I'm fine it since most people are just going to drift towards ARs and SMGs. The only ones I'd see being worth locking are LMGs, shotguns, and bolt actions, but most people will just use an M4 variant anyway

I think if theyre truly worried about niche weapon types causing classes to get overlooked then they could simply have one more flexible weapon type per class. Something like this
Assault: ARs and Shotguns
Engineer: Carbines and PDWs
Support: LMGs and Battle Rifles/Large Mag ARs
Recon: DMRs and Snipers.

The big issue with BF4 assault is that he is both the best class for fragging and for supporting his team. Its not "hurr people just pick the AR", its that the class does so much that a large number of players will find him to be the best option for what they want to do.

To everyone wonder why you can’t see the Battlefield playtest on your EA playtesting page, I was able to get in touch with one of the Project managers for Playtesting at EA and this is what they had to say:

“There’s nothing missing on your end, just have to be patient! Only selected players got an invitation so far; it won’t show up on the portal unless you’re selected. If you get selected, you’ll get an e-mail. With the extremely large number of sign-ups they’re receiving, they unfortunately can’t guarantee that everyone will get in.”
