For assault I basically use Turner or the stg44 (i tried the garand but that 8 round clip is painful. i think the turner was my semi-auto of choice back in the day)
Medic is all suomi all the time
Support is the m30 or the MG34 depending on which is more appropriate

As someone on West Coast US, should I only connect to North America servers in Battlefield 4?

I assume East Coast players connect to NA and Europe servers, but I imagine I'm too far for that, I suppose.

Ideally yes, since that's the closest to you, but if you have to join a european or south american server (for example, maybe the only currently populated server running DLC maps is in europe) then there's nothing wrong with that, you just won't get a super good ping

I'm east coast US and I get around 150ms ping joining a German server in BF1, which is a bit wonky in some situations but it's mostly playable

Man the GTX 970 is like literally the best card for BF games. Like I'm running this thing at 1440p bf1 and getting like around 100 fps. And I used to use this card for 1080p gaming when initially built a gaming pc.
