It's super rude for Microsoft to push for a hardware update essentially when they're phasing out W10.
There's a difference between the future is now and that.
i mean plenty of people are talking about it
Microsoft clearly does not give a shit however so what do you expect anyone else to do.
because there is no good solution
they can not enforce it and the main reason it's done, malware, can infect users easier, or they can like they should have done way before windows 11
well i mean the solution is for AC devs to stop being such fucking dicks to linux users already but they're not going to do that
what do you expect them to do
Linux does not have a secure enclave
they can run in user mode and it's more or less not an anticheat anymore, which defeats the purpose
this is why i feel like relying on developer hosted servers, matchmaking, an not actually moderating servers are all a series of mistakes that have resulted in cheating being the way it is.
where lol because nobody is making that
to be quite frank if you're using hardware which is so old to not have basic support for things such as tpm you have a responsibility as a user to be aware of your own security because at that point you're already compromised, hardware doesnt last forever and Microsoft should have done it for windows 10, nevermind 11, it's way past the point of forgiving
apple are way ahead in this department with mandatory forced encryption for boot that can't be switched off but people are for some reason complaining when Microsoft is doing the bare minimum
TPM provides secondary benefits such as the inability to spoof hardware IDs, so you can't have it both ways with anticheats enforcing security and allowing users to have it off
for some reason
are you blind or are you stupid
not blind to anything
are you sure about that
I'm not gonna approach this by being a dick.
You know as well as I that windows is used by a very large number of users.
yeah and those users are who those target
if you think a normal user has any concept about tpm then you're missing the point, these changes are beneficial for normal users
Oh yeah I'm aware. No one cares about features people just want the OS.
they would be complaining if their 3rd gen intel processor was compromised in the same capacity, so there's no win win scenario
yes it's not convenient that old hardware gets scrapped but that's how it goes
I understand that too. I do wish there would be greater awareness of Linux and shit even if it meant it gave something for people to use.
Yeah
It's damned if you do damned if you don't.
This is purely a processor thing though yeah?
motherboard thing
Oh that makes sense
CPUs hold the TPM keys, TPM modules themselves are embedded on a motherboard
Side note i just wish w11 wasn't full of crap so I wouldn't feel so bad for using it.
Like the one drive crap.
the quality assurance has gotten quite bad over the last year for it, OneDrive etc are just your usual corpo stuff
Nvm updates re enabling things.
regarding the secure enclave it's not happening anytime soon, the closest is valve and they have no plans or developments for anything of the sort for their distro
First thing I literally went ahead when I got my system was use your one drive uninstaller.
Last time I tried to do that on my system manually without it it didn't work.
Does a Windows cleaner exists?
the registry keys change per update, so old scripts don't work etc
the one I done is quite old so not surprised
Oh yeah i was gonna say shit changes places and scripts won't work as well.
Oh nah wait I'll reword it. When I got w11 way back at June, I tried to manually get rid of one drive but that didn't work which is why i asked you much later. It still works thankfully.
ah gotcha
just the ecosystem of software that future proofing is kinda impossible, they normally stop working within a year or two to most degrees
He can still install windows 11 on an i3 6100
the end.
Question asked and answered.
That convo ended dude and you're still on it. Move on.
@toxic wigeon lmk if it doesn't work eventually I've not ran it in a while, probably will fry sooner or later
One to two years that's not too terrible. Sounds annoying but still.
Yeah I'll let you know!
Revo Uninstaller is actually pretty solid.
Has several Windows tools built in
eh yeah just how it goes
in other news it's exactly what I said it was
Oh wow.
Oh fuck what's a good thing for monitoring cpu temps again? Afterburner doesn't see my 9800x3d
@pale quartz
uh you can use hwinfo64
Perfect. Thank you.
Aren't the devs underpayed or some shit?
nah the developers for it are based in Russia and there was a whole situation where they weren't getting the contracted rate by MSI due to sanctions, that was a while ago it's probably just not been updated for compatibility
Oh yeah i remembered that part. Unfortunately I was thinking of it being a situation like with wilde
nah nothing like that it's a independent albeit contracted piece of software
outsourced ig is the correct term
Should I look at getting a faster ssd by the way? Or should I wait for that much later?
well which one have you got
My ssd does its job just a matter of going to buy a second ssd should it be faster or a duplicate.
980 2 tera pro for its boot
980 pro is fine unless you've got a PCIe 5 board it doesn't make that much sense, ig if you're considering it you can do so (or planning an upgrade as Blackwell is PCIe 5) but depends what your plans are
Yeah fair.
mostly depends on the price of whatever drive you're considering
It's not a priority just a thought
yeah I mean the one you've got is fine don't see much reason to switch over
the only reason I got the gen 5 4tb was cause it was cheap
I'll probably retire my sabrent drive eventually saying that
I'm not regretting it but I wish I put a little more thought into the motherboard cause gen 5 would have been a good one to go for. But oh well, I can just take advantage of gen 6 in a few years time.
eh just the luck of the draw, x670e isn't cheap and neither is x870
they've also got insane chipset power draw so you pick your poison
yeah no reason it won't
main "bottleneck" for drives are the amount of lanes they have rather than the advertised bandwidth at this point anyways
7950X3D had only 120W TDP and freqeuncy/voltage limits, meanwhile 9950X3D is 170W TDP and has no limits whatsoever
curious about overclocking capability
going to be pointless
lol
similar to the 9800x3d it's bound by memory
cache doesn't care much about clocks right
it does just there's nothing to gain to a degree that matters
the performance is CL/frequency bound rather than core clocks
no idea on if medusa has a reworked IOD as of now
who knows, for now assume it's not on AM5 platform wise though
uh yeah would never happen
you'd need cross compatibility with DDR5 because of the chipset
I mean they literally are giving you an option to update to 11 without TPM 2 now
just not the full 11 experience though
But hey, atleast it's something
no they're not
the support document just highlights what happens if you do, there's no instructions to do so, the pc world article was wrong and those instructions were always there
unless you're referring to LTSC home/pro there's no sanctioned way to
oh, you mean the articles that stated they allowed for updates without the module but without any OTAs afterwards?
Oh
the author cited fake info the support doc never gave any such info
and warning on what happens has been there since it launched, isn't anything new, just the usual tech reporting nonsense
other than the 30-40% performance drop it's a awful idea because your updates will eventually break in addition
honestly W11 isn't that bad at all. Except basically further accelerating the death of the control panel and copilot garbage
The taskbar control centre it great and they finally added the calender back from w10, my only gripe
ah, so that's the part they misquoted
Instead claiming that they just won't allow for OTAs
yeah
Imagine using windows
Don't have to imagine. It's not perfect, but it's the best we got.
i tried to plug in my new samsung oled monitor with a displayport instead of hdmi, and it makes the screen corrupt and crash the monitor after a while. with other words its faulty. i dont wanna do the hassle to contact support and put the monitor back into a package and wait for a new one. should i just ignore it and use only hdmi and be happy?
π
it will take forever
Try another cable and another device. But if it still happens you already listed your options and there is no good option.
Might wanna ask Samsung if theres a firmware update that fix it
#sadtimes
sadge
You should definitely try a different DP cable if you haven't already
i only have the one that followed with the monitor
but sure ill buy another one
wait ihave another old one
idk if its rated high enough to support this monitor tho, its already over regular specs
360hz
1440p
fcking hell. it seem to work on dp now
they sent me a faulty cable
that was it
nice
thanks arc

Didn't I tell you to do that? π
Also, remember to tell Samsung / the place you bought it for the chance of a replacement cable.
oh right u told me to try another cable aswell, im blind, thank you too carbo
haha
speaking about the monitor, the 4k version of this monitor was just officialy added as gsync compatible with the latest nvidia drivers
what are the chances that the 1440p one will aswell in a later one?
pro tip, always buy your samsung stuff from their official site, you get rewardpoints that you can use as money on a later purchase, i got a 120euros worth of points from this monitor that i used to buy a smart watch
you sometimes get longer warranty aswell
o\\ is not a valid command.

So i just got my galaxy watch, not sure what to do with it lol, just been switching music on spotify so far

Just like buying my xp laptop
I mean if anything needs serial its a good base station for that
i wonder if i could use my watch to take controll over my computers spotify and switch songs easily on the go
that would be cool
having people over and just tap my watch to switch song
I do that
Start it on the computer, then start spotify on the watch. As long as it's the same account and network it should work.
ye i cant find spotify on my watch, but when im running it on my phone it shows up
ill have to see if i can install it seperatly
My pixel 2 can install it
ye i pressed install spotify on the watch but it keep saying waiting to install
i havent figured out how this works yet
Charging the watch while installing sometimes help
now it say installed, its not as fast as my s24
lol
aw yeah
it works now
i can controll my computers spotify
theyve even added a button for the dj, which took them ages to add to the pc client
it was only on the mobile app first
lol
i think i made someone upset in the spotify discord by mentioning the dj btw, i talked about it and someone came in asking how they start it, i said just press the green circle if you have premium. he said he didnt have any. later a mod came in and said its not out in every region yet
lol
Sus?
Dude I'm sorry because you capitalised "SUSE" I had a complete mental blankout.
Maturing is going back to the ol reliable instead of the bleeding edge for distros
atleast that's what someone told me once
OpenSUSE has been so reliable
question, does anyone know or have a fix for this crashing issue, i play bfv and bf2042 on xbox gamepass and when i download the game, it lets me run it without crashing and i can be in the main menue but right when i hop into a game a few seconds later my game crashes and takes me to the ea launcher it doesnt even give me an error code. Can someone please help ir eally want to play my favirate games and it didnt even happen before, i tried a few fixes like going into the game codes restarting pc reparing the game and stuff but i just cant seem to get it.
hellloo I just downloaded 2042 and am getting this error: DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with

its a heart rate sensor
you can just order them off Amazon they're not that expensive

Rich people can use their kids to harvest fluids but if a poor Americans can't find adequate housing they lose their kids instead of having housing secured for them πΊπΈ

yeah, unwilling blood donor

Fuck having my life extended.
World is too dogshit to live in so I may as well play the course and die when it's time up.
And what emotional effect will this have on his kid? "My dad was so close to discovering immortality. Maybe if I have two kids donate me plasma, I can succeed where he failed"
You never know. The kid might fare better as he's always regenerating new blood. (The goat eating the leaves and coming back stronger kinda deal but we aren't plants nor am I saying this is good to any degree)
eh, I don't even mind about the fluid loss. it's just engaging in that behavior to honestly try and attain immortality. cringe.
Yeah.
anyway, before I go full rage mode. I got my 3 way-splitter for my AIO fans today. one of the pins broke off of my last splitter. good day!
Crazy
I am thinking about getting some top fans for my pc.
The thing that annoys me about PC components is that they (can) utilise software bloatware for you to control it other than a universal Windows app.
I get bios settings and all.
only program i use is FanControl. i don't think it's bloatware, but I could just be an ignorant fool
I think it's cool but on another end like really?
It's like like uh
Corsair ICUE
Unless you are actively using it yourself.
That make sense?
when I installed my splitter, I fully disabled RGB in my case when I ripped out all the SATA connectors. So yeah, it makes sense. I hate running software.
there is no iCue in my system. I made custom curves in FanControl and it loads up when I start windows.
have to sets of 3x120 mm fans for aio, two spots on motherboard for CPU_fan and optional. 3 case fans also go directly into motherboard.
i will never get anything with icue, ever.
What da fuck
One of the things I wish I could do is use my GPU as the front fan for my pc as dumb as that sounds.
I'm literally looking at getting a wooting keyboard purely to avoid bloatware.
Since you can mess with it online.
that isn't dumb. that's what my AIO is. it is the intake for my computer lol
Yeah exactly which made me think hmm yes I would love a watercooled pc but then it's like an extra 25% on top for gpu price ahaha
nah. my gpu is air cooled. i'm not a rich boi
4090 is 3000 aud here and a watercooled variant 4000.
I should have specified gpu but yeah.
I prefer air.
For... obvious reasons.
My fan cooler popped off a few months ago and I was wondering why my CPU was overheating.
The heat sink alone kept my CPU "cool" enough for 2042.

bro
Oh damn, is that the asuka one?
Yeah the evangelion one.
You could buy 4 4090s with that money!

It's so funny going into the drink shops and seeing their thousand dollars bottles for a dollar off.

I'm wondering if the 5090 will fit in my pc.
And I hope I won't be affected by the tariffs even though I'm in Australia.
Everyone will be affected
Oh wait too political
Pretty much
all I do is game. I'll worry about getting a new video card in like, 6 years maybe if I'm not dead.
PC's feel like an investment.
When I got my 9800x3d I literally noted oh I won't have to do anything until 2028.
And even then I might give it more time cause my living circumstances will be different.
4 years is a bit too low don't you think? The 7800X3D is still an amazing deal, hell the 5800X3D is too.
And amd recently released refreshes of those too
i put a ryzen 5 4500 in my kid's computer. it's more than adequate for gaming.
and it was like, eating out money
thats how i feel with my 5700x3d as well ^^
Oh dude your younger family members are bins for your hardware it's funny. I plan to do the same for my nephew.
Kids usually play stuff that's not too intensive anyways.
you have all those? care to share? π

i have it too on 5800X, just checked. Seems like it's just different sensors on the mobo
It just means the sensor is giving additional data iirc. Nothing special about the cpu itself.
Maybe meaning it can be overclocked or something since you mention that.
thats a really good looking jacket tho. i kinda want it

I wonder, for construction how useful would this be
Damn, crazy
5090 will have a 16+6+7 power delivery design and a 14 layer PCB
lol
Already "listed" for $2600, though that was a chinese site not accounting for VAT
So if remotely true on pricing. $2200 "MSRP". Likely $2500+ 3rd party. $3000+ at launch for scalping.
What a time to be alive.
Isnt it rumored to have 32gb of vram aswell? Who really need all that, a 5070ti will be more than enough
it has 32 yes
it's not particularly designed for gamers, more users interested in AI inference
you may think it's a lot but it's really not that much when you're talking hpc vram parts
Yeah i meant for gaming
5070ti with 8gb?
papa jensen tells me thats enough
8gb? Wont it have 16 aswell
one could only hope but wasnt that the joke last week nvidia trying to say 8gb was still enough
What gains will it have over the 4090? May you as well just get a 5080?
roughly equal to the 4090
and no, because the 4090 has more vram for 4k textures
16gb can and will be maxed at 4k
To be fair the 4090 was such a substantial boost in power i still can't comprehend it so.
Like i know differing factors but what should be the boost over the 4090?
Err
4090 to 5090.
about 30-40% depending on the workload
Nvidia cucking vram once again.
Ah yeah
You said more AI focused so it's like well fuck. I'm not gonna be using half those features.
no you'll use them because Nvidias featureset for AI is more than most realise at this point, DLAA, is AI, etc, so you'll use it
While I'm still up for getting the card i just don't see how I'll use it all up. I hope they can use AI to reduce power.
Oh right dlss is ai
yes
I have no idea about if the neural rendering is real or not the engineers I speak to aren't privy to that
To be fair as well since you said it wasn't particularly designed for gamers it just sounded like a card not for me.
I hope it'll be a good card though for both sides.
if you're buying a 5090 you care about 1 of two things;
1; running games at max detail for 4k
2: wanting to do some pseudo-AI tasks which it itself isnt that particularly great at like deep learning because it's vram is tiny compared to what you require for that
it'll be the best card in the consumer discrete space for gaming, so it's the best "good" you can buy
The more realistic use case, due to the popularity of extreme high hz OLED panels
- Another 3-4 years of max settings high refresh rate 1440p gaming.
Yeah I hope to get a dedicated 4k monitor after getting the card.
On 1440p that shit will last forever
But extreme bottleneck.
people can talk about how expensive it is and it doesn't matter because it will sell no matter what
But hey ultra pretty!
I just can't believe how quickly it sells out.
at 1440p you will be CPU limited way before GPU limited
Though I think people buy it en masse and or purposely scuffed supply
Have nvidia start doing display in, and take all the capture card companies business haha

Seriously though was the 4090 really that popular or was it bought en masse as you know? Or even just scuffed supply to keep the value up @pale quartz
You're sorely mistaken if you don't think it's not "targeted" for gamers. There's a reason they put GeForce on the box. You don't think Titan was the same way? Was never meant to be a gaming GPU, but Jensen knew what he was doing. Once he slapped Geforce GTX on the box, it became a gamer GPU instead of a high compute GPU.
its not targeted towards gamers, because gamers dont have any other option
so your argument collapsed in on itself?
...
Steam HW stats last month
4090 at 1.01%
7900XTX at 0.44%
RX 6800 at 0.22%
7700XT at 0.16%
All those AMD cards together account for less users than are running 4090s...the halo product from Nvidia
the xtx was about half what a 4090 cost at launch aswell
4090 is positioned as "The best consumer card money can buy". that encompases gaming, AI, compute, encoding, ETC. Its not especially targetting "Gamers", it just is the best gaming card.
I'm sad that the XTX was just plagued by annoying drivers.
Its a good card on paper but goddamn.
The point is. "Gamers" want the best money can buy. Does that mean every consumer? Obviously not. Not everyone can afford a $2,000+ GPU. But those who can want the best. In teh case of Ada, the 4090 was the only GPU worth a damn in the entire Ada lineup. The 4080 and below simply didn't make sense price wise. Anyone who knows a shred about PC hardware knows that and bought the 4090. Nvidia purposely gimps the lesser SKU's and still charges a premium for them when they match previous generation performance at best. The 90 series is absolutely targeted at gamers with the cash for them after Nvidia did away with Titan branding.
The card boosting itself and crashing was a sight to behold.
AMD has been plagued by bad drivers since the Radeon days....
Yeah I'd buy one for running a huge contextual-window model locally
This. Lmao.
if only I had that kind of money just lying around though
yes money is the be all end all
Turns out gamers don't care about pricing
PS5 Pro sales are in and it sold very well according to Sony
theyve not cared since turing that was over a half a decade ago too
"no one will buy $700 console lol"
That might be the fancy language their marketing team came up with. But we all know who is actually buying the GPU's. Steam Hardware stats alone prove that. Anyone who is need of a high end compute GPU is going the Quadro route instead.
"$350 upgrade" you mean
Totally worth it for Bloodborne bro
, that will be ps5 pro exclusive obviously
I bought one. But I sold an Ally X to get it. I was never going to use my Ally X again since I'm no longer going on deployments and retire in just under 3 years. I mean lets be honest. The extra cores in the GPU isn't noticeable. We're paying $200 more for another terabyte of m.2
imagine paying all that money for a souls slop game
Hell in most cases, the PS5 Pro has negative scaling
Unless the game is specifially optimized for it, the performance actually drops in some cases.
but bro, fromsoft are such underdogs, AAAAAAA developers. Japanese devs that put the west to shame
insert the cringe is too much gif
I'm waiting for the ally 2 honestly.
don't go to certain 'gaming' communities because that's how some people legitimately think
I personally hate Darksouls/Soulsborne games.....Insert obligatory "Git Gud" comments. I hate how difficult those games are and get zero enjoyment out of them. But I do see where people enjoy them. What I give From Software credit, is their games are polished. Like them or hate them, they jsut work. There isn't "day one patches". There isn't jank, or performance issues. They just work.
False. It drops because of incompetent developers, not the hardware
Lol, so.....
Not false?
You are saying the hardware itself is causing games to have lower performance. Not true
I didn't say anything about the hardware. I just said it gets negative scaling in some games. And yeah I believe that to be lazy development practices
Stupid developers putting out bad patches, pushing the hardware too much is causing frame drops
You literally just said
"Hell in most cases, the PS5 Pro has negative scaling"
All the pro improves is the GPU, so CPU limited games will see next to nodifference
It does. The quote stands as correct. And I'm agreeing with you that it's not necessarily hardware related.
It's just like PC gaming. PC hardware is infinitely stronger than an Xbox or Playstation.
Its entirely not hardware related, as base games will always run the same , or better on the pro
like every time?
how much more UE5 slop before devs get it right
ue6 will solve all π
5 years when UE5 is actually optimized and not merely "Production ready"
God I hope soon. Global Illumination > Ray Tracing
send those light rays through the solid wall baby
if i could go back in time id pre order stalker 2 5 years ago when it was supposed to come out, just to have that feature in muh game
I mean we still get UE4 games and they perform like shit so that 5 years is probably the minimum timeframe tbh
truth is, that engine just isn't the best for open world.
Atleast what I feel
Its the devs, not the engines fault. You wouldnt blame the hammer for breaking a window, you'd blame the person holding that hammer
I know that GI can use path tracing. The two aren't necessarily oppposing technologies. But Global Illumination uses far less resources, and produces better visual fidelity.
Jedi Survivor is still garbage in performance, almost 2 years from launch

It still needs updates
UE5 can be very performant, and look great...if developers spend the time to optimize, and stop just using stock blueprints/features.
I don't even want to know what Jedi3 will look like on full on UE5
Can we all just acknowledge that Ray Tracing was always, and will always be a gimmick? There's a reason most developers didn't jump on that bandwagon. I can't wait until UE5 becomes better optimized.
EA better not believe if the new director acts like the old and straight up lies to them on the state of the game so they can cash in quicker
But as UE5 is constantly changing, and users/managers want the new shiny stuff in their games...a lot of dev teams are forced to add this not so ready for production stuff to their games.

I quite enjoyed Jedi Survivor.
Yeah it was an amazing game, as a sw fan it felt like a game from the LucasArts days with how feature-full it was
But I'd be lying to say if the game ran buttery smooth
Let's be honest. Jedi Survivor is the only reason EA still has Disney/Star Wars license permissions.
Make frostbite great again
The game is still a stutterfest in some areas of the worlds. Respawn's response was: "yeah ok whatever"
Hey I liked Anthem!!!
runs and hides in the corner now
that's not really how the license works
But I blame modern game development for why they cancelled the Mandalorian game

those poor devs being forced to work with frostbite
atleast we are getting Titanfall 3 again I suppose
Nah, Battlefront did really good for what it tried to do. There was a lot of focus on the bad things about the games that the good were largely ignored which was a shame. The photogrammetry they used while still achieving good performance was really something.

With a 5090 i can finally play a UE5 game at a constant 60 FPS.
Perhaps. But after that Battlefront 2 abortion, Disney was actively looking for any other developer/publisher to make games.
oops sorry, looks like its apex 3 this time
-# *Without raytracing on
-# *With DLSS3 Frame Gen

Yeah and they aren't really getting far much with that right now. EA is kind of still their best option for AAA lol
Outlaws certainly wasn't the hit Ubi was expecting it to be
Eh...Tomato Tomato. The backlash for the egregious lootbox debacle overshadowed anything good about the game.
I long for the days when new tech were introduced by DirectX and thus covered all brands. The Nvidia specific tech is getting a bit much, especially since it's outdated almost imidiately.
For real for real
Disney need to cut down those egregious fees. That's likely the main reason why they cut it. Too expensive of a risk if the game didn't do insanely well, which is the only way they can even break-even with these ballooning game costs
In seriousness I hope there'll he a larger focus on making older games compatible with modern hardware and operating systems.
indeed
I wouldn't mind shelling 20 bucks for mechwarrior 1 to 4 if it meant I could actually play them.
Mech 3 crashes at start up.
Spider-Man 2 is absolutely partially coming earlier because spending more than $300mill and keeping the game on a single platform is not sustainable in the long run.
Unfortunately it's Ubisoft. Kind of always in the same boat as EA. People love to hate their games regardless of if their ACTUALLY good or not. While good is subjective, we're in this new age of bashing on games and it's a relatively new trend to review bomb games. Star Wars Outlaws is actually pretty fun.
Are the mechwarrior games under the same publisher and relatively same agreements with platforms? If so then that could happen someday
Old armored core games are in license hell from how fromsoft gave publishing rights to just about anyone who accepted it from them.
And now that 6 was a success, getting those rights back will not be very cheap..
They gave out rights to Sega, EA, Ubisoft, 505.
Yeah I've seen gameplay, it looks fun. Worlds look beautiful and immersive, as expected from massive. But in this day and age, publishers just can't afford to have games that are 'just fine' and perform 'ok' unfortunately
@brave sundial Activision published mech 1 and 2. Hasbro published mech 3 and Microsoft published mech 4.
GOG has lots of good ideas. The problem is that it's very hard to break through Steams monopoly. Just see the The Epic client.
All of them have been under different devs too.
Back in the PS2 to 360/PS3 days yeah, we had like 8 star wars games coming out every year. Alot of them were mediocre
Mech 5 has been published by PGI.
It's unfortunate that most developers aren't willing to take risks either. If a game isn't a massively MP milsim, Battle Royale, or established RPG, then it's ineveitably going to fail....
What we need is for Twitch to die.
Well Microsoft owns 3 of them now. I could see it happening maybe under them. Hasbro, I doubt care.
That's the problem with most games today in my opinion.
so hey, it could happen I feel
Look at Call of Duty. It's been the same game since Modern Warfare 2007. It hasn't changed a single bit.
I get the whole "if it ain't broke...."
But man. Goes to show that developers don't WANT to take risks anymore.
Who knows really. Nobody really cares about mechwarrior any more sadly.
Well I don't mean to be depressing.
But it's a very old franch
Cries in Hawken....
I wouldn't say it's twitch, more like a byproduct of that. Main problem kind of is.. pressure from being publicly owned
ac shadows will likely underperform
That and with Japan theme it has too strong concurrent with ghost of tsushima and the upcoming title
A remake of ancient rome would have been cool in odyssey style

3D ram when
Or HBM/HBM2
I want 4D RAM. I want the ram to be able to look into the future what I'm going to do, an load the stuff into memory right before that.
I know what you mean
They call it quantum ram

QRAM already exists, and sadly it's not time traveling
double data rate. dual channel.
i just got an update to the nvidia controlpanel from the microsoft store app. i thought stuff like that were updated from new nvidia drivers. is this normal
Drivers don't install anything, they are the thing being installed, like being installed from software like the Nvidia app.
Since the new Nvidia app is a Windows store app it will automatically be updated from there
ye but usually u get stuff from the software you download from nvidias webpage
not microsoft store
The previous software could update itself, this new one is not different.
But yes, downloading the driver from the Nvidia website can also be used to update the software. But since the Nvidia app updates itself and the driver there's no need.
i dont use nvidia app since they doesnt seem to have their default filters and settings under controll which can cause performance loss
Just disable filters? Takes like 2 seconds. Also, the latest default settings for the app has it off by default.
ye but performance draining filters should all be off from default. most people want a plug n play experience
They were not meant to be performance draining when no filter is activated. That's a bug.
ye, thats why i dont use nvidia app yet
Anyways, doesn't matter if you didn't use them before just disable it. The rest of the app is fine.
Or don't use it. But if you don't use it no reason to have windows store update it
my galaxy watch 7 is officially cursed, i keep uninstalling several of the stupid "essential apps" but the watch reinstall them on its own
I had to drop my Samsung watch and go with a Google one instead. The Samsung ecosystem can drop dead.
And yet Samsung takes wear OS more seriously than Google themselves
The only Samsung products I like are televisions. And that's about it. Samsung OLED > LG OLED
I have a Samsung Washer and Dryer, and they work well enough. Still would have preferred an LG on appliances though

For some time Google basically barely acknowledged wear OS. They are doing it again now but honestly I'd get a galaxy watch over a pixel watch
It helps that you don't need to pay a subscription for basic health features too
Apple Watch over both imo. #Preferences
Also I like my rotational bezel
Apple Watch OS > Galaxy Wear OS
But then again. Apple had a 6 year head start on wearables. So it's really just preference at this point.
What you use it for. Supposedly the Health App on the Galaxy wearables is maybe a little better with the capability to measure BMI. Apple wearables do generally have a superior screen, faster response time, better scroll rate, better sleep tracking, superior hardware internals, an OS built from the ground up over a stripped version of Android. and I do prefer Apple Music over Spotify. But that's a Ford vs. Chevy argument there so its pointless.
apple will create a new innovation in 2026.... a foldable phone, sheesh
my wife had a Galaxy watch. she washed her hands with it on, it got water damaged, and they wouldn't RMA it. they had ads on their website with someone surfing while waring one
but told her she was using it outside the warranty specifications.
she has a google watch now. my apple watch destroys them both
Ask one of the 20 people who bought arrow lake I guess π
they really took an Arrow in the knee
I'm starting to feel like I did when I had a Pentium 4 in 2000. I was ashamed to tell people.
may be time to switch to AMD the next build so I can step into the light

4 P-cores and 4 E-cores
there is a 4-core/8-thread Epyc CPU under $150 that's definitely faster than this, as it's almost as fast as the Ryzen 5 7500F
Weird CPU for sure, especially considering no HT
as a long time intel user... whats HT?
my price point CPUs never had it
then 8k series comes around and i got 6 cores!.... still no HT though
Hyperthreading is so early 2000s
Most have had HT, with the exception of some Intel 9000 series CPUs (9600k, 9700k, ETC)
there were CPUs with multithreading in commercial PCs dating as far back to the 1970s lol
multithreading does not equal hyperthreading
oh god i saw something over the weekend from a 80's movie that looked absolutely maddening for them to pull off
Hyperthreading is literally just Intel's own branding of multithreading
https://youtu.be/vhJVhQpLdr4?si=mZiZ8OTJPik5B2BU&t=996 manually digitizing a 2d ship to turn it into 3d polygons
so many of these older movies where it ends up being "oh yeah they wrote the program to be able to do it"
Hyperthreating (HT) and Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT) are equivilant technologies from Intel and AMD. Multithreading is the programing of apps to work synchronously across multiple CPU cores/threads
Read the expanded explanation and stop using google as your brain
Hyperthreading makes one physical processor act like two virtual processors, while multithreading runs multiple tasks (threads) within a single program at the same time. So, hyperthreading is good at multithreading, but it's not the same.
And Arrow lake lacks this
HT and SMT are both virtual processors, which means they are functionally similar
HT is a form of SMT.
threads aren't any physical part of the chip at all, entirely just a virtual thing
And this statement is entirely incorrect regardless
The point to note is the "Simultaneous" part of SMT. That's what makes the term comparable with hyperthreading. Remove that and leave the multithreading and they are not comparable.
AMD used to have a different form of SMT called CMT for Bulldozer CPUs
It was more like they had to, due to that architectures design
But effectively, yeah. they did
Man I remember swapping from a 3770k to an 8350, what a n00b I was back then. Instantly went back to the 3770k haha
HT going away on Intel was mostly because of efficiency
Not at all, its because they couldnt get the scheduling to work on arrow lake
HT on Intel causes up to 30% increase in power draw
You think intel care about 30% extra power for 15-20% faster MT?
Ryzen is much more efficient with SMT hence why they kept SMT on Zen 4c and Zen5c
I feel like you are quoting this from wiki articles haha
not at all
it's common knowledge that Intel got rid of HT for efficiency, since E-cores are better in terms of PPW
Even Pat G himself said they needed to disable HT on arrow lake due to architecxture deficiencies, and issues getting the scheduling to work on non monolithic dies
Efficiency gains are a pure bi-product of that disabling. Dont believe everythign you read on the internet. That efficiency thing is pure marketting spin
sure its true, but its not why HT was disabled

several sites list the samsung odyssey g6 and g8 oled as trueblack 400 certified but they didnt seem to get it. i took for granted mine was but apparently not
Imagine on top of Nvidiaβs RTX raytracing
Samsung makes soooo many versions of "the same monitors" to confuse customers on purpose. It's a scumbag tactic but sadly its common for monitor manufacturers
i think they were advertised to get the certifications before release, but then maybe they didnt meet the requirements?
Could be. Doesn't change the fact that buying a monitor is a very consumer unfriendly thing to do though.
it got amazing picture and popping hdr tho so im not really complaining that it doesnt have an official stamp
I really love my samsung tv, never had any complaints
yeah theyre great
My 5 year old ultrawide also works like a charm
my samsung tv is only qled tho , not oled
Same :')
Im not that crazy over every detail so oled would be a bit overkill for me right now while it's still very expensive
Odyssey g5?
i just read that lg is going to release an ultrawide monitor that u can angle yourself. from being flat to having a curve
1080p
I want 1080p as a second monitor for games where fps matter but idk if i can go back to 1080p
Sounds stupid lol
Its a gimmick
i already have a 180hz 1080p monitor but i couldnt resist getting a curved one for so cheap
Prone to failure
Its definitely more immersive
but yeah oled monitors are still very expensive, i think my new oled monitor was like 600 euro , and according to samsung that was 50% off
lol
i think shooters will be better on a curved monitor
600euro for oled monitor is a banger price
i dont really know never had one before
Depends on the panel tbh. 600 can be a good, or a bad price. I paid 699 for my Alienware AW2725DF for example.
While i had a curved monitor it reduced eye fatigue for me. Sadly had to send back because dead Pixel
QD OLED 3rd gen is good regardless of the maker tbh.
Im thinking to get a curved monitor as main monitor and my UW as my sim race Monitor
Ofc im thinking about 4k as well but then I have upgrade gpu and it will escalate
I'll get double 4K super ultrawide and use my 4070 to power it
Those have existed for quite some time now
This is a new tho, an oled with double frequenzy modes that let you use a lower rez but have your hz increased if you want to
i cant use my samsung s24 to charge my galaxy smart watch 7, with wireless touch charging. the watch say that the charging device is unsufficient or whatever. its supposed to work. this is a scam
i should be able to place my watch on my phone and have it charge my watch
no it's explicitly not supported on the watch 7
thanks
my watch keep telling me that an action i must take is to sleep more
but i slept for 6 hours
its abit annoying
just sleep more. sleep for 12 hours.
lol
sleep forever. never wake up. >:I
6 hours isn't enough
wow
you need minimum 8 lol
yeah adults need 8 hours
which the modern world really hates giving people that much time
btw that was a joke
totalfps might ban you for it tho(not that i reported it)
i spoke about drinking alcohol and they removed my message
well, we'll see i guess
how is your eye tho?
it's the same.
the Primary Care place i'm going to talked about referring me to an optimologist to look at it, but that might take a while.
Because I still need to be associated with them, and also I need to get health insurance.
i truly hope everything sorts out for you man, must be hard
it's annoying but i'll be fine
I get 5 hours of sleep on a work night.
if u had my watch, it would buzz you to sleep more
I rarely can sleep more than 5-6 hours
I average 4 hrs no matter how long I been up for
6-8 hours is good, less than 6 and more than 8 is bad
There are old articles on samsungs site that claim the odyssey oled g6 and g8 have vesa trueblack 400 certification even tho they dont. They really should take those down or atleast edit them
tekh
great, the joystick on the back of my new samsung monitor just fell off and ive read that several people have had this issue
ive bearly tuched it
how can they have low quality plastic on an expensive monitor
this joystick functions as a powerbutton and controlling everything on the monitor. now its unusable
Just Samsung things
been in que for the support chat for almost 40 minutes and ive only moved 2 places
its going to take hours to reach them
Ah man this sucks
Try tomorrow i think today all have free
This is why the traditional row of buttons under the monitor are better
But wow that really is cheaply built
yeah i just read that someone had it fall off after just 3 days
they better replace it with some metal stick or something that will last
They wont repair it, they will just RMA your whole unit and give you a different, or refurbished one
hm
i wont accept a refurbished one, but we'll see
samsungs site claim to have technicians that can come over to your place for repair or service
Interesting. is the control part its own module? Which piece exactly broke?
they call it a jog button. its like a tiny joystick on the back of the monitor that u controll the osd with and also start turn off the monitor. someone on youtube manage to replace it in less than 5 minutes but im not experienced enough to be doing something like that on my own
It's january 1st
they seem to be having supports online tho, the phoneline is closed but the chat is open
even if its extremely slow
but yeah its january 1st, im aware of that
You mean new years
No I don't
you think the support people they farmed out that service to care what day it is?
I'm saying the chance to get someone who can tell you more than to turn it off and then on again is very little

Only 8GB of memory if leaks are to be believed
If Intel could get their GPUs a bit down in power usage during idle they would actually be better maybe

you can't get support here and neither in this channel, you can contact EA support but that's about it
you won't be able to get any here either, read the channel description

rtx 4070 super
i wonder when 5070ti will be released, will it be 2.5 months after the xx90 like that last time or sooner?
3090 to 5070ti should be a decent upgrade
Wouldn't the downgrade in memory size make that a somewhat dangerous upgrade?
from 24 to 16? i think most games run fine with 16 in 1440p
Sure, but I would still want to benchmarks. I'm in a somewhat similar position.
what's sad is that power consumption will probably be similar
5070Ti should be faster than 4080 Super and have better updated features like DLSS4
So the 50 series is actually real? Kinda insane
Is the ryzen 7 9700x worth buying? I'm kinda torn.between the rysen 7 7700x and the 9700x
Type 1080ti in 2024 on yt

Am an audiophile
Actually I didn't game since almost a decade.. my favourite is bc2
I'm watching it right now. I don't have a 1080ti. I got a 4070 ti super
Yeah bro it's all good. I was wondering because I gave my little brother my 4060 ti and he has a shit cpu so I was tryna find a good 8 core cpu but I wanted to know due to the 7700x and 9700x being both on sale for around 319 both
Ohh, cool
I mean it would be more insane if it wasn't
Free money for Nvidia
It's only so much better that Nvidia think it will be just about convincing enough for you to feel fomo and buy them
no reason to make them too good
Neural Processing will be the talking point obviously
That's what they're working on for the 50 series right?
Oh yeah neural rendering
Add 4-8GB memory, support of yet another non-retroactively supported DLSS version and assisting tech, slight performance boost, increase price, call it a day
Hey, they have standards now, it's 8GB minimum, nothing lower
you should be grateful
Jensen should walk up on stage and say that apple quote on ram in their macbooks but for VRAM on Nvidia cards
I'm not, I'm just a gamer being taken advantage of by companies abusing monopolies and manipulated patentlaw
Well the 50 series I thought was a joke. I mean look at exactly how power the 4090 is
"8GB VRAM on an RTX50 series card is analogous to 16GB VRAM on an AMD card"
The fact that the top of the line, overpriced card is what you reference, just means Nvidia has won π
Well no because I haven't bought a 4090 or even a 4080. The reason I mentioned it is because the 4090 outperforms everything of course as it should but it also has a ton of features I feel like aren't even nessacary. Like tbh a 4090 in csgo would be stupid overkill. I don't even need 600 fps Ina game like that. My point is the 40 series just came out. Pushing the next series is crazy
Previous cards too good so they release new tech which the old cards don't have so people get fomo and buy the new cards anyway.
Yeah I agree. That's why I cited the 4090. You literally would be great with a 3090. The 4090 is overkill but imagine a 5090. It's almost like iphone where every new phone just has a slightly better camera
they hated jensen for telling the truth
The 3000 series didn't get DLSS 3 frame generation, so that was already outdated with the 4000 series
Ahhhhh makes sense then

Would that mean it's just outright incompatible with AMD cards?
not emulators lol
the current emulators for the Switch do prefer Nvidia GPUs likely because of CUDA
I just want my DLAA man.
I will entirely skip this gen and get the switch 2 this year if its good and a good pokemon game is about to release

much worse than that
Minecraft and other titles have up to half of the Radeon/NV equivalent for performance
Isn't it also terrible when rebar is off or not available? Or is that covered in this video?
for the video Steve tests with rebar on, BMG/arc architecture is more or less built to require rebar so if you switch it off performance will dive off a cliff
performance regressions are like 30% on arc with rebar off
I wonder wil NV invest more in rebar related optimizations. A lot of games still are not whitelisted for it to do anything

i have seen the entire presentation
the long and short of it is its ass, fsr4 exclusivity is real, wont be backported, and they only match up to a 4070ti
they have a "ai summary" feature for radeon
Oh wow
the verge
Hey can anyone help me out with obs. Why does bf2042 show up in the top left of my obs screen instead of full
in the uhh preview window in the obs program there is a resizable window you can drag around iirc? is that like full screen
I can send you a picture if you want
If I load other games it's already full screen but for 2042 it's not
i havent used obs in some years now but i remember being able to resize the window where to capture
but if its doing other games fine
Yeah it's just odd I'll try recording and see what happened
I fixed it. For some reason if you open obs while in the game it half screens then when you tab back to the game it full screens
Hmm yes make things more confusing.
would be kinda funny if intel released a 9070xt competitor
theres the part they didnt show lol
With Nvidia abusing their monopoly like situation as much as they are, I'm not even gonna be mad about that.
The image part pisses me off because they could teach someone to learn game dev or some shit.
I know it isn't so simple but you know.
So there's
Ryzen 9000 mobile (H, HX, HX3D)
Ryzen AI MAX and AI MAX+
Ryzen AI 300
Ryzen Z2 (3 of them)
Ryzen 200 series
Eh....Is anyone actually interested in the 9070 or 9060xt?
We all know we're here for one GPU.....5090
lol
i mean, why should i care about the 5090, it's gonna be too damn expensive.
WE also know that the claimed 575 watt TDP is an overexaggeration when the 4090 never came close to 450 watts
So nobody ACTUALLY cares about that either....What we do all care about is price, and how scalped are they going to be again.
Price: probably over a thousand dollars
How scalped are they going to be: yes
Will this all be done locally though?
