They've made a modified version of BR called Hazard and then that way they can say "We got rid of single player and BR and kept the focus on core gameplay like you wanted us to do" when in reality they only did half that. BR takes a lot more planning than just throwing a BR mode together and calling it BR. That's easy to do, but PUBG really sets the standard for a BR, if you dont have at least what PUBG has in terms of the gear/armor/looting....then you're already failing unless you re-invent BR.

Yeah I feel you. I was kinda neutral on the trailer. I wish they had gone for a more cerebral/methodical feel but I get that they were trying for a big audience and wanted to make a statement that "Battlefield was back" - I'm mildly optimistic though that if they can make the game a lot more refined then they may have something. Also the emphasis on larger maps makes me feel like there's a chance we might get more of that team feel back. Instead of being funneled into zones we'll have some breathing room to actually think and plot and act as squads that are working on different tasks but united in the overall goal.

Okay, so, serious question.
I'm a big fan of BF4 now-a-days and 3 & 2 are just a distant memory. Is BF5 worth getting? I played it a bit in the "Open teeeestiiiing~" and it felt like shit. Is it any good nowadays?

I'm probably against bigger maps just because usually all the fights are so far and spread out...you're either in a fight, or running to one for a period of time only to get killed on the way to a fight...and then it's a respawn to repeat that process. Back in the ol' BF2 days, I played the 16v16 maps usually, there was a good mixture of cqb alongside distance fights, and a lot of flanks depending on the map. I've also 3000+ hours in Escape from Tarkov, a battle sim game, so I'm already going to be turned off if the gunplay is arcadey in feel, after playing so much tarkov, I can't really enjoy any other shooters because the gunplay feels artificial. Funny thing is, BF used to be that game that set the standard for me in gunplay, I always felt BF got a good mix of sim/arcade style gun mechanics, but in the most recent games since BF4, it's turned very COD-like. I hope for the best with this one, and if it's not my thing, no harm/no foul.

so we have been thinking, the game could have a skill based xp point that could level players up and that would give them special skills like the "wingsuit man"
things DICE played on battlefront 2 can be implemented here
such as special gadgets for a tankier special charecter that only veteran players could play as, and one of their gadgets could give their location for a short amount of time
and one player could get more xp from killing higher level players
or a group of newer players could attack veteran's in a group
or a wingsuit player would get a special objective, to travel to another side of the map and clear a defending base with their squad
stuff like these could help the lack of matchmaking that we see in other games
