A reason I like Battlefield more than most Battle Royale type games is that I don't have to go and loot and upgrade gear and weapons + replace armor plates on the fly. It's also a bit slower which makes it a bit more about strategy and less about reflexes and intricate muscle memory.

I guess if I had to choose between the two I would still rather do premium over the live service model but I can see why a lot of people would not like that

Or they could do it like squid says and then after the season is over they release the cosmetics in the armory to buy with earned currency like BFV

I hope they have it where they have skins in shops you can buy with real money, and there are other skins in the game that are free or can be bought with game credits, and the battlepass gives out skins.

Believe me multiple people tried to say this yesterday. It was met with being called a bootlicker for supporting battlepass instead of support 15 dollar DLCs that include maps and guns that everyone may not even get or play on
