well in terms of results its worth it. but imo its too "dangerous"

gpu clock speeds are proportional to temperatures. gpu gets hotter and clock speed goes down, gpu gets cooler clock speed goes up

so water cooling them can have the same results as overclocking in some cases

this is why when you first launch a game you will see the gpu running really high clock speeds, because it hasnt had time to heat up yet

Hey hey, to add on. I'm a bit late but hey.
Basically, the 3070 is A LOT better than a 2080TI, alongside a lot more worth it- or is it? The availability is the problem, if I were you I would wait and grind to get a 3070 or 3060 way over a 2080TI. The 3070TI is also a option, "but that isn't a thing lol". No, but it is to be released within 2021, It'll be a lot harder to get your hands on but it will be using GDDR6X which the 3060/3070 doesn't have, it belongs to the 3080/3090 only so far. The difference between GDDR6X and GDDR6 is that GDDR6X is a lot better at running games at 1440p/4k. The 3070 itself is also great at 1440P and almost ideal, but adding on a little extra never hurts. To sum this up, if I were you, don't buy the 2080TI and don't wait for the 3070TI unless you want to wait a long time. Preferably try to get your hands on a 3060/3070, if you play in 1080p then you're good with 3060, unless you want to add some spice to it that is. If you play in 1440P then the 3070 is ideal.

That's a question of opinion, you can clearly see a difference in 240 compared to a 144HZ monitor. If you want to that is, the reason why the jump from 60HZ to 144HZ is because the numbers are low. Thus being a lot more noticeable, 240 compared to 144 is also a "big jump" but yet it's not as noticeable for some, if you were todo a direct comparison you'd see a difference.

although at first the gap betweeen 144hz and 240hz seems big, its almost 100hz. its actually very small if you look at the frame time (the thing that actually determines how smooth something appears)

the frame time of a 60hz monitor is around 17ms, its then 7 for 144 and 4ms for 240

so as you can see, going from 60hz to 144 is a huge jump, of 10ms, however going from 144 to 240 is a jump of 3ms which is barely noticeable once its already so smooth

and 360hz is 3ms. so even tho 240-360 is the biggest gap in terms of refresh rate at 120hz difference, the frame time gap is just 1 ms

so there are MASSIVE diminishing returns as refresh rate increases
