now, and my current pc would be worth at least another 500 if i was to sell it
but im seeing lower spec pc's going for 700
I had about 400 in savings but I spent like 130 of it for my desk but hopefully I should be able to have enough by next year
when does the 4000 series come out ?
ahh
rtx 3000 was 2020, rtx 2000 was 2018, gtx 1000 was 2016
so its safe to say itll be 2022
I may aswell try and get a 4000 series card then ?
yup
well actually. we may see another series launch before then
gtx 1600 came out in 2019 between rtx 2000 and 3000
so we may see a rtx 2600 series or something similar this year
but thats just pure speculation
maybe
it all depends what time of year they launch though
if I manage to get enough money saved and the 4000 series is about to launch I will probs go for that
yeah, ill probably be aiming for a 4070 and ryzen 5 6600. but this is long into the future so. things might change 🤷♂️
I want to try and got for a ryzen 7 cpu
would the 5800x still be worth getting around this time next year ?
no. ryzen 6000 will be out by then
ohh
i want to defo get a ryzen 7 though
if the price isn’t stupid atleast
maybe 32GB ram aswell if I can
im ditching rgb for my next build also
its too much hassle
instead im gonna try get regular LED fans. for example corsair AF series. and a similar white cpu tower cooler
I want to have a white pc this time
its so easy to pull off
but I don’t know if it will go with my setup
I think it will but won’t at the same time, my desk is white/grey but I have all black peripherals
white and black goes together
just set all the LED's on your peripherals to white and bobs your uncle youre off to the races
I will defo stay with RGB fans and either have them white like you said or I will go to purple
purple is my main colour I use rn
Use red fans so it goes faster
i just have a deep routed fear for rgb fans. and no matter what i do its not gone away
after i killed my motherboard with rgb fans. i just... cant. when i rebuilt my pc a few months ago and had to re-wire my current fans i was sweatin buckets and shaking lmao
getting Vietnam flash backs of the damn fireball and all the smoke bellowing out my case
you killed your motherboard with RGB fans ?
blew it sky high.
would using a fan dock or whatever it is not help ?
I hate the amount of wires RGB fans have I didn’t even bother to cable management it because it’s a lost cause
my case just has a shit tonne of cable ties in the back and its all neat , god help whoever done it though
i could explain how it happened but id need to be in voice and have ms paint open to draw diagrams. its complicated
how many fans did you even have connected lol ?
it wasnt that
oh
it was a case of very poor design choices from deepcool that basically allowed you to plug your psu right into the motherboard rgb header if you wasnt careful
which is what i did
it all happened because the deepcool L240 and deepcool RF 120's have the same connector but reverse. one is male and the other is female
so when i first built my pc. i plugged my radiator fans into my motherboard with the rgb cable splitter. but for what ever reason the lights werent working. i couldnt be bothered to trouble shoot this so instead just got the powered and manual controller out that came with the fans
I also have a 10 year old samsung drive, its only 300gb but it works, but i dont even use that drive at all, its just sitting in the pc serving as backup
but because the connectors were reversed, i connected the wired controller into the motherboard thinking it was a fan.
and... pop
its really hard to explain without being in voice
so it’s kinda deepcools fault in a way ?
Yeah also I use mine as a back up who uses hdd in 2021 ssds are dirt cheap
it is 50% deepcools fault for a stupid design, and 50% my fault for rushing
ahh rip
but yanno, it should just be a given that today manufactures just add a tiny blob of plastic that stops you from putting the wrong thing in the wrong place. but nah, a tiny peice of plastic is too much effort
NZXT Kraken ftw
I thought deepcool were decent fans for a tight budget but they seem like they could fuck your machine up lol
would going half RGB fans and then going non RGB fans look alright or would that look kinda stupid ?
No wonder why its still working just fine, when its not even used xD
I don't remember the last time I wrote something on it
I don't even access it
It was before I bought an ssd 2 years ago
I meant about my hdd xd
Oh
Also its only 300gb so its just sitting there with the most important data on it
What kind of ssd do you have
Aorus 500gb m.2 now
Gen 4?
Gen 4
Great mate
I have Samsung 860 evo 1tb
It’s not as fast as m.2 but it gets the job done
Ye
M.2 is not a speed. It's a form factor and a connector that supports both nvme and sata and thus it can have vastly different speeds - for example typically from 300 to 7000 MB/s read speeds.
i was replacing a drive in my parent’s laptop and i think i screwed it up
this small cube was completely lose and idk what it does so i put it in a small bag just in case but i got the big anxiety now
You got a cube loose :p
Find out what mobo it is
Think i might get this
running low on storage
plus its on sale unless anyone has any better recomendations for a similar price
Don't know the WD lineup that well but usually WD mirrors the Samsung warranties when it comes to SSDs so at least that should be fine.
it is dramless, but has HMB
whats dram
ram for ssd? not really sure ive been asked that
Thats what i thought but i wasnt sure
if i had to guess it works like ram but for ssd, like short term memory "storage" to access things faster
afaik for large/long file transfers its important to have, but i dont think its that necessary for gaming
granted, you can spend like 5-10 bucks more to get an SSD with DRAM
What’s the difference between offset and override ?
granted like i said, sn550 does have HMB, but tbh idk what that means in terms of not having dram and if its better/worse
When I try playing with cpu core voltage I see these 2 options
per the dedicated pc discord im in
Why is the SN550 good when it doesn’t have dram nor HMB?
"The SN550 does not use HMB (if at all) in the conventional sense. If the SRAM cache has a miss (table data requested is missing), it evicts the last-used entry into HMB and puts in the new one. Most HMB drives have big issues with sudden power loss due to system memory being volatile and higher latency than local DRAM. The SN550 doesn't seem to have that issue. So that implies the SRAM is sufficient for consumer workloads and the HMB is probably just for already-committed data. Theoretically then, the SN550 (vs. SN500) could be better in heavy workloads although the SN500 when full still matched E12 drives largely because SRAM is faster than DRAM so for working sets that fit within it. SRAM, however, is way more expensive. SN550 uses HMB only as a victim cache. What makes the SN550 stand a little bit out further than SM2263XT or Phison E13T drives is in the fact it has more SRAM than those drives."
Intel or amd for bf4??
Whichever you prefer and is in your budget.
afaik bf titles favor amd
granted, bf4 is old and any modern cpu should handle it easily
hey which one is better for a 1500€ build? i5-11400F with RX 6700XT; i5-11400F with RTX 3060 Ti; i7-11700F with RTX 3060 Ti or the Ryzen 5 5600X with RTX 3060 Ti??
6700xt vs 3060 ti is roughly the same in terms of performance, but 6700xt has more vram, unless youre playing at 1440p+ i dont think this difference matters
11400 is definitely the weakest of these cpus, but its basically the budget king, but if these are all 1500 with only the cpu and gpus being different i would pick the 11700f or 5600x instead
if you play at 1080p high refreshrate, i would go with 5600x, if you are playing at 1440p or not wanting high refresh rate, i would go 11700f
and what if I play at 1440p 144hz?
ehh, how much do you not want to worry about running into VRAM limitations?
hmm a bit i guess, this is ma first pc build so idk about that
looking at 1440p benchmarks seems 6700xt has a definite lead over 3060 ti
it helps that you play at 1440p to alleviate some cpu need with the 11400f
honestly man, idk what to get in 2021 a 1080p monitor with 144hz or the 1440p but they are a tad expensive
mostly depends what size monitor you want imo
if youre good with 24" then 1080p is perfect
if you want 27" i would go 1440p
so id say if you want 1440p i would go with 11400/6700xt, if you want 1080p i would go 5600x/3060 ti
ok then, ty
if you want easy upgradability in the near future, that would be the 5600x build depending on the MB
personally i sit on a build once its "done" for 5ish years
asrock b550m pro4
iirc thats a damn good budget mb
zeebrugge low fps? anyone?
like a lot less lol
im at 130 on zeeb and rest of maps like 200
Hi, anybody can me help please, I'm a new player for Battlefield1 and I bought yesterday but I can't open this game because when I tried to open this game, I take the this error (0xc000007b.)
Hello people, is anyone using Lian Li Strimer Plus cables? If so, have you noticed spots at regular intervals that seem a bit darker than the rest of the cable?
I just want to know if it's by design or I got a defective sample.
You have a picture or anything like that?
it may work
Its kind of hard to spot, I have a video for now and the cables are controlled by the lianli controller, I'll open up the rig and set them to mobo sync.
Might be compression that makes it hard to spot
That looks smooth looking
5600x 3060 ti, i get less fps in bf1 than i get in bf5 why is that
because bf1 was optimized like a god
u have same problem?
its not a problem
i also get less fps in bf1
oh wait, i misread
youre saying bf1 gets less fps
thats new to me, maybe dx 11 vs 12
or rtx vs not rtx
Kind of, there are small rings of darker rgb
Dark sports in RGB products can be a thing but don't know this products so unless you find some people that do I believe they got quite good customer support.
Well, I hope it's just me being an elitist about RGB and not a product flaw haha
i dont use dx
yeah
probably cuz rtx card werent out atthat time
is vulkan an option?
i also had less fps in bf1
i tested dx11 and dx12, but for whatever reason, bf5 just ran better for me
my 1080ti seemed to prefer dx12 too
good joke
dx12 keeps crashing my game
on bfv
it was fine as soon as i switched to 11
What card and cpu do you have
Here is a proof
Even 1000 series benefit from dx12 in bfv
outside of crashes, pretty sure dx12 is known to give more fps, but not be as smooth
Everybody seemed to have quite different experiences with DX12 in BFV, lets just leave it at that 😄
Who plays bfv anyway lol
Plenty of people.
Oh really are you sure?Camperfield v??
i was never under the impression camping in bfv was drastically worse than any other bf title
i had slightly better fps in dx12 mode
but frame pacing was worse
so it felt like i was stuttering more, so i went back to dx11
Gpu and Cpu?
had a 6600k and a 1070
It wasn't.
6600k is holding you back
BF4 was definitely worse.
it was overclocked to 4.5ghz, but yes, i know it was the bottleneck
thats why its a "had" 😄
4cores isn’t just enough not anymore
Oh yea
it is, but IPC improved over the years
i bet you that when they release 4 core zen 3 cpus, they will be great for gaming
games are just only starting to utilize more than 4 cores
of course, there are outliers, but in general, games dont really use much more than 4 cores
so thats why i bought a 5600x, cuz fairly soon games will utilize that core count
My old Ryzen 1500x was at its edge in bfv
IPC wasnt that great for first gen ryzens
but they were still a good entry for a brand new architecture
and at a good pricepoint
Yeah 6C is the sweet spot rn
you can see that having a 5800x and up, fps barely gets higher
Yes
tbh, i wouldnt be surprised if intel is artificially gimping IPC on their lower tier cpus
because thats how they would sell cpus vs AMD
I think next gen will be the last chance for intel to retrieve its throne
their 12th gen will be better for gaming
so now we are in the leapfrog territory
they will be one upping each other until one of them hits a wall
? in what way? are they just gonna die off?
like intel hit a wall with their 10nm node
i dont see how that means last chance for anything
intel will be fine even if their next gen cpus are meh
^
they still hold a very large market share
Nah but then amd will be the old intel and intel will be the old amd
i mean... we had some 5-8 years of AMD basically amounting to nothing
and theres still a lot of diehard intel fans who will buy their products, cuz its intel, and intel=quality in their eyes
its not the first time that happened
beginning of 20's amd was spanking intel
Oh
and then intel turned it around, and was basically untouchable until ryzen came along
amd was first to 1ghz
amd was first to make a real dual core
and not like mashing two single core xeons together
i think amd was also first with making 4 core cpus as well
wow that’s great I didn’t expect that
but could be wrong
this was all before my pc time, but yea, its not intels last chance at anything
Anyway you people really look like hardware nerds
this is tech chat, on discord
Why 14++++++intel is kinda keeping up with 7+ amd?
granted, even dedicated tech chats like reddits buildapc or pcpartpickers discord are 80% trash
because lower nm doesnt just mean better
the node sizes arent really standardized
perfecting a design as well
a very well optimised 14nm can easily keep up with a new and immature 7nm
for example, for intel 14nm means the transistor is 14nm long
though 11th gen intel suggests its at its end
while for amd, 7nm means the distance between two transistors is 7nm
didnt know that one
so those numbers dont really mean much, since they are not a standardized measurement
12th gen intel is coming out in 2021?
