Honestly, the best tip I can give you is try all the guns and find the ones you like most and use those. That would be step 1, and it helps more than people think. I love the L85 in BF4, but I can't stand the charging handle looking the way it does. Even something as minor as that can affect your play.

Hey, sorry if this has been discussed to death but I can't find any Google results.

I re-downloaded this on Xbox SX today as a friend and I are playing through the series in prep for 2042. I keep getting massive server latency and ping issues when playing on European (German) servers. I'm based in the UK and didn't have any trouble playing on German servers through BF4 or BF1 but here the game is almost unplayable and the ping can reach the 200-300s.

Is this a known issue? Is there a way to circumvent it?

The BAR is a quick-firing weapon and can kill quick, but it has a tiny mag.

The BAR tends to do better at pretty short ranges. I'd recommend using something more controllable and consistent for the time being.

Basically, mag-fed LMGs are like fat assault rifles, while the belt-fed MMGs are for plonking yourself down and letting loose.

The Lewis gun is a sort of middle ground, an LMG that can pack 97 rounds with an upgrade.

Hmm LMGs tend to not deal much damage and have poor accuracy, that might be why you aren't securing any kills
