HAHA
I'm looking at 8-pin version of RTX 4070 for my ITX case but still want waterblocked 4090
just don't know if any SFX PSU can handle 4090 for long term stability
prob depends on application resolution etc
honestly I think u can get away with a 4080
Mazda pretends like he isn't expanding my messages. Which is why he asked that.
Who lives rent free now
lmao
GN drew 666.6w but thats furmark on 4090
Hi Mazda ๐
I know you read every last one of my messages regardless of blocking me.
๐
demonic card
I know!
wonder if any game comes close to furmark in raster intensity
tbf, if you have only a few people blocked, or even one, in a relatively dead chat, its pretty obvious who the blocked messages are from
no game comes close
True.
RTX etc maybe
its why i dont block people, i know who the messages are from
But 100% guaranteed he also expands those messages to read them. They're never truly blocked in Discord.
Yeah, also that.
theres a work around to fully delete blocked messages too, i wish that was an official option
i hate seeing the little "2 blocked message" tab in chat
It's annoying. I do the same thing as you.
just ignore them lol
Mazda gives himself away everytime though. Because it's generally ironic that he only ever types something when I do.
Which means I know he's reading every last "Blocked Message" by expanding it.
๐
theres only like.. 1 person i would even consider blocking on discord, and at this point i like giving them shit for their idiotic takes
same
corsair sf750?

I see it a lot in itx builds with 3090s and keep in mind ampere has higher transient spikes than ada
I wouldn't go any lower than an 850 watt power supply for a 4090. Just factoring in under load, and of course depending on what CPU and any possible overclocking
But a 4090 shouldn't really draw more than 450 watts
And that's pretty much pushing it.
it's more like 350w on average
True.
I think 450 is probably just on initial power on
If that.
Otherwise yeah you're right. Under gaming loads, 350 sounds right
I mean I do hear about people doing crazy overclocks and ramping up voltages. But to me that's basically 100% pointless as there isn't a CPU in existence currently that doesn't already bottleneck a stock 4090 to some extent
Demanding RT is what mainly takes it over 450 watt https://tpucdn.com/review/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4090-founders-edition/images/power_plus_rt.png
scored over 42k in cinebench nice
pretty low bin 13900ks tho
but I got it for 500 so its a dub.
5.8p/4.6e/5.0 ring
e core is low so thats why the guy sold it to me
I see now
my current favorite is TLOU on pc
recommended specs are accurate, and people are still mad
speaking of unoptimized game
I recently purchased Death Stranding Director's Cut from humble bundle, and noticed that I couldn't reach the 144hz fps cap I set on the game, even though on the non-Director's Cut I can reach the fps cap with no issue.
Do you have any idea why this is the case? or just the DC version isn't as optimized as the non-DC?
and sadly, regardless of whatever setting I chose, even on the lowest setting, I'll still get around the same fps
as when I set the graphic to max setting
even tried turning DLSS on and off, and the performance is about the same, im not sure why
I only have non DC version as I played on gamepass
Ran well on intel gpu though it doesnt have XeSS like DC does
yeah I'm not sure why
i even double checked to make sure I wasn't crazy. I played the nonDC version on gamepass and EGS that I got for free a while back, both have the same performance (capped 144hz at max graphic settings) while the DC version only gets me around 110fps-139fps, with sometimes reaching the 144fps cap
ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
it is what it is
but also wait for shaders, and done use med textures, they look like low textures
its a bit goofy, but specs were accurate
Stinky
Sporting adaptive streaming up to 1080p and 60FPS, the new device will require constant connectivity to the internet.
....and DOA.
i know people who saves up every dime to go out traveling at every chance they get and would never spend anything on better hardware
I offered my 2080ti timespy and speedway record build to him for 700 USD. He said nah
I also had a 9700k 2080ti build I got for 600 and he passed on that too.
Now it's 2023 I don't have the time and energy to build so good luck to him ๐
Man really passed up the best deal available
game streaming device afaik

Holy shit the power consumption of the 7800x3d.

Anyone in this server interested in VR tech?
But why
Though, not metaverse stuff.
Do you like walking around as a anime girl
I like walking around as an anime guy (The male one, btw), but I enjoy VR FPS games the most.
I don't have money for all of the other fancy VR tech, like Quest Pro for eye/face tracking, a VR treadmill, full-body tracking set, etc.
Maybe one day...
Yes. Oculus/Meta Quest 2 with the included controllers.
I'm waiting for the rumored Quest 3 to come out where it's likely to be a bit more expensive than Quest 2 at its current price, but also plan to get Touch Pro controllers if it's compatible with the new headset.
Mostly Bonelab, VRChat, and Beat Saber.
I also play Among Us VR as well (As in, the official VR version of Among Us).
And also a good workout if you ask me.
But movement jn VR seems clunky
I saw gameplay of skyrim VR
Or maybe I'm misremembering
Doesn't the game have different locomotion options like continuous (Where you use your joystick to move around like how most games do) and teleportation like the most other VR games have?
Yeah.
Felt like it was immersive breaking
But on the positive side, it does help with comfort.
Though, I do prefer continuous locomotion in VR.
For some people, continuous locomotion can make people motion sick, which is a common & unavoidable problem with VR.
Though, controllers are still useful for VR since you can interact with objects like weapons, props, and even making gestures for social interactions.
Oh like that, ugh I already get a weird feeling just thinking about motion sickness
I played this Tetris game with amazing graphics, it has a vr version of it
I think that would be as cool as beat saber
I've tried an actual roller coaster while wearing VR
Since they had a movie thing set up during the ride in vr
Not even that got me motion sick lel
Nice!
You must have some good VR legs.
And VR legs mean you have some resistance to VR motion sickness.
Yeah
I tried VR once in a store but they had like a space environment set up
It really fucked with me, almost fell
I didn't have this problem since trying out Oculus Go + Rift at Best Buy back in 2018, which is what got me into VR.
It was just the fact that it felt more realistic than I expected. The first thing I did when I put on was look down and it was just space
Hahaha thats my only experience with VR so far
And I know this is a big stretch, but just imagine if BF2042 had optional VR support (If you have a powerful gaming PC, of course, since PC VR requires powerful specs) and you're using wingsuits as Sundance?
Would be cool
Thats actually so cool, flying the jet or in the helicopter
But jesus christ your pc must be ungodly
I don't have a really powerful gaming PC like the ones with the RTX 4090, but I have a mid-range PC that's capable of VR.
GPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600x
CPU: AMD Radeon RX 5500
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB 3200Mhz
Oh yeah.
My ryzen 5 3600 couldnt handle bf2042
Had insane stuttering
Thus my hatred for dice has started
I mean, more games on PC are getting more unoptimized as new computer specs come by.
Cough The Last Of Us Part 1 Cough
pandemic really messed with game development
I have a 3070 and cant run games properly like last of us or hogwarts legacy without stutters
True.
Like stuttering is one of the things I really cant tolerate when gaming
But even turning down the graphic settings doesn't work out most of the time, right?
Yeah I tried low, medium, high
The stutters just stay the same
Apparently hogwarts legacy on 1080p uses more than 8gb vram ๐ฎโ๐จ
And I'm on 1440p
If I'm being really honest, and I know people on the internet keep saying 1440p is amazing and your eyes will for ever be gratefull
I barely notice a difference, and after a while your eyes get used to 144hz and it feels normal so whats the point of upgrading
I just want OLED monitors
How do you run VR on that?
Same, but I want more refresh rate for PC gaming.
Well, when I'm using Oculus Link, I turn the resolution all the way down on both the Oculus Rift app & SteamVR since I prioritize VR performance for my gaming PC
I would think that resolution matters more in VR no?
Considering yknow its VR but if your gpu cant handle yeah I would do the same
Smooth experience is just the best
Right.
In vr or normal ?
were you thinking about buying the gpu or the game?
After I upgraded my cpu, I don't really have problems anymore
It runs good for my HP mid-range gaming PC that I bought at Walmart.
Some stutterings occur sometimes, but the game still runs fine for me.
I will buy a pc in the next few weeks
oh nice man
what specs are you buying
Idk if I would recommend a rtx 3070 though
its still pretty expensive I tihkn
Maybe a 6700xt or 3060ti
hmm yeah, I think I would go for 6700xt just for that vram
out of nowhere games are popping up that eat all of your vram
3070 is a way to much for me atm
I Play in full hd and will upgrade to 1440p end of the year
I don't know if 1440p is really worth it
but just see how you like it, you can always send back the monitor if you buy it online
Yea

I'm actually very excited that Intel decided to enter the game
hopefully they won't abandon their efforts
hey, it has dlss
And also FidelityFX Super Resolution not just for Radeon GPUs, but also Nvidia GPUs that serves as an alternative option for DLSS.
AMD is big on opensource
Which I like
Nvidia just does whatever they can to attract more customers which I understand

RX 6600 is 10-15% faster than GTX 1080
RTX 3050 is 25-30% slower than 1080

he f ed up๐
the naming can be really confusing, people look and see that its a rtx 3000 card and think it must be better
it's not a big stretch, it will simply never happen
adding openXR to battlefield makes no sense other than that to make compatibility available to a whole 0.5% of users
What about a standalone Battlefield game specifically for VR?
Correction: I mostly go around in VRChat as a Beat Saber multiplayer avatar using the replica models someone gave me.
lmao...

Oh dang my destiny 2 fps went from 130 at the tower to 200
10850k 4000cl15 39ns vs 13900ks 7200cl33 stock xmp
I didn't improve much in 2042 cause I am still gpu bottlenecked LOL
Gonna hustle more table tennis for that 4090 in fall or summer
My friend scored a 7800X 3D from bestbuy
But his mobo broke. ๐
My friend needs to learn how to flash a bios
if the 7800X3D had launched together with the 7950X3D/7900X3D almost 2 months ago, it would have probably been out of stock for a month and the higher tier models would be too abundant and would become same value/cheaper than the 7800X3D
wasnt that a shitty move from amd
7800x3d from what i heard is the best choice while the more expensive ones are meh
Scummy thing to do to sell a better processor much later and upsell your first set.
new nvidia hotfix drivers are supposed to stop crashes in the last of us
quite old news but i just found out about it myself
The hotfix addresses the following issues:
[The Last of Us Part 1] Game may randomly crash during gameplay on GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs [4031676]
Assassinโs Creed Origins may have stability issues when using 531.18. [4008770]
[Resident Evil 4 Remake] Corruption in the game when FXAA enabled [4051903]
hm, i always thought of geforce experience as bloatware but it might be nice to just get notified of the latest drivers
now i have to keep visiting the nvidia forums to look for hotfixes
geforce experience for me isnt bloatware simply because it has 1 job and its to update drivers
just ignore everything else lol
yea i wouldnt
just use msi after burner or perosonally i use x1 from evga since im using their card
honestly is overclocking even worth it for nvidea cards since dont they already overclock to the temp limit
i guess its usefull for undervolting
Experience only gives you like a 2% overclock tho so it doesn't even matter
i heard the only way to really overclock the 3000 series is to do some soldering as its so limited
i think some aib boards have built in switches on the board that does that
like kingpin cards
I rarely used Experience back when I used nvidia
At least shadowplay was alright part of it
i use it a lot because game ready drivers can improve a games performance by quite a bit
checking the fourms for an update is a pain lol
the nvidia drivers search engine doesnt list the hotfixes for whatever reason, maybe they want ppl to visit the forums
i usually update whenever a game i play was listed specifically in the game ready drivers
I keep bleeding edge regardless
im on the dev channel windows 11 on my laptop, it hurts being on the bleeding edge'
yesterday my latop green screen while taking notes mid lecture
lol
not blue screen
Rip
green screen lol
Yeah ik, insider is like that
i think i opted out of the dev channel for since last year
still in dev channel
im stuck
the only way out is probably fresh windows 11 install lol
but im too lazy
bought windows 10/11 with my university email so now my windows is still "managed" by my uni, can't get into insider
oof
lol
i wouldnt
the admins of ur UNI can remotely wipe ur pc
btw
it happend in my university not long ago
someone got their laptop wiped lol
u know the crazy part
it has been 9 years but I don't know how to switch to a personal email
my dad once gave me a bulk windows licence from the company he worked at, i kept using it until windows said that certain updates are controlled by my company . so i got my own
i remeber i tried signing into my school outlook account on my phone and there is an option for me to sign it into android itself and it state by signing in, i would allow administrators to remotely wipe even my phone lol
dont ur school email get revoked after graduating?
nope, it became an alumnus email
i mean i dont know how much insight his company had on my computer lol
idk if they can access your personal data, but on my work laptop, IT can read my Teams messages
they need to ask for consent first, but technically they can just read everything
ye screw that
yea if u have an account that is under their domain they have complete control
its mostly to stop leaks
like if ur work laptop gets leaked
they can remotely wipe it
ive had my own licence for quite some time now tho
its for good reason remeber lastpass, there was a massive passwork leak because an engineer got their house burgled and they stole his laptop
any way for me to transfer my windows license from my school email to my personal one?
honestly i would just buy one
their dirt cheap
its like 14 bucks i think
plus i think windows now ties the keys to the motherboard
so if u switch mobo u gonna need a new key anyways
I have only ever bought windows licenses directly from microsoft, too scared to deal with 3rd parties
he also gave me acess to tons of thier adobe and other products, but maybe i shouldnt talk about this
you can bring over your license to a new pc, just need to disconnect it from your old pc
i dont even have to pay
i have a key that i can use in as many pcs i want
someone gave it to me lol
i only use it for testing new pcs
on final deployment i just buy one of those cheap windows keys
from third party
they don't tie it to the motherboard, it's tied to your Microsoft account
the only thing that's tied to a board is your TPM backup key from your account so you don't make your drive unbootable from switching out hardware
well i dont know bc i use "technically illegal keys" from cheap 3d party websites that are non transferable lol
they're not illegal
they're OEM retail keys
they're given to corporations for mass activations then get resold by some insider employee trying to flip a buck, it'll work as long as the key is still in use at that organisation
if it doesn't then your activation will deactivate
oof
isnt it TOS to sell them though
yes, but TOS =/= illegality
i just took a license from an old laptop i dont use anymore and put it on my desktop
now i only got windows home tho and not pro like the one i had from my dads company key
i dont use any of the pro encryption and remote features tho
wouldnt worst thing be to pirate a copy which probably have a rootkit or whatever in it tho
or use a cracked antivirus which probably defeat the purpose of it and give people direct access to the stuff ure trying to protect
lmao

Jim Keller hints at a 30% performance increase for Zen5 Jim Keller, former chip architect at AMD and Intel, has since moved to other projects and companies. Just got the steelseries ttk looks and feels good so far
What happened

I wish I know
way better choice than any corsair keyboard
hey i actually want a corsair k100, but i bought another keyboard not too long ago so its kind of a waste
๐ฆ
Corsair key board's quality had been dropping
I have 2 corsair K70 rgb. One from 2014 and one from 2021
The key caps on the 2022 worn off after just one year.
I have to swap the key caps of the 2014 one with the 2021 one.
Was not happy
2014 one I also spilled orange juice on it twice water twice. Soaked in soap water twice, and it still works fine.
I haven't spilled anything on the 2021 one yet lol.
Who's their oem for keyboards
wait isnt soaking ur keyboard a bad idea lol
i remeber linus mentioning after they did the washing keyboard in the dishwasher, it killed the keyboard in a year or something due to moisture
Not too sure. I Yolo ed it in 2016 and 2018
you can wash the keyboard aslong as you let it dry out completely. I recommend no soap dishwasher the boy and let it dry.
did amd release the fsr 3 or what ever they talked when announcing the rx 7000
or when it is supposed to release
Still yet to be released
I don't really care if it does personally though, if it's anything like dlss3 it just ruins image quality
LMAOOOOOO.
Because of the Easter sale the Corsair Virtuoso XT is only 30 dollars more expensive than the base variant.
@pale quartz Thirty dollars more than the standard edition LET'S GO.
gg
Cost more than my hd600
To be fair Arc. AUD.
im sorry did u just spend almost 400$ aud on a gaming headset lol
might as well buy audiophile grade at that point lol
although its JB hifi, ive been there before they overprice everything lol
can someone help? i cant join into a server cus : no connection with ea
I've bought from them before.
The prices at JB HI FI are similar to other places so.
if u want the perfect sound just go for sennheiser orpheus with built in glass tube amps for 55000usd
or dont
i rock some cheap hyperx alpha myself
good enough
Ye that's what I have at the current moment.
But I want to give what I have right now to my sister plus I've been meaning to give wireless a go.
when i went to melbourne to visit my sister jb hifi were overpricing laptops by over 1000+ usd
idk whats the deal with them
i went around bc my sister broke her laptop and i was helping her buy a new one
u whats crazy
i ended up buying a laptop in the US and sending it to her in melbourne
had to pay import taxes
and still cheaper than jb hifi lol
for the same laptop
i mean if the US has an inflation problem everywhere else in the world is also gonna be affected
just the nature of USD being the worlds reserve currency

Looks pretty cool
Ram tuning day 3
Feel like that Corsair headset is more than my Astro A50 Gen 4
And the equalizer software utterly destroys Corsair.
this not good enough?
Corsair definitely upped their game, but I would argue that the equalizer in Command Center is still considerably better and more customizable
Having had both headsets myself now
Now. I'm most certainly not shitting on Corsair. I have the K100 keyboard and M65 wireless mouse. Huge fan of those
I have not tried Command Center, how is it more customizable?
Just wondering, I don't have that many needs to customize my headsets ๐
Can actually change the values of each frequency
I download DTS, I press the one button and bam it's done
So more granularity or?
this thing?
My Motherboard came with DTX Ultra, pretty crap app that only seems to work with external speakers
check the microsoft store to see if you can get dts: headphone for free
ohhhh, now that I'm interested in
Anyone know anything about external amplifiers?
Looking at getting a 5 or 7 channel amp to drive my LRC channels in my home theater. Currently running a 5.2 setup, but will likely upgrade to a 7.2.2 system soon enough with replacing my Front Left and Rights and moving my current speakers to full surround back speakers and leaving my current surrounds as is.
Anyway, Klipsch claims a speaker sensitivity of 96 dB rated at 1 watt. So if I do the math properly, based on ohms law, I'm guessing that essentially speakers rated at 130 watts without bi-amping (which seems pointless anyway) won't actually benefit much from an external amp other than adding another 12 dB of SPL
I just have a 2:1 system for my computer due to lack of space and don't want the hassle of more speakers. But the 2:1 system is pretty badass so not complaining.
Any input on this from anyone with speaker knowledge?
I'm curious on bi-amping anyway. Using 4 channels from say a 7 channel amplifier to drive the front L/R speakers. Add one dedicated channel to my center channel, and let my AVR processor handle the surround speakers since surround and Atmos height speakers don't really require as much power if it makes an actual difference
God knows I've read AVR forums until I'm blue in the face, and still can't seem to get a straight answer on whether external amps are pointless or not. But the more speakers you introduce into a system, the less power an AVR is going to be able to produce to each of those speakers too.
I guess more than anything, my only real thought process is perhaps a placebo effect on increasing sound intensity while simultaneously reducing the stress on the built in amp in an AVR by letting a pre-amp do all the work instead
nice.
lol
I uninstall dts on sight
I just use my icue
Speaking of icue, if ram is unstable and u crash, all the fan profile in icue gets deleted.

OK. Hynix A die with decent tight timings gets unstable at around 48-49c
That's not much better than bdie tbh lol
can anybody who tried this game on both win 10 and 11 tell if the game performed better on each one?
I never tested games but in synthetic benchmark I tested win10 vs 11in 2022 and win11 won.
This is with a 10th gen intel cpu, if u have newer intel or amd the benefit is prob even higher.
From the videos I've seen gaming performance is usually less than 5% variance between 10 and 11
i have a ryzen 5000 series one (11th gen equivalent) i have read that all the benchmarks are better yes but i donโt know about gaming performance, a lot people say it is worse specifically in the 1% lows
Depends on enable or disable memory integrity/core isolation
For zen3 it won't really matter much.
Whatever u feel like is fine.
It's the 12th 13th gen, zen4 and esp zen4 3D u want win11 cause thread director etc.
always disabled
Jim Keller thinks Zen 5 is 30+% faster than Zen 4 in Integer performance
The fps I am getting in destiny 2 is scary
W upgrade.
Soon my friend and I will compare fps in D2 when he gets his build sorted lol
Beat me to it, lol. Just saw the performance predictions from Jim Keller
If thatโs true, Intel ought to be a bit worried about that seeing as Intel is still stuck on a hybrid 7NM fab that still uses the same architecture as Alder Lake
Meteor Lake is kind of fucked
21.5% performance uplift on โIntel 4โ which will still be 7nm fab if all that pans out.
Wonโt be enough
I mean intel can keep up with Raphael on 10nm enhanced finfet, so I don't see how they wouldn't be able to do it again https://www.guru3d.com/index.php?ct=articles&action=file&id=82634
Intel 7 (10nm) is actually comparable to TSMC 6nm in density
Intel 4 (7nm) is slightly worse than 2nd gen TSMC 4nm afaik
I wonder why you're GPU bottlenecked huhhhh

But then 5080 is riiiight around the corner
ofc. then 6080 will soon be there, might as well wait for that
nah RTX 9090
Always wait, never buy
or both
I'm waiting until I can install a gpu straight into my brain
I use to always wait. What happened when I was still rocking 4690k+970 till 2020

Bro. 7095X2 Ti
Waiting for that.
I have a 4090, but i'm coming from a 2080 Ti. That was one of the gimpiest purchases I've ever made. The 2080 Ti was such a stupid purchase. I wished i had never bought it, so I told myself I would never make such a stupid purchase like that again that was barely an upgrade hence why I didn't get Ampere. Ampere was pretty shitty.
is this dude talking to me
I'm still playing with a 1080ti ๐ฅธ
leet
Real, I wish I worked more as a teen I woulda so bought one and still have to this day
To me that was one of Nvidia's best GPU's ever made. I wished I never had upgraded to a 2080 Ti from a 1080 Ti. it was such a mediocre upgrade and not worth the money
Tbh though, the 2080 and 2080 ti and 2080 super were a waste of money
Of the 2000 series, the 2070 and 2070 super were the best cards IMO. 1000 series was good but not for streaming
Nvidia should include a free clown mask with every 4050 purchase
4050 is a perfectly fine card, except for the name and the price
Eh. I beg to differ. I can't exactly speak for streaming purposes, but the 1080 Ti was one of Nvidia's best launches besides the 580 and previous to that the 9800 GX2, and prior to that the GTX 7700
1080ti was highly overpriced
480 was trash aka Fermi. Ran super hot. And 680 and 780 were the same GPU beaten out by AMD with the 7870 Ghz Edition.
So honestly, the 9XX series were ok, but the 10XX were a pretty big upgrade
That was the last time AMD had beaten out Nvidia in the performance crown before RDNA 2 came along
True but it was also equivalent in performance to a titan X pascal which was also more power hungry.
any audiphile nerds here
im lisening to music on my new headphones and im maxing out the volume knob
but not loud enough
but only on certain songs
other songs im ok at 80%
should i get an headphone amp
here are the specs on the headphones 96 db / 1 mw , 50 ohms
Older songs are usually a bit more quieter but otherwise it seems to me that you need an amp for more power
cool
buying one now
il try a cheapo tube amp from amazon
if it sound good il return it and get a better one later
Nah 1080ti was perfectly priced.
It's the GOAT of gpu
2080ti is a great card as well but Nvidia priced it ridiculously high, plus micron vram issue, plus severely power limited.
Esp severe power limit issue. It's basically - 15% on performance
Iโll follow my own advice
Come on take it out the box and show me
Itโs just the board. Iโm waiting on switches and keycaps to come in
It was between this and the epomaker th80, the translucent black won me over.
Nah, Nvidia just managed to convince the public that it was, due to the lack of competition in the market. Still overprices as hell, not as much as GFX cards are now but still.
I remember it was 700?
and it made 1080 like a joke
1080 was $700 in 2016 then 1080Ti came out 2017 for $700 and 1080 went down to $500
1080ti is GOAT, 2080ti is 2nd hand GOAT for cheap
7800X3D outselling 5800X3D by nearly 2:1
That's for the first week of 7800X3D launch ofc
7950X3D and 7800X3D perform basically the same in gaming benchmarks
Itโs less than 5% difference
But you still get the productivity benefits of double the cores with the 7950X3D
So itโs a tossup which one is โbetterโ
The outlier is the 7900 which performs the worst of all 3
Most people are going to buy the 7800 though as the 3D CPUs are really designed for that specifically. Kind of a no brainer for $250 less if thatโs all you buy it for
7950X3D does outperform the 7800 if you disable a CCX due to its much higher boost clock. But kind of also defeats the purpose of having 8 extra cores too.
Imo the 7950x3d would be worthwhile if you're trying to invest in longevity (but mind you probably not too much more longevity)
A system with 7950x3d might be not in need of an upgrade to a newer processor for 1~2 years more than the 7800x3d imo.
In terms of affordability though, 7800x3d easily takes it and is more than appropriate for mid to high-end gaming systems.
Although another question, is the RX 7900 XT or the RTX 3080 a better buy?
the 3080 just loses, so theres your answer
Same price 7900xt by far.
out of interest, if you happened to, say, have something compiling in the background (or other production workload) when you start a game, would the other 8 cores still get parked and slow down the compilation as well?
Is this 7950X3D?
If so yes.
yeah, 7950X3D
Yep
thought that might be the case, shame ๐
I know. What a joke
but I guess you wouldn't have the two running at the same time too often
7800X3D removes nearly all the early adopter problems that the 7900X3D and 7950X3D have
It's not early adopter, it's amd being a meme and squeezing $. I mean everyone does it.
Just have to see thru it urself
Nvidia and Intel does it too
you have to tweak settings to get the most out of the 7950/7900X3D

Yeah just lasso ur entire os and program
9950X3D more like
the new 48-core Epyc Zen 4 CPU is like 10% faster than the 64-core TR 5995WX
pretty insane considering that Epyc always has lower clocks than Threadripper
When LTT lab got the 7950X3D benchmark and it barely see any performance improvement, asked amd to send a new one. Still see barely any improvement, delayed the video for almost a month.

I guess that depends on Windows scheduler. That would be an interesting test.
Also, ignore Mazda. He's just salty that the 7950X3D still outperforms his 13900ks.
Even if it does perform slightly worse than a 7800X3D in specific game benchmarks
All his commentary regarding how "Bad" the 7950X3D is, is really just buyers remorse for his 13900ks
The LTT benchmarks seem like an issue on their end considering every other reviewer had consistent results
That's because LTT has among some of the worst testing methodology when it comes to hardware reviews. LTT is an entertainer and thus gets paid on YouTube to do just that. Same goes for Jayz2Cents, Hardware Unboxed, and even Gamer's Nexus. They're all biased to a certain extent and therefore either tests get skewed, or numbers fudged. GN seems to be the most consistent, but for me nobody beats the unbiased testing methodology of Tom's Hardware
When you get paid to get clicks on your channel and AMD/Nvidia/Intel give you free hardware to "review", it isn't hard to see right through some of those "reviews" to keep whoever is supplying you and their shareholders happy.
mmm, true geforce quality
servethehome
Techpowerup seem to have the most extensive cpu testing range
Yeah I do enjoy Tech Power Up stuff as well
Yea
biased lol
BF1 servers still experiencing difficulties?
it keeps happening in the game due to vram
at least doesnt crash
Yeah. They don't at all. That's why you should oh I don't know, do your own research and read between the lines.
Big Brain.
Go ahead and take whatever LTT or GN gives you though as complete and utter factual.
๐

Use as many sources as possible

the best tester is i2Hard and FrameChasers, esp i2Hard they show u every timing and clockspeed
LTT is good now with LTT labs esp they even show u the clockspeed plot
Anyone know a mechanical keyboard similar to razer blackwidow elite where you have a nice wrist rest and media buttons+volume?
techpower up uses 2x8 single rank last time in ddr4 era
I laughed so hard LOL
now I tell customers who plays single player games 7800X 3D, everything else 13900k
Exactly what FrameChaser said.
even tho he is a douche but he is right, got to give him credit
3070 was sht when launched
still is now

thats why no one in my friend's rig I built last year has it. its always 2080ti
TPU used a 5800x with single rank for testing for a while yeah, but to be fair the config they had could do the infinity fabric @2000mhz in 1:1
I'd imagine that would leverage decent performance
I tested 6 amd cpu none can go over 3800
Almost no one in overclocking discord stabilized 4000
Nah
My ddr5 tune is complete.
Can't wait to compare fps with my friend's 7800X3D in Destiny 2.
Or should I say destroy my friend's fps
based old windows 10 background
At what wattage
depends. I can undervolt to make it draw almost no power at 1.29v at 5.6ghz or make it draw alot of power at 1.41v at 5.8ghz
intel is gonna be more efficient for me anyways since I can undervolt and power limit, undervolting and power limit amd wont fix its bs idle power which I do alot just watching youtube and listen to music
barely LOL
I aint turning on that new nvdia feature
although its really cool!
watching some of my fav music video thats 480p using that was sooo cool
but yeah if u have a balanced workload and usage
amd isnt all that power efficient. 3D versions could be alot more tho cause way less clockspeed
529โฌ vs 689โฌ 7800x3d vs 13900k
if u are just gaming def 7800X3D
I would hope its faster lol
oh that test was 7950X vs 13900k
u will save 4 euros a year with 13900k doing balanced workload
then again it all depends on ur workload
also in gaming. haha ur cpu is drawing 30 more watt! Let's ignore the fact ur fancy 3090 etc isnt drawing 350-400w in game ๐
u want cooler room go undervolt ur gpu
So I've just started my setup and I got my ps5 connected to my odyssey g9. I've put it on split screen and I've tried connecting my switch to the monitor aswell with a displayport to hdmi adaptor but it won't show up on the screen
Anyone know why?
Do they both have be on the displayport? Or can one be on hdmi and the other on the displayport
err quite a bit actually
openGL and AV1/HEVC/h.264 are just 2 forms of acceleration which happen on one video, that's because you factor in the actual acceleration rendering of the page
the switch does not support displayport, it has to be through HDMI
Just switch them two round and I'll be good yh?
should be, depends on the DP cable revision you've got for the PS5 specifically
if it's not the latest supported spec then 120hz will not work
I'll test it out real quick
and as a reminder make sure you're on the latest firmware revision for the monitor
idk if I should trust hwinfo but watching a 4k youtube the power difference is around 5-10w for cpu
now its actually less. about 5 or less
is it cause ecores?
depends on the processor
it could be accelerating AV1 on the iGPU, or the video may not be in AV1
too different per platform to cross compare
true and I am not even gonna bother to learn about thread director
2023 me is no more dragon chasing, I just wanna play games and the fps increase is INSANE
I am actually so happy
not even the thread director, intel specifically is just a clusterfuck to nail down
since budget RPL is actually ADL and budget ADL is not ADL, the iGPU accel isn't the same across the SKUs or generations
only the RPL iGPU (specifically) supports AV1 acceleration

also DDR5 oc isnt too bad now looking back
U just have to admit defeat
if u are not stable at 7800 go to 7600
Yeah, all zen 4 3D CPU's still outperform Raptor Lake in most all games, not just SP games.
the only thing I got stuck on was trcd at 44 instead of 45
Intel doesn't even come close to AMD
thats prob an ego problem
if u dragon chase u error out 20 mins in or even 1 hrs in
happened to me at trcd 44
I had similar experience doing 4133 for ddr4 on my last build, I just backed down to 4000
Again. Mazda simply has buyers remorse over his 13900ks purchase when he saw that Zen 4 3D product line kind of spanked it.
so just dont dragon chase
What would budget adl not being adl mean? As in it doesn't use golden cove
budget RPL, tldr 13600 or under use alder lake cores, not RPL
they are refresh ADL SKUs
I call it SCAM
budget RPL can go to hell lol
I know about that but what do you mean by budget alder lake not being alder lake
Locked VCCSA is another annoyance
yeah
oh sorry i was meaning ADL is budget because the e cores are hot garbage, nobody should buy it unless absolutely necessary
or if you arent using skylake gen e core SKUs
adl ring clock with e cores on after tuning is like 4.0+
rpl ring clock with e cores on rn on this system is 5.1ghz

if you are asking if that could run 2042, yes
my prosessor is so shit that it cant run multiplayer 2042
why are all these prebuilt systems pairing the 7900xt with some 2-year-old cpu lol

Memory matters.
If you're looking to upgrade your build for 1440p or 4k gaming, you need VRAM that can handle the demanding graphics of the latest and greatest titles.
See why Radeon is the best choice for enthusiasts here: https://t.co/e5hXbNclC9

Obviously
im hoping more game in the future support direct storage
lowers the requirement for vram
too bad the only game that support direct storage on pc rn is a sub par game lol
Is my windows bugged or something
I have advanced system settings hardware set to NOT auto install drivers but every time I use DDU (with the stop automatic update drivers) it keeps downloading old drivers
diablo 4 is supposed to support directstorage too
not that the beta's loading times were that long either
hype
I have icue, malwarebytes and msi afterburner in the background and the latency only went from 55.0ns to 55.7ns.
Impressive.
My old cpu took a 2-3ns hit.
I'm getting more and more impressed with this cpu.
I can spam all the YouTube video etc while I game
How do you check what's slotted into your PCIE lanes?
As in.
Surely there must be something that shows the name of what's slotted in software wise.
yes~ sort of
it supports the SDK layer integration of the I/O stack specifically
it doesnt support GPU decompression, no game does atm as it just became available a month ago
PCIe devices use the SID to identify themselves, they arent the name (e.g. RTX), why do you want to know
I'm just trying to look up the name of my network card because its bluetooth isn't working like it should.
I found it out.
Lspci and lshw commands
you can try flashing a new firmware, NIC's dont update their firmware automatically
the UEFI can just be changed
But now I'm wondering if I hit a false ASUS website cause I'm trying to download the drivers and there's no signature.
whats the NIC?
Sorry, NIC?
network integrated card
The asus PCE ax3000.
AH yeah. That's the same file I downloaded.
yeah. will be exciting to see that being used eventually.
then its the correct one, the signature isnt signed for new releases because tldr is, effort
and exciting to see the number of people complaining about performance because their SSD is weak
My 600p suffers
HDD gaming will become viable again!
anything but a 4.0 drive will be.. questionable
Downloaded the driver and bluetooth still doesn't pop up what.
1570 seq read
I could get this but I don't have pcie 4 yet
But full speed when I do
Still waiting months for intel to send me a 13600K
bt receivers are here, they dont take effect until you reboot

you have it plugged into the pcie.. only?
It should be yeah.
it wont work
the bluetooth for the NIC is an external adapter that only runs on the x1 slot
you need to plug it in
"PCE-AX3000 only supports PCI-Express x1 standard, please install the adapter in PCI-e x1 slot"
Ahhhh.
and (make sure) you plug in the USB

3080 is very power limited because how much Samsung 8nm sips power.
U get a higher end 3080 with alot of power limit u should beat 4070
But gotta admit the efficiency of ada Lovelace is absolutely crazy
I wonder how close that 2080ti KP I had vs 4070. Prob within 10-15%
๐
samsung 8nm was so bad tbh, TSMC 10nm is better iirc
4070 uses less power than my A770 lol

one thing for sure nobody will be buying the 4050
Don't think anyone's going to be buying the 4070 either. Not at $600 MSRP.
Well. Maybe. Being that it's a 3080 for $100 bucks less....
Might not be a bad GPU afterall

Using cheat software? If not contact ea support
We now have some information surrounding Nvidiaโs entry level RTX 40 series graphics card the RTX 4050. This GPU will allegedly use the same configuration as itโs laptop variant just with higher clock speeds. Itโll utilize a mere 6GB memory buffer and come with a 96-bit bus. This makes the upcoming โbudgetโ Ada Lovelace GPU, DOA. Thereโs no way ...
4050 6GB costs the same as 3060 12GB

Not cheat software
Just reinstall EAC
the RTX 4070 is by a good margin the absolute MOST cut-down xx70 class GPU chip in history, while also being the most expensive xx70 class in history

really should be a 4060Ti and cost $400-450
We gonna pretend 6800xt and 6900xt doesn't exist.
Or second hand 3080, 3080 12gb, 3080ti and 3090.

Might as well grab a laptop or pc
mobile gaming
id argue the future of mobile gaming is cloud gaming
so 16gb of ram is def overkill
need 16gb of ram so you can get all those 360 noscope in cod mobile
i mean
i have a dual screen phone
and i think 16gb of ram is overkill lol
this phone has 8 gb and i use it to run 2 apps side by side
and i NEVER cracked 6 gb lol
My guy i run a 8 gb ram phone
And codm works fine

In fact, the 4090 is kind of stupid at its core
thats what being an tech enthusiast is
I know some who does have the money but ye most of us are like that
idk man talking about stuff more expensive than the highest amount of money i have in my life savings is weird
yeah
well just bc you talk about it doesnt me u will actually use it
yeah ik, just feels weird for some reason
lu bule atau tionghua?
My gpu was 0$ though so best value
look at Linus from LTT he has access tot he best tech stuff yet what he personally use is pretty mid
and its his job to talk about the lastest in tech
whats his specs?
idk
if youre saying a 3070 or the equivalent of that mid thats kinda funny
oh wait
is 3070 mid nowadays?
yes
what
i got a 3080 for 450 bucks thats pretty mid
fuck it im not falling to the pc master race propaganda
you get it for that cheap???
how???

well isnt gpu market is overpriced af?
cant run a pc/laptop without a gpu lol
