We did that in 5 for dedicated servers for while. TAG would host, sometimes WHAR. We’d do unofficial tournaments with a dozen other clans.

It's up to the community the competitive part not the game perse look at bf2 the players made it competitive and there is not a competitive mode on the game

There have been good cod games since Zampella left unfortunately. He's a talented dude though, and most of the games after he was gone were noticeably worse aside from some exceptions like BO2, MW2019, Cold War, etc
