Those are games made years ago lol
Least amount of fps you should be focusing on is 60 fps. More then 60fps is good
i mean i wont be able to play all the games in my lifetime but it sure made me able to play games made in recent years
im gonna buy another 8gb 3200 ram and see if i can run bf2042 if i still cant run it on 40-50 fps oh well
Make sure it's the same ram
wait wdym same ram, i thought u will just look at its MT/s
and also the ddr thing mine is ddr4
Just buy a kit of 2x8 ddr4 ram, if you want I can link you a good kit
You need 16 gigs and a bit of a better processor.
This just now connected this is a laptop we are talking about
I’m thinking of buying a sennheiser headphone and a separate mod mic
But I always had mics built into my gaming headsets
However many people on Reddit swear by sennheiser and (although most recommendations are open back) I need closed back headphones but I also want a good quality mic
I need it to work with both ps and Xbox cos I don’t game on pc
Hey what's the difference buying phones in US and EU?
I bought my fold 6 in the EU and it's... much quicker than my fold 5 even though it has the same stuff as my 5 on it.
I know the processor is better.
But this is significantly smoother.
EU variants use the exynos variant, all the galaxy Z Fold 6 variants use snapdragon
Changing with the s25 though it seems
Snapdragon for everyone
Is there less bloat or some shit?
I mean I guess it would depend if you're buying your phones unlocked or not
Usually carriers would put some bloat there preinstalled, do they still do? Idk, haven't used a carrier phone in ages
Reddit are always going to swear off the most enthusiast and expensive option ever
Suggest something else and they'll berate you like you're uncultured
Wait so
Is the Fold 5 from Australia an Exynos variant?
Keep in mind I'm super lost.
I can't recommend Samsung phone with Exynos chipset, very buggy and the Wi-Fi adapter is hardly responsive to nearby networks
Z Fold/Flip for everyone is SD
For the S line flagships they use SD usually only in the US and Exynos for everyone else
My bad. I thought Deco was talking about the fold flip series since I explicitly mentioned it.
So really. What's the difference between AUS and EU then for the fold series?
Or is the fold 6 really that "big" of an upgrade over the 5.
ever since I got this Galaxy A55 as a work phone, I have to come in 5 minutes earlier than usual just so the phone has time to finally connect to the Wi-Fi
Well, we got the report that they get awful yields with Exynos so I guess they might quit with using them on the S Line for good
nothing substantive, main differences are the cameras
not good
nothing to do with the cards themselves
only happens with the high-capacity server racks
iPhone > everything else
Oh that's a shame.
Than again I'm not surprised considering yearly releases haha.
the fold se is the actual upgrade, but its not available worldwide (possibly yet)
whether they release it worldwide who knows
most likely version that need to have specific hardware or software features that by law its required in those regions
I know the US iphone and the EU iphones have hardware differences like the sim tray
EU has a regulation where they need physical Sim slot (And if they want eSim too), while in teh US there's no regulation on it so they are all eSim
Wait the what?
What's the se what.
The south Korea exclusive phone I think
They also made a flip FE(fan edition) I think
nothign new
some companies make phone version for their domestic market
same thing happens a lot in Japan with Sony phones
and China
its like some watches I want
and they only exist in Japan : (
because they're produced for the domestic market only
China gets all the cool exclusive phones
guess who doesnt contribute to their economy. Me
their trifold phone is huge scam if you ask me
but I mean, the Huawei tri-fold was a flop anyways
shit is a cool gimmick but turns to a total 0 in terms of durability and repairability
Shits almost 10K here.
The W24 fold is pretty cool though
thats a lot in dollaridoos
You can buy a computer and a fucking regular ass fold with that money.
I think the original rrp cost in China is $2500 usd, still too much
In USD you can get a lot more with that idea.
they do look pretty nice ngl
They make all these luxury models exclusive to China as over there it's a cultural kind of thing to gift people phones on christmas or Chinese new year
I'm assuming it's why all the Chinese oems launch new flagships exclusively in December or January
my god. i was just thinking yesterday "I'm using this iphone 14 until it dies"
$2337
for a phone 😦
its barely worth half that
It is
Older iphones are cheaper than that, and still are supported
I think there may have been a time in my life where I would be excited about a folding screen. I get nervous now if my keys share a pocket with my phone. I can't imagine something that folds and costs more than my pc rattling around with an unfortunate few specks of dirt and sand that happened to end up in my pocket 😐
btw asus released their bios for their b550 motherboards that fixed the sinkclose vulnerbility not too long ago. ages after everyone else but better late than never i guess
Reminds me of MSI and 0x12b
I still tweak so voltage will never go that high but MSI handled 0x12b horridly for their Z790 Pro boards
GB200 NVL4 is a platform with Blackwell GPU and Grace CPU NVIDIA has several announcements at Supercomputing 2024 NVIDIA has announced that its H200 NVL processors are now available, which is a PCIe Express version of the Hopper accelerator. They're good against particles but I understand what you mean. Really as someone who has one and is ULTRA careful I think they're worth it.
if this is reshade, you cant use it as its blocked by ea anticheat, if its freestyle it has a minimal impact on latency, unless youve got high end hardware youre not maxing the game anywhere enough to notice a few additional frames of latency
AMD future is UDNA Say goodbye to RDNA and CDNA. The unified architecture known as UDNA now has a rumored debut date. This […]
just little over a year after RDNA4
hints at PS6 launch in 2026/2027
crazy.
this generation is already 5 years old.
almost.
WTF
and there's still a fuckton of people on ps4 and xbone
Next gen Xbox will be around that time. Xbox had a head start of next gen consoles cuz they didn’t worry about a refresh
In some areas it’s faster then their internet
One test actually had data transfer from both where the bird was faster to transfer data from usb versus downloading it
Wonder what pc equivalent specs the next gen consoles will have tbh 🤔
Thinking maybe like rtx 4080 or 5080 if same as current gen. PS5 have like rtx 2080 performance excluding ray tracing, and that gpu was 2 years old at ps5 release. Maybe stupid thinking like that but could be we see something like that again
doesnt matter, will still be the inferior platform

For the sake of next gen and devs, i hope they wont make another series s like console
what would that be, mid af and a pain to optimize for?
Something like that 😛
The new Xbox series s 2

But seriousness I cannot predict there new console name as that is how off Microsoft went
3080 performance
I don’t think they will this time
Think they realized it was big mistake even the idea was kind of good. If there was only one console I am sure many still would buy but would take more time I guess
Imagine
It’s great to push people to new gen. But sucks on their end for game developments.
But at the same time. I saw a vid somewhere, some dev said series S can accomplish stability and performance for any game. Just needs more testing and development time for it.
Something like that, I believe it was a stalker 2 dev
Not everyone has deep enough pockets to milk performance out of the series s though. I just know the console is horrible to work with from multiple devs statements. We'll see what happens next time. I am also curious to see if the Xbox is stronger than playstation again.
Their top model obviously
Comparison for series S. Yea. Series X had a performance lead for a long time till ps5 pro dropped
Series X is about 15% better than PS5. But 15% slower than PS5 pro. PS5 pro can be faster if a cpu upgrade
Ps pro only 15% better? Well, maybe better than that it turns into next gen
I feel like next gen will be like a 30-45% increase from ps5 pro
But ob won’t beat pc standards
We'll see. They gotta think many years ahead

RTX 5050 laptops are a higher price tier than RTX 4050 laptops so the 4050 isn't going away anytime soon
I don't like that 4050
Don't worry, nobody does
FUCK ME
I wanted to annoy you. Genuinely. What do I get out of the 9800x3d versus the 5800 asides from consistent clock speeds?
about 25-30% higher ipc
Ohhhh
I might have to get a new fan it depends. I plan on giving my old mobo to my sister and shit.
the cooler may already have a am5 offset mount, check compatibility
I want to stress the fan part later.
Ah fuck it
I don't want to spend more money than I have to.
stock for it will return in around january, demand is off the charts
overclockers uk had 12000 backorders within the first day of going live
Yeah it's on sale here. I don't need it now as I'm not in a rush but if you're gonna get it you may as well get it now you know.
Not on sale I mean it's on stock.
wont be in stock for very long lmao
I know.
Which is why I'm a bit skittish.
eh if youre willing to wait till january the 9950x3d will come out then
Oh I'm not the most interested in that.
I just came home from family and had to buy a phone while on holiday so it's like fuck. If I get this I'll be a little too close to out of funds!
Family? I mean vacation LOL
I'm looking at the deepcool assassin IV for a more serious fan.
Or the peerless assassin.
may aswell pick it up
Yeah it's not a bad thing to go for.
What would B650 M - P mean?
Micro - Prime?
I'll give context.
just marketing, b650 is the platform, p means prime
MSI PRO B650M-P MB, B650, 4x DDR5, 1x PCI-E 4.0 x16, 2x M.2, 4x SATA3, 4x USB 3.2, DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, VGA, Micro ATX, 2.5Gb LAN at Scorptec.com.au, the online Gaming PC, server computer and technology experts. Fast delivery to Australia.
Oh I know what b650 is.
M means micro yeah? Looks like a small motherboard!
yeah m-atx specifically
Will you get the 9950x3d when it drops?
nope
done with multi ccd shenanigans
why i got this to replace the 7950
Funny enough that's why my mate went for the 9800
Is it really impossible to do more than 8 cores on a single CCD?
12,000
It'd be cool if there was a gen where there was no increase in power but they managed to fit in 10 cores into a single CCD.
Thank fuck for afterpay. Jesus christ.
yes because those cores are unified
the problem with the 7950 is it has a cache imbalance meaning it cant cross talk
yes, but the kit wont matter all that much with the 9800x3d
Yeah true but I remember you saying something about Corsair ram and the fact that I nearly got it.
its specifically the veangance line that you want to avoid at all costs
its funny seeing flight simulator totally max the vram of a 4080
Expected?
nope, it's the LOD settings in the game
DLAA in it runs quite well
Truth be told that thing that is scaring me the most is updating my motherboards BIOS. I wonder if I fuck up formatting the usb and try to update the bios could I brick that.
I understand not to be a worry wart but it's the one thing that has me concerned the most. @pale quartz
I can trust myself to install hardware physically but that? Fuck that.
you have usb flashback, its pretty hard to get wrong, it just wont read if its in the wrong format
🤔
that sounds like a good way to get google engineers showing up at your door to beat the fuck out of you
nah
it's just wildly inefficient, impractical and something you'd never do because bandwidth will never get close to RAM in terms of throughput
and it'd disappear as soon as your internet connection drops
nah Google doesn't care when I abuse the unlimited photo backup in Google photos by spoofing my phone fingerprint in the app

So i just ordered the samsung odyssey g6 oled pc monitor, it was 45% off so i thought why not
Ive been staying away from oled cuz ive been afraid of burn ins
Hope i wont regret it
Now instead of owning a computer
You gotta rent your pc
So a chromebook
Nope even worse then a Chromebook
Chromebooks got storage even if small
This one is pure renting a computer
Ah
GeForce RTX 5070 Ti rumors We have some new information from a trusted NVIDIA leaker. NVIDIA is said to be working on GeForce RTX 5070 Ti already. This is alleged by “Kopite7kimi” who confirmed to us the following information. The card is said to feature 8960 CUDA Cores, which means 70 Streaming Multiprocessors, and this […]
300W for 5070Ti
you know a new architecture isn't a big improvement when they raise power limits at each segment
Building budget gaming PCs is nothing new, but making a $50 PC play every game from 2012-2024 is one of the hardest PC gaming challenges I've ever done. Today, I’m pushing a $50 computer to its absolute limits, optimizing it until even the most demanding games are playable, and I got this potato PC from 2012 to run the newest games of 2024.
Try...

It has literally nothing to do with the architecture. As was shown with 40 series, they just give it as much power as they possibly can, to squeeze every ounce of performance and clock speed that they can out of these parts.
40 series being +150-175W extra for 5-8% more performance. 4090 could have been a 350W card and had negligible performance losses.
im done with nvidia, i want to try 8800xt when it releases
Enjoy broken drivers every other release and bad software I guess.
I'm enjoying it right now
I'm too
I love RTX cards
I dont care for raytracing but dlss is really nice to have
So ye rtx cards are awesome
Raytracing is superior on Rtx cards. I agreed DLSS is nice to have. I like it over FSR personally
Rtx cards have good software overall. But price to performance is what gets everyone in general.
Btw ive been using my oled display a while now and in hdr highlights really pops even tho the nits aint that great, i take its from the infinite contrast to the perfect blacks. But im scared to just have it running my windows background with all the static icons
All newer oled models have burn in mitigation
You shouldn't be worried
If you are just search up your monitor on RTings and see what they say

The comments tho
Sorry forgot to crop image
Their coping is unreal
I like the comment saying
“Your right I’m getting the 5080”
And
“4090 isn’t fast enough”

Wasnt there a while where the xx70 cards were about as fast as the previous generations flagship
Wonder if that will be true again with 5000
So a 5070 being as fast as 4090
I wanna see how big increase, the 5090 will be next to 4090 tbh
I wonder when my samsung reward points will come in from my purchase, i read that sometimes it takes up to 30 days, then ill miss my oppertunity to use them during black friday

Mmm 🤔
you're probably not aware but if you care about hdr at all then Radeon is not something you can buy
What's the issue with HDR?
with Radeon GPUs specifically with freesync premium pro monitors there is a pipeline which uses its own HDR interaction making it a washed out mess
has existed for years, no you cant turn it off because you ask either
So it's just an issue with certain monitors
any high end monitor
freesync is more or less universally supported now, it's not just "certain monitors"
you buy anything oled it'll have it, any high end IPS/VA etc
Can't say it looks washed out for me
does your monitor support freesync premium pro?
Afaik yes
you'd best find out
cause if it is the representation you're seeing isn't the actual HDR visualization the game is using
unless you own a Samsung monitor specifically which is unaffected, everything else is
it's still not the accurate HDR representation of what you're actually supposed to be seeing
That's a very minor issue
if you want poorer HDR then sure ig ¯_(ツ)_/¯
i didnt knew the HDR issue yet. altough i dont have a HDR monitor just yet its something i dont like to hear
Me on VA with hdr that looks like shit and basic freesync
Hdr looks great on both my 2k nits va qled panel and my 400 nits true black oled
I also mainly use the true black 400 nit mode on my screen, as it ha smore consistent brightness than the HDR 1000 modes.
My monitor have 1000 nit mode
My is VA panel with Gsync
I don't even have hdr
Good thing Alienware OLED monitors use Samsung panels
are they better? i just bought a samsung odyssey oled g6 with a qd-oled panel
Basically the same monitor
You’ve got a Higher refresh rate. Mine is a 34” 1440p at 175 hz.
i run my display at 240hz, isnt there degrading going on if i go full out 320hz
i want to remember that hdmi 2.1 only can do 240hz 1440p
i read that some people get problems when they run my display at max hz
with black flickering
cuz it really doesnt support it
lol
Probably VRR causing flickering
I’ve never personally owned that high of a refresh rate as I’ve personally found it unnecessary. A lot of research suggests that even though the human eye itself doesnt have any limitation on how fast we can see. “Frames per second” isn’t possible in real life as it is basically still images happening in real time, but the photoreceptors in our eyes as it hits the lens has severe diminishing returns over 120 fps on any display. Some people are able to “see faster” but generally speaking, the average human being can’t “see” over 120 FPS. I forget the actual scientific phenomenon name that allows us to do that off hand.
The only good product worth your money alienware still makes to this day.
Good job on that Dell, I suppose
i aim way better now with 240hz than 60 on the monitor i had ages ago
Oh no doubt you notice a smoother display. But the difference between 240 and 360 isn’t noticeable
might be the response time aswell
Image smoothing when we went past the 60 fps mark in recent years made a huge difference
Keep in mind movies and television are still viewed at 24 fps
ye
So when televisions went that whole 120 FPS thing, it was actually pretty gimmicky
But having it for gaming consoles or even pc monitor made it nice
i think the hobbit was released with a 60fps version on cinema and people complained about motion sickness
idk
I’d be curious what that looked like. Probably fairly comical. But the irony is that lower frame rate in applications such as VR is what cause motion sickness. So having a rig powerful enough to power dual screens (one for each eye) was crucial to prevent that
I brought in my spare old gaming monitor to use at work, and it’s super funny to see just how much a 1ms response rate compared to a standard business monitor refresh makes
Just got a screensaver going on both and although they’re both 60fps 1080p the refresh is soooooo noticeable
imagine not having 360hz monitor
Another aspect is screen tear which is why you buy the crazier high refresh rates ones.
Honestly I bet to a trained eye you could notice it but it might not be as much of a difference.
tbf i have not noticed a significant difference between 144hz and 360hz which justifies the price
Even screen tearing
Colours on 360hz are straight dogshit aswell
i can set my monitor to 360hz, but i read that hdmi 2.1 really only supports 240hz 1440p native, so ive kept it at that
might aswell not really a point unless you play cs r6s or valo
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl just released and it is built on Unreal Engine 5. UE5 used to be this super exciting thing, because we knew the games using it would look quite incredible. So many studios are switching to using it partially because of this reason. However, as time has gone on... UE5 has started to become a bad omen.
This do...
a fan who needs another small fan on it to cool the motor
WTF xD
Samsung surpasses LG with even faster OLED panel South Korean media reports that Samsung has developed an OLED monitor with 500 Hz refresh rate While the company has not made anything official yet, industry sources from ETNews claim that Samsung has achieved a breakthrough in developing its fastest gaming panel to date. The 500Hz refresh […]
im really happy with my odyssey oled g6, only thing that is annoying is that i have to press the power off like 2-5 times before it actually shut down the screen
lol
Is it not just doing screen protection shutdown at those times it isn't turning off?
its like a joystick on the back where u controll everything, where i press it downwards then push it in to turn off
but its not the best
you often have to press it in several times in the menues aswell
It doesn't have a dedicated power button?
nope
Odd for such an expensive product.
the design department went for max minimalist huh?
the larger 4k oled g8 have another smart system tho i think
i would absolutely sell my kidney for this tbh
BFD has fallen (once again)

you have to be careful which Z2 you buy
Z2 is based on 3 different CPU and GPU architectures
the Z2G uses Zen 3+ CPU and RDNA2 iGPU
Z2 is Zen 4 and RDNA3
Z2 Extreme is Zen 5 and RDNA3+
Z2G will be terrible performance but cheap, you might as well get something that's already out
Just got a notification from Kaspersky saying that my hard drive has gone from 86% health to 26% in 7 days, and while I don't know what any of it means, its telling me about a 'Reallocated Sector Count' being high. Already gone and backed everything up, but is my drive a goner?
Why are you paying for kapersky, windows defender is right there and it's free
Maybe check crystaldiskinfo to see if it matches up with there?
I used it for some older hdds I had that were ancient, found which ones still worked with most sectors intact and which ones didn't
tried hard disk sentinel or whatever its called and that matches up

yeah I think I'm gonna avoid the risk and just get a replacement
ssd this time
always get nervous messing around with parts though
oh yeah, how can I check what motherboard I have? Need to confirm i've got the right pcie slot
I usually use hwinfo64 for detailed information like that all in 1 place
will grab that real quick
yeah I feel just getting an ssd will be the simplest option. Easy to install, get rid of this one
to be safe
and they go for pretty good rates these days
150 for a 2TB one sounds good
With dram?
I got one for 70, was dramless though. A 990 pro for that price is really good
Samsung wants fast memory on new graphics cards At ISSCC 2025, which will be held in February next year, Samsung has some interesting panel that might be interesting to graphics enthusiasts. holy moly
imagine 40+ Gbps 512-bit for 5090
nope
has 28-32gbps, not these 40gbps modules
40+ Gbps will probably only be possible for 6000 series or beyond
because GDDR7 needs maturing
9800x3d installed and running great so far
How hard is it to transfer windows from a 1tb hard drive to a 1tb ssd
don't tempt fate, just reinstall windows
always better to reinstall windows on new drive and only copy what u need after from the hd later
That being said, your SSD manufacturer might have a tools for transfering like that
I know Samsung does
he's on a hard drive it's not possible
it'll be in MBR format, a full wipe is necessary to be compatible with GPT
i noticed that my bios set the boot mode to legacy or whatever and it seemed to work, but i switched it to windows
on my ssd windows 11
weird stuff
this is only enforced on the actual installation of windows 11, you can use legacy but software like anticheats which enforce UEFI TPM won't function correctly
I only use procheats
'first choice'
Only 2 years of updates
With the new 8 elite supporting up to 9
Why do Asus still even try, atleast Sony are pretty pro-sumer by regularly releasing aosp binaries for their phones
Why would they forgoe it
they could just offload the extra costs on the customer as usual
that's not how this works
contract prices for nodes are agreed in advance, typically 1-2 years but tsmc has been hiking them, so production timelines are impacted based on whatever is being made in xyz time
making an iPhone more expensive doesn't solve anything
as I said products are continuously produced on the same node, they don't just cease manufacturing, so if tsmc hike a node price by another 20% apple would need to do the same thing for a phone later in it's cycle, which is bad economics and just a bad idea in general
True though someone else higher up thinks its a brilliant idea.
Ugh
What a fucking joke.
Looking to see if anyone can help. 100 hours on EA (Origion) recently got the game on Steam so I can play on Boosteriod. The website says cross-progression works, and it looks like my EA and steam are connected but I dont have all of my gun/vehicle unlocks and skin on steam. Any insight from the group?
Hi everyone,
I've been experiencing stuttering issues in Battlefield 2042, and I can't figure out why. My hardware should be more than enough to handle the game. I'm playing on medium settings with the following setup:
GPU: ASRock RX 6750 XT 12GB
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3500X
RAM: 2x Crucial CT2K16G4DFRA32A (32GB total)
I mostly play Conquest with 64 players, and the stuttering happens randomly – it doesn't matter if it's at the start, middle, or end of a match.
Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this? Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Your CPU.
Due to it being a much older model I would not advise using it.
Gpu wise you're fine. It works.
3500x is a god awful processor it doesn't support hyperthreading time for a new one
Does anyone here have experience with standing desks and can recommend a good one.
i wanna find an adjustable desk aswell
that can adjust to any height
not just two
ikea got alot of desks who just got two different heights
IKEA idasen motorized.
I cant even find one. They all seem to have arrows where you can adjust freely.
Idasen seems solid tho , like bsod mentioned, abit pricey tho. Could be worth it tho
Ah damn it. Any recommendations?

didn't Linus work with NZXT
why does it seem like everything Linus-involved is shady

To be fair, Linux works with loooots of people. It will happen time to time. What matters is if they should have known or dont react if its bad.
no I meant Linus used to work for NZXT not as partner but an employee
and he hired the ex-ceo of nzxt to be lmg's new ceo, didn't he
now linus axed like half of the shit they do
gee what happens when you grow your tech company waay beyond what you can sustain
That was NCIX which no longer exists

I thought they were a US based company and couldn't sell outside of it due to their recent idiocy. @prime jasper
It's so big @pale quartz
I'm in the US and can't buy it here. That's all I know.
are they 140mm?
Uh it's the deep cool assassin IV.
it's not odd, people in the US can't buy anything as deep cool are banned there
yeah funny thing is it's actually considered small by compact sizes but probably bigger than you're used to
No isn't deep cool US based?
I know they sold their shit to Russia and that.
nope, Chinese
Ohhh
First AMD “Strix Point” HX 370 gaming handheld now shipping Great specs, horrible price and limited review coverage. OneXPlayer has just announced that their first gaming handheld equipped with the latest AMD processor is now shipping. This is the first known gaming handheld featuring Strix Point APU now available for purchase. But specs aside,...
a handheld don't need more than 8 cores
the one with HX 370 and 1TB storage is $1500

2TB model is $1700
can't wait for it to flop and hardly anyone buys it so the price comes down
I'd only buy from companeies like ayaneo and onexplayer if those costed like $400-600
Not trusting them with something as expensive as 1.5k
Lenovo handhelds have better screens
They are? I have 3 Deep cool case fans and a CPU cooler from Deepcool. I’m in America
I bought my parts in 2023, looks like they were banned in 2024
valve on their way to monopolise another industry cause evertything is shit
The HELL, show when done :3
You know what's funny
The shaddiest loan shark is cheaper then NZXT
Yes, your average mob run loan shark, will be cheaper to pay off then NZXT rental plan, like look you might get some injuries if you, don't pay it off, but at the same time, it won't go beyond NZXT year long plan
Which Gamer Nexus, literally stated, amazing plans
intel to announce B580 tomorrow, allegedly
thats it there
it's supposedly going to be 250$ right? really cheap
so another esports card
announcement is tomorrow, retail shortly after, dont know pricing but its a budget card
dont expect much in terms of perf
Hey I want to clear my secondary SSD out but it's not so simple.
Through disc management, Do I just format it?
I want to use it as a boot drive for my new motherboard.
yes, ensure its formatted into ntfs format and theres no partitions once formatted (it will appear as black on the disk view below e.g. disk 1/2 etc)
if youre wanting to use it as a boot drive you can do the same thing via a burned windows iso anyways
might be easier if youre not wanting to screw around with other drives
Ok format it into NTFS and don't remove partitions.
opposite remove all partitions
My bad but sure
its probably easier just waiting tbh, means you can use the drive for whatever purpose it has till the motherboard arrives
unless its already there
Oh yeah everything IS here.
Sorry how do you remove partitions?
Uncheck quick format?
just leave it for now till you are on the windows install screen, you might accidentally delete other partitions, its the same process this time all youre doing is plugging in that drive only, it means you can remove them all safely
OHHHH
Right so when windows is being installed what will happen is that it'll clear out.
Cause clean drive kinda deal.
So I really don't have to do anything. I want to format the primary drive cause the other parts will be going to my sister which is why I'm being super specific.
just before you click install you will have the option of deleting all the partitions, fairly straightforward -> windows media creation tool -> boot usb -> (with that nvme plugged in only), then wipe all the partitions via that gui and just install as normal
after windows is done you just shut it down and plug in the rest
So even when it's the sole m.2 in the new motherboard and installing windows even with the old files there, It should clear. For context this is the secondary drive of this computer I want to make into the primary boot drive for the new computer, Not sure if I made that clear enough.
it will clear, you cant install it (with keeping files), it'll tell you during the installation process but yeah close enough
Whatever we will see when it comes to it!
Ayaneo is a bit sketch to me personally
They all are. And by that I mean the ones not from oems that have had a good reputation making PC parts or pc-adjacent tech.
Asus isn't the best either but I would rather trust them over ayaneo
The fact that they release like 6 new skus not even a year after the last one really shows you how committed they are to supporting older models.
at least ASUS hasn't given products to reviewers with very blatant faults and then weren't even honest to the reviewers about them when they were told about 'em.
but I suppose ayaneo might be better than GPD who take up to 5 months to rma because they don't bother to expand outside of Hong Kong
yet they sell their products globally online and try to beg for more through kickstarters
I mean their handhelds look cool, seriously impressive. But I don't trust a company that refuses to have easily replaceable parts like sticks
Just annoys me I see videos on YouTube praising them nonstop without disclaimers on what you'd get into if you buy from them. "this handheld is flawless, don't waste your money on the rog ally or steam deck!, way more powerful!"

AMD RDNA4 rumors suggest high-end raster performance and improved ray tracing The RX 8800 series looking good in rumors. Two reliable leakers from the Chiphell forums have come forward with early claims about next-gen AMD Radeon performance. It is claimed by “zhangzhonghao” that the Navi 48-based model, supposedly called the Radeon RX 8800 XT (...
said to rival 4080 in ray-tracing while using less power

i mean, it'd still be good even if it doesn't do that.
because who actually still uses raytracing.
that would be pog
i want to remember seeing that even amd is going to start focusing on ai stuff further down the line. so maybe they'll catch up in a couple of years with some luck
David Zinsner and Michelle Johnston Holthaus named interim Co-CEOs. Holthaus also appointed to the newly created position of CEO of Intel Products. Frank Yeary named interim executive chair. SANTA CLARA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: INTC) today announced that CEO Pat Gelsinger retired from the company after a distinguished ...

stock went up 5% in pre-market

bad headline lol
"retired" forced out
called it ages ago
nope
IFS was
now that gelsinger is fired intel's discrete consumer gpu division is more or less done for and ifs is aswell
Is this satire, cos Asus has done this numerous times. Ranging from products like handhelds and motherboards, to GPUs
No it wasn't, I actually did not know that. I was referring to the time Ayaneo sent a youtuber a review version of the Ayaneo 2S which exhibited backlight bleed and excessively high temperatures, especially on the screen.
Remember when ASUS had multiple SD reader failures reported in pre production stock. Failed to fix it, shipped hundreds of thousands of faulty units, then spent 8 months ignoring and returning RMAs stating "user error" instead of taking responsibility. The issue was bricking units, the reader and the SD cards used in said readers.
Maybe it's better to stay quiet regarding brands you don't have much info on in that case.
They also recently releases a bios for x3d cpus that bricked some boards, failed to pull that bios and then wouldn't offer RMA to anyone affected.
I already said I didn't know and didn't say anything else about the brand, what more do you want from me. A public apology for being uninformed?
Christ.
wasn't he brought on to 'save' the company?
I guess qualcomm buying some of them is back on the table
Yes, since you are the same person who HOUNDS others on this server to say they are misinformed, or wrong.
How does it feel when the tables are turned?
I said ONE thing over an HOUR AGO.
One very wrong and misinformed thing, but yes.
because I did not know about the other incidents till you told me. Now I know, and have not made any comments about the brand since.
Lol this guy
I mean most of the mainstream techtubers talked about it, as did quite a bit written media
so they'll launch battlemage and then just dip?
yup
I don't really watch mainstream techtubers, I only know about the Ayaneo thing cause that's the experience Bringus Studios had with the 2S.
BMG will continue because iGPUs exist but as far as support for discrete it goes away
Big dollaroos
yikes

Folks that play on PC what size screen do you use? And did you build your PC with 4k in mind? Is that even necessary for monitors under a certain size?
I can't even..
Damn
Well i assume houses are cheap there at least
Seasonic expects Radeon RX 8800 XT to feature 220W TDP Power supply manufacturer leaving specs tips. It may not be entirely accurate, nor based on embargoed information Seasonic might possess, but just in case it is, the Radeon RX 8800 XT is claimed by the company to have a TDP of 220W. This value is […]
8800XT only 220W
I'm assuming that's good
these days it's pretty good
we're not gonna have competitive 75w cards ever again
damn my 6950xt draws about 350 tops...
Goddamn that's really good.
does this look like a problem with my ssd or is it steam throttling my download speed?
At the start of the download, at that peak it was 150mb/s disk usage and ~60mb/s download speed, then it drops off into 30mb/s disk usage and 6mb/s...
Sounds fair assuming with a slight undervolting 150watt are possible
it's a pretty recent samsung 980 so I don't think it's the ssd's fault..
Does the same thing happen if you transfer files to the same ssd? Like can you transfer a game from a different also fast drive to it and see if it throttles?
oh right, when I transfer files to and from the drive it's really fast
so I guess it's not the fault of the drive
Are you wired or on wireless?
wired
And a speed test doesn't show any connection issues?
1gbs connection, I used to get over 100mb/s on steam but recently it has been really slow
yeah nothing from a speedtest
Maybe try a different download region?
yeah there are 2 regions in my country and both of them are the same, I switched to another region outside of the country and it's downloading faster but still 20% slower than my original speed
I guess the content servers here are fucked?

I used to be able to get to 120mb/s at nighttime and 90-100mb/s during daytime
RDNA4 is a good architecture but not enough
probably interrupt moderation at work here, switch it off and flow control
nah, top die 8800xt will only match between a 4070ti and 4080
@candid flame and make sure you've got the direct ethernet driver, not the one that's preinstalled
sorry, don't understand what this means
give me a sec
@candid flame whats your ethernet driver or motherboard?
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19779/intel-killer-performance-suite.html go there, install this driver
thanks
afterwards double click it go to advanced -> youll see 2/3/4/5 options, energy efficient ethernet, flow control, gigabit lite, green ethernet and interrupt moderation, make sure theyre all off (if available)
then click ok
these specifically
much faster now, thanks. Still only half of what I had but at least it's not slogging at like 6-7mb/s
np
my isp is bullying people into signing over a year long closed deals, if u choose an option which lock you into having them for a year or more you get the same upload as download, but if you pick an open subscription which you can end anytime you get 1/10 upload
thats fcked up

announces new GPUs the day after CEO is sacked

b580 is a failure
its 10% faster than a 4060 and draws 190w, the 4060 is a 110w card
I dont think a consumer will care about that, if it can actually be purchased at 249, versus 349, which the 4060 is commonly available for
These wont take off, other than as a niche tho. As Intel are gonna abandon the sector, and proably halt development of the drivers
meh it wont be making money anyways, another loss leader product, but ^
It would have been a more interesting card if it had 16gb of VRAM
unlikely to mean much since it cant render enough for 16 to matter
I think it would matter long term value wise. Look at how poorly the 2060 aged with its 6gbs, even at 1080p for example
ehh ig, though thats relying on the assumption that it gets development for future games to matter, gamble either way
well 2060 was always a 1080p card
he means that it cant be used in games nowadays without running out of vram
even at 1080p
UE5 games too demanding
Nothing to do with UE5, 2060 aged like milk for the majotiry of games at 1080p
UE5 is the reason why some new games struggle to hit 100+ fps even with a 4090
yeah that has nothing to do with whats being discussed
I mean, I cant really just blame an engine for performance issues either. Its not like devs are being forced to use UE5. Its a choice they are making. A choice to use an engine version they know is not performant.
UE4 had the same issues back in the day, but over time became more and more optimized. Same thing back then tho, devs werent forced to use it in its early stages, but chose to.
Their naming scheme makes me confuse it for a motherboard

Is the amd 6700xt - ryzen 7 5800x build good to run bf2024 on QHD?
you mean 2042?
Yes
yes its fine, albeit dated parts, depends on the price
look into ampere cards and a 5700x3d, theyre more powerful and you can probably get them for a similar price
5800x is ok, but you might try to find something a bit newer
rx 6000 cards for new games will perform terribly
Rlly? I saw vids at yt where they try games on ultra settings qhd and it was above 60fps everytime
yeah thats cause they arent using raytracing
for any game that does it will be about 20 frames
get a 3060 or something its just better
Ye i asked him he said he wont use raytracing
is he wanting to buy any new game? because he will not have a choice in a few years
games are enforcing global illumination that cant be turned off
Tbh i got 3090 and raytracing there is also very bad for performance
Ye he wants a future proof budget pc
then definitely dont get him that card lol
So a different cpu?
On a budget, id get a 6750XT over a 3060.
no GPU, though you should probably swap the CPU aswell, look into a second hand rtx 3080
Ye
theyre probably roughly the same price
He wanted to buy 4070 super but i convinced him to not
why not?
If they have the budget for it, why not?
For a gaming Pc, they would be far better off to spend the most money on their GPU
^
Mb i meant 4060 super
there is no 4060 super
4060 ti 8gb
yes thats a bad buy, however tell him to get the 4060ti 16gb
Probably the 4060ti then, which I would get over the 6700XT. 8gbs on the 4060ti is the only concern of mine for 1440p and it being decent in 2-4 years
We saw testings together and the result was its the same performance as 6750xt
also make sure to avoid userbenchmark
DLSS, frame generation, drivers that dont break every 3rd release....and a stable set of good software features.
if hes wanting a "futue proof" system a 4060ti is by far a better purchase
where are ye located, and what store are you shopping with?
Oh ok i‘ll talk to him again cuz its only 150€ difference with 6750xt
Amazon from Germany
Dam...the 5800x is only 145 EUR on amazon haha
he'll be buying a new card far sooner with a 6750xt than a 4060ti 16gb, the difference is negated more or less
Nono 4070ti 16gb is 450 and 6750 is 325
What is the total budget?
1k
how much is a 5700x3d?
200€
get it instead with a 4060ti 16gb then, youre still well within budget
is about 25% faster than a 5800x
Get that, a B550 board, any ddr4 3600 kit and the 4060ti 16gb
Ight tysm
32gb of ddr4* to be specific
A 5700x3d is not for 140€
hes in germany..
Im in Germany too but theres nowhere a 5700x3d for that price
./shrug
it's 215 euro here in Poland
thats a 5700x
Its 285 but black friday its 51% sale
Ah, thts a normal 5700x, not the 3D
Is it much different

tbh its going to be that expensive that a 7600x may be cheaper all things considered

For a budget gaming PC, they are better off to get the cheaper 5700x and really cheap ddr4 ram
So 100€ more worth of difference?
IMO no
Just get the 5700x, it will be fine for the next 5 years of gaming. Its not the best CPU, but its far from the worst.
Yea we looked at intel cpus and amd 130€ was the best option for his budget
@livid finch regarding memory you need to be very specific, look for kits of memory which are cl16 3600, do not go lower as performance will fall off a cliff
so 16x2 cl16 3600
What about 3200mhz
On mainboard?
neither my 5600G or 5800X3D would boot with 3600 memory lol
if cl16 then its a no buy
Where can u see that
RAM
Ye its corsair 3200mhz 2x 8gb
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Kingston-Renegade-Desktop-Gaming-Memory/dp/B0CKJ71M2Y theres a kit for you
😭
do not buy that get the kit i linked
3200 c14 kits are the best you can buy, but the kit linked above is perfect for a build like this
Its cheap, fast and "will just work"
^
Its only 10€ difference from 3200mhz 2x 6gb
yes its a 15% performance difference, the 10 euro isnt worth it
add the one i linked to the basket and then forget about it

what processor do you have
i7 12700f
It will be next to no difference youll notice, so dont upgrade. But if buying for a new PC, just get this other kit
Oh ok
it only matters for ryzen specifically non-x3d parts, that is, the one youre buying your friend
np
From the boards I see available on amazon germany, id say the MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus is the best option. It has decent power delivery, cooling and has BIOs flashback included.
113 EUR its listed for
The MSI bios is relatively decent also
good board if wifi isnt necessary
Just don't use dragon center
I/O wise its also decent for the price. Onboard DP and HDMI, 7 USB ports and a type C USB 3.2 port
Yea we got the B550-A pro
Is it much different from the gaming plus
I think we‘ll go for the plus cuz it has 2 ssd slots
And cools the 2 ssd
Ye he uses lan cable
CES 2025 to feature next-gen hardware from AMD AMD has today officially announced the CES 2025 keynote. Zen 6

rdna4 not zen 6
you gonna wait for B770
with 5700X3D or 5800X3D you can comfortably skip AM5
they still hold up really well unless you got a 4090
True that
4080
yeah I can see that
main issue with 5700X3D is that it has 400-500 MHz lower clocks than the 5800X3D
5700X3D is literally just bad binned 5800X3D, the inventory of those SKUs will clear out pretty soon
makes no difference, 1-2% at most
Seems that the 9950x3d finally has v-cache on both CCD's
Was going to consider buying a 9800x3d coming crom a 7950x3d. But i'll just wait. Not to mention scalpers at Christmas time jacking up the price $200 bucks
Hello. I currently struggle with a problem on bf1 and bf5. when i launch the game, no pictures load and game goas black. none of the methods ive found on the internet work. is there anybode who has solved this problem recently and could help me? i can even pay a little amount of money, just help me fix it
how much money are you going to pay to play two games that collectively cost less than $4 right now?
are there any audiophiles here?
i just wanna know if the Sennheiser HD6602S and the cobalt dragonfly are a good combo or not
lemme do some high impact googling
uhh, I think those headphones might be a bit much for a tiny USB DAC like that, you'd really want a dedicated player made to run headphones like those, or a desktop amp.
like you could use 'em but I don't think it'd be of that much benefit.
yeah so it would really just be like 200 bucks down the drain
Yeah. I'm assuming you already have the HD6602S's?
so you think just plugging it into the 3.5mm jack of my pc with a desktop amp would be better?
nope
im considering buying them
Yeah, that would be a better setup for headphones like that. The HD 660S2's are like 300 ohm headphones.
aight
so the higher the ohm the lower the power or?
The more ohms a headphone has, the more power it's going to take to run them.
okay
do you have any reccomendations for a desktop amp?
https://www.schiit.com/ Schiit audio is generally recommended for desktop amps.
I love schiit
I can't speak to their quality personally, however, and it's probably worth looking around like, audio subreddits to get a better idea of the whole market.
I use a shiit stack for a few years now and it has been great
I am looking at the Fulla right now tho. Not that I have any headphones that would need an amp, really.
They're the schiit
I still need to get my SR850's fixed. :(
I just have a magni and modi stack
the schiit midgard looks to be good for my case, within my budget
Ye, it'll definitely run the headphones you want
mabye the magni, its hard to find the midgard in norway]
the schiit magni unity looks good
i also will say that i listen to quite heavy stuff
mostly death metal and some other lighter metal genres
can someone help me get better performance in the battlefield game
its js all laggy n everything
yo guys, im facing an issue with all battlefield games ( 1, V, 2042). The audio stutters like crazy, is there any fix to it?
your hardware?
idk, i thought i fixed it in the settings but its js
so bad
like the graphics, then the responsive time and the lag too
you don't know your hardware?
^ what is your pc hardware

hi
i have the directx error in my pc in bf1
can anyone help me?
4060 i7-13700hx and 16gn ram
when i try to launch battlefield 2042 it says i need to uptate nvidia geoforce or something like that, can anyone pls help
Do what it says. Update your GeForce. And prob your gpu drives
"just"
tfw you can't use your banking or payment apps anymore because the OEM of your device hasn't given it the latest security patch, even when you're bone stock and haven't done any modifications

Imagine MS doing this. Don't have windows with absolutely no modifications? Can't run anything crucial or even stuff like steam with how integrity failing can trip up some mobile games
I don't blame the security team under John wu, man makes some insane money, I respect that. But man
and Google will get away with this, as expected
1: this is a good thing
2: I had already said previously that attestation would be enforced eventually
3: having the ability to bypass safetynet is contrary to why it exists
and specifically this is about Google play system updates not android updates, these are fundamentally separate and the former is not handled by OEMs, it's handled by Google directly
It's less about security with this with this and more about having control over how people use their devices
but I suppose the apps need to be reassured the platform is 'safe'
As if simply having an unlocked bootloader automatically makes you a threat to the security of apps, some malicious attacker and that will magically make it the process easier for you. Root access I can get. But just an unlocked bootloader?
But I guess I shouldn't be surprised Google wants to further take away what android was known for to better 'mainstream' the appeal to the mass majority over the power users and tinkerers that make under 1%.
Jesus
Jesus, only one touchpad

There's buttons all over the back of the controllers and I accidentally press them constantly
looking to just upgrade the cpu part of my outdated socket motherboard
LGA 1151
currently i got 9400f
and im thinking of getting like a used i7 9700kf or i9 9900kf
I can atest to the above. The 9700K should be avoided at all costs.
Same with 9600K
Honestly I like that. Idk why the deck is still the only handheld with 4 back buttons. Everyone else does 2
also spoiler for everyone but RDNA4 will be a failure at launch the architecture doesn't support 2 pass through for encoding
Doubt most "Gamers" will care a lot about that, but it is a mega fail. These GPUs are probably cut back in every way possible to deliver at a lower cost
AMD Radeon still acting like the pc gaming landscape is back in 2012
guh?
And they'll still price them only $50 lower than the Nvidia equivalent card for each sku
Where RDNA5
Be an average cod fanboy.
“Trust me bro next one will be better”
AMD users be like:
9700k is 8 cores and no hyperthreading. It suffers a lot of issues in modern games due to this. In general it is a terrible CPU.
9600K is 6 cores and no hyperthreading, equally as bad.
Eh id say coffee lake is long in the tooth HT or not

No more girlfriend experience
10% yield means they ditch it altogether, there ain't no saving that
Yeah idk what they can use their own fabs rn for besides special uses
Besides still producing older gens
Lunar Lake, Arrow Lake and Arc gpus are all TSMC except for some foveros packaging
Its still being made I think
Make a 10950KS
the yield doesnt mean anything
we know dont the size
Yoda you are
Wasn't this going to be their saving grace?

Can't wait for 3EEBTafonO2irgin in the future
FYI China hack is still there embedded in every router telecoms use. Until they replace them, China can see all texts and calls
That's what happens when you make backdoors. People find out and exploit them.
it's been going on for years lol
Sure. Some governments insists on backdoors and have been doing it for a long time.
Ah you’ve meet the NSA and CIA
i operate with the assumption that i have no privacy on the internet
This is why we should become data brokers
Buy data and resell to other data brokers
Including big gov

kinda absurd that the entire world let them breach into everything there is, but what can you do against a superpower
im betting they where either bought off or coerced into allowing backdoors or blackmailed
has anyone had a reliable fix for unable to loard persistance error
9800X3D restock December 11/12
Nah i wait for 9700x3d
9700X3D with 400-500 MHz lower clocks to effectively make it similar to 7800X3D performance

$300 pls
Yea that wouldn't make any sense tbh xD
There is a 7600x3d tho
So I guess in 2 year we see a 9600x3d popping up shortly before zen6
Zen 6 is expected to launch earlier than previous architecture cycles
rumor says late 2025 but it probably will end up being 1H 2026
I expect CES 2026 to be the product announcement
It's very likely not on AM5 because of DDR6 support

It's so big!

Uh, new jones game seem to have a ryzen 7700 recommended or higher on steam. Is there any point to get it with 5800x3d?
I think you should be fine lol
Alright
Wait i already got gamepass this month so i can try it anyway in 3 days, forgot about it
Lol
9800X3D slightly better than 9950X3D by gaming average, dual CCD design will likely never exceed a singular CCD when it comes to V-cache, even if dual CCD has higher clockspeeds
