Starfield runs at 60fps for me but I'm used to 120+fps. pray for me to get through this hard time.
Does the dlss mod work on gamep ass
yeah it does
This download installs Intel® Graphics Driver 31.0.101.4676 for Intel® Arc™ A-Series Graphics and Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics.
FIXED ISSUES:
Intel® Arc™ Graphics Products:
Starfield* (DX12) may exhibit texture flickering on light sources during gameplay.
Starfield* (DX12) may incorrectly render glass surfaces in the game.
Starfield* (DX12) may exhibit missing eyebrows on characters.
KNOWN ISSUES:
Intel® Arc™ Graphics Products:
Starfield* (DX12) may experience application instability in some areas of the game.
Starfield* (DX12) may exhibit corruption when using Dynamic Resolution Scaling. A workaround is to change the Render Resolution Scale slider value.
Starfield* (DX12) may exhibit low texture details on certain objects in the game.
Note this is still iterative, we aren't fully "fixed" but this should be a big improvement on crashes that consistently happened in areas that are now resolved. But there are some sporadic ones you may experience that continue as Intel (and hopefully the developer) also work on patching.
It's not really based. My 2000 dollar PC built in 2023 doesn't run it well
Todd running the game on PC 2
thank Nvidia for not bothering to improve performance for their drivers
is fine otherwise
reBAR is switched off for the game which is an immediate 15% reduction, the game's overall performance is satisfactory for what's going on at one time
lmao ×2
lmao on your graphic card.
lmao on the game.
why they think
that its what cause the crashes
bro like tf bad graphic card cannot cause crashes
Starfield didnt even do AMD right. made AMD gpu look good and AMD cpu look bad.
🤣
So how does REBAR work?
Yes
it's a PCIe setting which is enabled at the driver level, it enables software to write to VRAM in large chunks up to 4GB per transfer buffer instead of the default 256MB
where that factors in is with high volume transfers to memory (e.g. high resolution textures, or models which have a lot of detail) which exceed the normal 256MB size, as it then has to be broken up and transferred in different buffers rather than in a single one, which is why it has such a big impact on performance for games which demand a lot of asset streaming in and out of memory
those dev kits be strong af
Hello BF community i am looking for some assistance my friend trying to launch the game but he keep getting error (The Application Was Unable to Start Correctly 0xc0000142) at end of easy anticheat, we have been looking since morning for solution but we couldnt find any can someone please assist ?
I want to add that he got game from xbox gamepass
i have it on steam and i have no problem at all
Pls let me disable voicelines
anyone know any workaround?
id be fine with even corrupting them so that they dont play
or editing them to empty mp4 files
you cant
where are the voicelines stored?
Benchmarking the AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB and High Bandwidth Cache Controller (HBCC) in 15 games using an average gaming PC in 2023.
With VRAM becoming a point of contention around graphics cards these days, AMD came up with a solution for those who felt like 8GB wouldn’t be enough in the future. In fact, they came up with this solution about ...
damn didn't know the vega 64 is still powerful
Nowhere where you have access
Could anyone help please :( ?
Uninstall EAC from Add or Remove Programs
Reinstall EAC manually from the game folder.
He tried it and it didnt work
Also want to point out that u cant find EAC from Add or Remove

I reset my nvidia setting to default now my game looks like this
anyone know what's wrong 😦
in case configs got screwed up because of your now default video settings for nvidia
in which case you could possibly move configs to desktop to see if game creates new ones and fixes the issue
it did look like a shader problem, didnt know that nvidia settings would screw with that tho
yeah, wacky
Whichh gpu do i buy?
I want a decently not acient one, but not as expensive as a mid tier computer
Is rtx 2000 series terrible?
depends on what you get I guess
you should not be buying any Turing card anymore
at an absolute minimum ampere or RDNA2 are mandatory, it's questionable if you should even be buying those nowadays
Resetting your driver probably changed the default cache size
yeah I was setting it to 100gb, the default size is 4gb
I keep mine to unlimited for convenience
driver problem with rx 6600. Game says that I've too old drivers but I've the newest.
I think i broke my oc
Pc
So it tilted too the front
And now everytime i start it up
Or shut it down
It makes like drilling noises
As in somebody is drilling the ground
I have no idea how
The only moving parts in a PC are the blessed fans
put pc on a table and open the side cover and then turn it on, you should be able locate where the sound is coming from
The problem is
The sound is gone
I think my pc was making rhat noise because of how hot it is
And my cooling started tripping
Because of 2042
Not how that works
It was very likely just a loose cable hitting one of your fans
That could also be a option
It could also be your floppy drive getting the wrong voltage from that molex connector
depending on the age a pc can have a lot more moving parts 😄
BRO
everytime I slap on my desk
the sounds comes bakc
back
wtf
I cant locate it
because its so fucking random
its like an actual sound that you like can hear as in something is banging on something
fast
fans break sometimes, doesn't have to be something actully hitting the fan
lol, sound like an alarm clock
ITS SO ANNOYING
the speed is very fan like
yah
but it's hitting something hard
yeah
So what happend
my pc
leaned forwards
and now its sometimes
making that noise
was it running?
yes
Something is hitting something, and one of the things sound like metal.
Can't really help that much 😄 if you can't figure it out you just have to do it the hard way and disconnect fans to see what makes it stop
BUT iTS GONE
IT COME AND GOES
GRRR
is it normal
that my graphics cards
fans aint running
new graphic cards fans only run when the card gets hot enough, which is typically while gaming, not while idling in Windows
It sounds like a fan, all are possible
A broken GFX fan is not that bad, just buy a good fan like a nocua for static pressure and ziptie it to the card and run it off the motherboard
if it's not under warranty ofc.
pff
checked the Power Supply (PSU) fan?
Bring your pc to a store, let them check it for you
this is a PSU. It's where you connect power to. But don't stick anything in there, it can kill you. You however might be able to look at its fan and check from that.
Yeah
But since you didn't know what a PSU was, going to a store might not be a bad idea.
Im pretty sure its that
Because
the noise comes from there
my stepdad made
the pc
With which tool do I get out these
It ain't pretty but it works sound like perfect line for Bethesda games bro
again, if you don't know what you are doing, you should not mess with a power supply. It can kill you even if it is not connected to power.
I unpluggged it
but idk
I plugged it back in to be sure
and not too mess with it
just wondering if i optimise games in geforce app, if i launch them through steam are they still optimised or do i have to launch them through geforce app?
why not?
the settings it think are optimized for your pc are actually just optimized for your gpu
it's not really optimized
Zen 5 is a major overhaul
what how
not connected???
Capacitors store charge, it's what theyre meant to do. And still does for quite a while after use
not more than 5 mins
on avarage not more than 10 sec
Feel free to test out that theory
i did with a led
I'm not gonna cause someone to die to digging around in the PSUs. So they hold a charge forever. That's my answer to anyone who asks 😄
The .Dat filetype is probably made by the developers of the game, not unity, so it would probably depend on the game
notepad++ should be able to
its default unity safegame file
one of i mean
I believe the default is just a plaintext json file. Developers can name it .dat , .y or .whateverthey want. Lots of developers have just picked the same one, makes sense. .sav is also widely used.
hexedit or some other text editor, if the data is encrypted, you cannot change the data
encrypted? dubt
games can often encrypt their data to prevent the data being seen by plain text, if it's scrambled then the data is encrypted
wym scrambled?
hi
anybody knows how the mini ssd's are called? the ones that are m2 but a square instead of a rectangle
M2 2230 drives
Are you looking for a steam deck upgrade or summin
nono, just a ssd for my sister's laptop. It's only compatible with that size

240 watts of charging cannot be safe
better eGPU for laptop
240w charger for phone.
it is
just depends how you manage the energy distribution so you dont let components and hardware to overheat or die
and if you're wondering
Electric cars usually if you charge them at home with a 240volt and 30Amps thats 7200 Watts
basic electronics
so if you're wondering if its safe for smaller electronics like computers or phones, yes it is if the energy being passed is distributed and regulated to not overheat
Average user: neat! Time to use it for a single 1080p 60Hz panel.
I'm not complaining, I'm glad, but if I play Battlefield 2042 on native 1080p at max settings without motion blur and without my 1660 Ti being overclocked it stutters, laggs, fps drops and fps tanks, freezes and stuff like that, which would be obvious on max at 64vs64 players, but when I overclock it +120 on core and +1000 on memory it runs smooth and doesn't stutter? of course, I know that overclocking gives you more FPS, but that surprised me, to be honest

y'all seen apple took the leap and went USB-C on the new iphone 15?
Yes, its because of EU regulations
Not only iphone 15, but also all the other hardware that didnt already usb-c will also have it from now on
except the small caveat that non pro iPhones are limited to USB type 2 charging speeds
Weak
I use Android phones so I can emulate ps2 games like a chad.
got make their fanboys buy the high end iphone 15, they need to meet their quotas

@molten coral I want to buy the airpods pro 2, but idk if Iam getting the updated usb-c version yet orthe lighting port one lol
what phone you rocking atm?
Iphone 12
fair enough then
most likely next phone I'll switch to will be an iphone anyways
but until then, Iam fine with what I got (:
@molten coral its good to justify yearly expenses on the tax returns
And still rocking the apple watch 3 so would be a nice upgrade to 9
Gold, good enough
Hopefully at least 2 years lmao
Star Wars Jedi Survivor on PC had an extremely troubled launch, and despite numerous patches the game has still been quite stuttery, especially in town areas. Patch 7 has introduced DLSS and Frame Generation as well as claiming "Performance & optimization improvements for PC". It also sounds like this may be the final major patch given the lack ...
short answer: no

Time to play some Starfield
Going for a 1440p screen next? @light wave
Rich
Runs alright for me but a bit unstable
arc gpu pain
Yessir
Driver issues, right?
Ya
Ran the Cyberpunk bench, it's
With no help from bethesda
Lmao not shocked
But I run it at 45 to 100 fps depending on area
Yessir
that's pretty good, 45 in New Atlantis and Akila city I'm guessing?
Honestly I wouldn't push it.
Akila is a pain to run
I think your sticks are good.
Fair enough tbh
But I can see why you want to adjust clock speed.
nvidia finally released their starfield driver yesterday, fixed some of the suttering but my cpu is still shitting the bed with this game
Cl16 go brr.
no idea why that place is such a cpu hog
How much better would you say it is?
Fuck
Surprisingly my 8700K isnt dying
I forgot about REBAR
In it
LOL.
like 5-15fps more
I didn't know rebar was a thing until recently.
nvidia keeps disabling rebar after every driver update, like WHY
Ive had it since 2021
Imma have to do it.
previously it's just enabled by default if your pc supports it
Like re do it if I do.
now nvidia just disables it for no reason
Also I'm unsure why my PC now takes like a good minute until it gets through POST
check bios see if fast boot is disabled?
Basically the self test that each PC does upon boot
I should yeah
I just fucked around with EXPO and called it a day
Same for me
Slowpoke POST
unoptimized mess of a game lol
Yep it feels as if its training memory
I need to install afterburner to gauge what's going on.
Well there are A LOT of enemies and explosions
Because the DRAM led stays on for like a minute
Crushing cpu
took them like what, 4 years to fix Squad's performance and it's not even good yet, I wonder how long they will get to fixing starship trooper's performance
LOL
OEM keys suck ass
@light wave activate Ur windows
Sure, give me a key.
Activated it yet?
Can't you find a key online?
Activate my windows then owo
Dude has better hardware than me and has an unactivated product.

Wrong emote.

spent all his paycheck on the hardware

Hey. Gotta respect the grind.
I paid 200$ for windows 10 years back, best investment
Lmao
never have to buy another dodgy windows key again
Like I swear.
That's what I'll do tbh
Just not a goddamn OEM key
Oem?
Basically a key that gets bound to your motherboard
Change it, and RIP
gonna wait for CL24 9600 DDR5
But I wonder if I could.
DDR4 still good enough
it'll work unfortunately
you can keep swapping pc or laptop with the same key, every time I switch to a new laptop I just log into my microsoft account and bam activated
do you think 7800X3D would get bottlenecked if you could use it with DDR4
Signout.
Funnily enough I got 64 gigs of DDR5 RAM, for just 50$ more than I paid for my DDR4 kit
Ddr5 is becoming super accessible.
A: yes they are, but they are exceedingly rare, you will almost never find them in the wild except for curated suppliers
with the recent AGESA update memory training became longer as it supports faster clocks, it's normal, you'll just need to deal with it
Also plats are useless if you don't want to heavily tinker, right?
Huh fair
Loving the experience so far
Especially not having to pray on every boot that my GPU doesn't go up in flames
functionally yes, the main reason is to do with required voltage for clocks, aka, it requires less voltage for the same clocks, so it can boost higher, it's more or less useless unless you're wanting to delve into that realm, for whatever reason
5GHz is fine enough for me
A tiny bit more power efficient!
can be used on more than one board, the OEM keys have a finite amount of times they are able to be used for activation by Microsoft's server, it's small, around 3 or 4 times depending on the key
there's a option to de-link your registration within windows so you can use it elsewhere
big smart
Bruh ddr4 is outdated.
Idc if u get bdie and do 4400 cl17 flat or smth. U get smoked by M and A die
Esp mordern aaa games going full bandwidth meme like starfield
My 8700K deals with starfield alright
Better than starship troopers that step on it when there are hordes
same, does the job besides the bit city area
else does pretty much 55-60fps its playable
he's right, DDR4 is inferior to even the most basic DDR5 kits
it's just down to hardware limitations, you shouldn't be buying DDR4 nowadays unless you absolutely need it, it's just a sunk cost waste of money
for some reason my windows had set my cpu to 6 cores 12 in the system boot options when its a 12core 24
very weird
i unticked the core count option and now it shows as 12 core 24 as it should
double the speed for free
6c12t is just perfection like my 8700K /s
Stonks
new atlantis destroys my frames lul
Yeah it's clear they had a lot of issues optimizing new Atlantis. Shame it's the first impression of the game
that cowboy town u go to with sam is even heavier on the cpu than atlantis
yeah it's a shithole
both literally and figuratively
even your companion commented about it
I think Sarah said something like the Freestar Collective gained freedom 200 years ago but all they can come up with is this dogshit city

ye like the wild west over there
i want some evil companions
you can get one if you side with the pirates
i think the adoring fan and vasco dont judge u no matter what you do
or at least companions with some balls
if i steal something i dont wanna get berated for it
just tell me "nice, sell that shit"
ye bring the robot
mostly, companions are just in the way tho
or they stop running
just stand there and look at me as im running towards the objective
i gave sarah a minigun and some frags and she wipe out our enemies quite nicely
u only need to give them 1 ammo and they can shoot forever
Hello
I changed hobby and don't have much time chasing dragon or game anymore.
💀
But I do still help customers with their pc.
I know what's up and what's really reliable but no point to say it here lol
you just deal with PCs? what about networks?
might try to put 4090 in a 11L case
wanna make the most compact system a 4090 can endure
LOL
Damn
Saw someone put a 4090 in the phanktek evolv shift before
apex legends looks better than starfield so idk what the hype is about
Starfield has a couple places that look really good, but mostly it's just okay
Hehe can't really compare a multi-player shooter with a story and exploration based game
ye but that map is so small actually so small you cant even get a vehicle or else you drive into a invisible wall after 5 minutes
Is it even an entire planet its really an entire galaxy

Apex is really just a copy of call of duty anyway

Hold ma beer
No Man's Sky's galactic sandbox of 18 Quintillion planets tallying up to 31,7000,000,000,000,000,000,000 km2
One planet? Rookie numbers...
ok..?
The map is actually infinite btw
Bypassing the barrier loads extra tiles
With settlements and all fully working
He's not wrong no mans sky does have more variety although Starfield is bigger
and starfield isn't no man's sky
True but it's extremely similar
Haha that's cap
have you played starfield?
if you haven't played it then you can't say if it's similar or not
they're very different games
no, you can't lol, because one is a RPG story based game and the other is an actual space exploration game
It really isn't used as an rpg story it's used more as side quests and exploration
So extremely similar uses
what? have you even seen starfield whatsoever? the entire game is revolved around the story
Maybe but it is easy to avoid the main story completely
Brother
you start the game, in the main story
Of course you start with it
you understand that correct?
Yes
and you understand the only way to finish the game is to go on the main story?
Yes of course but many people don't immediately go to the main story after doing the first part they go on side quests and explore
The main quest is usually the last priority
you don't have a choice in the matter? side quests do not open until you have reached new Atlantis, and that is done after in the first chapter
Like I said that's the introduction which is unavoidable
Okay bro don't be smart you know what I mean
The first chapter is the opening to the main quest
I do not but that's not the point
that's literally the entire point, there is no "opening to the main quest '
you clearly don't understand the game, but you feel you can say it's similar to no man's sky
you understand this discrepancy correct?
Haha your pretty funny man. I was saying it is a very similar game exploration wise
it's not
It is
You go to planets and travel through the universe and find abandoned ships
That's pretty much the exploration
no man's sky has procedurally generated planets for every single system in the game, starfield, the majority, are hand crafted, they are not procedurally generated outwith the usual systems
but again
you don't know the game, but keep claiming that it's similar
they are nowhere near
Yet again I'm claiming it's similar exploration wise
you don't find abandoned ships in starfield, that has nothing to do with the exploration
what are you talking about?
It doesn't matter if it's "hand crafted" it's still exploring planets and the galaxy correct
Yes that's what I'm trying to explain is similar
why do you think procedurally generated is used for an exploration game?
no.. so the player has a new experience every single time.. when they play the game.. which is why it's in Minecraft, Terraria, no man's sky
and why it's not, in starfield
Why wouldn't you want a new experience?
because it is a, story game
it is not a, exploration game
RPG story, fallout, not, no man's sky
Okay I'm not arguing with you there I do believe it's a story game. I am arguing the exploration system is similar to nms
there is no planet generation, we just established this
Dude there is no way Starfield is all hand crafted I'm sorry
why do you think it took 8 years to develop?
and has 3 million words of dialogue and had a budget of $200m?
it didn't just come from nowhere
Dude they did not spend all the time hand crafting planets
No shit I know bethesda
But I also do know Bethesda and they would not handcraft every planet
then I would have expected, given you said you had massive expertise after watching 6 videos, to have recognised that all the planets, have static names
and that they do not change
or the systems
yes, one galaxy, with different systems
That's what I'm understanding here
You mean one galaxy with different solar systems?
So there are not many planets in this game than?
yes one galaxy I'm losing neurons from this initial topic
Alright I'm just tryin to learn about that game and fix my understanding at this point
Because obviously I don't know what i thought I did
all the planets, systems have static names, all of the POIs in the game are all static, they do not change
I see
the only "generated" part that's in the game is to do with loot attributes you can acquire for weapons or other loot, that's all
So even if you repeat the game it will be the same planets and systems every time
yes
But it does have lots of side quests correct? And they never change as well?
hi, I want to create a dedicated community server in BF5, can u point me in the right direction?
yes there are lots of side quests and those are also all static too
they don't change, outwith your character choices
And the classes you choose determine the quests you receive?
short answer yes, long answer no
there are some quests that are locked behind perks in the game or certain factions, and you can only get those in the case of perks per character, but factions are per game run
And the factions are static as well?
And perks determine the quests you receive too or no?
For like certain types of missions?
they determine some rewards and missions you can "access" without going into exact spoilers, those are more superfluous since you can create multiple characters with different perks
they're much more important to other systems in the game than the mission access specifically but yes they do tie in
Ah okay thanks for the info
sure thing
Hey champ, one question for ya
yeah?
Would you say there's any chance of a native ATX 3.0 12vhpwr to 12vhpwr cable to melt?
Asking just to be sure
no there isnt
Even using a cablemod cable?
the adapter fails due to the extreme heat tolerances that are in check because it's not designed to handle it on the non ATX 3 standard
but if you're using a ATX 3 12vhpwr cable only it'll be fine, avoid cablemod just because of reputation damage reasons
Yeah sadly I have the cable again
Still* not again
Should I get a Corsair one just to be safe?
Also just had a weird BIOS corruption this morning
I was on the latest ASUS bios, to avoid my CPU blasting off
sure Corsair one is fine
System would show up QCode 15, which is for memory training
But am I at risk by sticking with the current CableMod one?
Also yeah, as I was saying
The system wouldn't POST, until I flashbacked to the previous bios
so not explicitly, the issue has is and always been the adapter, but cablemod have had a bit too many smoke filled pc cases in the last year that I can't say it's guaranteed
it's probably fine
but cablemod have had massive reputational damage so
Fair enough, I'll get a Corsair one next month
Just to be safe
Now I just hope my BIOS no longer shits itself
the recent AGESAs have been quite volatile in terms of memory training stability, if it works on the old one just avoid it for now
should be more stable in a few weeks or months
Yeah memory training is faster on this BIOS too
20 seconds instead of about 1-2 minutes
that is something that will go away as it changed endemically to increase memory performance, so enjoy it for now
Also is there still a problem with Ryzen chips handling 4 DIMMs?
Was tempted to just get another 64 gig kit
for DDR5 yes, it's not stable at high memory clocks
I assume 6000 is too much
you can have it work but anything outside 6000 wont
6000 is guaranteed, outwith that not so
if it doesn't boot worst case just reduce the clock speed I suppose, nothing inherently unstable with 4 DIMMs
Am I gimping performance significantly by having a kit at 6000?
Trying to figure out if I chose my parts decently
no you're not
XMP scaling falls off past cl30/6000 on ryzen as the IF downclocks from 1:1 and decouples, you're not missing out on anything
Yeah fair, if it's not broken, I shouldn't meddle with it
get the other kit put it in and don't think about it, thinking about it leads you into extremely murky territory
stability is crucial with memory than performance
make sure the other kit is identical in product terms, but yes it'll work
Yeah I was planning on getting an identical G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo kit
be very specific, in that for your kit make sure it has the exact same model name as your current one
you'll see it printed on the DIMM
as good enough as you can get to do that
Corsair do dodgy shenanigans with their memory which I'm not going to get into cause I'm tired but yeah not surprising
Don't think I ever heard bad stuff regarding G.Skill's kits
So I just filtered out everything besides those
every manufacturer does it in some form even g skill, Corsair are just more extreme
if I start on this it's going to be 15 minutes and 3 paragraphs long and I don't have the energy
Btw, is 78-79C a good temp for a stress test?
Not sure what the temps should be on this CPU
Cool cool, thanks Deco, and sorry for nagging you about stuff lmao
Just trying to learn new stuff
sure thing
4x32 6000CL32?
I'm not sure your memory controller can handle that
Also for ddr5 I personally would avoid gskill, not corsair.
They don't put thermal pads on the pmic.
But prob won't matter at stock
my Gskill Ripjaws DDR4 kits were all pretty unstable on Ryzen
then I got TeamGroup and no problems since

DDR4 corsair isn't good.
Esp low tier vengeance.
But ddr5 corsair is fine. Abit overpriced as usual but they got the whole ecosystem n stuff
Also u sure 4x32 6000 cl32 is gonna work?
That's like even hard or not possible on Z790 and 13th gen with way better memory trace and mem controller.
yeah 4x2R DDR5-3600 is the gurantee
Ain't no way u are even posting with 4x32 at 6000CL32 @light wave
I'd be a bit dissapointed if a 7950x3d couldn't handle that, I can experiment and see how it goes
It won't. Not even z790+13th gen can do that.
You can see the spec sheet provided by amd.
Max Memory Speed
2x1R
DDR5-5200
2x2R
DDR5-5200
4x1R
DDR5-3600
4x2R
DDR5-3600
Now I know this is a suggestion as I've seen zen4 rarely do 2X32 6000 before and 2X16 6400 (earlier bios that can tweak fabric voltage) but 4X32 is 😅
I'll give it a shot, I guess the fact that I got a dual rank kit might improve my odds
All 32gb sticks are dual rank tho.
What I'm more worried about is my core voltage
Asus claimed to cap it at 1.3V
Yet I see 1.32-1.33
Esp with a load it will vdroop way lower
Same AIO, this chip runs way better and cooler.
Yeah it drops to 0.870 or so
5800X doesn't even draw much power haha. It's just 7950X3D is very very efficient
Cause lower clock speed compared to 7950X
Less voltage and less power draw
Well tbh I'm happy with it
Rips apart everything I throw at it
U better be. Can't go up from there
Just curious to see what the improvement is in Revit
Rendering boutta go crazy
What would an emulator benefit more from the processor? Cores or clock speed?
it can with the newer AGESA, memory support on the IF is substantially more stable than at launch
those max memory clocks are for official support only with compatibility, it isn't in regards to what memory will run
rule of thumb is it depends on the emulator, but IPC is more critical than those both as emulators seldom are multi threaded
the answer "technically" is clock speed, but it's not going to make any difference in the end result unless you are say 1GHz over normal
if the emulator is using GR libraries then cache can factor in, e.g. games, but it's rare

Wtf. the fan is running full tilt in the power supply that is not connected to power
must be draining power from the USB connection as it is a digital power supply
hmm, that isn't it
I thought the cables alongside your PSU made it look like a spider
unplugging the power supply won't fully drain the power
dude, you cut the poor thing wide open
like a medieval surgeon
there is excess electricity stored on the board and fans consume next to nothing for wattage, it will last a while
That makes sense. It is also currently keeping 3 sata ssds and a sata HDD running 😄
Damn high-end PSU having too much excess power
it just takes a while for onboard electrical current to dissipate entirely from its source
you can ground it and it'll disappear entirely but otherwise that's why
GUESS I'LL JUST SIT HERE IN THE NOISE AND TROUBLESHOOT THEN
That's exactly what I feel like
Excuse my phrasing but the first thing I thought seeing your computer like that was as if a rib cage was opened.
1 a while, 2 a while, 3 a while
I know, I saw 2x16 6400 and 2x32 6000 but not 4x32 yet irl. Hey but we got a test subject here
guinea pig
Hours too? Or is my PSU made of magic
hours
yeah i read something about a guy who wanted to take out the fan from the PSU and use it somewhere else thinking it was safe but died while doing so
so i wouldnt dig into one no matter what
Unless you wear electrical gloves
or if you want to go to the otherside...
i contacted noctua about not having the nh-d15 mounting kit to my am4 system with proof of purchase and a picture of the cooler and theyre sending me a am4 mounting kit for free. gucci service
even tho the cooler was bought 3 years ago
Fan been running 6 hours now without being connected to power.
Magic
don't think my phone takes pci-e power cable

Japanese electrolytic capacitors hurting my ears
They should pay you
This is the best fucking ad for a PSU I've seen.
"It just works"
@pale quartz should I disable memory training on every boot in bios?
no
Well shit
maybe, if I actually mentioned the actual psu
It's still going btw. into its 10 hour or something like that
How's that 4X32?
Ain’t here yet
days?
Damn where airflow
and where cursed cat in pc
also maybe, warranty the psu
Since if the fan is running all the time, something is wrong with it
It's the fan inside the PSU. It only runs when the PSU is utilized over a certain %age which is never is so it usually never ran. The PSU has a few things connected to it like a fanhub, but when it is not connected to the motherboard I guess it just runs the fan at 100% all the time to be safe. So working like intended, just has a lot of electricity inside it to run the fan for so long.
Ah ok
Is two 4TB SSDs in a high end laptop a bad idea? I’m assuming it is because there’s already too much heat from a higher end GPU & CPU combination, but just wanted some input.
No
Heat wise, it should be a bit more but not really
It's not enough to cause any more heat then there already is
yeah because the one i was looking at only had a heatsink for the 1 and 2 TB models, but not the 4TB model, so i'm assuming the heat issue might not be relevant with the 4 TB model... which seemed weird to me. but thanks @digital hill
Not really, get a small heatsink though
they make heatsinks for laptops @digital hill ?
I don't think so but it should work though
cool, thanks!
you will need to be careful here, there is no guarantee that both SSD's use chipset bandwidth, and if they dont this will cause your integrated GPU to have half its bandwidth
additionally controllers on laptops are only designed to handle one type of SSD for power draw reasons, its possible that your battery life will become heavily degraded
yeah i personally don't think i'm going to go with it, thanks for the input @pale quartz

i can get away with 1tb just fine still..
I just have 1 tera and it's fucking shit.
Agreed, I want to get a file server going on
Meanwhile me with 6TB worth of SSD's/NVME
I want to upgrade my PC, because right now I have an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 non-x with stock cooler, Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, DDR4 2x8 16GB 3200Mhz RAM, ASRock AB350 Pro4 mobo, a Green Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD, 1 exhaust fan and Corsair VS650 650W PSU. To what should I upgrade my PC to? Intel or AMD CPU, and Nvidia or AMD GPU?
funny magic words ^-^
AMD CPU and GPU.
How far are you willing to push it?
well um the basic stuff 🥲 7600x and rx 7600 xt
could you recommend me something higher-end than that, please?
Cause I haven't seen reviews in quite a while and I don't know what to get exactly
a cookie
get the rx 7800xt if you can
5800X 3D
Can that work on his mobo?
Idk well I'm washed so

obviously not, I'll change the entire PC
isn't Nvidia 40 series good now?
nope
I mean in terms of performance/fps
get a better cpu, probably will have to swap out the motherboard too
I know
the mid-range 40x cards are really shit
It does.
damnnnn wtff? that trash ugly ahh mobo supports 5800x3d?
4060, 4070 aren't as good as the rx7700 and 7800xt for what they are worth
can't believe it, that AMD's GPU's are better than Nvidia
theyre better price wise
I'm not talking about prices, I don't mind prices, cause I can't endure this PC that I have rn and I want a way better PC
just get a mid-range amd card, wait for their frame gen tech next year

With GPU prices coming down for some GPUs, going up for others, and the recent launch of the RX 7700XT and RX 7800XT shaking up pricing, it can be a confusing GPU market. You should not look based on MSRP, ...
7800xt is on average 20-40% stronger than the 4070, while being cheaper
If u don't care about prices then Nvidia walk over amd gpu if u have a decent cpu
If u care about prices then Nvidia value is sht
well I'm not rich, anyways
Simple as that
if you are into shiny ray traced graphics, get nvidia
Better power efficiency, better reliability (40 series only), better encoder, better everything except it runs abit slower if your cpu is slow.
I'll just get an i7-13700k and a 4080 with ddr5 ram
Still looks better than starfield
I'm not, but I'll save money
The Geforce Now pc

If you clean this up, you get a gaming laptop for under $300 even if you buy the charger which is around $30 on amazon

Definitely not broken
I wonder will that laptop from goodwill that definitely looks like it went through a desert, beat that $300 pc
Maybe
Anything from goodwill is 100 percent reliable
True, usually not reliable
Ah
But I got a usb-c dock from goodwill, I believe I paid $40
It was a lenovo usb-c dock with dp

which I paid only $14 for one
7800x3d with a 7900xtx.
I'm sorry for the late response I went to sleep.
The reason why I suggested that is because I wasn't entirely sure about your budget.
The 40 series cards cost more than what AMD offers in terms of power.
Only reason why you go for Nvidia is for better RTX cores and better software compatibility*.
Software compatability doesn't matter much outside of workstations.
okay, thank you and it's okay

Still better than switch
that's a given lmao

switch's weaker than my phone which is 150$
No worries dude.
have you seen the games that thing runs?
actually pretty insane how far mobile cpu's have gotten
@pale quartz did you expect the PSU fan to run for 4 days? 😄
they consume about 2-4 watts of power, so yeah, its possible
It has become kind of a contest. What happens first, I become deaf or does the fan go out.
its concerning how many people default to meme product purchases because the general lack of knowledge
meme purchases¿
like samsung 980 pro ssd, corsair rgb aio, asus rog strix mb, etc
those are more meme than similar products?
but the 980 pro is good, isn't it
its good, but for just gaming you can save like 40% and get something else and it would be impossible to notice the performance differences
ah yeah
what do you mean by similar products?
even a sata ssd is enough for 99% of the games
idk how often i see a 980 pro nvme drive suggested though
and its like... 98% of people wouldnt even be able to tell the difference between that an a crucial p3
(not recommending getting a p3)
I have a 980, for most games it loads like half a second to a second faster than my current sata ssd
got it for cheap tho so can't complain
yea of course if prices are comparable get something better
my favorite is when people have mid tier specs, but still got rgb components
eliminate all rgb and you can easily upgrade your gpu
rgb is a curse
rgb is made in so huge numbers now that non-rgb products are often not cheaper
if i see a custom build with rgb i just hope they have something like a 7800x3d and a 4080, anything less and they could have upgraded if they ignored rgb
rbg is so fucking ugly, but now you have to pay more for "stealth" builds
ive not personally seen this, i check fairly often too
without checking in about 2 weeks id put money on the arctic p12 5pack beating any decent rgb fan, let alone an rgb fan that compares in performance
I remember it last when I looked for DDR5 memory. Specs decided the price, RGB or not didn't really affect it.
ehh just looking right now for ddr5, 2x8, 5200mhz ram, the cheapest rgb kit i see is 30 dollars more (or 60% more) than the non rgb counterpart
and the non rgb version has better timing
I live in a small country. Perhaps the limited quantity needed of non-rgb products affects the prices differently.
maybe, in usa rgb usually costs a bit more
which individually, sure, who cares about an extra 30 dollars for a 1k build
but when each component has an upcharge for rgb it adds up, which that difference could have just been a straight up gpu upgrade
think of it as a lamp - instead of a a GPU update they bought a sculpture lamp. Makes it much more palpable.
Honestly I didn't even mean to go for rgb but since my gpu came with it thought why not for the ram.
if my gpu had an rgbless version for 30 bucks cheaper, i would have bought that
If I were to consciously go for an rgb gpu I'd go for glowy glowy fans.
But the basic ass red and blue ones are cool enough.
if you would have to choose between the samsung odyseey g5 1000r curved 1440p which size would you pick at the almost same price: 27 or 32 inch
bigger
@pale quartz Do you know how to reset bluetooth connections on a device?
as in clear all associated paired devices?
Yeah.
it depends on the device, most have a factory initialisation option but you'll need to read the manual for the device, if this is the driver on Windows, you can just go to device manager and reset or uninstall the driver and reboot
Appreciated.
With the next xbox apparently going all digital hopefully they sell an external disc drive or some dumb shit.
It definitely looks like a tube
old mac trashcan design
they copied apple
I was gonna say the full name earlier but I thought about it
@pale quartz hey, i noticed on your comment you mentioned about the chipset bandwidth potentially limiting the integrated GPU. If the laptop in question has a dedicated GPU, will 2x 4TB SSDs limit that as well? Or just integrated?
iGPUs if you mean, an APU, do not link to the PCIe lane through the chipset as they are embedded, to the answer so the second question, if it has a dGPU then yes it most likely will, they are linked over the PCIe lane and use links directly to the chipset, it is extremely uncommon for chipsets that support both direct x4 links for SSDs, so the second SSD has to bifurcate other lanes which is taken from the primary one (the discrete GPU), hope that answers your question
thank you! it did. @pale quartz
np
for dlink routers, do they have a certain number of failed login attempts before they "lock you out"?
i mean for the interface thingy when i go to 192.168.... etc
i mean if someone fails on the password etc
routers have certain software protections to stop brute force attacks from gaining entry, this is one of them, it's not built into all routers for d-link, you'd have to check the model of yours specifically
ah, ok thanks

Like I have to upgrade to am5, need new mobo, new ram and my rtx 2080 and r7 3800x also gets old

its 2 generations old, and soon to be 3, isnt modern
2080 is basically 3060 but less VRAM
2080 is basically a used budget GPU these days
no AV1 decode either

no purpose in terms of buying nowadays
7800XT is supreme
7800xt so good
7700XT should be $399
7700xt being 50$ cheaper is just so funny
like, just save 50 bucks more and get a much better card
lmao
Good stuff
