Hey team, I recently (as of yesterday morning) started having issues with BF1. Game would fail to launch, and I would get EA Anticheat errors. I tried trouble shorting by doing everything short of a fresh windows instal, but no luck.

I’m on windows 11, and the game was working fine just last week. I bought the game through steam.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything (game, steam, ea app, all ea anticheat software) but no luck.

That seems really odd, I can't seem to understand the design choice to limit the squads to four players. It doesn't make any difference to the online traffic nor resource use of the matches. People have been asking for a bigger squad size for a while so that they can play with their discord friends at least up to six or eight, it would really improve the games community feel as I think players will have a sense of friendship groups that they can play with. I would also be gobsmacked if they left in the feature where you are put into a different lobby. Every time a game finishes, that's one of the most strangest game flaws I've come across in a battlefield game. And I'm talking since the original BF one and two.

What you're saying is completely correct, but they should have the capacity to design the system for multiplayer matchmaking correctly so that it automatically seeks out players who might be on their own or two people to fill up the rest, that's what it does at the moment. I joined so many games on battlefield 2042 where people join individually to fill out the last space of 10 slots on a 64 map so it doesn't really make a difference. I'm not sure what the AI plan is as well, but if they're planning to have AI that can always be the placehold and retainers. Also, yes, I know it makes it easier but it doesn't have to be 32 or 64, it might possibly make it better from a design point of view and maybe the programming, but I feel like there are far more resources to be able to go around that.

If Sony could do it for PlanetSide 2 then dice definitely have the capacity to do so as well.

If anything, at least the five players would be an improvement, it's already been done so I'm not sure why they reduced it again. Again. Probably to accommodate the large 128 player base, but still you get where I'm going to

I've been positively surprised by how well the anti-cheat has worked over the last year in Battlefield V. I see many complain about cheaters in the chat, but most are not cheating in my experience. This last year, with the new anti-cheat, I got maybe 1 cheater after every 20 rounds. The round with a cheater, you get one with a relatively weak cheat compared to what we had before the new anti-cheat, and he gets banned or leaves the next round.

Now you have people cheating for weeks again! It is so obvious that they cheat, all is unnatural, they hit like gods and walk like bots. And their stats are 100% cheat-infested. Like this guy I recently played against (all red on the cheater stats tracker site), ruined at least 50 games since he started on this account 11 days ago. There is no point in making a new game with no server browser and no server admins when you can't kick out obvious trolls like this. How is this going to end when you even bring in a F2P experience?

Yes, it has worked really good for a year now in BFV. Now they play for weeks again after getting mass reported by the server and they have pretty obvious cheater stats. They need to be on top of this issue and actively improve/monitor the system. This is what really kills the games and trust to the developer.

If they DICE really don't care about anti-cheat in their older games, why not let the game die instead of putting in a new anti-cheat? It only have a few, and by design they're not ment to be in the server browser/match making. They're kinda hacked and you don't have good admin tools on them (it is difficult to have a banlist since there is no good tools). Since they still sell the games, they should probably try to keep them free of cheaters. And if the cheating problem starts getting out of hand, someone should probably tell them instead of thinking; "well, its a old game, who cares!". After all, they added the anti-cheat last year after the game was ruined by cheaters for 6 years, maybe they want to do something about the cheat problem (it has actually been good for a year now, but lately it has taken a worse turn).

at this point in time I think we can be happy with them adding EAAC, have to say never in my wildest dreams did I think BF 1 and V would get one

also for EA the issue has been dealt with, so I won't expect more

imo the only thing which EA could do better is get their hands on the cheats and reverse engineer them, would basically require them to purchase cheats from the creators 🤣

I only play bf v once a week on thursday for the weekly missions, but to be fair I can't remember when was the last time I saw one

If it will fail like 2042 then cheating will be almost non existent

I did encounter cheaters in 2042 but it wasn't comparable to bfv levels

at least the blatant ones, as for the closet cheaters, it will always be hard to tell

this will always be a cat and mouse game, anti cheat gets updated, cheats get an update and so on

Milsim games just require understanding recoil control and nothing else because time to kill is instant. No tracking, no precision, just understanding of basic projectile/lead and you'll outgun the majority.

Desert maps are easy. they can make what's easy, but the amount of foliage on a foliage dedicated map isn't a factor in performance nowadays trust me i know im dabbling in 3d modeling on a gpu about to burst it's seams

I've easily made realistic summer northern boreal terrains where mostly moss grows on the ground and the only trees are short spindly pine trees crammed in together like sardines that get thinned out in higher elevations

When your someone who goes out in nature often you notice things like how not every tree is going to be healthy and that's fine, the trees recycle eachother and suck the nutrients out of the old trees,

Pine needles are acidic and you don't often find grass growing under them, just pillowy moss.

Desert maps are easy. they can make what's easy, but the amount of foliage on a foliage dedicated map isn't a factor in performance nowadays trust me i know im dabbling in 3d modeling on a gpu about to burst it's seams.
I've easily made realistic summer northern boreal terrains where mostly moss grows on the ground and the only trees are short spindly pine trees crammed in together like sardines that get thinned out in higher elevations
When your someone who goes out in nature often you notice things like how not every tree is going to be healthy and that's fine, the trees recycle eachother and suck the nutrients out of the old trees,
Pine needles are acidic and you don't often find grass growing under them, just pillowy moss.

The next BF game should have server browser as well, otherwise it is repeating mistakes from BF2042. The lack of server browser in 2042 made it harder for people to play their favorite maps as well as finding their friends/platoon members. During the time where the EA app friends list was bugged, I had a hard time getting to the same server as my friend, we could only attempt to queue at the same time in hopes of ending up on the same server.

I think that BF works best with both the option to select a server directly + to pick matchmaking in order to be sorted into an appropriate server.
In 2042, the player Portal servers offer an inferior option to the AoW servers because you cannot have full progression + filler bots enabled like those in the AoW server, this what are we left in portal servers that cannot get the minimum participants to start or servers for players with unusual tastes ("hardcore")

I would have been around lvl 400 or maybe 500 if they wouldn't have had that lvl 50 cap for like half a year

also I've done all weekly missions since they started, haven't touched the real money currency, got around 16000-17000 of those

I hope that the "Portal" version of the next BF game will not prevent people from hosting servers with the same full progression official settings as "All out Warfare".
In 2042 the potential of Portal was killed off when it was decided that a server set up exactly like the official servers will have Moderate progression due to the exactly same filler/placeholder A.I. that was in the AoW.

Here's how I'd address it. Portal servers will give normal XP as long as player health doesnt get set below a certain amount and both teams are actual players and not just bots on one side. They could make it conditional.

the starting weapons on each class are pretty much as good as it gets

for assault it depends what you need for the situation
