yeah i get your opinion. it's what i actually dislike about bf1 and a bit of the maps of 4. they're very linear and end up getting pretty meatgrindy. it's kinda like how treyarch likes to build threelane only maps. What I like about bfv is that they're more designed as conquest maps ala 3. the objectives are more spreadout, you have way more flanking routes to get to an objective. however if you're used to linear maps where your enemies are always coming mostly from the front, these maps might not appeal to you. as you need a lot more map knowledge to know what nooks and crannies an enemy can come from
but they're two different design philosophies. one is more in bringing as much action as possible and end up with a more killingfloor/meatgrinder gameplay, whereas the other provide more sandboxy experience with flanking routes and different approaches to a battle

Well, maps like Locker on Bf4 were designed to be more or less 3 lane meat grinders, if you push a lane you can flank the enemy from that lane.
Yet in battlefield 5 maps like Panzerstorm are quite cancerous most of the time. The only real fighting happens in tanks. If you go as infantry you can only really fight around C and D ( the mid one) if I recall correctly. The back points usually never get touched except when 1 random squad of friends go there

No, not really. Maps like provence, if I recall the name correctly, were quite decent in Bf5. Although they did have the two points off to the side, it was designed to be that way. So infantry can fight over the majority of the points, since the majority of the server would be infantry, yet the other two points can be fought over by vehicles.

Regarding the BF5 pacific, the Solomon Islands by far was the best. Iwo Jima was super cancer. You just run in a clear field most of the time and get sniped. Tank fights also were quite bad since the Japanese tanks were way better then the American ones
