Nope, its pretty much entirely RNG as far as I know

Though the most expensive packs give the most puzzle pieces

Totally random. Technically, you have a better chance with the more expensive crates. But, you can also just spam the cheapest ones.

Now, map to map I don’t think is needed. But they definitely should have kept the waves.

Wave system is interesting and I think fits BF1's setting a bit more, but honestly it just feels like breaking up the gameplay cycle a bit more

The nice thing about having only one map is that it allows you to switch maps (and sides) more often
