In fact I am already squeezing my budget more than I initially wanted by going for something like a 9600x and rtx4060. I was initially considering the ryzen 7600 and rx7600 but the total price for that (in my country, prices are higher here) was around 1,300usd and the total price of the same computer but with 9600x and gtx4060 is 1,500usd. The former was higher than I expected and the latter was lower than I expected, so I am thinking of getting that, which would be more than enough for my standards I think. Yes I could keep going higher and higher but that road will never end.
my current pc is an i5 8400 with an rx580 and to be fair it's mostly fine for me
the reason im getting a new pc is because my gf wants a pc so ill give her mine and get a new one, and since im there, ill aim to get something a bit better so it lasts a bit longer than my current one. So considering that mine is mostly fine for me, going for 9600x/rtx4060 i think would be a massive upgrade that wont need any additional upgrades in the future
now, if i get a 7800x3d instead of a 9600x, the 4060 might not be able to make that cpu show its full potential (or at least this is what i think. I am open to have my mind changed but it's hard to see proof for this), for which id need to get something better than the 4060 either now or in the future. Whatever the case, i dont think i want to get anything better than the 4060, not now, nor in the future, unless it's the far future where the 9600x/4060 becomes obsolete and it's time to get a new pc entirely again

the only thing I would absolutely advise against is the 4060, it's only a 8GB vram card and you are going to sandbag yourself a lot, get a 4060ti that has 16GBs of vram

could it be that generally speaking amd gpus are more accessible for gaming but nvidia are a bit more of an all round unit for other stuff too? although im seeing that nvidia might be a bit better for vr too. Im not an nvidia fan, i always only went for amd for the cheaper prices but from time to time i hit walls compatibility wise, and nvidia seems to draw less power which is something i care about because it gets pretty hot where i live so i tend to aim for low tdp hardware so im considering it. I dont have the budget for gpus of more than 8gb sadly so im debating whether to get rtx4060 or rx7600. The 7600 is significantly cheaper but it draws more power and is a tiny bit less powerful than the 4060 and the 4060 is also a bit better for vr afaik so i am tempted to go a bit higher and get the 4060. Does that make sense?

I say go for it. Worst case scenario, you need to buy a different case. Though from what I said, you're gonna want to pick up 3x 120 mm fans to replace the case fans that come with the Tecware Forge M2. Apparently the fans on the case have zero PWM and just plug straight into the case.
