Snipers suffer immensely up close unless you can consistently land lucky flickshots so they have their drawback in certain maps / zones. Much like how automatics slap ass up close but will be disadvantaged against sniper ranges. A lot of it really does come down to the map, Galicia in BF1 comes to mind etc
