I think I see what Isekai is trying to say. Mechanically, V's is arguably the best in the series, but that doesn't mean people can't prefer one game's gameplay over another's. Some people for whatever reason prefer 1's slower, more RNG based gameplay, and while someone like myself may not be able to understand how or why, that doesn't make that person "wrong" necessarily.

I don't think random bullet deviation eliminated skill. At the end of the day you could choose a weapon that had very little/no deviation so it was all about skill still. The options that had more bullet deviation were specifically for close range where deviation wouldn't be a factor. And even then I've tap/burst fired tons of people with the MP28 at a decent range.

By having bullets fly in random directions, you are objectively taking a degree of control out of the player's hands. The thing is with tapfiring (like you mentioned with the MP28) is that you objectively needed more "skill" to get those kills at longer ranges. You aren't nearly as effective as someone with a semi-auto rifle, LMG, or Assault Rifle, but you're still viable to an extent. On the contrary, by eliminating any sort of range control through random deviation, the game effectively disallows you the ability to even try. It's simply better flexibility and overall more skill-oriented, as opposed to just crossing your fingers and hoping your bullet doesn't fly meters to the side of your sights.

Yes, and I'm fine with taking a degree of control out of the player's hand for the sake of balancing weapons at ranges and promoting other skills. Having random bullet deviation makes you pick your fights more carefully, position more carefully, and generally play smarter. Battlefield has always been about playing smarter compared to a lot of other shooters, not simply being the better shot. Games like CS and CoD to an extent are games where twitch reflexes and perfect aim are the #1 skill. It's a big part of Battlefield too, but I personally always felt Battlefield skill wise was more about movement and positioning than shooting. Now it's more about who sees/shoots the other first. Yeah movement and positioning are still relevant, but I feel they are much less at the forefront in BFV since everyone just sprints around running and gunning.

And thats exactly the issue. Its forcing you to position better because you have less control over your own weapon. Like I said earlier, you can have your preferences between different gunplay styles, as thats entirely your prerogative. Looking at it objectively though, BF1 is forcing you to choose positioning based on where you'll actually be able to have a % chance of hitting someone, while in BFV, it feels to me more like choosing positioning based on your weapons statistical strengths and weaknesses. You can use a weapon at any range, but your degree of efficacy will vary. And, through that, learning the limits of your weapon through skill and experience can help to expand those. Like I said, flexibility over rigidity.

like ADS movement speed or slightly reduced recoil or whatever, it’s not a massive deal

the few exceptions would be when it comes to picking mag size vs rate of fire since typically mag upgrades make it a bit easier to use the gun whereas RoF increases might make it kill faster but limit you to smaller engagements

but it’s still basically preference, just more people tend to go for extended mags
