Well you could use Steam or Epic to play Battlefield. The thing is that you would have to buy the game again, BUT from what I understand (and I may be wrong on this) is that Epic and Steam have there own gaming servers so you would get different players on those launchers.

Mortars are super hard to counter and super safe and easy to use, so they're viewed as low skill and annoying
