be waiting a few years for that lol
It's kinda funny cause wasn't AMD in the gutter cause of bulldozer and they've steadily rebuilt themselves as a result?
I dunno what era bulldozer is but I've heard it was pretty terrible and is why Intel got complacent.
nah
I mean bulldozer was terrible but it wasn't the reason
Ye isn't the other issue is that Intel just can't innovate enough?
bulldozer is FX, intel got complacent because the board at the top wasted tens of billions in failed acquisition strategies to try and turn intel into something it wasn't, such as McAfee and other bullshit companies, they had their processor divisions divested of resources for other get rich quick schemes because they didnt need to care
Intel got pretty complacent cause of BK
it wasn't amd who done anything, intel done it themselves
Yeah no I don't think amd directly did anything to Intel either.
Eh
It's pretty sad
Currently they've been cutting a lot of stuff
they were on the right path to redemption but the rot was that deep they had some 20 defect node issues in the old IFS, then they had to spend billions getting that up to standard tooling, it's like a zombie trying to turn into a human
there's also the actual internal power politics inside intel which stymied it for years, just a game of thrones type situation
Even 12th gen was a bit of a mess for intel. Needing to do a revision where they disabled AVX512 for example...then having it fully gone for 13th and 14th gen
it was actually fully fused off alder lake
they had a first batch of revisions which had it mistakenly included for adl so bios bricked it then the newer ones had it lasered off
Well yes and no. You can still use older microcode on 12900k to re-enable it
but ks is fully gone
you can if you have one of the models that has it, but if you buy a 12900k today it will be lasered off
You just need to disable E cores
the mobile parts were fused off aswell iirc
AVX 512 workloads on a 14900KS would make good room heating
What the fuck.
Finally got the monitor
The box is in absolute shit condition
But the content is all secured
Man I can't fucking believe I'm so close to getting this thing built
Building stream when
Is that the oled one?
Nice, I was looking at that monitor
But I’m not sure if I can go back from 49 to 34 inch
I got the 27" non curved
The AW2725DF
I can't game on bigger than 27" on pc. Tried 34 before and it wasn't for me.
I'm so used to the 34 inch
I'm going to miss it though
Not planning on having a double monitor set up
Double is perfect for me, as I can record bugs for reports on one, while having all my work apps on the other screen
Maybe a smaller monitor with the same hz I would love to experience the double monitor set up
I just really like the screen estate of my 49, especially for work.
I’ve been thinking to buy a samsung G9 oled and stack them.
or just buy a tv
What's this monitor specifically observer?
If it's 4k I may get it.
4k
Is it the AW3423DWF
NVIDIA RTX 50 in 2025 Kopite7kimi shares disappointing prediction. Shortly after Computex, journalists who attended the popular technology expo shared their insights from conversations with multiple board partners. However, unless they spoke with executives, this information is rarely accurate enough to provide a definite answer. Marketing pers...
maybe an announcement in January
It's a AW3225QF

Ah nice. I mistook the image for a widescreen haha
Lol
Yeah same
I was looking at this one too, but opted for thew 1440p/360hz model
I swear AMD took a note out of dices book to release their hardware at the end of the month and say hey it's releasing on this month technically!
the more time the better, always. 😄
Intel claims that instability is caused by elevated voltage, new microcode update incoming Finally, a statement on the ongoing saga. Game developers, system integrators, server providers, tech reviewers, and gamers were all waiting for Intel to provide a statement on the 13th/14th Gen Core instability problems. This statement was shared today. I...

yup already seen it
doubt it's just that lmao
there were only silicon defects for a short time in 2023

$1400
Roomba or 4090?
Never underestimate the ability of people to waste their money
Doesn't sound like a bad piece of tech to be fair.
Yo it got a spoiler now
If you have children and dont have time to game or mop the floor. That when you get that thing.
Single gamers in small spaces with plenty of time was never the audience for this
or you could have gotten a roborock qrevo s for 600 bucks that does all of that and probably better

Intel has finally published a statement about the instability of its Raptor Lake and Raptor Lake Refresh CPUs in the 13th & 14th Gen families of CPUs. The Intel 14900K, 13900K, and their alternative CPUs in the same generations now have a confirmed set of issues. Intel has...

Any pc literate gamers?
trying to see if I have any bottlenecks present here
reads like a prebuilt?
id highly recommend doing a custom build
Eh prebuilts with standard parts should be fine
I wouldn’t trust most people to put their own pc together
takes like 2 hours to do your first build, VERY hard to actually mess anything up, and typically will save a decent amount
Should be fine, I’d be planning ahead to upgrade the ram if you end up needing more but 16 should do you with that midrange specs
ram and 500gb of storage if he decides to go with this are obvious concerns
Yeah the 500gb storage is fairly low, can just add another drive down the line for storage though
It’s an nvme so decent for os drive
Although it honestly will be fine overall for a prebuilt
ill assume thats about 1k for a prebuilt system
The fact it’s got a non stock cpu cooler and a name brand PSU are good, it doesn’t say the case but that can be swapped down the line too if it’s especially awful like that Walmart case
depends which psu, even corsair and evga had dud psus in their line up depending on what oem they went with for specific models
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, GeForce RTX 4060, Corsair 3000D AIRFLOW ATX Mid Tower

7600x roughly 10% faster as well

What problem, no need to recall our non oxidation defective 13th and 14th gen at all 🤷

Avoid Intel.
It's not a bad pc.
But in the best faith way possible currently. I cannot recommend Intel.
this PR statement is a total disaster
every single 13th gen processor sold within the last year is now confirmed to be defective at a hardware level
they were very clearly trying to bury this issue and deal with it on a case by case basis, the big fucking problem now is it's now a gamble on if your bought 13th gen processor is going to die within 5 years
there are going to be investor lawsuits over this, you cannot not mention defects at a hardware level
Pretty crazy, specially if they aren't doing efforts to be transparent. Also if they don't offer refunds or new product to those affected
It makes no sense trying to keep this secret, it will eventually see the light of day anways 🤷
it's a complete shit show, everything which is classified as 13th gen is now potentially affected, processors sold on Amazon and that are in warehouses do not classify by batch, they are just sold by inventory, meaning if you buy one today you're also probably going to have a defective one
Rip those who buy, glad i switched to amd for my new pc upgrade
if you buy one from the second hand market you're probably buying a bomb and if you bought one already you probably classify under it, they need to do a full recall for purchases of any kind for 2023, millions of processors are on the line
That gonna be expensive, i suppose that is an understatement too
Man
would be a under estimate yeah, it could very easily go over the billion mark
Imagine all the money they spent on production etc... And imagine the recall, it's basically like they spent money not to earn anything. Maybe recall/refund would make it even more expensive
hello , i have a probleme with BF1 , i got it on pc recently (2000+ hour on ps4) and it refuse to launch game and say to me my connection is too bad to play this game, but on ps4 never had problem like this , and other game on pc never say i have a bad connexion (and when im able to connect to a bf1 server i have 20 milisecond of ping .. so i dont understand why it piss me of like this
I just saw in my Android Pie new phone there's an LTE button in the dropdown top menu and I been wondering what the heck it was: https://www.androidpolice.com/volte-guide
-# p.s. you might want to have an adblock ready cause omg this page is riddle with adds all over the place; it's like... overwhelmingly full of adds, like a literal minefield
(p.s. it's funny, you spot that gramatical mistake? The d from riddled got typed along with the d in ad -- funny how my brain fumbles sometimes...
)
What makes the Samsung g series monitor kind of a big deal?
there's nothing special about them
They seem kind of a cucked deal cause the one I was looking at has a micro DP port.
You have that 4k 34 inch oled alienware monitor yeah? @pale quartz
dell as they own Alienware but yes
I mean, it's the best monitor I've ever had so, pretty good bar by that I guess
in terms of OLED tiers it's probably one of the top 7 still to this day, it's only really beat by the 3rd gen panels
PG32UCDM
32 inch 4k
Oh yeah
it is WOLED not qd oled though
Is qd oled one of the better ones?
depends what your aims are
if you want colour vibrancy qd oled is significantly better, but it has text fringing issues, woled has less
Oh right
objectively they're both fine just different panel types
Do you have issues yourself with the text fringing issues?
depends how small the text is
Or is it noticeable if you really focus.
12th gen also suffers from instability and unstable memory overclocks but not defects or excessive voltage
it's not particularly a problem at 4k due to pixel density
not fixed, just less noticeable to being indistinguishable
I'd go get 4k oled curved 27i but it feels like it's impossible to find one.
id say there's not much to gain from a 27 inch tbh
people even underclock their 13th/14th gen CPUs at ~4 GHz and still get instability so I think voltage or power draw isn't the only problem
it you want 4k 32 is ideal
27 is too small for that resolution your pixel density will be too high
I guess that's an issue in itself yeah
32i is more expensive than 34 ironically
For that alienware monitor.
Honestly.
With the mindset of running 4k I'm not expecting 240 or something haha
As long as I can get a nice consistent 120 frames on 4k I literally cannot complain.
wrong mindset
for a high end panel you want a higher refresh rate due to cost investment than less
whether you can achieve it doesn't really matter, you have gsync
Oh no I mean im not gonna go out of my way to go for a low refresh rate monitor but as long as it's 144 to 165 I'm not terribly concerned.
I know that the higher refresh rates one are really good with screen tearing.
I remember you made a statement about the crazy 500 Hz ones.
mine is not 4k btw, it's 1440p uw, bare in mind
yeah
By the way what's your keyboard?
I've got the wooting two he
nope felt fine
for some reason every mechanical keyboard i try in an old really fastphased game called GunZ i keep getting clicks that doesnt register, only when using an old membrane keyboard of mine it works perfectly
more responsive and easier to use than normal keyboards
24 inch TN here
would a wooting improve that?

hard to say
theoretically yes
but it depends how that game registers inputs specifically
if it's a dead trigger as the description seems to be implying it would resolve it
Fair LOL
wootings software control isnt matched in terms of how much you can do, it's worth it's price in gold
in gunz you sit like this 24/7 https://youtu.be/lyQ2O-LtgRo?si=S2G75aSb8NZP0Dqe having a single missclick can make you lose
:D some random fail moves, this rather shows how I play nowadays (and I finally fixed the damn sliding bug which affects some dual cores!)
I like my Razer headset. it cost $40 and sounds fine for the 5 minutes a day I can actually wear a headset.
rapid trigger/scod seems like it would fix this, but again it's not a guarantee
ooh, plus it has integrated RGB so I can turn off the light completely just like the rest of my computer. amazing.
likely yes though
Guess I'll think about it for a bit.
It's a cool thing tho
I'm always for cool tech.
Wooting has better response times than Razer's Huntsman V3
there's no reason to buy the huntsman 3 anymore
wooting just added their fancy standout feature yesterday
I don't necessarily need a new keyboard but it'd be super cool to mess around with.
my last one was dying was a easy buy
To so easily replace hardware that's still just irks me
Heah
You had a proper excuse.
Regarding SOCD, can it be set to ignore specific keys?
Like if I'm moving forward (W) and press reload (R) will it cancel move movement?
yes it's similar to per actuation in that it can be done per key
No keyboard software for me at all
Cool, perfect then. And yes, wooting is around better than the razer.
Oh like a script in the sense of yeah I want to stop moving when I do this right.
What makes wooting better than razers?
Rip
Wooting could have added this ages ago, but chose not to due to feeling it was exploitive. They kinda have to add it now to stay the best/competitive
Better software, better build quality, etc
far more features, and you don't need razor garbage
the configs can be done entirely in browser
don't need a single piece of software
I'll definitely think about it for a bit tho.
I'm using an 8BitDo retro keyboard NES style even looks like the console
Zero software for my keyboard, Daskeyboard model S
wasnt it here tho that someone posted a video of a keyboard that solved a problem with wooting if you pressed two buttons at about the same time really fast and it would stall
Razer only advantage is availability
I got a good mouse from them at least.
Razer Kraken > Beyerdynamic headphones
the double shot keys are very nice I wasn't sure if I'd like the lekker switches
much better than abs cheap garbage
I wonder how well the wooting would do on ultrakill.
Full alienware setup

Considering the need for speed.
they work in them all
Cool
Need the most smooth volume knob
the hall switch itself is agnostic to the game itself which is the wild part
that wooting keyboard might have some kind of advantage in war thunder airplane battles and racing games
read that it can have controller responses
wtf
Has an advantage regardless due to rapid trigger
so you can make your character walk slowly instead of a jog when you press W key
yup
I find it wild that a company like wooting has had such a better product for so long
yeah its funny cause analog has been around for like 20 years
but the keyboard market had that much stagnation
I wonder how many times other companies have tried to buy them
wouldnt be surprised if they had offers tbh
since they hold the patent for the hall effect the ip would be worth a lot
They have all
You select precise layout before checkout
Product wise, they offer the same as other "leaders" and more than most
pretty sure even the double shot keys are still on offer
Don't most come stock with double shot PBT?
I just have a very basic Daskeyboard, has worked without issues though
Same.
actually nevermind it used to be abs
It'd be cool so see some kind of innovation.
lekker switches are the best part just feels like a dream to type with
Wooting might be the start of something cool.
The only keyboards where they videos with stuff like "This feels like CHEATING" is actually true lol
Full n key rollover?
didnt realise i was subconciously accounting for mechanical latency
included
Just ordered the fans and white cables
The last pieces of the PC.
Now I play the waiting game
Oh daskeyboard does have software for the newer ones
Weather adjusted RGB what
Oh well I dont want rgb
I don't either, but I do want fully controllable custom lighting. Like being able to set static white, purple, blue, etc. Rainbow or swapping colors is something I don't need
"Cool"
Get it
Cause you ordered the fans
Guys don't leave when I tell the funny
i just turn off rgb for the keyboard more distracting than not tbh
yuck

That's it
I'm ordering soon
Wtf
Did you install some owo plugin?

Hyte got a 7 day window to give me my fucking case. They promised to ship it late July.
What happens if they don't? The suspense is killing me.
Not sure other than fucking me over. I planned to have a PC built before September and half of August to prepare for the upcoming game releases so if they delay it, it's going to mess up that entire schedule
Intel Core Ultra 9 QS tested Wake up enthusiasts, there’s a new leak from Jaykihn. This leaker has provided numerous details on Intel’s upcoming hardware, including Arrow Lake, Lunar Lake, and more. The information appears very reliable and has already been partially confirmed. The latest update involves an Arrow Lake-S sample, which is a QS […]
Just do what I did. Go manic. Order everything for 2 day shipping, build the computer in a day. Spend the next month figuring out why the RAM sticks keep committing suicide. It's fun
Arrow-lake is garbage
Ryzen 9000 samples: missing in action Less than a week for testing. AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X processor, Source: Antony Leather/Forbes AMD is currently facing issues with distributing Ryzen 9000 series samples to reviewers. Several reviewers have confirmed off the record that they have not received any information on sampling or have been told samples...
9000 series about 5% slower than 7800X3D in gaming so they are giving reviewers very little time
we all know everyone are waiting for the next x3ds
why do they call them X tho as if they were overclockable
just name them 3D
(not saying this is apple vs android related) man i wish the whole apple vs android fanboy thing stopped
its insane people still do that
i bought the first iphone that was available in sweden, iphone 3g. and i gotta say with no background check that most phones after have just improved on their design
before that we had actual buttons on phones
unfortunately now im in the apple ecosystem and cant imagine leaving it
everything just works together so seamlessly
they support their phones for way longer it feels to me , i moved to an android cuz it was so cheap but the end of update after just a few years felt so cheap
i moved on to a custom mod android 14 on the phone and it works like a charm. so why cant we haven an actual update
because money
also that custom ROM will lock out safetynet features on newer phones so not so much
Samsung's update support has gotten significantly better over the last few years they're not that much further than apple nowadays, but it used to be far worse
they objectively did support their phones way longer than average, though i think most androids now support 4-5 years like apple does, but some years ago it was like 2 years of support vs 5
My Pixel has 7 years of support which is more like it
(support and hardware for the price was the main reason i first got my iphone 11)
my iphone 5 got new updates as long as it lived if i dont remember it wrong, they had to stop updating it cus no x64 support
yeah that doesn't happen anymore on iOS lol
you can forget support for hardware that is that type of ancient regardless of the vendor
pixel has one of the longest supports right? i feel if i went back to android i would try a pixel
yes
pixel is aosp
so it's very easy for Google just to push updates, they do literally no changes
no clue what aosp is
android open source project
it's the root ROM tree where android is built from
other vendors have to rework aosp updates into whatever they use e.g. Samsung with oneui
samsung sensors are better indeed. I wonder how they'll pull it off with their insane level of software optimisation
Maybe the edge chinese oems had in simply having stupidly good sensors will be gone.
I wanted more than OnePlus and Samsungs own special software and OS support. Pixel has not disappointed so far.
If Pixel phones had alert sliders I would jump on them immediately
But for now literally no one but apple and OnePlus/Oppo does them
why
oneplus top phones these days are as expensive as samsung, does anyone remember when they were the flagshipkillers with same hardware but way lower price?
I had the OP3, probably the last of their "flagship killers"
nah they're still well under samsung.
competitive yes flagship killer not so much
ive always questioned this statement considering you could get the lowest base iphone for 600-700 that had the latest hardware but typically a mediocre screen
the 3t etc still have the usual compromises you needed when you have a phone priced that low
Not really same hardware, they just offered a similar experience but without all the luxuries
People begged OnePlus to add 'luxuries' like IP rating and wireless charging
as well as competitive cameras
the tldr is it was not a good thing for OnePlus, it was a curse
and what led them to being second fiddle and eventually subsumed into oppo
wasnt oneplus also a membersclub first, u had to be a member to get an invite to buy the first
Pebble, Nextbit, OnePlus, Cyanogen, OPPO and the others are bound to betray you!

no that was just a gimmick to appeal to stupid enthusiasts
dumb fanboys fell for the marketing
OnePlus began making too many different models and they could not support the software of soo many. Imo. that's where it begang going downhill a bit.
as if anyone actually gives a shit about a phone nobody knows about
Now Nothing is doing the same thing.. except not at the same time
I really don't get why they made a budget sub-brand out of an already very new and emerging company
the lesson is phone manufacturing is expensive and if you aren't the biggest you won't survive, if you try to appeal to a echo chamber of dumb nerds who want to root their phone you are going to go bankrupt, and vice versa
they're just the easiest bait for you to pull in for consumers, expendable right after
well im looking to update , but idk what to pick. i was eyeing pixel 8a but people say it doesnt live up to 7a and just to go for 8 as its often sold for about the same
I think I'll still stay with oneplus for now. I need my alert switch
, coloros is bearable these days I suppose too.
Or you can be BBK and just make a new enthusiast brand everytime the last one matures
realme replaced OnePlus, now they're maturing too, time for a new brand I suppose
those days are dying as we speak
a lot of that was due to loose monetary policy in china where companies could forego profit in the name of expansion
but they were axed and it's only a matter of time till those companies fall under
I thought I would miss my alert switch. But not really though. Was surprised.
oneplus still got their nord lite series which is really cheap tho
limited software support on those previously though
Their update policy is at 4 years now I think for flagships and mid-range
apart from coloros the 12 is perfect for me so I guess I'll go with that
how do i fix the bug where battlefield 5 just stutters for 1 second then the game just closes?
my pc is not being overworked at all
Reckon the 9000 series delay was a precaution just incase due to Intel?
nope lol
august was the already scheduled timetable
this "delay" is them just cancelling their early launch
Do you have a link to a site about mobile phone processors by the way? @pale quartz
Full of their specs
for specs comparison in general I use gsmarena's comparison tool
Thank you
for snapdragon specifically the flagship stuff is usually 8 gen x etc.
midrange and budget stuff is 7 gen x
I'm pretty sure they retired the use of the 8XX or 7XX nomenclature too, that was pretty confusing
For mediatek and exynos higher no = latest and better afaik
redmagic making the coolest phone ever stuffed with great specs and genuinely impressive tech for insane value before dropping it with absymal software support and forgetting it even exists after 6 months before proceeding to release the next one.
You get what you pay for.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
A fast, cool phone, with a long lasting battery
Rather pay 600 for a top tier phone evry 3 years, than 1200 for a worse one that might last 4
by might last 4 you mean would last up to 7 years with a battery replacement in between
true, i wish they atleast tried with their software, some of their settings pages have literal spelling mistakes
Which pages?
But the hardware team at nubia is genuinely impressive
tbf I guess they probably solved that issue, it was the gaming page, like a year ago.
Probably info from someone who bought the chinese version and changed language to english
Ive never noticed translation issues on the Global version
The cameras are not great (Compared to apple/samsung devices) but they are good enough for what I will use them for. 😄
Seeing all of the shit Intel is causing. Glad I went amd
Not me. I'm hoping people start panic selling off their 14900K/KFs so I get a cheap upgrade.
so meta llama 3.1 was announced and in benchmarks it seems to shred gpt4o and gemini 1.5
But still not as good as claude 3.5 sonnet
I feel fortunate there too.
microcode updates will make 14900K slower than 12900K lmfao
no point in getting LGA1700 CPU at all
better off even with AM4

Arrow-Lake supposedly has lower clockspeeds than Raptor-Lake refresh, 9% IPC gain
Probably a silly question but do all 40 series cards have the frame generation feature? Like the 4060 to 4090 all have it
Yeah they have DLSS 3.
Not a dumb question it's always good to confirm!
I asked if there were peanuts in my chocolate when it stated it had peanuts the other day so I'm with you on that boat LMAO
Can't wait until 5xxx gen which will arrive with DLSS 4, which they ofc. wont roll out support for previous gens, and then have all games after that skip DLSS 2 and 3 and only release with DLSS 4 support.
#speculation
4090
Well yeah
Also 90 if you want it too last some years
Games gonna need more and more vram in no time
ngl 24gb vram kind of op still lol
90 cards are generally low value though
Yeah i would agree, but if you got coin for it why not
3070 too 4070 ti super was good upgrade maybe not so much value wise, idk didn't calculate. I tried cyberpunk and got average 105 fps with all maxed out, dlss performance
My PC upgrade will be the last thing I'll spend on my self for a few years on end building up my life.
So kinda
I want to go all out
I don't want a 950x3d but I know that if I get that it'll last me a little longer.
always get the fastest GPU available in the market and ignore everything else

5090 might be overkill for my 5800X3D
or, get a 70 series at 1/3rd the price, then get a next gen 70 or 80 series in a few years. Same price.
That is the smart thing. But I also doesn't do that
idk, 4070 is too overpriced for the peformance, especially with the 7800XT and 7900GRE being cheaper
5070 gonna be worse
4070 should have been $350
it's a severely cut-down GPU
like 30% of the cores are disabled
80s
What happens when they get to the 90 series, will the next series be called the 100 series?
It’s all about that 69420
what's the current good partner for a 3070 as far as cpu goes
Depends on the game, but something like a 5700X-5800x3d or the 7 series equivalent for AM4 seems reasonable
Depends on budget.
The best, is the fastest cpu possible with ample cores/threads, but if you can't afford that, it's not on the cards
Have ram prices fallen back down?
the allure of finally getting 32gb is potentially high
4k card? nvidia promised 8k for 3090 and now it can only hold up 120 fps in 1440p or 4k dlss in best case scenarios

but this was a while ago
to be fair
true it got a hefty 24gb of vram for the heavy use
24 fps
i think my 5800x3d top out at about 100fps in heaviest of bf2042 128p scenarios aswell
Hope they get paid over time.
5800x3d will always bottleneck a 4090 lol
5800X3D is still a fast CPU, though not in games that don’t benefit from L3 cache
5800X3D comes within ~10% of a 7800X3D in lots of games
4090 gets bottlenecked by everything unless you’re at 4K/8K with raytracing
Gotta wait for Zen 7 to unlock full potential of RTX 4090
Makes me wonder how bad the 5090 will be in that regard then.
Horrible
it's not a problem, it's a good thing
True
I mean I think it goes either way.
Overkill means futureproof if you look at it in a positive way lol
Need AMD and intel to cook something better
no it's just strictly a good thing because it what it means in practice is you get scaling the more you upgrade the processor relative to actual GPU performance
It's cool and sucks that we won't be able to fully utilise it unless you really push it. Imma go push 300 GPU frames on 4k haha
Oh true
rather than the opposite of having it immediately flat lining
CPU bottlenecked? Clearly not me /s
I like having my GPU bottlenecked because that means it’s not putting out a lot of heat lol
that processor of yours is more vulnerable than windows at this point
taks
That's one thing yeah.
Arrow-Lake is practically a refresh in terms of performance
Arrow-Lake has ~5% gain at best
Oh yeah I did hear that the 40 series is really good with transient spikes. Is that true?
I do know the specs
Should see my workplace then
Taks gonna double his CPU gen count. Gen 8 to gen 16 to gen 32.
My workstation uses a 6200U
And the other one used C2Q
I'm not even joking.
my job gave me a laptop connected to a monitor that can only run 1 app without bugging
Sophos AV and not crowdstrike though

whats up with computer related work giving you computers that would be considered normal technology in 1950
- Its cheap
- Some of our software and drivers only work on older versions of windows
probably not for the reason you think, they don't have a choice most of the time
businesses do contracts with suppliers who decide the specifications rather than the business the best majority of the time
We dont
they just provide the "requirements" that need to be satisfied and it's left to the supplier
But also small company so
ye different situation then
would be more a sme but depends on the companies goals specifically
if its actually tech focused they will provide it most of the time
outlier then ig
cheap and the company who makes the extremely niche specific tailored software they might use can't be arsed to update it to work on newer Operating systems.
How's your harassment though? Or do they have you beat in that as well
I fucking knew they were delaying it. Good thing I ordered it in May. Hope they don't delay it again and fuck me over
I ordered the snow white version

Wooting does it so much better than Razer
while having faster response time too
Lol, another compromised account scammer
Currently looking at the i5-13600kf and the Ryzen 5 7600X
Does the number of cores matter or is the ghz more important for gaming purposes. I wanted to learn rendering but ehh
I generally advise at least 8 core 16 thread these days.
And stay away from intel
Don't go intel
Is the 7600X good for physic simulation
Get an 8 core if you can afford it. 7800x or 7800x3D
Get the 7800X3D
Usually with such works you WANT cores and a good speed behind it of course. Intel has always done well in this part sure but AMD won't fucking die on you.
7700x min for sure.
HAHA, WHAT
a Logitech G13 goes for $500?!?
fuuuuck. I was going to sell this thing for like $50 to get rid of it.
nah, $100 on ebay. that seems more reasonable
Noone is gonna buy it for 500, or 100
if someone comes to my house and takes it, that'd be cool
disposing of e-waste is more annoying to me than not having the $20 i'd probably get in this shithole town
True, but I dont think youll get much interest listing it at 100. New they were 135 IIRC. Most people dont want to touch membrane keys anymore 😄
the keyboard?
it's got 22 macro keys, a little analog stick with two buttons, and then a little lcd or whatever
Oh wait a streamdeck thing, jesus how is it over $500
nah. it's a game controller from a dead early 2000s era
it served its purpose well. i used it for an mmo, especially macro crafting. maybe i can use it in microsoft flight simulator. it's a shame it feels like i'm poking a pile of goo when i use it 😐
I love how it has a tiny lcd too.. for whatever reason
I'm assuming to easily switch different profiles or whatever
i need that g600...so i have a backup again
I just checked and asus azoth extreme keyboard with an improved oled display on it goes for 600usd here
Isnt that alot
Maybe its worth it if you really use all of its features
But it seems excessive for me
Ordered a wooting keeb today 🙏
Nice
Wooting keyboards are the new G502 of peripherals
even they have been around for 7 years
breakthrough development
We have keyboards with tiny oled displays in the budget segment now.

They're like under $60-70, plastic or mostly plastic chassis obviously, but they're not really prebuilt. Though I find that more enticing, where's the fun with a prebuilt
Wooting's stuff does interest me though
The fans, cables, Anit static mat, and the screwdriver kit (for the PC building) has finally come
The only thing left is that PC case that was recently shipped
you can just use the knife to build the pc
Well I do have to open the boxes
You using a regular kitchen knife to open those? And not a special 'unboxing' box cutter?
i just pick at the corner of the tape until it finally peels up, then i start pulling it up until it tears in half and i repeat, then i just rip the box open
I didn't get a pro psu cable kit. I knew I was a fucking amateur. Now I have anecdotal evidence.
fr though those cables look nice.
Saw that my case is coming on the 30th. Getting excited

You know the sad thing about this situation is how from my understanding intel tried their hardest to hide any issues. If they was open and transparent about it and showed interest in correcting the errors for those affected, they wouldn't come out of the situation so badly.
they were hiding issues in an effort of damage control (hold onto stockholders in anyway possible) but failed because they spent months without a statement
just made themselves look worse to the public
Damage control, i think better approach would be too deal with it properly and not loose more costumers. If i was a stock holder i would appreciate my money being in a company that deals with any issues in an ok way. Cause in the long run your coin gonna loose value quickly with stupid things like this
But hey, no need to bother about intel products anyway i am thinking. From what i know AMD basically has strongest consumer cpu at this time, also already have superior gaming cpu's for a long time 🤷
I am not so good at reading but is this current? Also could this be fixable by bios updates? 🤔
yes
it's not current it's a old exploit
the article is deceptive with the title, it's not a problem with secure boot rather a root key got compromised accidentally
manufacturers can provide firmware updates to just remove it
it is not a full bypass as bit locker and TPM will still require separate keys, it only allows bypassing the secure boot authorisation specifically
Ah i see 🤔 ty for info

My case has been bumped to July 29th and it's being held in California.
So, 139.99 eur a good price for Razer huntsman v3 pro. The shop I'm in now has it stocked for that price and I think they priced it as a blackwidow 😅
Got it, screw it
CHEATER
is that the A/D when shooting keyboard?
yes, similar to wooting

does it really make that much of a difference tho
depends on the game, I know some Counter Strike players that would love it
saw a video where someone showed it, it looked kinda crazy in some games but in other games i didn't see what the big deal was
i never tried CS though
Snap tap isnt all that useful in 2042, but it does make movement more responsive and AD strafing easier
Like instead of having to swap between A and D to move left/right while ADS, you can just hold A and Tap D and they will alternate. If you do that on a conventional kb, the inputs will just cancel each other
its not the "movement" in cs that makes it good for that game, its that counterstrafing perfectly is hard to do, and if gives you perfect accuracy, this basically just makes it automatic
Its both TBH.
CS will probably change it tho. Cos its a significant advantage
Like make there be more of a delay when stopping a strafe to full accuracy
Or just ban anyone who uses those special types of keyboards
can they actually do that tho?
I invited my friend to my party and I joined a server
but he didn't join
I tried inviting him
in the game
the game told him that the game could not be found
how do I play wit my friend
They could not allow the game to launch of you use a software like Razer Synapse, but Wooting boards all use onboard memory IIRC. SO there isnt much they could do there TBH
Anybody know what windows services specifically are causing EA anti-cheat to shit itself and shut down 2042 with it?
For example, I'll play normally: game shuts down after 10-15 minutes with no error message, I look in the event viewer and it says EA anti-cheat crashed.
I do a clean boot and disable all non-microsoft services as recommended: game works fine, but now I can't make shadowplay recordings, have my chroma or case lighting, can't edit my razer device settings as Synapse is disabled, or talk on discord, etc.
This wouldn't piss me off so much if it was an instant shutdown that I could troubleshoot faster, not something where I have to play in a real game for over 15 minutes to see if it'll function. No other game does this, it's infuriating.
nope, was just joking
Wooting keyboards don't have their own special overlay so it would be impossible to detect ig
it's not that crazy of a thought, i mean look at the strafing in overwatch with this keyboard https://youtu.be/Feny5bs2JCg?si=vDBerOG2iCjjGSOh

its kind of disorienting to try and predict strafing like that tbh
what if hardware in the future is so powerful it changes how the game is played
https://videocardz.com/newz/intel-confirms-no-recall-for-raptor-lake-cpus-microcode-wont-fix-affected-units well that settles it lol
Intel finally provides a clearer overview of Raptor Lake instability issues No recall, no fix for affected CPUs, investigation still ongoing. Intel has responded to press inquiries about the instability issues affecting 13th and 14th Gen Core processors. Questions from The Verge to Intel were prompted by an earlier, rather underwhelming stateme...
rip
anyone couldve seen that coming
it seems like this might be a situation where they have to change the mechanics to not allow this kind of movement
"That's a shame. Anyway, buy our new gen lol."
Please tell me it at least uses the same socket, right? They wouldn't make 13th & 14th gen users get a whole new mobo if they wanted to upgrade, right???
corporations are known for their outreach to the community with the decisions they make. I'm sure it will be fine.

Few weeks old, but damn, I forgot they actually promised this back in 2021 or something
and they actually did it
Yeah it's only for their older architectures tho lol
Oh
nope, new socket only
Arrow-Lake is a Rocket-Lake moment except without being held back by an ancient node
Rip intel's future, gonna grab some popcorn and see the stock price probably falling big time. Specially rip customers whit these CPUs, sad to see this little customer care. Glad I moved to AMD CPUs, they got best consumer CPUs anyway from what I understand
By recall if they mean refund/replacement of course. Just read the title
AMD and Nvidia now confirmed for the future 100%
One day Nvidia will stop making GeForce gaming GPUs because it loses them a ton of profit
why sell RTX 4090 for $1600 when you can turn it into a server GPU and sell it for $20,000
Shareholders are really trying to push Nvidia to pull out of the Gaming market entirely
I am sure the company will experience growth regardless 🤔
To me statement about shareholders trying to push nvidia out of the gaming market dont make sense to me. Don't nvidia have like server/data center gpus outside geforce?
Doubt you will be able to sell a 4090 for 20k
It would be like buying a mini cooper for the price of an A320 or something
as a server GPU it could go for well over $100K since there is no competition in that market
Nvidia could price it more than the entire city of Dubai
you can do that when you own the market
yes it's just false projection
NV aren't going to leave the consumer market lol it's just free money for them
how would you quantify the cost of a city
Mini cooper could price it more than 100m USD as well, nobody would obviously buy it
Yeah, also if they can keep their hands in many parts of the market i don't see why they would do less. Unless they are performing poor, but as for their gpu's are superiour all round. Gaming, workstation applications etc... I heard AMD has access to cuda now if i am not completely wrong, i would take that as AMD now also entering workstation aspect of the market too
Don't AMD usually have better pricing as well? So might be some competition in the future i am thinking
Moneys
they don't have access to cuda, it's entirely locked to NV GPUs, that tool simply allows for reverse engineering it
There is a hardware flaw in Raptor Lake, and it affects future Intel CPUs.

What's the general opinion on that dude?
(Moores law is dead)
He's been clamouring that Sony has been secretly somehow making a psp 2 for the past 3 years

I was just talking about that today LMAO
How a proper ps handhold these days would be amazing.
But
Jesus

It's years from now, whether the ps portal existed or not
That device is just a $200 accessory
portable handhelds are at least $400 with more expensive models above that
i still remember when you could get a dual top end gpu like gtx 690 for less than a medium range gpu is now
when will prices stop spiking
Never
😦
i read that nvidia might reintroduce the titan series again, would that be a step above 5090/6090 or just take its place
Nintendo 3DS successor with Nvidia ARM CPU and GPU

That's just the switch
Switch was the mergence of handhelds and consoles
Nintendo will probably stick with dock-able handheld consoles for the rest of their existence with the success of the Switch compared to the Wii U
aslong as nintendo got the genius shigeru miyamoto at their side with stuff like zelda and donkey kong they will do well
cool
was fun but graphics were so bad
i think most ppl buy nintendo for mario kart, mario party, zelda, kirbey, donkey kong etc
their own brands

I made the internal render resolution of Super Smash Bros Melee about 16x higher resolution

nice nice
begone pixels
they can't use it, it's just a decompiled framework which is an interface for software, using cuda is and always will be a NV only feature
Radeon uses rocm, which AMD themselves don't give a shit about
CUDA requires physical hardware dedicated specifically for it iirc
bad memory
GTX 690 was expensive
for that time it was still a halo class price lol
I swear the 690 was damn near $1000
ye but now its medium range price
true
back then you were still paying top dollar nothing particularly changed, just you get much better value out of the halo range today
the first gpu i bought myself was a nvidia 9800gtx+ and all of a sudden i could run crysis instead of the old computers i got from my dad
damn im old
i think i paid 250usd for that

what does reinstalling drivers do to my pc?
if a gpu driver become corrupt it might be good to use something like ddu in failsafe mode and start over, but thats nothing u normally have to do
guess i dont need to do it if i have issues with specific games only
maybe not, but im not an expert. what i normally recommend is to verify game files, update all drivers, try to remove overclocks if you get any problems
the issues i have arent my personal hardware issues at all usually
specifically ea games just not working properly
you could try to press the 3 lines , press help. then app recovery and clear cache
press 3 lines where?
top left corner of ea app
would that solve the crashing bugs?
i wouldnt know
because its specific games that just close for no reason
if you need more help contact help.ea.com
no worries
suppose needs to be a cope mechanism

mid size motherboard with 3 m.2...does such a thing exist
what is mid size motherbord? Just regular ATX?
Because my ATX sized motherboard has 4 m.2 slots
They are all type 2280 with 1 x 128 Gb/s and 3 x 64Gb/s'
m.2 is just a connector, you could convert it to sata and add a 100tb drive if you want
hell, it's a pci-e port with a fancy small form factor, you can connect a floppy disk if you really wanted
The OS will probably have a theoretical maximum it can display and handle but I doubt you will care
Store 1000 games that are 100gb each
number of nvme slots isn't governed by board size rather the chipset
you can run off a similar amount on a mATX board, just cut off other things
I know
Just used my own board as an example as I didn't want to get into board chipsets and their designs
Im using 1 as a boot drive, and bought a 1tb for games...which quickly filled up
since deleting some unused games ive freed up space but basically at the point of 1-2 more games and its full again
so my shopping list would be everything minus a gpu
and probably would want to add an additional drive on
My board got several m2 slots and gpu slots aswell but if i use more than one gen4 gpu and one gen4 ssd at a time they wont run in full bandwidth or something like that. Its kinda confusing
i currently have the z370 evga board, and iirc using 1 of the m.2 on it takes away 2 of the sata ports
Some ppl might just buy 3 or 4 gen4 ssd plug them in and hope they run at full speed
Gaming doesn't utilize at SSDs that much though, mostly when loading the game up
Steam can top out my gen4 nvme tho when updating large packages
Sure, but the GPU usually does nothing at that point
as the updating happens outside gaming
not the case anymore
texture streaming relies on I/O read bandwidth to be able to be done effectively, its done by most modern games in some fashion
why using a single SSD can cause micro stuttering if it's under heavy load
I havent noticed any stuttering with only one m2 nvme, but i also got two sata ssd so that probably helps
I mostly have games on other SSDs than my OS drive
(its also 256GB so im not getting much on that anyway)

Is 27“ good for a 1080p monitor?
no
It's ok in normal scenario. It is absolute max for 1080p though, if you sit VERY close to monitor you might see pixels. At arms lenght you should be fine tbh
I use a 1080p 24“ now and it looks worse than my old 27“ 1080p monitor
Probably because of the panel
Could be
IPS should give you most accurate colours if i am not remembering wrong
To clarrify, pixels as in these
What is freesync permium
Nope OLED
IPS can also give accurate colors but the blacks won't be that good
OLED in first place is because essentially it can perfect blacks
and great uniformity
IPS has ips glow, va have ghosting problems
Though OLED does have it issues, burn in is a big one
That one is more common on all monitors type due to something factory but oled used to have brightness issues
since if you get it too bright, burn in is way more suspectible
did the oled fad start dying out? seems like it was the up and coming thing a couple years ago
Nope
I think the OLED is going to be expensive for a while
like it's life is mostly targetting upper people, miniled for poorer people as it'll get improved
ah, still expensive
PPI (pixels per inch) is terrible at 27 1080p
My old 27“ 1080p looks better than my current 24“ 1080p
definitely not clarity wise, color wise probably
two different things
Could be though
Probably just bad monitor the 24 inch
24 and 27 inch should look the same, only diffrence would be you might see pixels on 27 inch if sitting closer than arms length
quality
different panels tho
Cool
Is there any such device that can be added to a mechanical keyboard to reduce key travel distance?
You want to reduce the travel distance until activation or travel distance until you bottom the key down?
Bottom out. Could be done with O rings I guess
Exactly, O rings feel bad though
Maybe nylon O rings?
there are also stuff like https://www.elitekeyboards.com/product-page/soft-landing-pads-soft-black although that is mostly for the noise
I think some way to physically limit the bottom out would be interesting to see on an analog keyboard. since you can set the actuation point to be very shallow.
you want a keyboard where just resting the fingers on a key activates it? 😄
Im used to low profile keys for a long time now, but I prefer the responsiveness of analog. Basically want the best of both worlds
Just remember that the perfect gaming keyboard for you might suck for writing
But yeah, you can try a couple of hard O'rings
might sound like crap though
I would love to see keyboard tech expanded.
Beyond just
Clicky clicky keys
The thought if analog keys made me think imagine if there were keys that could be pushed and pulled.
Like a joystick.
It'd be awkward but I get it could be made to work.
Its technically possible, but I think that would be weird behavior for a key
If I understand you correctly, you mean mapping a key, for example W, to be both W and S. So pressing down would move foirward, releasing would move backwards.
Works in theory, but in practive I think it would feel horrible
Uhhh
Like the tech I had in mind is pretty bad but the idea would be to control the percentile of movement.
Like if I pressed forward 20% I would be talking at 20% walk speed.
Already can be done with analog keys
But I think a better way to do that is make it more how far down you press controls the speed.
Ah yeah
I'm not ultra familiar with thise
To me
The idea of a keyboard is haha keys go click click
@pale quartz Does mapped analog input on the wooting board you have interfere with typing when its active?
as long as you're interfacing through xinput it doesn't
Seems like this is a limitation on the razer boards
How come my cpu utilization is 90-100 and gpu is 80-90 when playing in co-op but my gpu utilization is averaging at 60 and cpu at 100 only when in conquest 128
I’m on a 9400F and a rtx 2070 super with optimized settings I will be getting a new pc soon anyways also the games downloaded on an SSD
Cpu not fast enough to feed gpu more than 60% of it's capability since it's at 100%
Also co op is like 64 ai players aswell if i am not wrong
So in short cpu bottleneck
why 5600x3d gotta be MC exclusive
🤔
oh it was 5800 chips that werent good enough so they cut it down
Can someone help me please ?
I urgently need help! I got the Battlefield 5 software on the EA app and now I want to play it with my controller but it doesn't work. I've been sitting at the PC for 3 hours watching tutorials but none of them work
Real players require more CPU resources than AI. Your CPU is under the minimum requirement for this game also. It requires at least 8 threads, you only have 6
Playing via steam or EA app?
and what controller. If you want to be helped, give details
Via Ea App I bought the game there and with a ps4 controller scuf
Add the game to steam as a non steam game. Then do this:
Doesn’t work
👍
It only shows the mouse
I seriously doubt you watch that and did all suggested in that time, but OK. Thats how I make it work
When I use usb to connect the controller should I remove it out the settings ? I mean the first part in the vid
If you use USB, ignore Bluetooth connection part
Make sure you have playstation controller support enabled in steam of course. But id wager you have already done that.
My controller is not on input but on audio
PS4 controllers are an audio device
A
Same with PS5
As you can connect headphones to them/PS5 controller has a usable mic and headphone attachement point
Ok
I have PlayStation support on aktive but there is a thing called in games without support aktive which one ?
Do other games on steam detect and use your controller?
No
Well then this would point to the issue being your controller setup, and/or configuration
Is my scuf a generic controller ?
I have no experience with them, so I am not sure. Normally they work as playstation controllers. But I cant be sure without access to the hardware
Mhm in Fortnite my controller work but in bfv
In the part where you showed me the templates above where 3 controller at my steam there is none
Fortnite and EGS uses its own controller settings/support
There is a template called bfv support ps4
so considering ive stuck with an 8600k for ~6 years... would adopting a 5700x3d with the now discontinued am4 socket actually be an issue..
when i originally built this pc i was using a 1070ti as a placeholder, and got the 3070 eventually- so in the future i could always get a replacement gpu and still be fine with the cpu for a long time it seems?
am4 is a dead end
Its only an issue if not having any upgradeability at all is an issue for you
Otherwise, its a flat out upgrade in pretty much every area you could measure
All depends on budget and whether you NEED to upgrade right now
Id look at reviews like GNs, then try to extrapolate how much faster your CPU performance would be: https://youtu.be/llKZzym9hAo?si=-tn8C8-2g4vWqWca

This review & benchmark of the new AMD R7 5700X3D Ryzen CPU tests the 2024 launch vs. AMD's R7 5800X3D, the modern 7800X3D, Intel's 14600K, and plenty of other CPUs. The primary focus is on the R7 5700X3D vs. the 5800X3D, as many AM4 owners may be seeking one final upgrade before...
I would honestly say get a 7800x3d. It'll last you a little longer.
For example, your CPU is about the same spec/performance as a 3600, so you can roughly gauge how much faster a 5700x3d would be
5700x3d isn't necessarily bad but it's a little too late.
