Do you have the launcher in one folder then the game in another?
pretty sure i dont
i didnt do that intentionally if thats how it is
yeah i looked everywhere, no other files to be found
nvm. found it
it installed its self in its own directory, not under steam. its on the right drive at least
ah okay I was asking cause I've seen people move it and not know
I'm undervolting my 3080ti now and gaining performance with no stability issues. I hate this generation of gpus
has anyone else noticed the weather thing on the hotbar with the latest windows update is blurry
I shut it off instantly so I can't say
yea it isn't sharp
https://explore.amd.com/en/technologies/radeon-software-fidelityfx-super-resolution/survey
"What are your three favorite PC games that you’d like to see support AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution? Let us know, as AMD is looking for feedback on the top titles to potentially add FSR to."
AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution also works with Nvidia video cards. Maybe if we fill in Battlefield 2042 this feature will maybe come to the game (if BF2042 isn't already one of the games). Extra fps will be a win win for all BF2042 gamers.
when will gpus come back to our plane of existence again?
I don't think within 12 months
so
the best answer
mid to end 2022
yikety yikes
I don't think people should wait for a specific AIB Nvidia or AMD video card. If you can get a video card you want (a RTX 3080 or 6800 XT) for a +/- good price, just buy it
you are talking as if there were 3080s and 6800s around for a more or less good price
lol
did it crash?
in what way?
i mean asking that about a tesla could mean it in 2 ways 😱
I don't know if you can buy Nvidia cards for a good price. But you can buy AMD cards for MSRP
msrp?
manufacturer's suggested retail price
uh the amds in my country are as ovepriced as nvidia atm
could this handle 1440p bf1 at +60fps? ryzen 7 2700 rtx 3070 16gb
lol
my friend gets 100% usage of his cpu in the performance tab of task manager, but in the processes tab there's nothing that sums up 100%
anybody knows what this might be?
why do you buy a powerful system if you don't even know what its capable of?
i know what the parts of capable of, i want to know if they work well together
cool
msrp is the suggested retail price but yeah..good luck
no
bf2042 recommended specs been revealed yet?
the alpha hasnt even happened yet

hey yall what do you think is the lowest end graphics card that will run BF 2042 properly
properly? The most popular card now is the GTX 1060 I'm sure Dice is aware of this ....so that's my best guess...also since the GTX 960 runs BFV on high (with custom Nvidia settings) this might cut it
they use Slack channel?
would seem wiser for EA to use a deep web URL
id recommend a 1660 or the ti version, but it also depends on other parts of the pc
he said lowest end
1060, 960 would not do too well
GTX 960 about the lowest end card I can think of that might could render BF2042 prperly
i use both cards for BFV 960 on high 1060 on ultra
what do you get?
Hopefully 2070 will be fine
so I'm asuming EA doesnt want to alienate their player base by going too off the BFV mark
i get a steady 60 frames on both cards
wow
custom Nvidia settings go a long way
i gotta look into those
nice card you shouldnt have any difficulty
i cant run bf1 at 30 on low
low???
why low...your probably bottlenecking your CPU
go up to at least medium and see your frames improve
your card isnt being driven hardly at all
what's your CPU?
i5-10300H
well the thing is your GPU is a lot more powerful than your CPU on low your taking the load off your GPU and placing it on CPU
i try running it on ultra but i get 15fps
basic question are you running with motion blur on?
no
have you ever checked out Nvidia's control panel?
nah
would you like to custom set it via control panel?...no config files just settings
yea
okay imma DM you and turn you on to my settings
aight
your not accepting DMs message me
hum...looks like one of us muted one of us at some point....haha
must have been some tift in general chat
what was your old nick?
i never had a nickname
you're new here?
yea
weird
joined when i saw the trailer
why that nick?
you mean why is my name Deleted User?
yeah
i messed with some guys a few months ago and i never bothered changing my name back
okay go to general voice ill walk you through my custom control panel settings
i dont have speakers and my headset broke
oh well
well im getting a new build soon so its not really worth it either
right click on desktop...then select Nvidia control panel....manage 3-d settings ...choose programs....BFV
aight
hang ill copy paste settings instead of going through each
aight
remember if you dont like these you can always restore (upper right)

i have an amazing computer lined up
nice what ya getting?
my guy is bf4 optimized im ready for a new one myself...hope I can manage one more BF
wonderful...might I suggest 32 gigs ram...I believe BF2042 might be ram intensive...though 16 would work...im thinking every BF it seems to double
i might get 32
well maybe not every but BF4 was 8...BFV was 16 so I'm sorta speculating
but what i have now is and i5 gtx 1650 8gb and 256 of storage
right I have a AMD FX 8350...both of our systems are mules but getting tired
that 3070 is so exciting
i feel ya
my friend has a gaming beast, with a 2 core processor , integrated graphics of course, 4gb of ram, and a massive 64gb of total storage
it doesnt even have fans
dont need fans...hahaha
probably a decent media box though...streaming movies and such
what alien device might this be?
he bought it 3rd party and it only had a trial version of windows
i was thinking of buying one of those pocket PCs for a streaming device
no it has like a 14in display so its pretty large
thats probably an upgrade
that is a full fledged PC
he hooked his gaming beast to a 70hz projector
800x600 resolution?
heh-heh...poor thing
he cant even get 20fps in minecraft on the lowest settings
you gonna give him yours when you upgrade?
nah selling this thing
you should im crying for him now
hes building a desktop
thats a relief
i tried playing on it and got 1% of 1 frame every 10 seconds on minecraft
it was like a slide show
he should sell it to a museum
im thinking of restoring one of my AMD T-birds
i used to console, when i bought this thing i knew nothing about computers
last console I had was ps1
i had xbox 1
played Doom and Road Rash
i use to use one of those dreamcast things
i never had the first machines
with the dream cast you'd have your own memory thing that you'd plug into the controller
it was so strange
yeah gaming and tech is so amazing when you think of how far its gotten in so few years
i dont have a ssd on this
i suppose I can get one now...but like you I want a totally new machine
nope it blew my mind how soon I ate up a terabyte drive
with the 256 i have now i have to delete a battlefield and reinstall the next one i want
fuck my first PC had 40 gigs and that was massive for back then...and I had a whopping 32 Mb ram...up from 16
can you only open like two tabs on it now
i still have that bitch with a burned out memory controler...im looking for a mobo for it now...love to boot that old fucker up again just for laughs
id rather put that money to a new build
a 1 gig AMD T-Bird processor...and that was amazing back then when most machines were 333Mhz
i have no experience with old computers
funny but the price through the years seem to remain the same
the oldest computers i have used are those box imacs
the one i mentioned its 1,700
hp sells a $100,000 pc
fuck that...even if i were a millionaire i wouldnt buy something as audacious as that
but imagine how many frames you might get on csgo
i configered one for the hell of it that costs $20k
but really i wouldnr even spend that much if i were bill gates
its insane...and totally hedonistic
i want the pc for tetris
hmm i actually wonder if my friend could run csgo
probably CS 1.6
i used to think the go meant mobile version
who knew it meant counter strike globally offensive
not me
last CS i played was 1.6 in fact
soon as I played bf42 demo I was hooked on BF
i thought everyone had csgo in their steam library
You havent tried the new ones at all?
i actually have it
Ah i see
but never played it ...no
I remember playing soo much CSS
Klik i have a half dozen games Ive never played yet
im just a BF fan boy...heh-heh
maybe 10-20 games i havent played yet
lul
yeah me too including GTA5
lul you didnt play gta 5?
no...lol...i havent even opened it yet

ive been meaning to but well you know how addicting the BF games are
the one game I promised myself to play this summer is Elite dangerous
zen what build are you looking at
havent really decided this GPU crap has me sitting on the fence
i hate the whole gpu thing
@modern gull this DLC for Elite Dangerous https://www.elitedangerous.com/
Elite Dangerous brings gaming’s original open world adventure to the modern generation with a stunning recreation of the entire Milky Way galaxy.
its like eve online in FP with a FPS DLC
you know Star Citizen?
it's like that but playable
Havent tried any lol. But i assume you can go from planet to planet?
yes they have built the milky way in fact...well close to it
Oooouuu interesting
mine , transport, fight, pirate, bounty hunt, etc...plus now FPS on planets that you control or want to take
yeah it is,,,but they found bugs on release gonna wait until things are sorted out...i do have the base game though...just havent selected my ship yet
Oh i see, i see
Elite Dangerous is hard for new players and takes ALOT of time
like. ALOT
Check AMD.com 🙂 There's no stock at the moment, I know. There are drops almost every Thursday
i have gt720m what gpu should i get for 2042 and processor on a budget price?
!!specs
Currently there are no official PC specifications released by DICE for Battlefield 2042.
Any specs floating around the internet are just assumptions or rumors.
It's better to wait for the official specs before buying new components
Oh gonna save money i guess shit!Mom i need $
But a GT720M is a laptop video card or what?
Laptop
dell latitude e5440 i7 4600u
12 gb ram ddr3 ssd 512 sandisk
it can run bf1 on low i need an upgrade
If you have the money, I would recommend a desktop PC instead of a laptop
Hello here I am, in #technology
Hi
Hi
nah i dont have much budget i guess i just buy the game now after a year or two when i have job i can play it xD
I mean you can buy it now and play it later if you want to
I will do that if my PC is too weak to run the game
yea my pc is weak im studying rn when i have job ill build a pc and can play it then 😂
Alright, its up to you to decide
Consoles are also expensive now
Yeah, a PS5 goes up to 1000€ here
Same here
i'll buy it just like bfv and bf1 my pc is weak but im owing games ah! 😂
in Pakistan here everything is expensive
Somewhere near me there are PS5s for 800, but that's still over MSRP
Game prices are fine, about 60€
.
Maybe it's better then to look for a new laptop? GPU's are too expensive now + no stock, same with consoles
I mean... still expensive, but theyre fine compared to console prices
I dont have money and my parents wont give me that much !
ill be doing a job in a year from now.. then ill buy on my own xD
If you can take the pain of plugging in an external GPU, you could use your laptop for BF2042
i doubt his laptop can use an external gpu
If you don't have the money, I should wait until you can get something good. Don't buy low end things
it requires a thunderbolt port. and thats only found on highend laptops
i dont know if my latitude e5440 have it or not
most certainly not
Its a 2013 laptop
its a highend feature, id only expect to see it on laptops costing near or above the 1000 mark
2013*
Ah ok, 2013
oh i should study now for a year and get a job biuld my own pc then play xD
i wouldnt bother buying bf2042 with that laptop
you are just wasting money. wait till you have a decent pc
i guess i wasted money on nfs heat bfv and bf1 xD
Well, I have a PC, and it most likely can't run BF 2042, but l still might buy it.
well if you can play at 480p on low settings with possibly less than 30 fps then thats on you
knock yourself out
but i certainly wouldnt be buying games with a laptop like that
Laptops can overheat, too
Ah money money money xD
yup they does
You can still play Battlefield 4, which is kinda similar to 2042
yup bf3 and bf4 runs decent on my laptop
define decent?
He has already mentioned that he can run BF1 in 25 FPS
yeah thats not running decent tho. thats unplayable
i7 4600u
gt 720m 2gb ddr3
ddr3 1600 mhz 12gb ram
ssd 512 gb
gamer can compromise
xD
SSD? Did you replace the HDD or
it has a dedicated gpu which is good i guess
yea i replaced hdd & i replaced 8gb with 12gb ram
but its a terrible gpu at that
Still, the 720M is not a powerhouse, it's very slow compared to, idk, a 750 Ti
Yup its low
i think the integrated graphics on the cpu may actually be faster
i know that hurts 😢
GT 720M (100%) => GeForce GTX 550 Ti (266%)
its intel 4400 on integrated gpu 0 gpu 1 nvidia gt 720m
no it is not
The integrated card is VERY slow
the 720m is slightly faster than the hd4400
yup
modern integrated graphics will thrash that tho
Slightly faster... that's a suprise
Vega 8 integrated can run any modern game quite well
im gonna sold my laptop rip uni and software engeenering xD
Oh wow haha
Please, don't use UserBenchmark.
I was looking to this one https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-gt-720m.c2297
never ever use this trash website...
UserBenchmark is not trushtworthy
i would never use the cpu side as an accurate comparision
but the gpu benchmark is perfectly fine
I use sites like TechPowerUp
But I usually look at the YouTube benchmarking videos as references
gpu benchmark go to 3DMark
my problem with 3d mark is that its a paid software
meaning mostly enthusiasts will use it
You can buy it sometimes for +/- 4 Euros
enthusiasts with well tuned OC's
there is a free version of it
Discussion result : Cant run bf2042 on my current laptop need upgrade xD
i also own it tho, im not hating on 3d mark
Upgrade
The GT 640 is faster than the 720M, well, that tells us something about how slow/fast it is

Lol
my pc is perfectly capable of running bf1
i have a pc too btw in the closet xD
You guys all run higher than 60hz monitors right?
i do
I'm not sure how but I can run BF1 at 60 FPS(most of the time), and my PC is under the minimum requirements.
I couldn't imagine an fps gamer playing at 60fps in 2021
Xeon w3580 with rx470 4gb but i dont remember if my dad sold out the gpu
Remember the time intel makes a few percent differences on their cpu?
I don't. I have a 60hz 5:4 monitor.
5:4?
I think you can use the DXR specs of BF5 for BF2042 for now, as a reference if you want to be safe. But... we don't know the specs so it can be wrong
1280x1024
Wtf aspect ratio is that?
Yes.
Very old monitor
1280x1024 is the default resolution
Like 15 years old
The thing is, I got it 4 years ago.
i dont think it would be that high.
That was my first monitor ever haha
Lol
I was using one of those back then
What about xeonw3580 with rx 4704gb
Like 15 years ago
I've never heard of a 5:4 ratio before
That can most likely run BF 2042 fine @vernal meadow
I know but if you want to be safe (decent quality and fps), you can look to that
5:4 is a weird resolution but it makes sense if you are reading the websites
well i meet those specs so that would be nice if that is the case lol
I mean the articles
i think dad sold that gpu away but cpu is here dell t3500 i guess
I have to use a VGA to DVI converter for the monitor to work
Omg
It is really old tech
Dell isn't a CPU brand 😉
You're the kid who had a jammed 500gb HDD?
no the casing towerpc t3500
@solid stirrup
Like full
Do you have a link to it?

Precision T3500
Damn kid, respect for playing games at all. You're setup is crazy to me
I had a 8GB HDD on my desktop when I was 9
Was Using Used parts to assemble a desktop
my first pc was core i5 2400
gt 610
8 gb ddr3
Thanks. Somehow I'm able to run some modern titles just fine, most likely it's the CPU, the GPU is too slow.
I wouldn't be surprised if you used a typewriter and a ergo mouse to game
This one is better (same PC but with specs) https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/313364/dell-precision-t3500-3500-1716/specificaties/ (in Dutch)
My first PC had a Pentium 3, 128MB RAM, 40GB HDD, in 2013.
In 2013!
me too in 2014 core i5 2400
That tech would have been half a decade old at that time
Oh I got that when between 2001 and 2002
Actually it was over 10 years old at the time(CPU)
im a gamer since i was a kid xD my dad used to play IGI 1 and IGI 2 thats where i got in loved with games
Shiiit
The Pentium 3 was released in 1999
My current desktop has a R5 3600 with RTX 2070SUPER
rich dude :3
All the guys I know that started on really shit hardware are software devs now
Not really
Nice! My current desktop: Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB RAM, RX 6900 XT, 3TB SSD
Between 2015 and 2019 I've had a decent enough PC, Athlon 64 X2 5000+, Nvidia 6150SE, 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD, the GPU died in 2020, if it didn't, I'd still be using it
People can get better and expensive parts then I do, but I went for what I could possibly afford
Yea that's totally fair
I didn't get into PCs until I had already left school and could afford decent gear
I’m current studying at uni
me too
I'm 24 btw, you guys seem super young hahaha
24 this year
me 21
Yeah I get ya

Ok, I got it.
Keep it pg
Please. Remember this is a public server, don’t forget to read the #500058972234055710
Im in uni too 2nd sem / 8th sem. Studying Software eng.
Anyway. I grew up with CRT monitors and switched to 4:3 and 5:4 monitors afterward
Turns out i have bought 3 monitors last year
I'm not sure if I should buy a monitor or a GPU for 100€
i have started from LCD to LED
An 34” ultrawide 3440x1440 at 144hz
27” 1440p 144hz
27” 2160p 60hz
bro pls xD dont flex
I've grew up using a Dell CRT.
I am not able to find images of it online, but it was a Dell.
You can run as long as the monitor supports the bandwidth
Good luck mate, I'm an ex software dev. Now I'm working on a station in Central Australia
Hopefully not Alice
Is the GTX 670 good enough to play modern games ?
depends on the game
My first was a packard bell but I forgot the specs of it
Alice springs region
QLD
my first very own pc was an i5 7400 and gtx 1060
Well that isn’t central Australia
Depends on what you're basing it off
Battlefield 2042
Battlefield 1
Battlefield 4
GTA 5
War Thunder
CSGO
Also, Premiere Pro(which is not a game)
720p on modern titles shall be fine
thanks man i might need u after a year for a job in Aus
you will play all of them on 720p or lower
and you will not be editing video on it
I was able to make a 12 minute video on a 560 Ti(tho rendering was done using the CPU)
Depends. If he got an Intel cpu with iGPU inside, he can use intel quick sync
Mathematically not exact centre Aus but, environmentally identical.
In Vegas Pro 15.
heres me thinking central Australia was empty
Australia is 90% desert
Usually the IT or tech related positions are located in Melbourne and Sydney
I’m currently staying in cairns at the moment
My friend edits videos on E8600 and G33 motherboard graphics
How long are those videos and what kind of software does he use
If you remember onboard GPU…
Worked on C C# C++ CURRENTLY WORKING ON c++ OOP, after exams on 2 july ill be working on sql visual basic and database
Not long and a not very legal premiere
Well, I have illegal versions of Davinci Resolve and Vegas installed.
Free video editing software sucks
Righto there are plenty of jobs, but projects make the difference
Yeah, kdenlive is pretty good
Yea looking for projects
Should I even try to use Premiere CC 2017 on my current hardware
Doesn't have to be extravagant
Some motherboards used to have a gpu chipset inside
Just follow a structured development process and demonstrate your understanding of the language
Hmmm any more tips
Go to meetups
If you've got soft skills, you'll find it very easy to find work
I have data structures in sem 3 and 4th sem algorithms
Nice
Righto good luck bro
I gave up on computer science and did IS
Thanks mate
IS (information systems) is non coding related but more into business and business management
Rn im not looking for jobs till 4th sem i should be able to create a soft on my own in a year than ill look for it
My only source of income is video editing, and it's not great.
It's good enough. How hard is it to learn programming?
I reckon you shall started developing your own demo before you applied for a job
Python is easy to learn
I didn't have high enough grades for IT courses except one female only one
Usually people starts from python, before moving on to other languages
😔
Constantly apply what you learn in school
I'm self taught so that's literally how I learnt
The problem is, I know the bare bone of it, I can’t code
I learned c first thn c++ c#. Now c++ oop after it sql and visual basic
It is like, I know where it went wrong, but I can’t fix it
Anyways, can I buy a decent game for $10?
I started with C since I had to use it for a project
Yeah that's usually where senior devs come in hahaha
I got grip on it now
Since in that course C and Fortran was used most
Depends on how decent games you are talking about. And whether you or can run it
What's uo there in cairns bro?
cout<<"CODING IS FUN";
Cairns is too warm, been there :P
Pretty out there for a software job
Is there something like Escape from Tarkov for $10?
Console.writeline("Coding is fun");
printf("Coding is fun");
Why doesn't DICE release remastered versions of their older games?
Visiting my mum and dad
It'll be a junk just like nfs prostreet
Console.log( "are we coding now" ? "Proceed" : "stfu")
Is that java
Because of EA, they ruin everything
I don’t know how much games costs these days
Just js mate haha

My boss used to get off on ternary statements hahaha
2042 already down to 52
For each sucks
52?
Yeah
Condition?1:2 fuckkk
Just throw in a while(true) loop
While do while are easy for loop is flexible
Only 51 TB written but already used 18% of spare capacity
51TB? Wow
I remember I was doing IS tho. I have to do bug testing for CS Students (devs)
My other drive has 600
Haha
Test case
I crashed their software so many times and they are so happy with that
Lol
My mate works for a sec company right.
They hack stuff for fun and they brought in an atm and they literally spam it with a while(true) loop until it crashed and revealed a vulnerability
If it didn’t happen tho, it will either be a really good software or I’m not doing my job properly
Idk how that worked but that's sec stuff
Well i have to create Pharmacy management system in OOP using C++ for my finals on 24 june
Will you get paid or is it just a test?
Lol Uni doesn't pay you to do an assignment
Semester final project for grades
No
Calculate and dies stuff
Does*
Do games run better or worse on Linux?
Im planning too install ubuntu but i hvnt used it before most of my seniors in uni uses linux
But which Linux version is it
I've never used Linux, I might download a VM and use it there.
Yea linux is the standard for software dev
BFV and BF1 run quite well in linux
WSL worked fine for my uses
Does anyone here play Hell Let Loose?
I dual boot on desktop and laptop
Im planning to do it
But I reckon if you also do business, using macOS and VM Linux on it. It shall be better
fedora on my laptop, artix and opensuse on my desktop
Ok
Tbh I've never heard of anyone vming linux on a Mac
The base operating system is perfectly acceptable in my experience
I have heard of them but mac is fine for devs too
Windows is really bad for devs
Aye
yeah unless you're a .net dev or something like that
God windows is a dumpster fire
Coz what I heard is, macOS is based on Unix
Microsoft as a company is baffling to me
And the stuff they do on Linux is pretty similar to the one on macOS
Hey jack
I guess that's me
Coz macOS is pretty good for everything in the category. If I were on of the devs and wanna enjoy the Linux environment, I will install Linux on VM
Bruh, I wonder what their game plan is when IE is no longer supported next year
Using IE is such a security vulnerability
You know governments wants The IE compatibility
Still
but so much stuff still run on late 90s/early 2000s software
Governments are so fucked with IE deprecation next year
a lot of industrial and medical too
Yikes
Yeah it's ridiculous
but those are usually not connected to internet anyway
Understandable to a certain extent but still ridiculous
Speaking of which… There are so many machines that runs windows XP on it
Only staff, regulars and server boosters have that permission
our trains use XP in entertainment systems
Ah
Your trains?
TransLink (our QLD train service) uses XP on their kiosks
a lot of IDE errors
Netherlands upgraded their software in trains, I believe we're on windows 7
Outdated but at least Microsoft still offers support if you pay up
worse is all the IoT devices that are always connected to internet but doesnt get updates from oem
since a lot of the industrial ones are at least never connected
Anybody here use a stream deck without streaming? I'm considering getting one for keybindings and script activation
Seems like a useful gadget
IIRC most of the machines that uses XP have an Itanium processor
windows why do you have to send 3 prompts in a row that my licence expires in a month
Intel Itanium
Good old early 2000s hardware hahaha
yeah but a lot of them arent connected anyway
Intel was still releasing itanium models in 2017
Didn't know that https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/series/451/intel-itanium-processor.html
Intel® Itanium® Processor product listing with links to detailed product features and specifications.
you can still use itanium in linux too
Itanium is so different compared to other processors
Companies bought Itanium machines coz they can’t be failed
IIRC the hardware and software are made differently than normal software you are using on windows
Coz it is a different architecture
The problem is tho, those softwares are really difficult to code as a dev
theres many different architectures
Intel might buy SiFive that does RISC-V
look at FreeBSD's support lul
or gentoo
if you are a masochist
To be honest i am not really into those space games, but they sure look pretty cool.
too close to the screen mister
now with 1000 nit of discord white mode

What monitor would be ideal to pair with a 3070? Mine is fucing ancient, in need of an upgrade. DM or @ would be appreciated ❤️
1440p 144hz or 165hz
34" ultrawide can fit a 27" 16:9 perfectly
if it shows 16:9 contents with the 34", it will be similar to a 27" 16:9 (on the 34" ultrawide)
hello guys, which cpu do you recommend to buy for a new pc? i have an ancient i7 980x. do you stay on i7 or do you upgrade on i9?
for playing in 1080p at high settings
Just wait for the official specs before buying a new PC or replace some components
But I recommend AMD Ryzen 5 or 7 (3600 or higher), no Intel haha. + you need a new motherboard (same with Intel)
ancient but still competent
its still a solid cpu for gaming
i would go for 5600x for similar price
Why does Battlefield 1 crash when I use Process Lasso?
NVIDIA GeForce 600/700 Game Ready driver support ends on August 31 NVIDIA R470 branch drivers will be the last to support Kepler architecture. NVIDIA has today confirmed it will no longer support Kepler-based GeForce graphics cards and Windows 7/8/8.1 operating system starting August 31. On this day the last R470 driver will be released support...
Old cards
9 years old
The 750 and 750 ti are not included in this since they are Maxwell
i have the Ryzen 5 3600, very good cpu
Yeah, it is good
@leaden sierra I can DM you with information how to get a RX 6000 series video card for MSRP, if you live in Europe
@prime jasper € 2.099,00 lmao
sadly no
eu>us
what case is that?
corsair 680x
Water cooling, nice
yeah its got a i9 9900k, 2080ti and 32gb ram
im sad as i bought the 2080ti a week before the 3000 series was introduced
yeah ram is expensive
yeah I waited too before I sold anything but now people don't regret since stock issues
unless your area has decent stock
yeah
I was lucky to be able to snag a rx6800
nice
Is the GTX 600 series cards still worth buying?
no
I mean great for windows xp gaming machines if you want one for that reason.
your saying the new rx 6800 is bad?
you can play bf1 with them but no
also you kinda forgot amd is not very good at drivers
my friend got one tho. it was really bad tbh
Ah
coz amd didn't actually optimised their drivers
I think that's very true
it didn't go beyond 60% gpu usage
That's not good.
i realised the drivers are the main issues
Ehh? I don't see any stutters with my 6900 XT
@digital hill @opaque saddle I rarely see problems with any RX 6000 series cards. AMD drivers are in their prime thanks to help from Microsoft, Sony and Valve.
True but at the same time mostly linux.
Last gen RX 5000 had many problems that were thought of being driver related but it's really a problem at silicon level for that series
RX 6000 on the other hand improved so many things
my friend got one and showed me the issue
it was painful to see it drops fps every 10-15s
brand new 6900xt...
You do know there is about a 7% chance of a new graphics card being defective
It's not impossible to blow a lot of money on a piece of hardware only for it to not work
Unreal Engine 5 demo favors AMD and Intel GPUs over Nvidia
RX 6800XT up to 15% faster than RTX 3080 in UE5
Something I thought I'd never see
But consoles have influence on that I believe
Facebook also helped AMD drivers quite a bit
And Google
They are worse in DL and RT though
But that's not really only driver related
Some cards can have some problems. Maybe he had a bad egg. But overall the RX 6000 series don't have that problem
Idk
Yeah most likely defective unit
I very rarely have driver issue with any of the 3
I'm playing with my 6900 XT for 2 months, without problems
Last one was last year where Nvidia driver had a bug in doom eternal where it would use system ram instead of vram
He saw 6900xt is cheaper and faster
Lol
That price difference 😅
But mostly stable
So he sold his brand new unopened 3080ti and bought 6900xt
Turns out it doesn’t work as intended
If he mailed AMD / Digital River (if it was a reference model) he will receive a new card within few weeks
Idk but he bought it from the store in the same day
@opaque saddle you said his problem was stuttering, usually stuttering is caused by combination of CPU or RAM not being able to feed the GPU the data what it needs on time
Should be able to replace it through the store
He uses 3700x with 32GB (2x16) of ram
Resolution?
CPU is a bottleneck at that res
RAM speed? Idk if it can be something
He bought 4400mhz ram but it didn’t work with his mobo
And replaced with 3600
MHz
3600 is good
I asked him to check the list
There's so many possibilities to what can cause stutter especially running high speed RAM
And the motherboard manufacturers put a check on it
My RAM wasn't on the support list of my motherboard. But my motherboard was on the support list of my RAM
But it worked
Ram speed isn't determined by motherboard
It's determined by the IMC of your CPU
Silicon lottery
It works and it will work if it works
I don't mean the speed, just the RAM. Like: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X570-AORUS-PRO-rev-11-12/support#support-doc
It's influenced by both
My board will not run 3733 or higher regardless of the cpu or imc
My rule of thumb is: if it has stated on the list, it should be 95-99% works
My B350 board can run 3733 MHz as well
My z390 can not regardless of cpu
It's both dependent on board traces, layering and CPU's imc
My first Ryzen 5 1600 wouldn't boot with RAM speed above 2666 MHz so I sold it for $70 and bought a new 1600AF for $85 and now run 3200 MHz daily
What kit
Damn did you pay DDR5 prices for that
My previous was 2666 cl 21 lol

Nah
1T command rate?
Just one DIMM of 16GB DDR5-4800 CL42 will cost around $300 btw
Anything that can carry or store data can be used for copyright infringement so they are taxed to pay distribution companies
Yeah DDR5 expensive
But that'll go down once more use it
Intel 12th gen is likely DOA just because DDR5 prices
Maybe
They have much bigger part than amd
Might not be cheaper until 13th I guess
12th gen launches in October
I know
13th gen will face Zen 4 at the end of 2022
Intel GPUs will have good performance but I hear drivers are bad
Sapphire Rapids should be good but neither AMD nor Intel will be able to compete with Nvidia Grace
ARM gonna take over x86 in server and data center
Maybe
Currently their power consumption is not really much lower when scaled up
Arm loses most of its advantages for huge cpus
But Ampere is designing some great ones
Nvidia too soon
Zen4 Epyc Genoa is a beast
96 cores and over 1GB L3
In theory, with 3D stacked V-cache, you can put up to 4.3GB of L3 on Zen3 Epyc Milan

Dropping 7/8 support because 11 is about to launch
Their reasoning was that they were EOL
And that 8.1 is soon EOL
They have a faq
Last driver for Kepler too
But that is 9 years old by now
600 and 700 series (except 750 and 750 ti which are Maxwell and thus still have support)
anyo
anyone know why my CPU temp is so fucking high when playing bf4
I only have it on medium settings and yet its nearly 85c..
Ryzen 5 3600 and stock cooler
I mean yeah
other games I play which are newer run cooler
but when I play BF4 it just
goes up to near 85 wouldnt be suprised if it lurks to 90
and its not even like im playing the game on ultra
It depends how much they load the cpu
But yeah wraith stealth sucks
But should still not be an issue, 85C is normal for that cooler under load
Yes, use vsync and put monitor to 60 Hz
Sometimes games have a cap setting built in too
Not sure if BF4 does, I don't remember
My 1600AF overclocked to 4 GHz still under 90C on prime95 with Wraith Stealth lmao
Yeah
12nm vs 7nm heat density
But it's still a crap cooler for 3600
And 3500
They should have used something slightly better
Not sure what 5600X has
Stealth lmao
5600X stays cooler than 3600X just because Zen 3 cores are much larger and there isn't so much heat trapped in a tiny core
Could be updating something
yeah it was
downloading legacy operations but I stopped it and all other updates
hm

not suprised though
its EA afterall
No, using CPU quite a bit during uncompressing and updating is normal
Steam just does it at weird times
yeah
I just
restarted and cancelled shit
it went down to 1% now
prob not even gonna get bf2042 until I can get a new cooler
cant imagine the temps if I tried that
Worst ryzen stock cooler
XDDDDDDDD
well yeah they probably knew they couldnt keep reusing the wraith cooler so they just put in a slightly better one
Well they did reuse it for 5600X :P
Apparently
But yeah it doesn't damage it or anything
It just sucks for cooling it
I prefer to set a manual clock speed and voltage than have stock Ryzen boost with stock cooler
My 1600AF at 4 GHz runs about as cool as it did when it was stock but I'm also feeding it less voltage than stock
Only Ryzen CPU that I own is not unlocked anyway
So I've not messed with OCing ryzen
i can get my 2600 to 4.1 at 1.4v
but thats the brink of stability
stays around 60c on my aio
yeah yeah. my cpu is 1/3 the price of yours
But my CPU has done great for 4 years
Well
My CPU was cheaper than 1700X
I might change eventually
I don't want AM4 right now though since it's at its end
Same with lga1200
"If you think about RTX laptops as a game console, it’s the largest game console in the world. There are more RTX laptops shipped each year than game consoles. If you were to compare the performance of a game console to an RTX, even an RTX 3060 would be 30-50 percent faster than a PlayStation 5. We have a game console, literally, in this little thin notebook, which is one of the reasons it’s selling so well. The same laptop also brings with it all of the software stacks and rendering stacks necessary for design applications, like Adobe and AutoDesk and all of these wonderful design and creative tools. The RTX laptop, RTX 3080Ti, RTX 3070Ti, and a whole bunch of new games, that was one major announcement."
