In most cases, any upgrade thats "magically better" has a distinct downside. Faster rate of fire? No mag upgrade, higher recoil (or less recoil control). And in most other cases where thats not entirely true, the change is minute. Get something that decreases recoil? The gun still has recoil, it doesn't become a pure laser. On top of that, just like everything else, you may be sacrificing the ability to get another upgrade by choosing the recoil decrease.

Also something else I've just realized, I think the argument of not having access to a larger mag size in exchange for something else not being a big enough disadvantage loses its credibility with certain weapons. It may not be the end of the world with something like the thompson (20 rounds vs 50 rounds), but that difference becomes astronomical with other weapons such as the MG-42 (50 rounds vs 250 rounds). Both these guns sacrifice ammo capacity for rate of fire and vice versa.

BF1 is slow and has WWI atmosphere with historically accurate uniforms while 5 is a much more fast paced WWII "atmosphere" (there is none but it's quite fun) with soldier and vehicle customization
