The difference is how standing on vantage points tends to open you up to near enough the whole map, when cod is designed to only have you be visible from a select few spots. Also sniping at that range isn’t going to be particularly effective due to drop, velocity and damage drop off. To solve the first issue, use some form of cover to cut off parts of the map from your field of view. You want to use rocks, walls, trees - anything - and ask yourself ‘can I be shot from somewhere beyond what I can currently see and accurately flick to’. If the answer is no, cut off more by using cover.

In terms of being effective, snipers tend to be best when within 100m, around 40-70 is where I play mine. Pre aiming and peeking common, rather tight defensive spots and utilising its precision and instant ttk

Past 175 or even 200 the effectiveness lessens and your value decreases dramatically. You want to be in a spot where your kpm beats the average spawn rate of a player, so that you aren’t just getting a kill - letting that player respawn - kill the same person and not properly contest space. If you are in a spot where you can get kill after kill and you are actually diminishing their numbers, there is value

I really loved Bad Company 2, the knife was the first weapon I got a platinum star on, second with the GoL. I started to feel more alienated after that because of the anti-sniper mechanics that just seem silly.

Yeah I definitely have noticed that I find more success playing at more of a middle level as opposed to playing as high up as I can, esp since I generally have a wall or mountain to my back when I play middle ground.

Thank you for the tip about cover :) It’s not that I don’t use cover but I don’t seem to position myself properly when I do so, which leads to being exposed to more angles than I need to. I’ll try to keep that mental note that you mentioned.

I thought sniping at range would be most effective, I think that most of my gunfights so far have been at the 200-500m range but rarely within the 0-100m range. I’ll try playing more of a closer range type of style.

I think another one of my biggest issues so far is just not knowing where enemies are at all. A lot of the times, I have no idea where to look unless I see a sniper glint or I see a little red icon/ name tag. I guess that aspect of the game will just come with playing more and when that happens, I think it’ll be far easier to see enemies. I’m only 3.5 hours in and I’ve already noticed that my eyes seem to be noticing movements that I wasn’t noticing when I first started playing yesterday. It’s kinda cool tbh

Yeah that’s something I’ve noticed too. I might be getting a few kills but they’re not really impactful, I’ve lost almost every game I’ve played so far (lost 6 out of 8 games) and idk why or if that’s normal.

I’ll try combining the things you said and positioning myself around 100m from an objective so I can try and pick off enemies who are contesting or capping it

Yes, on that last point, that makes total sense. Learning where enemies are is a skill itself and takes a little while to pick up on. Especially if you are used to the smaller maps of cod.

First step would be to employ that use of cover, if you set yourself up properly to where you know nobody can get you who you cannot see, you have the time to look out for enemies. That's a useful starter.

A lot of it comes from map knowledge too. There's a saying I like to use here and there - 'Pros are cheating, because they've experienced that fight already'. it's kind dumb but I found it helps explain things. Whenever you die to an enemy, make a note of where from. Whenever you are back in a similar position or that position is ever in your field of view, check it. After enough deaths you will naturally be looking at the common spots someone would be, to the point where after enough time you can sweep across the hilltop of flashpoint and dome anyone you see

Guys I need some help. I was super excited for battlefield 6 to come out so I decided I wanted to play some 2042 that I had downloaded on my EA app on PC. I haven’t touched the game in awhile and played it before with a ps5 controller no problem but now when I tried to play it with that controller, all my controls are messed up making it unplayable because EA doesn’t support PlayStation controllers. I tried using DS4 but apparently now that’s blocked by their anti-cheat for some reason. I also bought battlefield V because it was on sale on the EA app and that didn’t work either. I even tried to download battlefield V (bought again) on my steam account to try to bypass the EA app but even then when I tried to open it up it’s saying I need to change my password on EA app even after I do so leaving me in a loop of resetting my password. After some digging apparently my steam EA account is already linked to another steam account that has an email that I’ve never heard of before but it won’t let me unlink it. I’ve sent an email to EA but who knows how long it’ll take for them to reply or if they’ll even help me. I’m at a loss at this point to be honest and I want to get this figured out before BF6 drops so any ideas would be appreciated

I'm PC only therefore I only use mouse and keyboard, never had a console before, but yes since they have the new anti cheat I keep hearing stories about controllers not working, there might be a specific controller that would work on PC only?

As for the EA app or steam I highly recommend using EA app only since it's less of a hassle linking accounts and starting the game, every time there is a sale happening (happens on EA app and steam at the same time) people complain about not being able to open a bf game

If I were you I'd try to get access to the old email and recover that account, otherwise you won't be able to link the new account

What you might try is to get an online chat going with EA, email is usually hit or miss from my experience

The map scale is definitely something I'm trying to get used to but man, I am loving it. Cod maps have gotten irritatingly small, as well as remastering the same maps for years in a row, and the maps in Battlefield are a breath of fresh air.

Gotcha, I shall focus on my use of cover to begin with and stop worrying so much about kills.

The saying definitely makes sense because they've been in that situation so often that they just instinctively know what to do. I do try to keep track of where I last died from but it gets a little confusing when large areas of rock just look the same to me, so I lose track of what rock they were using for cover.

The common spots definitely makes sense. Whenever I spawn into a game, I automatically look for the highest vantage point from where the enemy can see our areas, so it makes total sense to think of it from the opponents pov and then play elsewhere that they won't expect as much. Currently, I'm getting the biggest dopamine hits from counter sniping enemies or from hitting shots/ killing enemies who are running.

I wouldn't mind sending you a clip or some gameplay but atm I think it would be pretty boring since I either run around like a lost puppy or I tend to hunker down and play behind one piece of cover until I die.

I do have a few 2 min clips where I get a nice double or triple kill towards the end so I could send the link here, which would allow you to not only see the kills but also how I play in the lead up to them

Good stuff. Count sniping is a good way to learn those spots too since when scope glint is shining at you, you can pinpoint where they are almost immediately. And while yeah, the randomness of rock faces can make it hard to remember what spots were what specifically, if you at least remember the region someone was in you can scout around it and spot them. It’s eliminating randomness by checking as much as you can and not leaving a spot up to chance - that’s the main concept here, being in control.

Yeah, I hated the addition of glint in cod but in a game such as Battlefield it makes complete sense. I have been trying to be mindful of my own glint so I have been trying to not stay in my scope as much as I did yesterday. I would stay scoped in and scan areas until I saw an enemy but now, I scope in for a bit then scan and scope out.

Keeping track of the general region as opposed to specific rocks defo makes sense so I will try to keep that in mind. Staying in control seems like the primary thing and the way you explained it defo makes sense. Thank you :)

problem with all server browsers since BF 3 is that it will show empty servers as well, that is why under free slots you must select the following: none, 1-5, 6-10 and 10+ must be selected

didnt get into 2042 that much in the end, it felt like a halfmeasure between bf3/4 and a true 2143... after all the teasing of titans in the end of bf4 and they stopped short by going near future... IMO it missed the future crowd, but didnt capture the modern crowd either really.

I kind of got out at a BF1 as well because while the mechanics was great, I didnt like the early setting, and the lack of joystick support was super annoying to me, although I kind of have to face it that we will never have proper analogue joystick support again I guess

The hand flare will detonate the mine after a few moments and any kills gotten with that blast will be credited to the flare

It works because flares actually do a minuscule amount of burning damage, and one shot from a DMR is enough to weaken the slam to the point where a flare can burn it to detonation point

BF console history: - The term OG's in Battlefield actually started in EA BF2MC forums and old xbox BF2MC forums around 2006. This is because BF2MC started on OGxbox and PS2 with the 360 the only next gen port/build close to launch. It wasnt avail on PS3. I played BF1 operations for the first time yesterday and that thing is banging! Top notch atmosphere.

I think BF6 should have a BF: Bad Company 2 mode, where it cuts 90% of the detail in all textures, scales back the effects by like 80%-90%, max players = 32, removes 'prone' position, adjusts load-outs accordingly, and generally simplifies the look and feel. The same BF6 can exist at its core, this would just be scaling things back a lot to give a vibe that's similar to BC2. Seems like it would be fairly simple to achieve. (It's harder to 'add' detail... this would be 'removing' and 'simplifying' detail.) I find that every BF game since BC2 tries harder and harder to make the game look uber realistic. The charm of BC2 is the readability of everything, and its clean aesthetic. BF3 and beyond are all about more and more realism and flashiness, including bombastic, hyper-forced frag fest non-stop action and customizations. BC2, for me, was a sweet spot moment in time. When I look at BF6 visuals, I just see 'more of the same'... a relentless pursuit of uber realism. Explosions getting more and more crazy. Frag fests getting more frenetic, chaotic, and frequent. BC2 at least let you breathe every now and then.

I really doubt there will be a way to simplify graphics and do all those things. BF2042 had Portal, too, to play BC2 maps, but the graphics / look & feel were still "BF2042". AND there was no Hardcore mode. So it was a big turn-off for me. Didn't really feel or play like BC2. I don't understand the fascination with mini-maps and HUD icons showing enemy locations non-stop, yet BF developers force us to play that way. I think there was maybe a week long "event" where Hardcore was enabled for BF2042, but it really just needs to be a server option we can always select if we want, 100% of the time. I 'never' want to play non-Hardcore. If BF6 has no 'Hardcore' mode option always selectable for Conquest matches, I will probably never buy it

But regarding the EA app rather than steam

1.usually less problems with starting the game

2.if steam is down you won't be able to start the game probably, heard stories from people I've helped in the past

3.performance could be an issue running two clients

4. in case your steam account gets compromised you still have EA and wouldn't ''lose'' everything

I had an experience whe I got far cry 3 on steam and had to isntall uplay as well

worked fine first day, second day steam was down and I couldn't play since it required both accounts

So I always go with the native client

also a thing I heard from COD players is that battlenet is better since you get the updates first and the performance is around 1-2% better

steam gets the updates a bit later and has a downtime

you can buy it where you want it's just a suggestion

Clarification on AI Soldiers within Open Beta.

AI Soldiers are only present on the "Training Grounds" playlists within the Open Beta. This week is "Breakthrough Initiation".

Breakthrough Initiation is a playlist that allows you to experience Breakthrough alongside 15 other players, with additional AI Soldiers filling up the match thereafter.

Training Grounds playlists are here to introduce people to the core elements of Breakthrough, and offer a smoother experience than a full lobby.

Additionally, you can experience Breakthrough without AI Soldiers by playing Breakthrough from the "Featured" playlist row.

Training Grounds is only available for the first 15 ranks, at which point it will disappear from the front end.

true, it does need some work. Weapons need ADS time adjusted as well. Maps are mid/small for conquest for a BF. Gameplay and Performance are good tho. Oh well, just my two cents anywho. lol

for BF6? probably check out the #battlefield-6 to see if anyone else has similar issues. Sounds like a connection/nat issue to me tho.

Any bf4 players want to share their thoughts on bf6? For me it feels too small, I'm hoping we get bigger maps at launch and also scopes bigger than a 6x. The gunfighter up close feels good but a little bit too much like cod for me (too many kids spam crouching mid gunfight and sliding into every single room)

Oh also not sure what happened to tanks but they feel hard to enjoy now

Our team has been investigating reports of an infinite loading screen sometimes occurring when matchmaking into Siege of Cairo while playing Conquest.

Even If they put previous maps from the franchise it would not be enough to redeem it for me. The new chopper flying dynamic is worse then 2042 and it is already a huge downgrade from BF3 and BF4. If EA would make a remake combining BF3 and BF4 that would safe the franchise.

now it's target audience is console/ cod players the heli is so bad
