Flares basically just distract the incoming missile when used
ECM does prevent you from being locked and if you use it after the missile has been fired it doesn't 100% prevent you from getting hit by anti air

So if you set it to 300m zeroing, if you're shooting someone at 300m+, then you don't need to adjust for drop as much.
