Okay here's what I think should happen with next BF game. I don't think DICE can release a polished full Battlefield game by next year and expect it to sell it for 70$. Instead they should release a free to play polished Battlefield framework that they can update in the years to come with new content and modes. That's why I think they should put more effort into the foundation of the game (class system, movement, animations, etc.) rather than content.

@ocean rampart As mentioned, the Igla has longer range, but the other thing it has going for it is that it’s one of your only ways to effectively counter flare/ECM spam, as you have a chance of relocking after the countermeasures expire, though honestly, that’s very unlikely. The countermeasures often end right as the missile’s flight time expires... It’s also vulnerable to aircraft dipping behind cover (which is where relocking does come into play more heavily, if someone’s just taking cover instead of using countermeasures, you can catch them by surprise). Stinger is mainly just a deterrent, to keep aircraft away, but won’t shoot them down in most cases.

Javelin (as well as guided tank shells and TOWs on LAVs) is great at shooting down aircraft if you’ve got a friend with a SOFLAM. Have a squad running multiple launchers. One squadmate fires a missile to trigger flares (assuming your target didn’t flare early just from the SOFLAM alone), another fires a quick follow-up to get the kill, and a SOFLAM-locked Javelin against an aircraft hits hard. Guaranteed one-hit kill.

Same applies to Javelin, guided shell, and TOW against surface targets. Brutal if you can get a team to provide laser designation. TOW hits pretty hard in all circumstances, but depends on manual aim if not locked, like the SRAW. Javelin and guided shell are decent on their own, with moderately high damage. Great at clearing passengers off of transport vehicles, especially RHIBs. I keep gunner SOFLAM on at all times to facilitate supporting my team.

RPG is a heavy-hitter, good if you’re running solo or doing close-quarters anti-armor work.

SMAW is most useful for anti-infantry or close-quarters, unguided anti-air. Flat trajectory, high speed, good blast radius, versus the slow movement and heavy drop of the RPG.

SRAW is a moderate-damage man-portable TOW, which was very useful until it was Nerfed. Self-destruct limits its range, which takes away the main advantage of its guidability.

Still seems to be a minimum human player count to start a match, though. On Xbox, at least, I’ve had issues with getting enough people to start a match, leaving me stuck with solo/co-op, which means no weekly mission progression...

Nonetheless, I do enjoy the game, and the harder AI settings still provide a challenge. The hardest one... No joke.

Elaborating a little further here on the poor SRAW...
I suppose the one place the SRAW still has some usefulness is hybrid combat, as a jack of all trades, master of none. The ability to fire it without locking on and to manually track a moving target while in flight makes it useful in close to mid-range combat (though the tracking has been severely Nerfed, so that’s limited), where the Javelin leaves you exposed while locking, but its damage is sub-par for that purpose. You’ll probably still die before you can finish your target off. Meanwhile, it can also lock onto laser-designated targets and get a damage boost that way (as well as the ability to engage air targets, though I don’t know how much damage it does), which helps with its versatility.

It used to have long range (possibly unlimited, I forget) and extreme maneuverability (I’m talking practically flying right angles around corners, like something out of Looney Tunes; you can see an example of a TOW showing this mobility to slap a helicopter out of the air on my Xbox profile, the second Battlefield 4 video there if you scroll down https://account.xbox.com/en-us/profile?gamertag=Delta RC 2526; unfortunately, MS makes you sign in to view it), plus its nature as a guided missile meant no drop from gravity. It was a viable weapon for hitting armor and infantry at extreme ranges with ease. Now it mostly just collects dust.

As a bit of trivia, the reason laser designation gives a damage boost is because it enables a “top attack,” where a missile dives down on its target from above, striking the thinnest portion of the armor. Bear that in mind when engaging vehicles, as the top, rear, and underside are the vulnerable points. Non-laser-designated weapon strikes to the same spot still won’t do as much as a laser-designated missile, but you’ll still greatly increase your effectiveness by attempting to replicate such attacks manually.

Hardline really wasn’t a bad game, it just didn’t fit the Battlefield brand very well, and I think that’s why it flopped. The core gameplay mechanics were Battlefield, of course, so they used the branding to give people some sense of what to expect, and to draw in an audience that they knew enjoyed the core gameplay, but...I don’t think the audience expected such a departure from the standard Battlefield formula. I really think it might have done better if it wasn’t marketed as a Battlefield title, but instead had a strong independent marketing push to the same audience as Battlefield, plus some other niches that would be more inclined to like the whole “cops and robbers” thing.

Which sniper are you using? The starting one has low velocity, that can make it a little tricky to use. The second sniper is where the sweet spot is. The NTW-50 has too much bullet drop to be very practical.

Unless you really want the infrared scope and the suppressor, the best spec for the M3 is the one where you just use the M1A1 Carbine instead. Otherwise....yeah, its whatever fits your playstyle.

Eh, the airburst blast is still meh, from what I recall. Outside of hardcore, I still find the most effective way to use the UCAV in its current state is to roadkill people with the wings, and ignore the explosive potential. Basically just treat it like a SUAV.

If I recall correctly, it’ll survive wing impacts, so you can cut through a few people, and then detonate.

I’m not that skilled, but I’ve seen people who can fly SUAVs and even UCAVs through the hallways on Operation Locker, just cutting down entire squads with their wings.

Explosives are viable in hardcore, but in core, they’re just an annoyance.

Blips still show when people fire, and spots still persist on the big map, if anyone actually bothers to spot their targets. I don’t know how convenient the big map is to access on PC, but you just hold start on console and it’s there, once you tab away from the scoreboard. My friends refuse to use it, but...it works great for me.

You know what I really miss doing, though? Strafing infantry with stealth jets. My preferred method really only works in core... You take the laser-guided missile, and use its camera as a spotting camera. Spot targets, then use that camera to help you line up. Switch off the camera as you approach, and once you’re close enough for 3D spotting markers to show up, you finalize your alignment, and let loose with 25mm.

25mm cannons seem to be the sweet spot for engaging infantry with stealth jets. High ROF, and just enough spread to compensate for aiming errors.

Rogue Transmission is great for it. So many predictable sniping perches. If I’m not getting shot to pieces by jets or engaging armor, I’m strafing snipers. 😄

There’s something very satisfying about nailing infantry with guns that are meant for anti-air combat, on an aircraft that was never really meant for ground strafing. 😄

its a network error...you need to establish a connection with EA master servers...go to multiplay screen - choose the play now or suggested server option depending on game...i assume it's bf4 as this is re-curring...after getting in game exit and now you can play servers via browser
