Yeah bullets in BF is not like laser, so there will be a travel time, which you have to account for, so depending on how fast the target is moving, you'll want to aim ahead of the target

Aim assist slowdown will especially screw with your aim, because it makes the reticle really sticky when it lands on an enemy. It's really bad especially if you're shooting at a moving target.
