but the problem is tho. 1080i is good enough for normal TV broadcasting (like news and programmes, not movies or docos). when people can get 4k tvs for the same/similar price of a FHD tvs, they will opt for 4k tvs for sure.

it is worth mentioning most of the Free TV channels are still using 1080i. unless the tv broadcasters have decided to upgrade their channels/equipment to 4k. For TV... actually not even 60fps. they are using 1080i/25 (interlaced) to simulate the 50Hz experience to viewer WHILE decrease the bandwidth by HALF
While Bandwidth are expensive (1080i channels can be as average as 10mbps to as good as 20mbps, the higher bandwidth, the higher image quality will be), If you were the tv broadcasters, then i guess you will find a way to squeeze more channels in and increase the overall quality of the image. Remember in general use cases, you wont even notice differences if people don't tell you this is using interlaced, apart from sports and fast moving scenes)
Most of the monitors (before 144hz or 240hz or even higher) sold before late 2010s ARE 60Hz. Till in the recent years you have seen the monitor manufacturers have a move to Overclock "their 60Hz panels" to 75Hz and sold it as 75Hz GAMING MONITOR despite the fact the screen are made as 60Hz but instead with better chipsets

My 6800xt came in today and no issue so far! I dont have to rma this card which is pretty big lol. Stock cooler about 15% oc on the card 65% fan speed im hitting 67c and its putting up some great numbers. I was having gpu usage issues on my 3000 series amd cpu but the 5000 series is doing very well with them. Now im gonna swap out thermal paste and see if i can get better temps.
It does super well at 1440p its beating my 3080 across the board by a decent % consistently

Most people look at bfv and turn on ray tracing on an already cpu demanding game and my cpu usage goes up when i turn on ray tracing especially when i use the new cards the 3080 or 6800xt. My old 3900xt hit 60-70% usage when ray tracing Nothing else no background stuff just the game

RTX 3070 and 3080 should of had more VRAM especially when you consider next-gen triple A titles at the end of 2021 will probably be a lot more graphically demanding now that we're at the beginning of a new generation

Also not because of smart or anything but on games like vermintide 2 I have much much higher fps on my 6800xt. I have the game set to use 30 cpu threads and with the 3080 i drop into the 70s while same cpu with the 6800xt i stay well into the 100s. Just a weird title but nice to see the dips are going away

Grace hopper gpus are about to launch. nvidia did in honor of grace hopper remembrance thing and they have gotten really quite about their workstation gpus. Apparently 5nm and chiplet design on schedule to be released 2021. This could be pretty big with multiple dies on the same pcb. It will be a workstation gpu ofcourse for a year or 2 to let it mature a little

I dont think you're looking at the time span of this. If its a workstation gpu a mainstream gaming gpu wont be out for some time. So this leaves room for a refresh while they work on the release of the "hopper" generation of gpus. Ampere was a work station gpu for almost 2 years until it became a gaming gpu

i reckon if nvidia switched to 5nm then i guess they won't sell much as much as what they have currently coz apple pays for premium to reserve the 5nm stock from TSMC FIRST, and the majority of the companies will switch to 5nm later on, then it will be a huge competition between different tech companies
and secondly, it takes time, money and effort to develop products, the more effort they put in their product with older gen nodes, the more powerful and efficient the final product will be

I mean yield rates have already been leaked and prices. Ampere gpus were cheaper because of how long they had work station gpus for and they were power limited.They raised the power limit for the work station gpus to 380 watts then we got a bios update for our 3080s/3090s allowing 400 watts power draw. They go up and down in prices pushing for new tech. We would be getting more expensive gpus since the same amount of silicon for 5nm vs 7nm is twice the price. Nvidia has been hiring engineers all year for... 7nm? I dont buy it. They will have a refresh as the usual and then have something big after that.
10nm to 8nm was like 20-30% gains in performance. So 8-7nm would be half of that. So a refresh would be about 15% give or take unless they up the power draw. If they chose to use 7nm in the refresh
actually scaling down with similar power would be about 20% but still Like 2070 and 2070 super are about 20-25% apart per the refresh

Why does it want you to turn on dsr? Thats dynamic super resolution and its gonna render higher resolution when the res isnt whats causing 35 fps dips
