RT is pretty pointless most of the times, you get like max 5% better visuals, but with 50% less performance xD
yeah but its not good

which is pretty much the whole point of upscaling
it's not
multiplayer games yes typically but it's a staple of current generation titles
I really dont like the current meta of game development when it comes to opitimizing of Native performance
a lot of devs pick the lazy way with AI upscaling...
yes and a lot don't too
IJ is a full path traced game with every quality setting possible and runs fine at native
split fiction a coop title runs flawlessly etc
well on coops and single players I find AI upscaling and Frame gen to be more useful, then its slower paced games, but high paced multiplayer FPS it really doesnt work well...
it makes it look worse
no it doesn't
DLSS fixes awful TAA implementations
e.g. in 2042 or marvel rivals and improves AA massively
well the DLSS I used was on 3080, its the older version, but now I mainly use FSR, it just looks and feels better
uh yeah it definitely won't now lol
the DLSS 4 transformer model is strictly better than fsr 4 for 80% of situations
too bad its not open source, and it doesnt work on all hardware except for Nvidia's
FSR works on all though, but Im on RDNA 3
but I have a feeling AMD will make the next one open source again, they always had great support for that
have you not paid attention to amd's driver notes?
AMD Fidelity™ FX Super Resolution 4 (AMD FSR 4)
Support is exclusively on AMD Radeon™ RX 9070 Series graphics cards.
RIS 2 is rdna4 exclusive too
RIS2?
Radeon image scaling 2
ah
I know I had ddu software before but I can't remember what I specifically used.
It's so annoying.
?
thats the most commonly used DDU
I over thought what I needed like usual. Sorry about that.
What makes reflex 2 better by the way?
I didn't mean to break the convo
it uses frame warping
but it's not compatible with frame generation (currently)
it more or less single handedly eliminates input delay between click to screen time
it's kind of funny that rdna4 is such an uplift in architecture than rdna3 cards will be the worst aging generation ever in 5 years
5 years is enough time to use RDNA3 ^^
usually I upgrade after 5 years
it won't last 5y
RT performance is awful and it can't encode av1 properly at 1080p
good luck with that if you want to play any decent modern title
RT is becoming a mandatory minimum (already is)
not for the games I play.
I mainly play arma reforger and Arma 3
there's no RT on those
besides arma 4 is coming out 2027
RT will still be optional, knowing bohemia devs...
but that's a simulator, its different
100%
I only play multi-player/fps games my self
FSR 4 will never be supported by RDNA 3/3.5 or Nvidia/Intel because it requires RDNA4 specific hardware
it will never be made compatible for previous gens
not the case
FSR4 is trained on FP8 WMMA, this has existed on Nvidia GPUs since ampere
so it's entirely possible for it to be compatible with those and newer generations, just not previous AMD cards
that would be interesting to see FSR 4 used with Nvidia
Imagine having good AA in bf 2042
The one awesome thing Xbox does.
Nvidia using 3D silicon now
🎉 NVIDIA has achieved the world’s fastest DeepSeek-R1 inference.
👀 A single system with eight Blackwell GPUs in an NVL8 configuration delivers 253 TPS/user or 30K TPS system throughput on the full DeepSeek-R1 671B parameter model.

how much for a h100 again?
It's like double that right

I know they're obviously not comparable but the new mac studio indeed looks like it's good value in that aspect
Its nice that they make these but
How will you press buttons on it if you play with your feet
dude..
also more efficient
so saves money in electricity cost too
No GPU bracket sir toes ?
I'm gonna have to buy one
damn it beat me to it with that joke
i keep getting a script error every time the nvidia app updates
but it seem to update anyway
is this normal?
i think it has been happening since windows updated their methods of controlling security in the system
It's the normal Nvidia quality experience
i just ordered an Endgame gear OP1 8K mouse since my steelseries rival 310 broke
will come tomorrow
its supposed to be the mouse with the least latency according to rtings
its 8k polling tho, i will have to lower it to not get hiccups
lol
ye both my keyboard and mouse will be 8k polling lol
you basically dont need anything past 1k
i had to set my keyboard to 2k polling to not get hiccups
btw ive been thinking about something, it say that my gpu has shared memory from my system. but since its a 3090 with 24gb vram do i really need that? or can i reduce it to zero?
Shared memory is required, as data needs to be coppied from CPU to GPU to CPU...that shared memory acts like a buffer. Desktop memory is not unified.
aight
battlefield 1 closes on startup, any solutions? ive tried everything it feels like and it just refuses to work
it pales in comparison to the CPU cooler though lol
that CPU heatsink is a literal cube
That's the funniest fucking part
Like
CUBE
And BRICK
I need a GPU mount
no need for any mounts or cases, just have everything plugged in together on a non-conductive surface

that's what I said. reputable company over pure specs
nice foot

Can we please have a destructible dome building at a focal point in one of the new maps..It can’t be a mosque, because it’s unethical. The mono-phone can’t have the call to prayer but, it can be something cool. -good idea (@DICE)
bro is lost, doesnt know what channel hes in
my warranty drive in shipping limbo ..going well
Just because you arrange a turd on a plate differently doesn’t mean it’s different.
Holy shit this 5080 is efficient.
I went from 350 watts on my Gigabyte 3080 to just merely 230 on 2042 with my graphics config.
Just picked up my endgame gear mouse, took the store i bought it from less than a day to ship it here. Nice
ive set both my mouse and my keyboard on 2k polling each
that wont hurt a 5800x3ds performance, right?
It probably will
damn
they both can do 8k polling but i thought 2k was low enough
i got random stutters in some games when i had my keyboard on 8k polling
i havent noticed any of that so far tho
EU as always being based
if this goes into effect I might get a macbook, means I get a good experience without being deep in the ecosystem
am i the onlyone annoyed how EU try to force the free market too much?
tl;dr: they want apple to break up their ecosystem
Let third parties use their propeitary standard bs
nah let them fight each other like vultures, only benefits us in the end
or is it called open market? my english is far from perfect
Each company creating their own closed garden sucks
fr, airdrop being open to everyone only benefits us - the consumer
im glad they're forcing crapple to do something outside their garden
I sort of fear Apple lobbying hard in the US to get them to pressure the EU not to go through with it though
Let's just say I fear that more now than I did a year ago.. if you know what I mean.

what should we get for the eggs?
what?
what the EU is doing here isn't anti, it's promoting the free competition of trade
yeah im aware but they still force new standards upon apple etc which could slow down evolvement and new thinking
uh no
because what apple do isn't about innovation, it's about profit lol
tech companies don't exist for innovation, they exist to make money
besides, what this is doing is promoting competition, because app stores are closed wall ecosystems where developers are the ones who lose to the benefit of apple/google
interoperability is about working across other things
i just dont like the idea of a government forcing standards upon the market, but that could just be me
I'll put it in simple terms
you would prefer apple still selling iphones with lightning in 2025?
if you're against this, you're in favour of tech corporate monopolies
or making it hell for you to install an app that's not from their extremely locked down app store
seriously, apple make some really good hardware but despite that, they turn me, and many others off heavily from their greedy philosophy they employ on said products
how is it a bad thing they're opening up?

don't be surprised when apple mysteriously jacks up the price of their phones or removes apps you like because they have the power to
or pushes an update to make non-apple wireless audio products sound shit
yeah i guess you guys are right, i just like the idea of an open market where creative minds can florish
that's not how this works
the app market is not a open market, it's a closed duopoly
this literally pushes for more creativity though
apple and Google are the sole gatekeepers to billions of apps on phones, there's no open control
Apple can't just sit on proprietary standards now and lock out the competition from competing
they actually have to now... offer a good product with value against competition that now have an even playing field
oh they definitely can and will
do you mean my first point?
because yeah they've been doing that for the past 2 decades

yeah
they've done it before they'll do it again
I don't understand how you can be against this
nah just the idea of too much government control of the market is a bad idea, but if it favors an open market i guess thats good. im very tired, nvm me
I mean we all have a live case study of an environment where there's little to no government oversight and regulation on corpos going wild...
it's a nation that is commonly shortened to 3 letters...

certainly isn't turning out well for them there
I mean.. atleast from what I can observe
as if your country is all sunshine and roses right now
That's not true at all. COMPLETELY incorrect. The part about making money is true because every business is in business for a reason. But Apple is hands down one of THE most innovative tech companies on the planet.
The iPhone in 2007 being the first "smart phone". Wearables, ipad and Apple's focus on user experiences and design.
One could argue that everything Apple makes is born from something else. Hell the Mcintosh in 1984 was really born from Xerox. But what Apple excels at arguably better than anyone else is design.
.. ok?
Your statements sometimes bro....
this is about the app store?
Do you proof read them at all?
..
k
The rest of it. Couldn't be more incorrect.
so... instead of never innovating, they just haven't innovated in almost 20 years
very battlefield of them
Noone said they dont innovate either, this person simply is dumb
They said they dont innovate for any reason other than for profit/to extend their control
Can pretty much disregard BSoD says. He kind of just smashes his keyboard with his face to parrot anything Deco says.
Take your blinkers off mate and actually read between the lines for once
i wish i had a company that could cruise on good will from two decades ago
Don't we all....
lol
their platform is stable, thats why they can cruise. Lots of work to get there, and maintain that control without regulatory intervention
how did bro twist the convo this hard
these days not really. Apart from the M series of macbooks and maybe vision pro what can you name that you can call truly 'innovative' from them
they more succeed in perfecting existing solutions and only then releasing them to the market
But I mean.. they've guinea-pigg'd their customers a few times before. Most recently with the vision pro
They're doing abysmal with 'AI' too, to the point where they're performing mass restructuring of that department.
Apple is just meh.
the only good way to use them is to get them from a company without having throw money at them from your own wallet 😛
what's truely innovative now is Framework, the full DIY laptop
you cant do DIY repairs on macbooks, they're a pain.
framework aren't really innovative, many companies tried the whole pro-self repair/upgrade approach before with varying results. And as we can see with the un-changed landscape of laptops... said results were not good
I'd be interested to see where they end up in the next few years
Because I genuinely want them to succeed, but for now I'm not giving them my money, maybe not for the next 3 years atleast
I mean yeah but there's a reason why even people who didn't like mac in the past rave about the M series, they're just damn great all-rounders
So have you guys seen the concepts of the new iPhone 17
They are making them look like androids now
I’m just gonna stick to my 13
That can barely run Roblox
I think apple is leagues ahead of everyone when it comes to user experience
I'd be concerned if an iphone 8 didn't run something like roblox well
Apples iOS design is absolutely unparalleled and it’s the cleanest and most beautiful imo
I have a 13 mini
It has lower memory so I can’t put the graphics all the way up
I don’t play Roblox for graphics tho
I’ve never heard of that one
Sounds like some sort of ancient Mayan ritual or something not an operating system
true chads take the source code of fuschia before it was essentially abandoned and compile their own continuation of it

Ubuntu? Thats the biggest linux distro besides Android
True chads design their own from scratch
android isnt really a Linux distro though
its based on Linux
Try Linux Mint, its the better Ubuntu
I mean, it is, just distant from desktop distros
If there’s Linux mint is there Linux gum
LFS
the system that takes you literal days to install
I just use OpenSuSE
Just was talking mobile distros
though I'm in my distrohopping phase rn, I want to try gentoo even though there's no benefit to do so
it will be fun to install and learn more
Opensuse does have mobile but ye
but eventually I'll mature and stick with regular old debian like everyone else with a basic DE like gnome
I stick with a basic DE but not Debian 😛
Lizard
fish
I really liked the idea behind the Finnish Linux mobile distro of Sailfish OS
they used to work at Nokia
nope it has something to do with Linus Torvalds though
its a open source OS that you can do anything with, total user freedom
Its a kernel used by many distros to make a full OS
Linux is actually an acronym, stands for "Linux Is Not Unix" xD
they always have funny acronyms though like WINE, "Wine IS Not an Emulator" when it is actually a windows emulator
It isnt
No
bless him, kickstarted that and git
I dont really use Linux for much other than just for servers
they're great for servers
well fair, you don't need to pay for alot of em
for most things I just use Windows, but Im not a huge fan of windows forcing broken updates, at least there's incontrol, to take control of feature updates
@toxic wigeon glad youre enjoying the 5080 i got the 4070 super and love it im on am4 going to save towards am5 and then try to upgrade the gpu later on
Damn upgrading a 4070.
I go for the once every 10 year upgrade. Privilege to play doesn't exist they lose money for not optimizing as it should be
scored a 4080 super for 750. upgrading my friend's 3080ti
never settle for radeon muhaha
I knew doom eternal was optimised but I didn't expect it to be this well optimised.
Everything on the very best on native and my GPU is only sucking up 150 watts and keeping at my monitors limit perfectly.
Otherwise it's just 300 frames.
hey hey, I have bought battlefield V on the EA app, but for some reasons, when I start it (and when it finished downloading) my pc crashes and reboot. There is no temperature problem and no other issue what so ever, it's 100% linked to battlefield V and I could find many people on reddit experiencing the same issue.
Do you guys know anything about how to fix it ? I have already tried downloading it again, start is as administrator
i just bought the cheaper version of the event pass in bf2042, and when i get that level why it isint giving me the award?
Try restarting the game
Someone with a Debian 12 laptop here. I barely use linux,my new pc is wind🤮ws;but that is mainly bc software compatibility still is lacking. What even is the point of a different distro? Debian works fine for me,can run Terminal,Firefox, and Doom, and honestly thats all my laptop NEEDS to do
How did they make this better.. and lighter?

Or does it bring other cards to line
psvr 2 on PC still seems like the best comfort + value after the recent price drop?
Might be a personal issue but quest headsets front weight sorta ruins it for me
Psvr 1 was my first into to vr and it might have been TOO good
no, not immediately anyways
it's not out at all and game developers still need to implement it
It's essentially a thing that'll be better built in
yeah
It's one thing to make it a thing but it's another to actually incorperate shit around it.
fyi psvr2 is more or less abandoned on pc which is why the price is so low
don't expect things or games to work properly
Really? I thought with the adapter it would just function as a normal hmd now
Im fine with the vibration motors and all that extra stuff not being supported
it's not guaranteed to work because you need drivers for it, it's not just a dummy device, is the tldr
the long description is it has tracking issues in games because pc compatibility is/was an afterthought
you want things to work correctly the quest is your best option
well that's really disappointing to hear
yeah it's sad but not much anyone can do
it also doesn't work on Linux whatsoever because it's a exe and you can't run it through proton
Just want a good display without an entire OS in it, miss the rift s, index days
that weight distribution kills me in quest
I'll just wait to see what valve does next ig
Which is apparently also standalone 😐
you can get a meta quest without it, the enterprise version has most of the garbage stripped out, but it's like double the price as a result so pick your poison
I'm less concerned about the actual software, I just miss when the headset was nothing more than a display and gyroscopes/cameras
Lighter
Forcing a full android type os into them made it clunky
Big screen is there now ig
yeah fair

1998 Beats - Strange...
Anyone know if gsync and/or fps cap works with frame generation? 🤔 Would be interesting to know
yes
enable vsync and a frame cap in the Nvidia control panel specifically and disable vsync in-game, it will work with this
just as a tldr if it has DLSS FG then it has reflex aswell which is a auto frame limiter, so it's technically already being done
vsync will eliminate tearing and command gsync, it's the best possible vrr configuration
Been doing some reading about gsync alone, i have concluded with i wont be using vsync from nvcp but rather limit the fps within gsync limit.
Was wondering out of curiosity as of with frame gen and if i use fps cap, fg and gsync will still work. Maybe you already answered that but i just dont understand 🤔
Thanks for info 😄
From what i know you cant really vsync fg
🤷
vsync will work in conjunction with gsync, (in combination) with FG
they all work together, gsync is just a timing window for vrr
Ahhhh interesting, i suppose the vsync problem occurs with ingame vsync as it dont directly work with gsync right compared to nvcp one? 🤔
because FG is interpolation without vsync you'll get tearing in game because gsync doesn't actually command the frame timing, and yes correct, when it's enabled in game explicitly is when it fries
you should see a smoothness difference basically immediately
Interesting
What about fps limit instead of NVCP vsync, how does that go with gsync and fg?
FPS limits work in conjunction with vsync (and gsync), but it won't do anything with frame generation because when that's on (DLSS) reflex will auto activate itself and auto command the frame limit by itself
you can turn it on globally fine otherwise, it will apply to games universally
if a game has reflex it does nothing, if it doesn't it does something tldr
I dont think i understand sorry 😅 Let me ask other way, could i use fps cap in example ingame or nvcp without any issues with fg? My plan is to always have gsync with NVCP or ingame fps limiter few frames under gsync window
you can use the FPS cap in game or via the nvcp w/ the NVCP vsync yes without issues
Also, upgraded finally too high hz. Got tired of inputlag with vsync
Thanks for info
no worries
I think my rasp just took a shit while trying to build rustc on it
Wouldn't limiting fps with frame gen on potentially show you more generated frames than real ones
Things like that i was thinking too, so why i asked 🤔 But in the end, if image looks decent i wouldnt care that much tbh
Interesting question though. When i get the new monitor i will do some testing i guess from what i can see with my own eyes at least
Maybe vsync without gsync and fps caps was problem before, also could be fps cap never was problem 🤷 From what i have understood for the longest time is that was issue with fg atleast
ASR plugins will be released by the end of 2025 More open-source super resolution tech expanding to mobile devices. ARM ASR (Accuracy Super Resolution), not to be confused with Qualcomm’s GSR (Game Super Resolution), is a new upscaling technology for low-power devices. ASR was announced at GDC 2025 and will soon be available as easy-to-integrate...
My Battlefield V steam version keep crashing to desktop after a random amount of time
Lol. Temporal based upscaling for RISC's.
What has the world come to....
Nvidia Yesterday: "The way it's mean to be played"
Nvidia Today: "The way it's meant to be paid"
Especially love this dude blaming PSU manufacturers for their shoddy designs.
Novideo
Trillion dollar company btw
Pretty sure Nvidia doesn't care about some subreddit.
Unfortunately...
Actually, let me rephrase. We KNOW Nvidia doesn't care about a Subreddit, let alone the general consumer or "gamer." Those days are gone. It's all about AI and datacenters now.
No working drivers for you
literally just happened to me
Should've upgraded, would've saved you alot bro

5080 has blackscreen issues too

My PC can simply turn off because of this problem
it just turned off at a certain point and that's it
Driver: 572.83
laughs in AMD 😛
dont worry your future driver update will make you suffer too
no, frame interpolation is always a 2x ratio, frame limits don't affect it
as I said, enabling FG, will limit it anyways because reflex is auto activated
Does anyone know what reliable drivers there are for 4060?
566.36 should work fine
thanks
It seems there are no more black screens, thanks again
mid-range card bro, should've expected some rough edges

Where should one encounter black screen issues with the 5080?
old drivers or maybe certain games

Do we have the capability to exclude high ping servers from quickplay? I keep getting qued into +120ping servers in BF1
Yes select specific region should be like that
Oh I must have missed that option, is it as you matchmake or in settings?
Should be in server browser filters
hmm ill look into it, I didnt think you could choose that for quickplay
Dont think you can choose much filters for quickplay tbh
AMD CEO on RDNA4 says it’s the biggest Radeon launch based on first-week sales In an interview hosted by “Ordinary Uncle Tony,” also known as Tony Yu, the General Manager of ASUS China, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su answered some key questions related to the most recent AMD launches. Last week, AMD held a special […]
Not having vsync on in nvcp seem to give tearing
as i said before it has to be on in the nvidia control panel and off ingame
vsync works with vrr (gsync) to command the frame timing, FG will cause tearing without it as a result because its unbuffered
Oh it has to be. Maybe i misunderstood. Also it seems to go 4 frames under monitor hz, i tried only 3 fps with fps limiter

yeah (on) setting wise for vsync, the default is use 3d application setting, just change that
Already done that 😛
Seemed to fix tearing also, it automatically do the lower fps than monitor hz thing
Also no more vsync input lag 😩
Had to manually do it for one game, instantly halving latency. Maybe cause no reflex 🤷
It did cause some juddering i think it would be called, not like full stutter
@pale quartz sorry for the ping brother. What do you think would be a good cpu to handle streaming and recording at the same time? A 9800x3d or 7800x3d
see the discussion yesterday about reflex
frame generation enables reflex which will auto limit the in-game frame rate
so the FPS cap will never apply, it only will when it's not used and/or MFG ratios are higher
Yeah kind of what i was refering too
you're not going to be able to do that on any of those, what are you saying, CPU encoding for the streaming? you should be encoding via the GPU
I personally do RAM encoding
Those are functions that the GPU does, unless you're using inegrated graphics for some reason
Okay sorry about that. When I'm streaming and try to use my replay buffer tool in obs my stream randomly goes down to 5 fps so I thought maybe it was a cpu issue
what GPU do you have?
and CPU for that matter
4070 and a 5800x
you should be fine but your OBS settings may not be configured correctly, or you're trying to stream at an extremely high bit rate/resolution, what is your OBS configuration settings
no it's possible via the processor, it's just extremely expensive
I have everything standard but Mt bitrate is 8k
then you're not on optimal conditions
you should be using the nvenc av1 codec
Okay thanks deco I'll try that out now
set the recording profile to av1 and lower the bitrate, 8k is very extreme for av1, 6k should be more than enough, and enable adaptive bit rates
Wait my encoder is on envec h.264
yeah that is the default, nvenc av1 needs to be selected
to stream in hevc/av1 you'll need to use OBS with twitch enhanced broadcasting
Okay I see it and am gonna set it to that
for YouTube streaming av1 will need to be selected with RTPS on OBS
in general with av1 you shouldn't need a bit rate higher than 5k because it's much better than h264, but adjust and experiment as needed
But that will keep my video source quality at 1080 right?
hi guys i load into a server and im met with a black screen with aduio in the back that doesnt change doesn anyone know whats going on?
yes
@sleek wraith
source quality doesn't change it's just a much higher quality codec
Okay I'm gonna try it all out now. Thank you @pale quartz
no worries

Right, I was thinking also budget
Deco I need help, what’s a decent 750W PSU nowadays? I’m very out of the loop on what companies are trustworthy with PSUs anymore
Looking for only a Gold certification or so it’s for my bro, his old PSU had some caps actually explode the other night and fill the room with smoke
seasonic and corsair rm series
Yo, I know I am extremely new here, never talked and all but I happen to know that zachs tech turf has a exceptional tier list over on https://www.zachstechturf.com/psutierlist
I'd say corsair yeah
Corsair have been my go to in the past but I’ve heard dodge things about their other stuff (cases especially) in recent years, not sure if they’re cheaping on the psus anymore

Anything seasonic and gold rated or higher, or anything Corsair gold rated or higher (Corsair gold rating stuff is also Seasonic)
any specific requirements, such as 12vph/12vx6 etc?
Nah it’s an old machine with a 1060
I’m getting a 750W as he’s understandably paranoid after having one blow up on his desk
A 550w one would do fine
anything then would mostly be possible, but youll want a decent one for that, they're built to last, but also can cause things to go haywire as your brother found out if its ass, general recommendations are the rm850x for my standard suggestions
I’m thinking a corsair RM750e
He definitely doesn’t need an 850 750 is already overkill
not what you think
with wattage there isnt overkill because they draw less power the higher the max wattage is, which is what the efficiency rating of gold/bronze etc mean
Yeah that’s why I’m going for the 750
rm750e is atx 3.1, so its not compatible
nope it uses 12vx6 not the 8 pin connectors for a 1060
I assumed it had both WTF
do you mean the 2023 or 2021 model?
ah nvm then it will work its the 2021 (only), the 2023 rm750e will work fine
Ah sweet
its atx 3 cert even, so it'll work with newer ones aswell
That’s what I figured with it, he’s got a lower and machine so it’s good to get something he can still use if he upgrades in the next few years
yeah best thought process
It’s weird this is the first time I’d seen a larger cap explode, quite a lot of oily liquid came out
yeah the bronze shitty power supplies are mostly sitting explosions waiting to happen
barely if any QA testing
I remember people pairing the GTX 1060 with 350-400 watt PSUs

ASUS confirms changes to PCIe Q-Release Slim mechanism, no recall planned While we didn’t need confirmation from ASUS, the facts and pictures speak for themselves. did they really double down on this?
I mean. The 1060 only draws a max of 120 watts. A 350-400 watt PSU is more than sufficient for that. Who the hell overclocking a CPU paired with a 1060?
God I miss Pascal though
Fx-9590 + GTX 1060

GTX 1080 Ti is still Nvidia's best GPU they've ever made
🤦♂️
tbh lots of people were buying a GTX 1060/RX 580 for FX based systems
Didn't realize people actually bought Bulldozer.
In my opinion, AMD's last CPU before Ryzen that was worth a s**t, was the x6 1075/1090T Thuban core
Fx-8350 was sometimes as cheap as a dual-core i3
Bulldozer really hurt AMD Huh.
I'm finding old sentiment about their phenom processors
Apparently they were good?
They were competitive then crumbled for quite a while
Before striking back with Ryzen which saved most of the company
the red empire strikes back
back then, Radeon had buggy drivers and no unique features
biggest jump in Nvidia marketshare was with GTX 900 series
11% gain from 2014 to 2015 lol
Too long ago for my memory

I need help
I just got battlefield 4 with the ultimate shortcut bundle (BC I don't wanna have to grind again) and I keep getting insta banned or kicked from servers what do I do
Having the same problem on ps5, nothing happens at all when I try to join a server
I got a temporary solution, join through the server list and there’s a high chance u will get in a game
Could a Nintendo switch run Roblox
So is that a yes or a no
id like to have a word with youtube's page design team.
watching in theater mode shoves the comments aligned all the way to the left ugh.

apparently after april amd says supply will be better?
I've been seeing actual msrp pricing for the 50 series online too
almost as if when there's competition you can't rip off the market as much
Haven't seen a single one at msrp myself
Hyte the company that makes pc cases just increased prices because of the tariffs. Thank god I purchased the y70 infinite last year when building my pc
The pc case I got was 380 last year
Now it’s 440
I was about to say the prices weren't that bad then i read the ones further down the list

Awesome!
I’m getting worried that this will start messing with other tech companies
Especially on cpus and gpus
who would have thunk, end users end up paying tariffs not middlemen
$440 for a case
It’s a big case with a touch screen
no no no it's just the first few months bro, wait it out, it will get better

Need as many screens as possible to screw up your circadian rythym
I'm sure having a half-naked gooner background on your tower is worth screwing up your sleep
I can’t afford even one of those fans you guys use in those gaming pcs
(The only gaming I’m doing rn is playing Roblox on my iPhone 13)
(I sold my ps5)

a fan can be under $20
or over $30 in Noctua's case 😛
best fans ever made, slient as hell
and its an Austrian product 😛
Well, you miss all shots you don't take
What's the harm in trying?

if Silence Is your main goal, if you want super cooling run some Iceberg Thermal IceGALE Xtra's "169cfm." Obviously you don't have run them full blast and they run quiet. But If you need the airflow these fans are jet engines. 4080s never gets past 50c. Just set up how you want in BIOS. Best fans I've ever owned.

genuinely great for setting up pcs for other people, remove all the bloat for them and then they can sign in with their own ms account later
Or maybe dont use Windows at all
I like playing games more than I like troubleshooting them, so my main rig will stay with Windows
next year is the year of the linux desktop it has to be

its silent when it needs to be silent, and it cools really well when on load, then its no longer that silent, Noctua makes great high pressure fans

over $2000 for mini-PC
this is why Strix Halo is irrelevant
uses 2+ year old GPU architecture and costs nearly as much as Apple M3 Pro/M4 Pro devices
I would rather buy a laptop or build my own desktop at that price point
did someone make a bad decision getting this mac and not the 16gb one
Pretty much on par with the Samsung 9100
Pretty impressive. Though I still think Gen 5 drives are pretty pointless upgrades over Gen 4
5070 Ti in stock too on Amazon if anyone looking. Though $999 for a 5070 Ti is absurd
insane my steamdeck wifi can download up to 500Mb,
while my 2017 pc on ethernet can only do 50Mb
do you literally have your pc on a cat 5 cable
Think of getting my brother a steam deck or a asus ally
Anyone else know better on the topic of these two choices
Never heard of the asus ally, sorry
Way better specs than a steam deck
When Valve releases steam OS you can slap that on there
Also the original Ally has some issues that Ally X fixed
Yeah get an ally X
Desktop RTX 5090 twice as fast as the laptop version The latter offers 50% at 1/4 of the TGP. There are hardly any sites like Notebookcheck that provide such extensive test results for laptops. 5090 laptop slightly faster than 5080 laptop
😴
Stupid that they can advertise them as the same thing
Nvidia: "If it's stupid but earns more money it's not stupid"
Both are power limited, so not much you can really do about it.
TLDR; Dont buy a 5090 laptop, get 5080 instead. (And make sure its a max TGP model)
50% slower at 75% less power (Than a desktop 5090) is pretty decent all the same
How are external graphics cards these days?
laptops with large graphics cards are just silly, seems way more reasonable if they actually work well
I have no experience with them. But id imagine the reason they arent more widespread is because they still arent amazing
They used to have the 'M' moniker to atleast make people have second thoughts
and now they removed that too
And make sure it's not from a oem like MSI too
Not just that, but the 5090 laptop version uses the 5080 die (same as previous gens)
NVIDIA launches Blackwell mobile on the very last day They said Q1 and the promise is fulfilled, sort of. It looks like the embargo on GeForce RTX 50 Laptop GPU-powered systems has been lifted. $4300 lowest price for a 5090 laptop
this makes MacBook prices seem a lot more reasonable
$4300+ for a laptop that's slower than a desktop 4070Ti

(not gonna tag) but its a cat 6 lol. my down up shows @ 900/900.
idk why its steam dl is so low. maybe my old motherboard is holding it up..
I slapped a samsung 990 pro SSD in here and it only did 66Mb just now
is that 66mb/s, or 66mbps?
because 66mb/s is 528mbps, about half of your current link rate
woops was spose to cap the B also. Steam shows peak was 66.6 MB/s
So on steamdeck it is plus 500 more MB/s
(now i gotta see if my SD dl shows MB later too ig lol)
I get close to 900mb using wifi
Hello, my friends! Let's hit 20K likes? Check out my website! https://enderman.ch
Today I am going to show you the new low Microsoft has reached. They put a OneDrive advertisement into a bugcheck. Absolutely baffling and disgusting. There is a way to disable that behavior via the registry editor, though.
Still got questions? Don't hesitate, sen...

Waiting for SteamOS wide availability and full dive VR
66 Mb/s = 66 Mbps
66 MB/s on the other hand

Just being annoying
I know

I nearly always get near my bandwidth cap when using Steam, so kudos to them
Microsoft store on the other hand..

Quite a bit of legit gaming news and Sony having their investor day or whatever today made me forget

total nothing burger, SKUs are mostly changed at the last minute

Its all fake
lol didn't read the article good one by them
Will be the new BF (labs) also available on newers MACs? OSX?
I would say 99% no. Basically no one wants to work on apple ecosystem support. Especially in the multiplayer/anti-cheat sectors
Yup, due to it mainly being ARM based, x86 stuff can run on ARM via emulator. However almost nobody is doing that for PC games at this time
Completely different architectures, the processors in smartphones are ARM based for example, there's even ones in servers and a variety of other stuffs.
Largest issues with gaming on ARM is graphics drivers, we don't even have stable emulators on Mali GPUs universally (Mediatek, Exynos)
Apple is absolutely speeding up ARM processor support for desktops and computers, but gaming is a far, far priority for them. It's actually 100% financial ruin for any game dev right now to focus on native ARM support translations from x86.
Only ones who can take the loss to show off, do so
Sorry for the novel, my word condensing sucks ass
i just hope so.. because Apple silicon is ramping on and they are becoming a "player" on this sector.. just saying.. i would love to avoid to buy a console only to play this new game ahahha
i consumed BF3 on my ps3 in 2011/12/13 so ..
Apple designs the best non x-86 processors and uses TSMC (world's best semiconductor manufacturer) which puts them ahead, most processor companies that aren't x86 just buy designs or authorizations from ARM itself.
Oh, I have an easy solution for you
Use a service like GeForce Now or any other equivalent
Just have decentish internet
so won't happen is the short answer, EA anticheat doesn't have support for arm, nevermind MacOS
it's not even possible to run it through emulation
The game will be rendered and processed on a giant datacenter closest to you, and then streamed to your Mac, with decent internet and low jitter, you can definitely play even FPS games without much latency.
Won't be pro level tho, can't beat physics.
Yeah this, it won't happen
caveat* GFN has time session limits for playing, but it's a decent solution for mac
Oh fuck I forgot they did that
though given how ass Mac is for their displays with latency I'm not sure? if you'd bother tbh
Yeah, they have excellent color calibration - But very slow refresh wise, let alone pixel response time
ok agree on GeForce Now
BUT there is a big BUT if they develop a way of using this game on macs there will be no reasons to use a service like GeForce Now .. so.. anyway nevermind ty for your time
if it doesn't work on arm, it won't be developed natively for Mac silicon, so it's a pipedream
Mac is a primitive ecosystem for game support
Just to tell you how it basically won't happen, We've had ARM processor support for Windows since like.. 2011
No major game runs on ARM, even on Windows
It won't happen
we will see
as an idea the game doesn't even work on Linux, on x86 platforms
it's windows only, and x86 (for that)
Apple tried already to break into the desktop gaming market, it failed and they don't even make up 5% of it for most titles
They're very solidly into mobile only
It's why they help devs use their stuff like SWIFT and offer partner incentives to be IOS exclusive
if you want to play it even on a steam deck you have to install windows
Basically don't ever think of Mac and Gaming to ever be together, unless you're wanting to play native IOS games
Not shitting on Apple, you can't even play Windows store mobile games on ARM Windows laptops ☠️
You have the best processor and platform available (for under a fuckton of cash) for media creation, AI LLM's and other stuff
Use it for that stuff, just buy a gaming PC for stuff like gaming, or GFN
because Power STATS on grafics if we are talking in RAW performance a macbook pro M4 MAX on graphics is equal to a Nvidia RTX A5500 Laptop
it's not
Yes, M chips are very fast, but they lose 30% minimum when translated to x86
i agree all games on "APPLE arcade" sucks
Usually it's 70%
the GPU for Mac is extremely bad in that it will absolutely kill your battery under any sort of sustained load
that's part of Macs design, but it's a big problem
i just want to play so...
they also failed to use the thunderbold port with external graphics cards
yes this is for applications specifically which are natively supported
ARM processors can give almost identical single core performance to x86 enthusiast chips, while drawing less than 25% of the power, but it's an entirely different architecture
battlefield isn't, you'd have to run it through emulation even if they ported support
which they won't
what if i'm using "Parallel" desktop to play
That's due to MacOS almost entirely dropping graphics driver support natively, unless it's an AMD Pro series
i saw some gameplays ... they looks ok
i see
games will boot with parallel desktop, but you will have awful performance
don't be expecting more than 30 frames
i see ok ok ty
Why go through all of this trouble? If you have a Mac you spent likely a decent chunk of change on it.
Your time has a value, just spend the $10 monthly for GFN and save up for an x86 PC for the stuff your ARM based Mac can't
agree
because i have max 100mb/s and 40ping
anyway we will see
That'll be very rough
fiber is a dream here in Italy ahhaha
just beware Mac displays for latency are extremely bad, so geforce now will be compromised as a result
if you go that route run it through an external monitor
Yeah, you'll be stacking latency on top of latency
Definitely, this also applies to Thunderbolt machines using external GPUs, but for a different reason
Game devs work with nvidia and amd to optimise the game around it yeah?
You lose performance bridging through to the built in display
yes
Yes
Card wise is obvious lol
There is a WHQL driver system that's been around for awhile, on an architecture that's been the standard for decades, for two companies who have been around for decades, in a market they have segmented themselves as dominant in for... You know where this is going
well "work correctly", is a better term, half of Nvidias driver patches are disabling things enabled in games by default or patching game bugs by themselves
which is why the database file is like 1gb in size
It's not Apples market, nobody in the non-mobile market games on ARM, nobody will optimize x86 games for ARM, as it'll require you to make entire driver suites for it
well i'm still waiting to have a 5k 120hz monitor on the market also for work purposes
That's been done for awhile
i'm hoping in 2026 with samsung's new monitor
iMac Pro display from like 2017
We're on 8K 120hz
Iirc, the new standards support it
You don't benefit from the PPI past a certain extent
5k form factor for 27" is rare, if at all beneficial* really tbh
the difference from 4k is basically nothing
326ppi is the limit the human eye can recognize pixels at from a foot away if you have basically perfect vision
i pref ppi on top of everything because i see really well i can notice the pixels on my 4k uhd display 27' and it's 1 m away from me
i'm a dreamer ahahah
who knows..
Won't matter anyway, all newer titles are forcing TAA
not anymore
Plus with DLSS and FSR being requirements due to poorly optimized stuff, you're already not running native
just use DLSS, it'll remove taa, easy solution
the transformer model is revolutionary in that basically any bad taa implementation is replaced
better than native, in some situations
Without googling can you give me an example of one game thats so badly optimized it needs to rely on DLSS to run well
Cities Skylines 2 was one
DLSS was added post launch tho
Brother, you seem knowledgeable on the state of the gaming industry, you can't tell me you don't agree that the average person running a 3060/3050 can run most of these titles without the help of DLSS
Yes, because a 4090 couldn't run it at 1080p
I'm genuinely serious
Although that's worst case for a title selection
3050 being an extreme low end part, yes. It will struggle. 3060 is mostly fine at 1080p medium settings tho
both are low end parts
Buy low end parts > get low end performance TBH
I'm aware, and I don't entirely disagree
Outside of path traced games, im struggling to think of games that have been so poorly optimized, that they needed DLSS to run tho
and path tracing isnt really an optimization thing TBH, its just extremely demanding and basically needs upscaling. Same as RT did back when 20 series launched
I ran a non-profit with nice bare metal boxes, also have been lucky enough to be able to afford top end consumer cards, most newer AAA titles cannot run past 1080p 60-80fps without DLSS unless you're literally at lowest, 3060 is the most popular card on Steam
Path tracing I fully agree on
I believe the 4060 is right now
I'm meaning these games being rushed and having non-compressed textures, and devs having to just force DLSS/FSR so it's working optimally
yeah even on that they can't be saved
monster hunter is the defacto example as of now
Didn't want to come off that you need high end hardware to just play, lots of people say they need a 4090 to game, when it's BS
3050 and 6gb 3060 wouldnt have the VRAM to effectively use DLSS
Isn't it the opposite? They need DLSS so that the textures aren't full size and filling the VRAM, and then relying on the small bus size to use system memory as a sub
2060 with DLSS makes some games functional, and they're all 6gb
Capcom with RE Engine are doing what EA did with Frostbite years ago. Pushing out more and more games using it, which really should be using another engine.
They probably dont have enough engineers on their RE Engine team actually updating and changing it for the needs of the devs
he's correct similar to RT DLSS/FSR requires more vram because it's another layer of computation in a game
MH Wilds should not run as badly as it does, looking the way it does.
Talking about VRAM. I'm really feeling the upgrade to 16 gigs.
the transformer model requires less additional vram than the CNN model for DLSS but there's still a vram penalty for using it
Oh, I remembered one game that needs DLSS. Ark Survival Ascended. It also forces broken Frame Gen enabled.
To be fair, these people are at a disadvantage anyway if they have only a 3060/3050 on these worst case games, DLSS seems to still give better performance
I gave a friend who had a 1660ti a 2060, it's only 15-20% faster in terms of raw raster, but with now having DLSS it was way better
It would be nice if the standard vram for the lowest end xx60 cards now was 12 gigs.
I just want devs to be given enough time to polish stuff ☠️
Yeah true though after getting 16 gigs FINALLY it's helped me understand that even if your performance isn't top notch it makes sure your games are relatively consistent.
I get there's more to it
But still!
Even if we all don't agree on stuff, this was a nice chat
Good to meet peeps who play BF that're into tech
speaking of vream, you lads think we're getting a 5080Ti with like 24GB of vram?
oh yeah I forgot the standard 5080 only has 16
good old non 3gb modules at the time for you moment
I just checked to confirm that and found this
256 people fell for that

You're lucky if you even get all the ROPS you paid for
Nvidia never misses a chance to have you hand over a kidney
This gen feels like such a non gen.
well this is going to be the future now isn't it?
I got the 5080 and it'll be good for waiting out for a 6080. Well. Hoping it'll be good.
We'll have to see.
Im not even thinking about future upgrades, cos 4090 still runs everything perfect 😄
5080 will last you a decade at 1440 high settings most likely
a decade?
4090 was the best value 4000 series card for awhile, it'll be a beast long term, just like the 1080ti
Might be a stretch depending on how badly optimized these new games end up being, but with DLSS + and XeSS/FSR working on all cards
I'd say it'd at least be a low-medium 1440P card a decade from now
Ah damn
AMD will spend 18 months getting it working on other cards, and by then Nvidia will go another 2 steps ahead
even if they "did" get it working it'd only be from ampere onwards that have support
it's trained on fp8 wmma that rdna3 doesn't support
If the 6080 isn't a substantial upgrade i guess 7080 (I'm coping)
6090 costing 5K aud being boosted to 10K AUD due to scalpers and demand.
I had a 4080 that I sold for cheap to a neighbor due to not being home often, now I'm using a 6750XT that I got for $200ish and I'm very happy with it
Pny 5090 for 10k wtf.
Oh yeah how good is PNY? I've been seeing positive reception over it
that's not the worst part, second hand market is around $6k roughly
so it's the actual market price
PNY has been around for awhile, any name brand OEM is fine tbh
generally a budget brand, especially their xlr range, they've had issues like a locked fan curve etc but they're "fine" mostly
Zotac/PNY can be a bit hit or miss on RMA's, but still better than ASUS on that front
Yeah i avoid ASUS like the plague.
the one thing you avoid Asus on is their boards
well they do make some good ssds
After seeing how they treated customers with warranty claims... Yeah I'm done with em forever
They're like Corsair to my knowledge, they don't use any of their own flash memory nor controllers
Not bad, but definitely upcharged
most don't realise but Asus boards are overvolted by default, so when you run at "stock", you're actually running a dumbass "overclocking" profile
Yeah, it's why they were literally popping some CPUs
and asrock by extension too right? from the article posted here today
which is how people magically get -20 PBO curves when all it does is bring it back to factory conditions
Asrock has become much better over time
Some makers have great boards, but those same makers can make shit boards
asrock are fine sorta, they have weird bios bugs on boards from time to time but id say fine generally
I'd love to hear you on your disagreements, they make excellent workstation motherboards which have lots of fancy features + IPMI for cheap
Their B550/X570 budget boards had better VRM's than MSI/Gigabyte
Although def not optimal
it's a industry wide problem*, because AIBs generally make fuck all profit on any board except the absolute high end halo models, so QA becomes second fiddle
I feel sorry for the guy in the hardware unboxed discord trying to get their 14900k to work exactly with the asrock board.
Most of the 9800X3D and 9950X3D that are dying are on Asrock boards.
MSI made the best B550 board for the price (Tomahawk) but the rest of them were C tier, each OEM makes a good board, just not always a good full lineup
Oh it was a troll 😦
they came out with a statement recently that one of them was from cleaning the processor would fix the problem, in the 9800x3d case specifically, but it could be a more wider problem, too early to tell for now
Over a hundred reported cases on asrock boards, so something for sure is going on
Id avoid them if youre looking at any newer X3D chips
I'm not informed on the newest Ryzen 9000 stuff tbh
I'm super biased towards MSI Motherboards.
I mostly just stick to MSI nowadays for boards
Would you get the 9950x3d by the way deco?
nah
it is "better", but it's not solved
My mate did what you did for the exact same reason.
the problem is as soon as you run anything in the background you will get a degradation in performance from the second cache being scheduled
it's a architectural issue inherently
and a deliberate decision by amd
Ah so it's like the 5900x issue, only instead of a CCX issue it's the second cache, and it's fuckin shit up
I appreciate the info btw
the 950x uses a dual ccd design but they're imbalanced properly on the cache, what is "supposed" to happen is it schedules itself correctly to either cache, the CCXs are the same, 8 cores each, they just have different cache layouts
The 5900X3D is such a pointless part. Essentially buying a 6 core gaming CPU
but that never happens in practice for a variety of "software prediction for loading is very difficult" and it causes hitching/microstuttering
inherently it's a design decision by amd not to put an identical amount of cache on either ccd, so it's not exactly a "issue", but rather just designed that way
I still really wish Windows had proper affinity memory. You could solve a lot of these issues with it
it'd still never really go away, they could mask it like they did with IF latency if it did I guess, but just a architecture limitation pretty much
Or just make a dual cached CCD CPU heh
medusa is from what I'm hearing a 12 core CCX design, so it shouldn't have this problem on the (900) range
Triple CCD cpu
3x CCD would be a good way to regress performance
well TR/NUMA already exists* so meh
Oh wait
So it's possible to go beyond 8 for a ccd?
Wait I wasn't thinking
Of course it is
medusa is 12 ^ apparently, from what I'm hearing
Yeah
medusa is zen 6
ehh it's possible, would they do it? nah, product segmentation
it would just be cutdown
I read segmentation as segregation.
Yeah that happens
It makes sense but it'd be super cool.
they "could" theoretically have the 900 range be the 16 core, but the ccx design for that with a 12 would be.. odd, to say the least
it'd have to be 2x 8
and the 950x would be 24 cores
I was always under the impression that the 950's had 24 cores.
