battlefield V plane fighting is so dumb. The turn rate is almost the same for all planes and the flight model isn't advanced enough to do any proper manuevers so all fights are just you going in the circle.

StG44 is an okay entry level choice
It is not spectacular at anything in particular
But it is straightforward enough in use to not get in your way as you learn the class and weapon
Sure, fast automatics and SMGs will have an edge on you up close, but you have a good enough fighting chance
And on mid-range semis are better, but again, 44 still is reliable enough to give you a decent chance to counter
Without forcing you to isolate 1vs1 fights as much as some semis do
(Although isolating 1vs1 fights is a healthy approach for any weapon regardless)

The slide/slide cancel mechanic is actually pretty intricate in bfV. Very useful and can be sort of "exploited" with some practice. I.e. sliding around corners, up stairs, 360°, etc
It's better than drop shotting imo
And like Riptor said, dive on to your back and fire is a thing too
Movement mechanics in bfV are pretty top-notch compared to other fps games I've seen/played
