It is. Back in it's prime, DLC model was trash. Always couldn't play with friends because I only bought the base game. Everyone only played golmud, Shanghai, and locker anyways.

I remember getting booted out of countless servers for destroying the building, which is ironic given how many peoe claim to want destruction (aka, the same scripted event over and over)

Like it's not a bad game. I put more.hours into bf4 than any other BF game so far. It's one of my favorite games and it's aged pretty well.

But it's not all it's cracked up to be at this point

BFV's gunplay was almost COD-like at points. Really fast, really snappy. I felt like a super soldier. The movement was almost too fluid... Like I felt way too agile. That's really a matter of preference, but for me it was just a little much

but yeah, there will always be people who prefer the older versions of things because of taste or nostalgia but that becomes way more potent when the current version is extremely unpopular.

Portions of fanbases will always be stuck in the past, but at the same time, blanketing a group into that just because they prefer an older system over a new one is silly. A lot of people just genuinely believe certain aspects were done far better in past games.

yeah bf1 does immersion very well. If you are looking for trench warfare, its not for you

it doesn't really feel like ww1 at all

BF1 gets boring really fast

BFV has a lot more to offer in terms of gameplay. Also the customization is really good

BFV also does vehicle combat better than any other BF.

BF4 was very boring because the only viable loadout was AP, and HMG. And tanks were identical between factions iirc.

2042 tanks ironically shares the exact same problem BF4 ones do lol.

Can't use HE, cause then you're screwed against other tanks and LAVs, even. So then you're forced to use AP, but then you can barely take on infantry.

BFV did it best with specializations.

But at least BF4 had armour angling.

i think the muzzle velocity on 2042 alone makes it superior to BF4, and honestly ive been able to deal with infantry fairly well even with AP

but yeah BFV is yet again a step above

also BFV did sights ridiculously well and nobody mentions this. Gunsights in tanks and planes were so fucking authentic

Honestly I don't notice a big difference between the two in terms of muzzle velocity, but it's been a bit since I last used tanks in BF4.

128 player conquest is probably the most fun ive had in a BF game. People often criticize the maps, but they are fantastic and fit the 128p thing very well.

the best part of the game is specialists, which are a definite step up from classes. The abilities and traits make combat more varied and less linear. The fact that there are no class based restrictions on the gun i want to use is also great. I can play exactly the way I want to play.

Vehicles are a definite step down from BFV, but by no means bad. I still have a lot of fun, especially with the jet, and its better than BF3 and BF4 with vehicles (very very unpopular opinion)

the gunplay is also fantastic. ITs not an easy snoozefest like BF1, its not dated like BF4, and its not super fast and CODish like BFV. It could use a leaning mechanic, but tbh it more than makes up for it in other areas

On youtube, its more profitable for you to appeal to the popular consensus, so you'll see reviewers unliterally say the same thing in order to appeal to their audiences. The same happens on reddit. I cant tell you how many times ive seen absolute nonsensical posts get upvoted like crazy just because the overall point is "BF2042 bad". A lot of people hate the game, and therefor every aspect of the game is suddenly atrocious. Its not getting its due credit

yeah theres a ton of it but when the game is so disliked that its the 12th worst rated game on steam then I have a hard time believing that the bandwagon is unjustified. Especially when other games that are bandwagoned against like CP77 and Death Stranding still manage good or decent reviews from people who play them.
