Something pretty major (in Sweden) regarding the armed forces passed relatively unnoticed last year (2022). The Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) issued the first number of their magazine "Materiel" (very imaginative title), where they had a section on replacing the now rather old and outdated Ak 5C rifle.

Specifically it was mentioned that they are looking to replace the standard issue rifle and introduce a personal defence weapon (PDW) in the Swedish Armed Forces. These are mentioned to be in the first round of re-equipping the Armed Forces. After those have been trialled and acquired it's also mentioned that there will likely be a second round of re-equipping, specifically a new sharpshooter rifle, sniper rifle, and anti-materiel rifle.

It is also mentioned though not "timelined" that they are seeking to replace the current light machine gun and grenade launcher.

Most interesting, I found, was the mention of having the standard issue rifle, PDW, and sharpshooter rifle belonging to the same family of firearms. To me, this seems to indicate that the most likely candidate for adoption is the HK416 and 417 with variants. The fact that I own the Swedish Armed Forces' manual for those also seems to reinforce my suspicion.

In closing the article they also mentioned that the project is being undertaken together with Finland, although it is made clear that each country will make their own determination on which weapon platform(s) fit their environment the best.

I doubt it'll be something like the NGSW-R where they changed caliber of the standard issue rifle though. There's still so much 5.56 in stockpiles and likely even more going to be put on the market with the US Army (potentially) moving to the 6.8mm cartridge.

Oh, and the Nordic Combat Uniform (NCU) was finalized and started being acquired by the Nordic nations last year (2022) as well. Edit: Note that this does not mean all Nordic countries will use the same camo, just model of uniform.

Would be interesting (in my view) to see DICE's take on a Swedish specialist based on this information.

it's also not cross compatible with 2.1, using 3 includes 2.1 features

FSR2 and DLSS2.1 are more or less indistinguishable in games that use them, so saying that one is better than the other is a fallacy

they both have drawbacks and positives, FSR isn't an Nvidia exclusive technology and works on any GPU which is agnostic, it's more lightweight with its stack which means it's easier to incorporate into games than DLSS is aswell, DLSS is using a neural network so it's always going to have a better presentation in motion, etc etc
