Second thing: AT weapons. This one's admittedly tricky, though I'm a little confused what close range AT weapons you're referring too. 2 out of the 3 AT launchers are very much intended for longer ranges, with the third still being usable at range (with practice). On top of that, BFV's AT weapons are very much more position based, meaning flanking a tank is absolutely a more viable strategy. I can understand why this might be annoying, but honestly I prefer this

In terms of close quarters weapons...most of BFV's maps (especially the maps in the tactical conquest modes) are VERY much CQC oriented. Operation Underground, Marita, Solomon Islands, Rotterdam, and Devestation come to mind, it just tends to also include its fair share of maps emphasizing more medium to long range combat, something I felt was also very prevalent in BF1 (cough Sinai)

The only thing like it are the desert maps in BF1 which are honestly so terrible that if you poke your head out you take an anti tank round between your eyes, and if you don’t poke your head out you get shredded by a mortar
But desert maps are a minority in BF1 while like you mentioned, most of BF5’s maps are heaven for vehicles, snipers and AA
What I like about BF1, is that even bad things like the astronomical shell drop, it discourages people from sniping and makes it much more difficult, which is a good thing imo

Here's where I disagree sharply, and it can be summed up in two words: Sweet Spot. This, in my eyes, was one of the worst mechanics BF1 takes a hit from, as it massively decreases the amount of skill it takes to snipe. In my eyes, it seems like they didn't really think through the ramifications of giving most snipers in the game a range that removed the need to hit headshots, something that has been crucial to balancing snipers in other titles.

Just like BF1 has trenches and shellholes, BFV has cover as well. Panzerstorm, for example, while covered in fields, was surrounded by ditches, low walls, hedgerows, trees, and other soft or hard cover that I use frequently to get through. BFV is very much a game about positioning (as are many other BF titles), and this extends to transit as well.

that is true, however the undergrowth only covers small parts of the map and is stretched in thin lines, like a spiderweb. Anything in the middle doesn’t allow you to get close to it enough to effectively destroy it without scaring it off. In BF1 not only is cover scattered everywhere, but also tanks are slow and easier to destroy, in BF5 destroying a greyhound without another tank is very difficult, since even if you heavily damage it, it can just run off and repair. Lunge mine charging wont help either, as the tank is way too fast for you to catch up
And besides, while lunge mine charging, you yell so loudly, any tank driver will hear it

This is true, the routes for movement are often thin. However, smoke exists and is much more emphasized in BFV (or at least more commonly utilized) than in BF1. BF1 may have more frequent cover, but I'd personally argue BFV isn't too far behind. Those who utilize positioning often excel. In terms of dealing with tanks...the Greyhound is an interesting choice, since it is far and away one of the weakest tanks in the game, often killable in 2-3 rocket hits (especially if using a PIAT, which can do 50+ in one hit to those tanks)

If you ignore the top gunner, he’ll track you by your rockets and sooner or later hit you, thus locating you and kill you, and if not that, the driver will fire where the machine gunner does, usually leading to your death. However, if you decide to kill the top gunner, the driver will know what’s up and run from any undergrowth or buildings which might serve as cover. If you use smoke, the driver will run from the smoke while the machine gunner will cover him with fire, rendering you unable to leave cover and give pursuit to perhaps land an extra hit. There are simply no options.

My problem here is that, theoretically, yes, this situation could happen on paper. My experience though generally has shown me otherwise. Yes, sometimes you're kinda fucked when a tank shows up. Its a tank, thats just kinda how it goes. Lets not forget that the average tank driver isn't some omniscient professional, I've come across my fair share of oblivious tank drivers, especially when I keep my head on a swivel and work the flanks. We're also looking at this from the scope of a you vs tank situation, when, more commonly, it ends up being you+several teammates vs tank. Tanks at the end of the day are supposed to be a huge threat, one that can be most easily countered as a team, and one that takes very careful play to handle as an individual.

Yes, tanks usually are uncoordinated and easy to kill, but so are teammates. Unless you’re all in a vc, it’s still sometimes hell to destroy a tank while one teammate is shooting it with a machine gun, the other throwing smoke, another is dead, another is escaping in a jeep while you have to face the tank alone. A coordinated tank crew is just as rare as a good and coordinated tank kill squad.
