does anyone have experience in cats and mouse matts lol. the cats have been in my room this morning walking over my desk and have clawed my mouse matt and left little pieces of loose fabric and its in the one spot where it actually annoys me. anyone know how to remove em (already tried scissors)
my cat walks on my keyboard and leaves fur on it but thats about it
my mousepad is hard so it cant scratch it
I just don’t own a cat
they arent even mine. they are my sisters but they run round the whole house in the mornings doing random shit

Im looking to get new headphones
Is the jbl live 650 good
Or something else around 100€
Thats wireless and wired
2 hrs
@linustechtips
update with my rift s. it now completely doesn't work on my machine what so ever
so im gonna have to play vr games on my spare pc
i tried a different boot drive with a different install of windows and the exact same problem occurred. which shows there is a hardware problem. well less of a problem more of an incompatibility.
from that video
so 6700xt is probably slightly faster than a 3070 then ?
or about the same
although that might be using SAM so i guess waiting for real world numbers is better
yep, similar to the the 3070
its always interesting to see how companies make charts
40 compute units competes with the RTX 3070
RDNA2 is clearly the better architecture here

tech jesus says amd numbers are with SAM
I guessed they would be
SAM barely makes a difference, smaller than 3%
I've seen it even cause performance loss in some titles
Doubt
tech jesus says they on average see 5-10% gains
and yes, the occasional performance loss
ill just wait to see
Did they announce new version of Super Resolution yet
Or a new mid-range CPU that ain't over $300

asrock and powercolor 6700 xt look meh
lol is that a surprise?
Not surprised to hear mid-range designs looking worse than high-end
its weird to see the difference in tone for amd launches and nvidia launches. nvidia new gpus "blah stock is shit, they dont care about gamers", amd launches "this is super important and we are looking forward to them solving the stock problems"
@supple bane @chrome skiff @latent light a re-install of the game onto my NVME has sorted battlefield btw
thanks for the help
yeah I can only assume it was some fault that occured after cloning or something
it could be
clean installs ftw
thankfully 1tb ssds are cheap as chips nowadays
Always try to get an SSD with DRAM and TLC or better
Mildly inconvenient price of chips lol
neither of them can solve their stock problems rn
of course not, but it seems youtubers are being biased about it
maybe its just timing and they dont want to talk about stock shortages for the 6th gpu launch in a row
the tones for the 3060 were pretty bleak, and so far for 6700xt they dont have that same negative feeling
So the RX 6700 XT at only 2.4GHz trades blows with the RTX 3070, imagine the factory OC models that reach over 2.8 GHz
cool thanks, got a sandisk ssd plus in there atm
only got it around september time so would be surprised if its failed already
I will believe the more stock claims when we see it lol
AMD has been woeful
the 6700 xt seem nice but expected it a bit lower msrp
More availability than RX 6800/6900XT supposedly
10ms later its sold out
i keep telling my friend that we got super lucky to get gpus when we did
AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT 6-core processor
I think you can pair a gpu that is way better than that
What I usually see people is, getting a decent processor but it lacks of gpu power
yea
Sad but true
what u wanna me do
for id say like 80% of games, provided you have at least 6 cores, cpu performance really doesnt matter that much
stock
the difference between a budget and highend chip being like 20 fps
non existent
Yeah coz gpu is much more demanding these days

i would want to upgrade my gtx 1060 to like 1660 super but eh money
Like people did OC their 7350K and got a pretty decent result apart from 0.1 or 1% low
And don’t forget the infamous Pentium G3258
Trying to save up for one just can afford a different one right now
where are you from
where are you from too
like, country
I see. Don’t afraid to get a more expensive one, coz the less you spend, the faster you will need to get a new card. Assuming you are using it for 5-6 years
scrap that
fr?
just gone back on
Or intel?
and game is back down to 90fps
why would i lie
non geographically ignorant people ig
mite get a new gpu for christmas idk
I thought XT would be the refresh models
where u from
And X is the model that cost a bit more than standard
we can only hope they are readily available at that point xD
argentina
Cryptocurrency mining rip
you are european
Well yea
Coz those countries were split a larger country
what is hard to remember are the tiny islands in the pacific and in central america
I know some
lol yeah
i suck at geography in general, but i feel like eu is harder than most since things are so close to eachother
Typical gamers can’t get their cards these days
Especially the new 30 series gpu are getting more and more expensive
3060 msrp 330... cheapest 3060 is 380 xD
you have taxes included though
edit. its 530 dollarinos
but that free healthcare though

imagine caring about others
if you break your leg whilst installing your gpu and you save tons of money
my friend is in queue for evga gpus still
he recently got a 3080 ftw for its first price
at least in usa msrp went up because of tariffs
Don’t worry. Our oz dollars is affected by the tax and the exchange rate is similar to Canadian dollars
@supple bane I may have found out what my performance issues are caused by, you cannot turn DLSS on on a 3000 series card
what a dumb fucking error
Thats not it
Not being able to turn dlss on doesnt reduce fps
You should still be seeing 200+
hmmmmm
Unless there is a power issue there..
maybe I should do a DDU re-install
Could work
well I wondered that but using a 850w psu
and two individual PCI-E power cables
which you have to with the 3080
Which I was thinking whether it was the cable itself, but what you said doesn’t seems like it
Not 80+?
but it never caused issues on the old rig I was using with two 780s
its 80+ gold
RM850
Hmm. A PSU can last for a really long time, sometimes 10+ years without issue
What game were you referring to?
but like if other games were having issues I would expect that
battlefield v
yeah tried with and without
Interesting. What is the processor then?
5800x
Coz my pc do get FPS drop before the game started. That was possibly be gsync/ adaptive sync issue
Mine does this as well
What settings are you using? @smoky kettle
Just about to eat, will come back to you
ultra everything, dx12, ffr on, no motion blur
1440p 144hz
Description : A fatal error occurred while creating a TLS client credential. The internal error state is 10013.
this bad
you got tls 1.0 enabled?
where you seeing the error?
no joy after DDU re-install
at this point I might give up lol
do you have another GPU you can throw in there to see if you get expected performance on that ?
its currently with a mate, but could probably get it
its a 780 so no idea what expected performance would be on that 😂
you can just look on youtube
true
yep
this is the thing
I am in IT support so I do this sort of thing daily
yet this has stumped me
have never troubleshooted low fps in a game tho mind hahha
i too am stumped
was gonna say 1k but used price closer to MSRP
This made me want to check pricing in local shops
think I have sorted it
dx12 brings me up to expected performance
why oh why did it have to stutter when I first played it the other day
thus me googling that and then turning it off
2 things in that post Iam suspicious
he's 100% not using factory setup on the card
he most likely OC'd it
second and biggest none you should never do
open the card because of warranty issues
also thermal pads being burned means nothing, board can be cleaned and ZOTAC can put new pads on it
or even the guy

I saw that post early and havent seen anyone getting their thermal pads being fried like that
there was people blamming VRam was overheating a bit reaching 90ºc
I thought the VRAM modules on the 3080 goes way higher than 90C, like 95 or 100C in gaming, or >110C in cryptocurrency mining??
If any of you remember the RX 5700 XT from Asus, the vram from those cards were constantly getting 95C in gaming. It does caused a lot of issues still.
Yeah even 90C will degrade over time
Probably be 5+ years but still
100C on the other hand
reference 5700 XT lol
These temp are way too high. Like constantly toward the melting point
Maybe soon will be putting a heat sink and a fan on it
vram and vrm usually does
But it needs to level up ground clearance a bit
Not sure why they are using thermo pads for most of the product these days
I need to improve temps on my card and make it stop revving up all the time
I mean, they knew it but they still put the pads on it
Actually it could be vram or vrm temps that make it keep revving up the fans, but I've got no way of checking
This is unenforcable in some areas though
It's unenforced in US
Navi 21 left and Navi 22 right
Half the compute units but 3 quarters of the cache
More cache per compute unit
Its a nice card
2424 MHz is a weird number to land
Aftermarket will get to 3 GHz easily
Considering many 6800XT hits 2.7 and 2.8 GHz
Maybe a few generations later, will soon be hitting 3.5ghz or 4ghz
yeah I am getting around 103 and up whilst gaming
maxed at 106
No good
Quite literally there is a law barring a company from not honoring a warranty, provided that the modification did nothing to cause the issue.
Well corsair got back and I didn't know there was a damn feature to reset the mouse that the manual never mentioned
Fixed the left click problem
rtx 3070 open box for 519 on best buy and best buy decided to limit the shipping area

fuck bestbuy
all my homies hate bestbuy
@proud trellis what model/ brand 1660 super do you have?
AMD to launch FidelityFX Super Resolution when it’s ready for all RDNA products (including consoles) After nearly 4 months since the first Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards were released, AMD is slowly beginning to talk about its AI-based performance-boosting technology. During today’s Radeon RX 6700 XT product announcement, AMD has not provided an...
Xbox Series and PS5 use FXSR too
Maybe this means AMD's Super sampling method will see great support by game devs

okay thank you mister ice your services are appreciated
hello cuties
ando you know you can change your colour right ?
lol
hello Ando
yes
nice
what is your pfp supposed to be lol
an anthropomorphic hellhound
chatting on her cellphone
the character is called loona, from "helluva boss"
tis a dark humor show
ando you have cats dont you ?
no
oh
nyphon
oh its nyphon
Watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-2Scfj4FZk
Oh that really isn't embedding
i like how i seem to notice when im mentioned without being mentioned often
why are you a borger
why wouldnt i be?
He's american
oic
its more so that its my favorite food
they are so versatile
burrito is a close 2nd
What makes a food, versatile ?
that you can modify it quite a lot while still maintaining the same original scense i suppose
pretty much
I see
like.. how do you modify spaghetti? change the sauce and meat?
thats pretty wack
but with a burger, theres so much to change
Yeah I'd say you can modify any food the same amount you can a borgor
nahh
smh
what the actual fuck
There are endless different combinations of seasonings along for the spaghetti example
burgers and burritos are more of a vessel than anything
technically all those seasonings can apply to a burger, but i have more individual things to change/add
yea id say sandwiches are more versatile than burgers, but i like burgers more
(im not claiming burgers are the most versatile, and thats only a small fraction of why i like burgers so much)
My problem with burgers are they are too, impractical
sure, but how often are you eating that the food has to be practical?
Eating a burger is hard because you have to squeeze it in your gob. Then shit falls out whilst your eating

Compare that to like, a solid. pot of pasta
Easy to make, simple, can be eaten cold, not messy
... pasta is way more impractical to eat...
Can be taken anywhere
oh, are you not talking about only eating?
Yes, if I wanted to have a day out and I wanted to pack lunch
when i hear impractical for food im thinking of something like how easy it is to drive and eat or something like that
If I have dirty hands, I wouldn't wanna eat a muddy burger, instead I use a fork and have a pasta pot
There is a reason you can buy pre-done ready to eat pasta pots at a super market
They are cheap and easy and taste good. Unlike a burger
how in the everloving world is eating a burger hard or messy
i imagine granty just eating plain pasta by itself for "max convenience"
Yes
im preparing my lunch at work rn
I've eaten just toast for breakfast no butter or anything just cuz I was in a rush and that was fastest
you live a sad sheltered food life
Bang a slice of bread in the toaster, run upstairs get changed, come back take bread out eat and done
Out the house
That was a real example, I was going mountain biking at 9, I woke up at 8:50, I got dressed, got all my kit ready, packed stuff and had breakfast all in 10 minutes
idk if i would call a piece of toasted bread breakfast
It is when you only weigh 110 pounds
how tall are you?
wut
173 cm
55kg
ty
I guesses the conversion to pounds
dude Im 180 and weight 70 kg lmao
Idk what it is in pounds exactly
Im like 175 and 65kg
im 182cm and 79kg
Idk i might have gained more weight
yall are thin as hell
Yes im thin
youre tall
no im ando

im 178cm
no ure boger
yes i am
I'm 188cm

😳
i put my moniters refresh rate down to 60HZ on bfv and it runs fine
does it work better with only one monitor at a time instead of two too
yeah yeah yeah
i dont understand why the refresh rate would affect the performance
that did help too
he lowered the hz not the fps
also lowering your fps so your game doesnt run like a slideshow doesnt make sense either
Hz itself has no impact on performance
While lowering fps means cpu has to do less so if its getting maxed and stutters it might help
since always
It's kinda stupid though
that's not the problem between an i5 9400 and bfv
Hz has no impact on performance so it is not linked to it
the only scenario where what you say can hold true is if the cpu is overheating insanely
my temps are fine tho
i know your temps are fine
Nicr
im saying that it makes no sense to limit the frame rate to not get stutters on bfv when having an 9400
i will go on BFV rn
BFV makes my R5 1600AF stay above 80% usage lol
How it runs on jaguar apu I've no idea lol
bfv doesnt become a slideshow when reaching 100% of cpu
core 0 is at 100% and the rest are at 95%+ for me
the only time its laggy is when i first load up the game and when i first enter matches
yeah thats the hard drive
but after like 20-30 seconds of running round its fine
its on an SSD
guess its heavy even for an ssd then
but it's the drive
hard or solid
and thats normal
for bfv that is
most people get stutters when entering the match
yup
Compiling and assset loading
COD or tarkov run fine tho. on cod my cpu is around 60-80 and on tarkov its in the 40-50s
i think its just BF
out of interest. when you are installing bf are you stopping the install mid way, or turning your pc off half way through?
do HDD/SSD get hot when ur playing a game ? cuz my ssd is touching a HDD
no
no. i mainly install games overnight and leave the pc on
no
hdd/ssd should literally not work at all during the game only except for when the map is loading
oh
@fallen harbor it might do much more in future cause of texture streaming
depends?
Which ps4/xbox one sucks at so when they get dropped it'll be more common. PS5 and xsx will be much better at this
See: Cyberpunk
@proud trellis
afaik theres few m.2 drives and scenarios where a drive will get hot, but its possible
Gen 4 ssds can get hot when used 100% but they usually include heatsinks
even with heatsinks they can get hot
Only a few SSDs have major overheat issues like the stupid RGB one
its a WDblue SSD
that doesnt help at all really
i assume youre talking about the wd blue 3d nand sata drive i recommended
but yeah probably not causing you any issues
all that matters is my game runs fine
all that matters is that despite all of the disgraces that this world brings, you are still here with us sharing the present which is the best of times and the reason why you are a present for all of us
thats what annoyed me about my 980 pro
it has a throttling issue
so I complained to amazon and they gave me it for free 😂
thats rather generous
yeah amazon are good like that if you have an issue
its literally not worth their time to go through the admin of returning shit sometimes
they make so much money per second etc
Samsung NVMe drives are overrated
Their SATA drives too
Their NVMe sure do run hot
They are good usually but overrated yes
ive returned... maybe 3 products in 6 years, randing from 80 to 320 bucks, and they made me return it every time
f
hence why I used the money to get an SN850 as well 😂
which is understandable imo, but if people are getting samsung ssds for free why can i xD
tbh I am not telling the whole story, we had just gone back into lockdown after being free and I was under the impression we could not go to the post office
turns out we could
I had done no pre-checks
ah
lucky
rude not to really
they required 0 proof of this tho
so in theory you could do the same
although thats definitely not legal
i will make it legal
im confused what this is supposed to be about

44 bucks for cherry switch keyboard from a fairly major brand? hell of a deal
@supple bane sorry for random ping but if this deal applies to you, here it is
I'll check it out in the morning
ROFL, I thought you said a "Buckcherry" switch keyboard when I read that. 😄 I was like, who would want a keyboard from an infamous craprock band?
lol, given the right price i would buy one xD
bahaha
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti not for miners According to new information, all future GeForce RTX 30 graphics cards are to feature ETH mining limiter. A known leaker who revealed NVIDIA Ampere specifications months ahead of the initial launch has confirmed that the next installment in GeForce RTX 30 series, the RTX 3080 Ti will […]

Found old pc on curb help me identify who made it
I have no idea because well
Missing a whole chasssis
Yeah
Looks like an old POS system, was it near any retail outlets?
No it wasn't near anything just some normal homes
Lists BIOS ID codes for Intel® Desktop Boards and provides links to support and downloads.
It's about mid-way through. Doesn't seem to be linked to a specific OEM.
Might be a small board like that D845GRG MicroATX Desktop mb
Era is around 2002.
Is it a separate monitor and case? Or all integrated @digital hill ?
Gateway Computers was pretty big around that time, but usually had a mark.
all in one
Fujitsu had an all-in-one that didn't go anywhere, think it was called the Model 40
https://pr.fujitsu.com/jp/news/1998/Feb/5-3e.html That's the 220
Still a little too comparmentalized
Gateway's Profile series of AIOs is pretty close.
Well I accidently broke the lcd
it still works only left side is a little broke
The only information on the whole pc
manufactured by bell microproducts
Wargame red dragon is free on epic
If it has a AGP slot slap this bad boy in and run some doom3 (3dfx Voodoo5 6000)
Yeah looks good
Hey guys, i have a question, so i want to buy a new SSD NVMe M.2, any good brand for this type of ssd?
samsung
Um samsung?
Theres no other answer really
Just find a good deal
Like thats all im gonna say
I would go for Samsung. You can’t go wrong with 970 EVO PLUS or 980 pro
But I would avoid any QLC version of NVMe, or any products from ADATA
is it available that cheap for you?
why
i hate that he used a knife
yeah wtf
why did i just waste a minute watching this
how architects and carpenters make their foot longs
superlight is out for delivery!
lul
this guy just builds computers to high end customers i think
he makes many of these
one a few days later
could murder someone with that
52 pounds on amazon uk so its in budget
niceee
it says that its a detachable usb type c tho
id imagine that would be type c to type a right?
yea
good
The all in one I found on the curb has standard matx
I wonder if I can make it a gaming pc
Lmao
never
zoinks
4GB isn't enough for 1080p ultra
That pushes people to get a 3060 or higher
Just like the 16gb iPhone back then
Depends on whether you want a budget built or quality built
PSU is the only thing can’t cheap out
If its your first pc i assume you need a whole setup
Like 80+ gold is the bare minimum should be considered. Coz a good PSU can last for 10+ years, the saving you will get is more than getting a cheap PSU
And please consider 80+ gold as a bare minimum coz cheap one don’t last long. If your PSU is faulty, that would be costly to replace one
Yes
effeminacy rating
Theres like 80+ bronze gold platinum
Its a standard that tells you your psu isn't drawing like a bazillion watts and wasting them all.
Now. What’s your budget?
Are you just gonna game or do something else
I would go for 10400f (more likely) or 3600 as a start
For the whole setup?
The only thing you may not be able to get, is a gpu
Because that isnt alot
ye
144hz?
U aint gonna get 144fps in games with that pc
Well with ur budget of 1.1k you wont get 144fps
Like 100 for the mouse and keyboard and 1k for the pc
Should get you decent one
togehter 100 right lol?
Yes together
I get 80fps avg high settings bf1
Then upgrade the gpu later
I can’t find a gpu tho
gpus rn📈📈📈
ok ok
they expensive ahah
ideal
gtx 1660 super/ti
So if you go for 10400f with a 70 quid board, 2x8gb (16 gb of ram), 1TB Samsung 860evo and a 80+ gold PSU should be 550 quid
sure, that’s helpful
Of cause you can get it cheaper if it is on sale. Or 2tb hdd with a 500gb ssd
Why such a big ssd tho
Also with a cheaper case can push the price down to 520
a gpu is the overly expensive part then
i have a case
it’s sat in the loft
brand new
Remaining
gpu taking half my budget, i like that
Im 8 hours behind you
it’s cool dw, it’s 9.32pm here n i’m abt to play bf5 for a couple
10 pm here
Hmm what game is it
oh boy, let’s say bf4 sure
Btw can you send your monitor @oak ibex
Nah it’s better to go for more expensive build tho
Like what is it
sure
Coz people use 144hz gaming monitor these days
lemme find the model
Highly recommended coz you can get more kills with the faster refresh rate
Since you have that computer; it will be a waste if you got a 60hz monitor, coz I’m assuming you can get higher than 200fps in bf4
Around 170fps in bf4 ultra settings
Whats the monitor
i’ve been living like a rat
Yeah coz TN should be eliminated
so i should definitely upgrade
If people stopped buying TN panels, the IPS panels will be cheaper to buy
Even my phone has an ips display so yea
i thought i had something
If you go for 1660S or 1660Ti, I mean you may be able to get a gaming monitor
But still, I reckon it will be a bad move for the future
Coz, you want a PC that runs everything well beyond your expectations, not to worry about the performance for the more intense titles
first impressions, superlight is fucking great
Well you gotta get to that fps
your computer has to push out more fps
Not a requirement, but it will be capped at 60hz which isn’t what you really wanted since you will be getting >144hz
Tbh with you, 60hz and 144hz monitors will be a massive jump in first impression
If you got a chance, visit the nearest electronic store and check out the 144hz monitor. Not asking you to buy one, but to look at it
You brought a superlight?
What happened to loving the viper mini?
i got the m800 which is a viper medium but wireless (ripoff), and fell in love with wireless
so just went straight to the top with superlight
No worries. Take your time
go to youtube and look for videos testing games with the following parts (literally type this in your youtube search bar) and decide which does it for you and go for that one. These videos will show some graphs or number info, just check the FPS info and the resolution. I am sorting them from cheaper to expensive although it might depend on the area:
a) ryzen 5 3400g benchmark
b) i3 10100 gtx 1650 super benchmark
c) ryzen 3 3100 gtx 1650 super
d) ryzen 5 3600 gtx 1660 super benchmark
e) i5 10400f gtx 1660 super benchmark
f) ryzen 5 3600 gtx 2060 benchmark
g) ryzen 7 3700x rtx 3070 benchmark
h) ryzen 7 3700x rtx 3080 benchmark
You lost me
Super light as in the g pro superlight?
@supple bane
Still, I wouldn’t sacrifice getting a 1660ti in return for a gaming monitor. It is a real sacrifice, if you can spend a bit more. But let see how it goes
bought that since its supposed to be a viper mini clone but wireless
theres some problems that will prevent me from using that as a main for serious gaming, so i just bout the logitech g pro x superlight since its considered the best
3100 with a 45 bucks board will be >145 GBP
Yeah. But not everyone will agree on that
Coz you can always get a monitor after you got a fully built pc
But if you got a cheaper part (built) that isn’t what you really wanted, you may regret getting the cheaper part
Not sure whether you wanna play newer titles tho
id say get a monitor that does anything beyond 1080p and 60hz only if you are getting a high end pc which could cost you approx from 1200 to 1500 i guess
Coz I reckon 10400f and 2060S/3060 will be a bare minimum if you want a better gaming experience for the upcoming AAA titles
you wont make full use of a high end monitor on a mid end pc unless u play older titles
Coz I reckon 1660s with a 3100/3300X is a real sacrifice for me. It is my personal opinion
if youre new to pc gaming id say go for mid end tbh
youll most likely not tell the difference
In this case, a gaming monitor will be an add on, GPU and CPU will not be add on coz you have to sell it and buy for new parts
okay
Coz I saw many people who regretted getting cheaper parts. This is sad
144fps is better than 60fps sure but if you never or rarely had any of those before, your first reaction will be the same when you get any of them. You will instantly love 144 only after you get super used to 60, but right now i dont think youll get shocked by jumping from 30 to 144
Still depends on your budget. You cannot go wrong with better parts
the beauty of pc gaming is upgrades. it may be worth cheaping out on some things like the peripherals and spending every penny on the pc. then once you saved some more get something nicer
like fuck a gaming keyboard, cheap office keyboard, spend the money on some more storage instead
then get something nicer later
Yeah I went from 60 to 144hz. Big differences
I got an AOC keyboard for 15 USD
Brown switches, not cherry keys
you dont need gold rated psu
Hmm actually he will save more money on that later
for a mid teir system, not really
Like in a few years time
yh
only make sure its certified 80+ and of good brand. The rating doesnt translate to the pc performance or care
no
no
Not performance gain, but speaking of reliability and longevity
by rating i mean white bronze etc
rating is how much power it draws compared to what it supplies
neither
kk
for example a bronze 500w powersupply under full load might draw 550w or 600w
from the wall
i get that
so the higher efficiency saves you money
the only difference between white and gold is your monthly electricity tax bill
and like i said, the difference will be pennies
your pc will perform the same either way
of which i don’t have to pay currently
Nah, coz I have to pay for my bills, if there is a electric storm and using cheaper parts may actually kill my PC, even with a storm surge protector
and yeah the difference isnt even big
the rating doesnt effect reliability
or security
just efficiency
Was referring of build quality. Coz 80+ white uses cheaper parts
right
just go for white or bronze or the lowest you find as long as it belongs to a brand of good quality
yeah i guess in general a higher rated psu will be built out of nicer parts
I had a 80+ white and it only last for 2 years and killed my entire pc
uh oh
i have a corsair vs550
you were either unlucky or had a bad brand
which is white
The CORSAIR VS550 is a great choice if you’re building a home or office system with lower power demands, but you still demand the compatibility and reliability that CORSAIR is known for.
My friend got a 80+ white and it was malfunctioning. He switched off his pc and didn’t wait for long, he got electrocuted along with his GTX 970
surely it was a knock off no name tho right?
And replaced his entire build afterward
there would be outrage if something like that happened with a known name
a platinum rated psu wont lower the chances of your pc getting fried compared to a white rated. It has 0 impact. Just get a good brand
My old one was cooler master
bro, ‘low power office system’ lol
also from what i understand if a powersupply is bad it will die very quickly
if you have a psu last a few years or more then its probably fine
that mightt be wrong tho
For longevity, since they are giving 3-5 years warranty. A better one will simply last for way longer than that
high rate doesnt give you longevity
my psu is also white rating
i do have experience with a power supply going kaboosh too
although it didnt kill anythingg
just stopped working
From my personal experience, yes. A friend of mine got a really good gold PSU. He got that in 2011 and he is still using it today
white can be literally better than gold if the brand is good. Your personal experience doesnt matter
For my another pc. It fried the motherboard as well
for longevity, i might take the dingos word for it and go for a gold
Diablotek I presume?
aerocool
Oh
annoying, although the pc it was powering stays on 24/7, it never goes under load
probably draws like 15w
also reading articles on my psu is really making me want to buy something nicer heh
go with evga or seasonic
So i have seen those things and I was the person who helped my friends and myself to fix it in the last 13 years. With my experience working in a computer repair shop, I wished I got a better PSU
Back then
and never buy a shitty psu
i didnt buy this. i got it with my first prebuilt
its one of only 2 components i havent upgraded
the psu and the hard drive
When did you get your prebuilt?
Coz i have seen my old customers, they usually came back to us and their hdds are dead within 5 years time
The longest was 7 years
idc about my hard drive dying tbh
and honestly idc about my psu dying provided it doesnt take anything with it
I usually get a new hdd before the old one is showing symptoms
And yes I have lost 160gb of my data. So I tends to do that before it actually dies
man i dont want to get another pc component tho :( i promised myself i was done upgrading
If you got a good PC that is beyond your original expectations, shouldn’t worry about it
I shall go to bed soon
At least I don’t see the point upgrading my pc in 5-6 years time
its just a tough decision. do i spend 100 pounds on a new powersupply despite this corsair one being fine for the 3 years ive had it but risk it killing my components if i dont
I know how it feels like. I have seen many people who got a cheap PSU and fried their PC and ended up spending for a new computer
I might buy a new 750w seasonic psu
Still, my personal experience. Doesn’t mean it will 100% happen to anyone just because i have seen it, fixed it
Most likely this
my evga 500w 80+ is fine but I do want at least some room for upgrades
i would also have to glue L brackets to a new psu which i wouldnt like doing
At least they give you 7 years warranty. As they would expected the part shall last longer than 7 years
Meaning if it failed, you can still get a replacement one without spending extra pennies with their warranty policies, stated
this still pains me every time i look at it
i wish i had spent the time to figure something better out than that. but i rushed it
It looks ummm painful
You sure you wanted to mount it on a wooden board?
You could have made a bracket that goes around the PSU
IK, but like i said i rushed it
my pc was already out of action for 3 days at that point whilst i built it and i was getting bored
it wasnt even supposed to go underneath. the original CAD designs had it inside like the rest of the components but my plans where spoiled by AIO tubes not being bendy enough
I usually use 80% TDP rated from my PSU
it was supposed to sit where the HDD is in that photo
and those to fans where supposed to go above the motherboard
but the tubes werent flexible enough so i just had to wing it
Maybe I’m the only person who doesn’t care about how my pc looks like
As long as it works, it doesn’t matter to me how it looks like
meh ive always liked how my pc looked
Coz I cheap out those things for better quality parts
ive had this convo before. id be willing to take certain hits like temperatures for better visuals
like a worse cpu cooler but one that matched the colour scheme
i would be very willing to do that
Lol maybe that is related to the days I have to fix my pc daily
Open up the case and fixed it as daily basis
Malfunctioning motherboard. That was around 11 years ago
Can’t be bothered to get a new PC as I was too broke for it. I ended up saving 1 year worth of money from lunch and got a new pc. And only used for a couple of months
Coz the old motherboard was playing up. It could be working yesterday, may not work today. And will be working fine for the next day
i see
im addicted to tinkering with computers at this point, hence why i promised i was done upgrading
because in the space of 3 years ive brought a prebuilt, 2 motherboards, a cpu, a gpu, 2 sets of ram, an ssd, 7 fans and an AIO
i keep trying to find excuses to build a new pc when rtx 4000 launches too. but i need to tell my self NO!
kinda sad really
Well if you got a pc that is beyond your expectations. You don’t even need to worry about it
I was like, I bought what I needed at first
So I bought a cheaper part, regretted getting it and ended up getting a more expensive part
Which means I have spent at nearly twice as much as I would have thought
And nah your pc is fine. There is no competition about, I need a better pc to win the game
well in fairness to me
the main 2 games i played are ark and bfv
and the prebuilt i got had a 4c4t cpu at 3.3ghz and a 1060
and the cpu wasnt enough for bfv and the gpu wasnt enough for ark
1060 is a common card
that solid 22 fps tho at 1440p ultra
Coz it was cheap
I mean it isn’t really that cheap
But it is cheaper than getting a 1070 and it satisfied many others
I usually go for quality build coz I know myself so much. If I got a cheaper part, regretted immediately and ended up getting a more expensive one. So I paid for a premium and ended up getting a way better part with the similar price (old + part vs premium but more power part)
it's the most used card with like 20-25% of the steam population using it.
you have a desk pc :O
i do
fancy
did it take the piss to do
i would smash my desk and it would break
Oh that bitch ain't breaking
It made be a bit rough around the edges, but one thing it isn't is weak
Its definitely stronger than the ikea desk I started with
id still break it
i dont bang my controler or mouse i just slam my hand into my desk
Besidez, its an L desk, if I was to bang my hand into my desk it wouldn't be the desk pc
yea i got it this noon
played a few matches already, feels wired
except for no wire
did your hot sauce arrive nyphon
@solar kestrel lol how much?!
yep, came in yesterday, its delicious but borderline too hot
this is a habanero sauce, so i guess thats my so far limit
5k on scoville scale iirc

this shits rare
one of a kind too, its been used by me
