bf2042 maps started following this weird 3-lane formula to accomodate all the players when i really think that instead of being big and open they shouldve focused more on destruction and adding verticality so that not every player was guaranteed to run into each other by following one of those lanes

A good game only is only a good game when it exists.

One melee for all made melee be its own 'skill' in a way. A huge commitment. By adding multiple melee weapon types, we basically treated the melee as an other 'slot of accessory' and there is a whole meta to it. Different speed, damage, ranges... Animations were crisp in BF1 and sometimes the commitment to that animation is far superior to that of BF3/4. But it was often use as a 'spam to survive in melee range' tool. We also lost the feeling of the old dogtags system. BF1 medals were too shy imo and people didn't gave a damn about. It's hard to explain, it's mostly the lose of a "feeling" and the skill gap it bringed rather than actual gameplay data

the problem with vehicles in bf4 is that they were far too strong, had thermals and were basically unkillable with a really sweaty pilot; jets in particular are infamous for having basically only two counters

First of all it never made any sense that consoles never got kbm support, so an inferior platform had to play against pc all of the time, and then the recoil bug which was universal made it even harder to track enemies… it sends shivers down my spine. BF works best when PC is on its own and consoles play with their own population
