Actually I fixed the input lag on my laptop temporarily by doing a 'clean boot' and then opening the game, the input lag wasn't there until about 10 minutes into a match

This issue only happens in Battlefield, any other game it runs perfectly, like Witcher 3, Escape from Tarkov and MW2019

I judge a players skill, not just off of how well they perform (good gunplay), but how they listen to the squad/team. I'd rather take a guy who's supportive of the team than a lone wolf player any day of the week.

No because it's muscle memory and reflex and once someone does indeed get better, they don't resort to their old ways because it's instinctual instead of emotional or whatever you'd like to call it. But with teamwork? Especially going above and beyond just game mechanics and playing to help the team which may actually not lead to kills or better stats, teaching doesn't matter at that point even if it's "easier" to teach, it's a matter of character at that point whether someone is willing to do that, and even then they can start caring more about their performance and less about the team members around them.

That's because the game tries too (though usually badly) support the DS4 on it's own. You can solve this by enabling Hide DS4 Controller in DS4Windows' settings, then connect the controller BEFORE you launch the game.

Give that a look as well and see if hiding it helps too, you said it was going crazy so I assume it's the same issue they're describing in their FAQ

When in the main menu, on the bottom right there will be 4 squares, one of which hopefully filled with your PFP. Click which ever option opens up the menu then click the “create squad” button. It’ll create a squad. Now you can invite friends to your squad and game

What fixed it for me is deleting the origin folder under %programdata%

Friend did the same, after restarting and reconnecting evrything was fine and we could play.
