BF1 and V both have a "campaign" but they are segmented in to war stories, also V has Coop missions, where you just fight Bots on multiplayer maps

only 2042 does not have a any singleplayer stuff

My main issue was that it seemed to be poorly done. Too much of a domino effect for weapon balance. Had it been a lower ttk at launch, and everything was designed around thta, it'd probably be fine. But the game as a whole was a tug of war between "Bf2 successor" and "BF1 successor"

That’s true, I use cod world at war as an example of what I’d like to see in a modern battlefield/cod game, and even that game has goofs with the skins (i think it has to do with artists depictions and just error, they might do something that looks cool but is totally out of place or aren’t even aware of the history behind it)

There are 4 types of play: chance, vertigo, simulation, and competition. All of these are fun, and all are valid.
Simulation is the key one here. Simulation is not about realism or even accuracy. It is about roleplay and immersion. Lots of people played BF1 for this type of fun. There is nothing wrong with that
V fails miserably at simulation. Regardless of how authentic it is, the art style and sound design present two distinct tones that clash horribly with each other. It is trying to be both gritty and terrifying, while also being cheery, silly, and vibrant.
